QUOTE(Stargazey @ Sep 4 2005, 04:24 PM)
Well, if you found a book that exposed the Emperor's homosexual love life, it would be worth a lot of gold, to the right people.
*

and with that, this idea was hatched! Thank you Stargazey!

To the Librarian, of the Library of Tes F'Ruum,

I doubt that you know who I am, and, quite frankly, that's exactly how I want it. Suffice it to say that we know of you and that some of us are close to the Emperor. These two facts, in conjunction with the fact that the library isn't burning and you are not in prison, should be enough to prove our good intent.

I am writing to you to share with you information that has been collected on the Emperor, of which you are the only place capable of safekeeping should we be discovered. What follows is my eyewitness account, as well as those of several others within our order. All of which is completely trustworthy and without fault.

This all began when, about a year ago, a young Khajiit female, tall, dark, and exeedingly beautiful, arrived in the Emperor's private manor with a 'special delivery' for him. The guard on duty received the permission of the emperor for her to enter, and she entered into the manor, straight into the Emperor's bedchambers. Four hours later she emerged, disheveled and winded. The guard also observed that she was weariong an entirely different set of clothes then when she had entered. Senseing a problem, he asssigned one of his men to follow her.

I was the one with that duty. She led me through the upper Manor district, through the merchant district, and into the heart of the redlight area, where she entered into the Twin Hills, a house of ill repute. Discreetly, I entered after her to see if I couldn't find out more about this mysterious Khajiit. I found far more than I bargained for. After a bit of... persuasion... the manager of the house told me the whole story. About once a week, sometimes as many as five times a week, a messenger would arrive here with a coded package, stating what the emperor wanted. She would then send one of her employees to the manor. A few days after that a sum of money, three times what the normal pay for these services are, would arrive by mail from any number of dummy persons, fronting for the Emperor.

The transcript of the interveiw I had with the manager, as well as copies of some of the packages from the Emperor, have been enclosed with this letter.

some of the guards and I quietly arranged for the dissapearance of both the manager and her employees under the guise of the Emerald Elm Society. The employees have done a better job of hiding than I could have hoped, at the time of writing this letter we cannot locate any of them. However, we do know where the manager now works, should you wish to contact her.

Roughly three months later, the Emerald Elm Society now having ties in several levels of the Emperors service, we found another incident of his misdeeds. One of us, while preparing the budget report for the Empire's last year, found several discrepancies in the figures, which he was unable to account for. Told by supervisors to 'let it alone', he reported it to the rest of the Society.

Naturally, we investigated.

We uncovered an enourmous strew of hidden expenses dating as far back as thirty years ago. Although the official records were well doctored, we found the set of real ones with which we were able to track the funds quite easily. They went to hundreds of places, the most notable being large apothecaries for poisons, the mages and fighters guild, dozens of noble's private accounts, and even funds to a demonic cult in Vvardenfell. Furthermore, we were able to determine that not only did the Meperor know of these funds, but expressly ordered many of them. Copies of the financial statements, real and doctored, have been included with this letter.

This led us to uncover one fo the most damning peices of evidence we have been able to collect. We beleive he is the one responsible for the South Harbor Massacre.

I hardly need to tell you of the horrors that happened that day. The ones who did it were obviously highly trained to kill that many people in that short of a time. The Dark Brotherhood being the most likely subject.

one of the money trails we found was extremely well doctored, so much that we couldn't find it's destination. 1 milion septims gone without a trace two weeks before the massacre. In addition, we noticed that several men with known ties to the dark brotherhood found themselves with a sudden wealth at their command. Several now own mansions in the Imperial city itself.

Why, you ask, would the Emperor order hundreds of his on citizens assasinated? We found a letter from early in his reign, stating plans he has for the south harbor area of the City. Checking them against the 'rebuilding' that is now being done there, we found these plans to be almost exactly the same.

The evidence we have been able to collect on this has been included with the letter. In a few weeks we should have more information for you, should you wish it.

Most Respectfully Yours,
A Concerned Citizen,
Memeber of the E.E.S.

*Librarian's note: Two days after this letter arrived, several people in varying levels of the Meperor's service were arrested end executed on several charges, most fo which blatant and obvious framings. I suspect this to be most, if not all, of the Emerald Elm Society. Obviously, we never received any more letters, and although the evidence in this is quite damning, without the connections of the society we could not substantiate them. The evidence that came with this letter is in the Archives, should anyone wish to investigate further.

I knew I mentioned it. Not so much a continuation mind you, but a companion volume, puts in some missing blanks in the original story.

Should probably update Morrowfall too while I'm at it...

I thought at first that the Emperor had a little bit of fetish for furries, Reeeoowr. laugh.gif

"After a bit of persuasion, the manager of the house told me the whole story."

Seems a little too easy. No one who is successfully operating a house of ill repute is gonna be stupid enough to give up the goods on the Emperor without some thumb screws being used--pissing off the Emperor is probably THE biggest threat to himself, his family, his distant relatives, and his business.

Even if you don't want to go into detail, maybe just add something like "At first the manager refused to speak of the matter. There's no need to go into detail here, but suffice it to say that I did some things I'm not exactly proud of...things that wouldn't exactly win me the "Humanitarian of the Year" award. But they got him talking."

Other than that, this is exactly the kind of thing we need more of in our outlaw Library, regardless of whether the stories are true or just convincing accusations. smile.gif I was just about to write something rather similar myself, actually...bah. Should still work, though. No sweaty feline action in mine. tongue.gif

I'll just add '...' to each side, should get the meaning I wanted across.
