I can't wait! It looks epic, and the best part is it should be available for PC AND Mac!

I'm so excited I could burst! -KoB blows up-

I believe there is supposed to be playable werewolves and vampires. I CAN'T WAIT -dies of excitement-

It looks like it'll be neat. I hope that players of any race can play together and don't have to be divided into the 3 alliances.

This thread is probably going to get locked or moved. I just realized you aren't supposed to create MMO threads in the RPG discussion area kvleft.gif

I kind of doubt it'll be moved or locked.

That post in the rules excluding MMO's was over six years ago and the author had no idea that there would be an Elderscrolls related MMO.

Also, the members here kind of take care of themselves. I can't remember the last time I saw a comment moderated.

If we're allowed to go freelance, then yeah, let's create a guild of Chorrol.com! Let's take the fight to all of them, and crown one of us as the Emperor! We shall tear apart this world, create anew amongst the old, and usher in an age of golden peace! We shall lay low the King of Rape, and he shall supplicate himself beneath the White Tower's gaze! Never sgain shall demons ascend to vex the mortal world! The divinty of our guild shan't be questioned, and all of them, all of the alliances, all of the daedra, they. Shall. Submit. We will BREAK all of those who stand in our way, and those who command false legions shall wither.

We are strong and forever more enduring, for are we not the representatives of the great Blue Oak of Chorrol? We are the seeds of that ancient and noble tree, and by our hands shall a new order bloom, and like the oak, it shall be steadfast, against all who would set themselves as obstacles. Under the banner of the Blue City, we shall conquer and divide this world so under the thumb of chaos.

Rise with me, brothers and sisters, and he and she among you that draws blade with me I shall take to glory unending, prestige unlimited, and history itself will moan your name forever.

*raises axe*

To red war.

*raises mace*

To butchery.

*raises sword*

To Unsundered Gates of Coldharbour itself.

*raises fist*

All in the name of peace.

NYAAAAAAAAAAARAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

So sayeth Uleni Athram of the Kragenmoor Athrams.
--------------

Assuming of course, I get a computer that can handle a MMO, and they let you go freelance, and they let you create Guilds. *sighs*

I was listening to Two Steps From Hell, btw, and I just felt epic I had to make the atrocity up above.

I hope with the internet connection I have, I can play an MMO. 120kb/s wooo!

Posted by: Illydoor Jan 22 2013, 05:12 AM

Chorrol was overrun by the unearthly forces of Molag Bal, their homes and livelihoods destroyed.

But not their spirit.

And in wake of the destruction, resilience sparks and grows. A band of adventurers, their origins spanning the entire breadth of Tamriel, united in one sole purpose to claim the once grand city in the name of humanity and retribution.

THE ALLIANCE OF THE CHORROL FORUM SHALL TAKE BACK THEIR HOME.

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jan 22 2013, 05:36 AM

*Uleni bursts violently at Illydoor's post*

AND THE WORLD SHALL QUIVER AT OUR FOOTSTEPS.

THE CORE OF NIRN'S FOUNDATIONS SHALL QUAKE.

UNCONQUERABLE EVEN BY DEATH,

BY OUR HANDS, HISTORY ITSELF SHALL BE MADE.

WE ARE THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF CHORROL,

AND BY THE GRACE OF THE OAK,

MOLAG BAL SHALL BE PUT TO THE SWORD,

AND HE SHALL FALL,

LIKE THE REST.

AND THE WORLD SHALL QUIVER AT OUR FOOTSTEPS!!

Posted by: Arcry Jan 25 2013, 03:19 AM

The family Tharn must be cast from the ivory halls of White Gold! Their rule has grown corpulent much like the festering corpses their allies cast upon Nirn. And when the halls of White Gold have been cleansed of their corruption, the demon Bal will be cast from our plain! No longer shall his ilk vex and pollute our lands, our very homes!

