I read some and found that the only difference between endings is that Druth tells you that he and The Shadow (don't want to give out spoilers on the man's identity) were the ones who led the Vikings to the Orkneys. Not the gods or Senua's own darkness. Which does make it happier, as it releases her from her guilt. But it is not much of an extension! laugh.gif

At the very ending Senua says "Follow us, we have another story to tell". That makes me think they might revisit her with another game in the future. If you look at the game purely from a psychological perspective, the quest is all just in her head. A way for her to come to terms with Dillion's death and the destruction of her home. It ends with her finally coming to peace with it all. In reality she could still be sitting in front of Dillion's grave in the Orkneys. They could go anywhere from there.

How replayable is this game?

I would say the replayablity is very limited. It is extremely linear. Since there are no character classes or skills or perks, there is really only one way to play it. It is not like you can replay it as a different character with a different play style. Instead it is the kind of game that tells you a story. Once the story is over, it is over, like watching a movie. Like Kotor or other Bioware games, I would say it is one you could play once a year or so.

Thanks for some explanation behind those pics. So would you say that the game is very combat oriented or is combat a minor part of it?

Also, all those dead people and their big hands...are they really there or is it all inside Senua's head?

so where can this game be purchased? I will have to look into the system requirements and consider . . .

The whole psychological setting is what appeals to me - that and the fact that Senua is so natural and NORMAL looking.

Though I know some folks will always prefer the glossy, gravity defying b00b models, and that's fine with me, I've always preferred to look at real athletes doing this sort of thing. That's why I loved Gina Carano in Haywire . . .

As one of the developers said, when dealing with psychosis, the question of what is reality and what is not often comes up. This is Senua's reality.

It is very puzzle and exploration and story oriented. Combat is the least part of the game. For me the combat was more something I had to get through so I could get to the really cool stuff.

What a fascinating game and such great pictures to display it! Senua's face is amazingly expressive - able to capture what seems like a very wide range of emotions. And those big eyes help!

Thanks for sharing this neat game with us!

I started up a new game of Senua's Sacrifice last night and took a bunch of pics from the 1st chapter.

Land of the Dead

Coming to shore

Never alone

Hela's Hall

No going back

A bridge only the dead may cross

Looking for a way in

Senua and Druth

The Darkness is inside, as well as outside

Resolve

Walking on

Rowing under hanging corpses is really creepy.

That land is really full of corpses.

The looming structure ahead of Senua looks like a dragon.

There's agony on Senua's face.

Are her hands bloody, dirty or both?

That game looks incredible. I wonder what it's all about? I'll have to read your OP SubRosa.

The voices part sounds really cool, wow.

It is not blood or dirt on Senua's right hand and forearm. That is the Darkness inside her, a rot that steadily grows every time you die in the game. Supposedly if it reaches your head you die permanently, and the game is over. But it never does.

Valravn

Whack!

Finishing move

Spleckt!

Sun in shadow

Surt

Knockout

Finish Him!

Flames

Driving it deeper

One more for good luck

Looks very moody - in a neat way. It seems like there may be a good balance between being inside Senua's head and a fair amount of action. Certainly looks like an interesting game!

Great battle shots, first in the rain, then in some kind of what looks like a burning arena. Are finishing moves controlled by you or performed automatically?

Acadian: It's very moody and atmospheric. It puts you firmly into Senua's head, along with all the other voices.

Lopov: The finishing moves are all automatic. You can only do a quick attack or power attack, plus block, and finally evade.

On the bridge to Hel

Battle

Rain

The Gate to Hel

But the goddess guards the gate

Striking at Hela

Shattered

Hela rules here

Falling into darkness

Survivor

Cauterized

Hela really looks scary in "Hela rules here" pic.

Though Senua survived, she seems to be in a lot of pain / agony.

The screenshots are as wonderful to see this time as were the ones where you showed us your first go through. Are you enjoying the experience second time through? I'm guessing you are as it sure looks like a powerful story. Gosh what a spectacular sky in your first shot!

Lopov: The entire story is Senua's agony. But it at least has an uplifting ending.

Acadian: I enjoyed the game quite a bit the second time around. I kind of think of it more like a movie. It is something to experience.

Memory of better times

Dreams turn to ash

Shores and swords

Twilight

Bog

Ruins

Restoration

Dark Forest

Dark memories

Darkness

Gramr

A sword that can kill gods

Despite the harsh lands, these are beautiful pictures. Nice studies of Senua's face. Her wide open eyes and overall expressions quite convey her desperation... almost a sense of internal panic. Very cool and I'm so glad you're enjoying experiencing her story again.
