QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ May 15 2018, 02:19 PM) It seems that one Post-Apocalypse game published by Bethesda Softworks isn’t enough for them... Rage2Cripes! Well it looks interesting. It's got a lot of vehicles to ride around in. And those graphics look amazing, of course. It doesn't even look like a videogame! It looks more like a movie trailer. Like all the sudden, Vin Diesel is going to be standing there at the end, doing a Schwarzenegger one-liner. I wonder if I'm done progressing in the world of videogames though. Like, I'm about to become mirocu. Stuck in 2009 with Fallout 3, lol. Maybe 2010 with New Vegas. I don't feel like shelling out any more money to get a PC upgrade, or even a Xbox One. Who knows, though? Is Rage Bethesda's own creation? You know.... Fallout was not really their idea, Beth merely took it over with FO3. What about Rage, though? I think that could be it. They want to make something which is completely theirs, if so. That's what all the vehicles are about. Can't put a bunch of operational vehicles into Fallout games, that would break all kinds of lore, right? Anyway... This post has been edited by Renee: May 16 2018, 12:19 AM

Right, as Subbie stated Rage is not made by BGS, only published by Bethesda Softworks. Apologies if Khajiit’s post was misleading. But yeah, Rage2. This one honestly thought this was a dead franchise, since the first one was released way back in 2011. From what Khajiit has read by others at Beth.net, the first Rage was a fairly typical first person shooter with some driving elements tossed into the mix. Rage2 looks to expand on that formula, but not sure to what extent. Supposedly it’s going to have a large open world to explore. This one is curious about the vehicles, but the combat looks like typical numbskull shoot’em up, imo.

With new laptop it's time for a new game. Though my family and new job will keep me busy, I should find some time here and there to explore Commonwealth. I spoiled myself years ago by reading some of the main plot of the game but I can live with that, fortunately about most of the game I have no clue, which is good. I made a mistake before playing Skyrim by watching too many trailers and reading reviews / playthroughs, so I felt that I had known too much about the game before even trying it. Anyway, I didn't repeat this mistake with FO4. My character only made it out of the starting Vault but so far, a few impressions: - it reminds me of Mass Effect. A lot. One of the reasons I decided to try FO4 was that I often came upon "FO4 is too similar to Mass Effect" statement. Seeing as I liked ME, that wasn't a bad thing for me. Those who had played ME, know why they're similar - the dialogue system is almost the same and you see and hear your character as he's talking. Maybe they're similar in some other aspects too, we'll see. The difference is that in ME you have a fixed surname which often gets mentioned in dialogues BUT... - ...BUT I was nicely surprised that my character's surname is voiced in FO4. I named him "Dennis Barry" and the robot in the intro called him Mister Barry. Now I know that if I gave him some rare name, he wouldn't be voiced but still...it's a nice touch. - I try and regard FO4 as a different game than its predecessors, otherwise I might get too critical about some things like skills being handled differently than in previous games. So far the voiced protagonist doesn't bother me either. But my first impression is that FO4 is much more like some FPS than previous Fallouts, especially compared to New Vegas. The graphics is stunning (thanks to my new laptop). So far I don't intend to install any mods to experience the game in its vanilla state. This post has been edited by Lopov: Jul 18 2018, 11:24 AM

I even think that (NSFW) is an option he will repeat. I envy you! The first time is always the most memorable.

Yeah Codsworth is the only character who will call you by name, as far as Khajiit knows. It’s good that you intend to play the game in its vanilla state first so you’ll know what exactly you don’t like and can mod it. F4 has plenty of problems but most are at least partially alleviated with mods.

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Jul 18 2018, 03:57 PM) Codsworth does not know most of my character's names (which is no surprise - Hecate, Persephone, Loviatar, Medusa, etc...) But I think he did know Frost, and of course he did get Annie and Victoria.
He doesn’t know Désirée either

QUOTE(Renee @ Jul 19 2018, 05:29 PM) Wow, so the game can sometimes mention your character's name? Craziness. Does Codsworth know the word 'delicious?'
I don't know about delicious but he knows the word "Logan", tested today. It wouldn't surprise if he knew delicious as well. QUOTE Good to have you back, Lopov. Thanks! I must compliment the character creator, so far it's my favorite one from Beth games, it's not so difficult to create a good-looking character. There are lots of options to sculpt on a face and while some don't play an important role IMO, some others really stand out and make a difference.

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Jul 21 2018, 08:23 PM) There is a neat trick I have been meaning to post about.
An easy way to find mines is to simply go into VATS with a weapon drawn. If there is a mine in your line of sight, VATS will lock on to it. Cycle through targets to find all the mines in front of you. Exit VATS and your gun will be pointed directly at the last one you had targeted. You can either shoot it then (or in VATS), or disarm it.
Oh yeah totally. Khajiit is constantly spamming the VATS button in search of dangers This post has been edited by TheCheshireKhajiit: Jul 22 2018, 02:29 AM

I finished the MQ today for the 1st time, following the Railroad questline. In fact, as SubRosa said in another thread, the MQ in a way ends once you find your son, later on there are several faction questlines to follow. The game surpassed my expectations by far and now I'd say it's a great game. My biggest gripe before actually playing the game was the voiced protagonist but while playing, it didn't bother me at all. It might bother me when replaying the game with another character but there are mods to help. In any case, I don't plan to create a new character anytime soon. Not once while playing I felt that the game would be rushed, it actually feels "finished" to me. In almost 60 hours of playing I encountered only one CTD and no glitches / bugs, which is saying something. Exploration is very, very interesting and before playing I wasn't thrilled knowing that it's set in a town (just like Washington in Fallout 3) but they did an amazing job with Boston and accessible rooftops make one feel like there's another town above. Quests are also interesting and I liked the MQ, especially the early part where you're still more or less clueless about what's going on in the Commonwealth. Combat is well-done and I immensely enjoyed some big battles close to the end of the main questline. And the best of it - despite the MQ being completed there's still lots of things to be done in the Commonwealth, which are probably even more interesting than quests. But now I intend to game at a slightly slower pace.