Brothers and sisters of banner blue, I shall set my bow to bear against your enemies. For Life and Freedom.

Posted by: Elisabeth Hollow Jan 25 2013, 03:30 AM

CALM DOWN, EVERYONE!

XD

Posted by: Uleni Athram Jan 25 2013, 04:48 AM

And my axe shall be yours to command, brother! The Great Oak shall bloom again!

Posted by: King Of Beasts Jan 25 2013, 05:33 AM

We shall join forces as shield brothers and sisters, and take back what is rightfully ours! The king of rape shall cower at our name!

Bit still, I'm very excited about ESO!

Posted by: Elisabeth Hollow Jan 25 2013, 06:55 AM

I think this thing will be so generic that it won't be worth playing. I'll change my opinion and admit if I'm wrong (I have before) but so far it looks pretty underwhelming.

The only thing I thought was really cool was the idea of being able to explore Tamriel and look at the different terrains and art styles.

Posted by: Pseron Wyrd Feb 20 2013, 08:08 PM

As a long-time Elder Scrolls fan I can't not buy this thing when it comes out. In fact, I've signed up for the BETA. I haven't read much about it so I actually don't know if I'll like it or not, to be honest. I am optimistically un-optimistic about whether I might like this game.

It's no big deal one way or the other to me, frankly. What with GOG regularly offering unbelievably fantastic deals on some of the best single-player games in the history of gaming, I have no lack of games to play.

I am completely ignorant of MMOs. From what I’ve seen, a person has to agree to meet up with friends’ characters ahead of time (which does not work for me) or just play with random strangers (which does not interest me)? I’d love to explore the environment, though. Probably through the miracle of YouTube. tongue.gif

The best way to play them is with people you know. So yeah you kind of do need to agree upon some time to play.

I wonder if that means you can only wander freely in your faction's home area, or if there will be random opposing faction naughtiness occurring all over the map.

All in all, this makes me considerably less enthusiastic about the game.

This is what I recall from what little I have heard. Your character will be limited to adventuring in your faction's home territory, and they can go to Cyrodiil for pvp. But that is it. So your Nord can never go to Valenwood, or your Dunmer can never go to High Rock., etc...

Exactly! I understand that it's a different studio, but if they're going to put the title: Elder Scrolls on it, they better not make it like every other crappy MMO out there. It better be good!

I'll be surprised if it doesn't. Many attempts have been made (by several companies) to make the leap into the MMO world and most of them have been as quick to die as they were born.

The good stuff: Guitars! (and possibly lutes/flutes/drums etc.) Crafting whenever and wherever you want. At least for the simple stuff like cooking. Smithing might be limited to fixed crafting stations.

I liked the catapults, even if they only served as eyecandy and 'there is a war going on in case you didn't notice'.

Oh, and the way the hammer was held reminds me of Monster Hunter/God Eater/any other game where you run around murdering Cthulhu and turn his skull into a club so you can bash in King Kong's face next.

My thoughts exactly. If E.S.O. is anywhere near mediocre, I'll fall flat on my ass. Then again, I will probably lower my expectations and enjoy whatever little they leave for F2P-ers.

Posted by: King Of Beasts Mar 27 2013, 09:13 PM

I don't have very high expectations for ESO, but I suppose time will validate or contradict my prediction kvleft.gif

Posted by: Tellie Apr 2 2013, 12:20 AM

Of all the MMO's I've played only the Old Republic actually managed to do something for me...most likely beacuse the stories are quite good. Naturally as a long time TES fan I'll have to play it, and will definitely be down with creating a Chorrol.Com guild.

That said if anyone names their character Telina Delvanni I will be...sorely disappointed *charges fireball* Savvy? biggrin.gif

So yeah, when the game comes out look for my characters (Telina Delvanni, and Aurora Delvanni will be the names I will use)

Posted by: King Coin Apr 2 2013, 02:04 AM

I'll probably try it, but we'll see how long I play it. A Chorrol.com guild would be awesome, but with the faction locks I don't know if we could actually do it.

Most likely a battlemage of some sort. I don't use magic too often, I usually stick to weapons, but I like the battlemage style.

I'm going crossbowman with dual wielding swords and heavy armour.

A Redguard! He's going to be a pure warrior, and hopefully there will be spears added. Light-armored. He's going to be the ancestor of my male Imperial, Kraven, an Imperial with Redguard blood. cool.gif

I just have to think of a better name for him . . .

Something Arabian/Middle Eastern. Hmm.

Now now, we all know that spears are impossible to do in computer games. The game jam video proved that! wink.gif

How about Salah Al-Din for your Redguard?

Hmm. Yeah, only state-of-the-art games like Morrowind are able to do such a tremendously difficult task laugh.gif

Heh, Kingdom of Heaven? It crossed my mind, though this time I wanted something not used in film or books, but also lore-friendly. Most Redguards have few normal names, and only a handful have Middle-Eastern names such as Abdul-Mujib Ababneh and Afa-Saryat. I'll have to do some research. Probably use my own name in another language(my name is Hebrew).

You can still sign up.

BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T USE THE BETA FOR EARLY ACCESS!

Too many people do this it isn't just for early gameplay it's to be actually beta tested so report bugs and stuff if you ever get in.

If, IF, I've even had the urge or craving to potentially play ESO in some future, even wait a year or more for it to become F2P, things like these "mishaps" in links have dissuaded me from even bothering with it. If I give money to someone, it creates a sacred bond between a seller and customer - I'm supporting a company and am expected to play fair and by their rules; the company, in return, has to treat me fairly and with due respect. Zenimax obviously has no ****ing clue about any of that and treats people who have paid everything they wanted and are in no way exploiters or scammers like crap.

Well said!... biggrin.gif ...

We went to a games store last weekend, surprisingly enough, it's called Game...But anyways, they're selling that giant set with the statue for £30-off...And the smaller version was down from £50 to £30...

Methinks if they don't get it sorted soon, Bethesda's gonna be in much trouble, money-wise...

They so haven't thought this through properly...

Posted by: stargelman Jun 3 2014, 07:30 PM

$200,000,000 / $15 = $13,333,333

$13,333,333 / 12 = 1,111,111 subscribers paying for the game for a full year.

Not including purchase of the game itself, but also not including running costs for server maintenance & traffic, bug fixing, community relationship repair workshops etc.

Over a million player-years. I wonder what mileage other games are getting.

Posted by: McBadgere Jun 6 2014, 04:25 AM

Yeah, but stranger things have happened...Hell, even Costner's Waterworld (which I actually enjoyed btw...And at the cinema too...) managed to make its money back...Eventually... biggrin.gif ...

If it was just PC that figure would be worrying...But split over the three consoles?...That's "just" 400,000 each platform...

Hmmm...Yeah, writing it down doesn't do much for it either, actually... laugh.gif ...

We're doomed!!...

It's a trap!!!... panic.gif ...

I liked the question posed in the Forbes thing..."Did we ever actually need an Elder Scrolls MMO?"... kvleft.gif ...Well, I was interested right up to the mention of a subscription...

Does it have a campaign mode?

Truthfully, I would love to RP with a few of the people whose characters I've come to know and love - like Buffy and Teresa - meeting them in game and clearing a dungeon or just sitting in a tavern sipping a glass of Tamika's and talking - to me, that would be awesome, if there was a way to tone down interaction with every online RP'er out there who has a sword and wants to fight you. Like a co-op mode or something, a way our characters could really hang out together. I would love it, if we could do it that way.

When my son first got on an online game, he was repressively shy and wouldn't talk - just listen to the others. Within a month we never saw him without his headset on, he was on that thing constantly talking; and it helped his shyness outside the game too. Many of the guys he played online with went to the local high school, so when he left middle school and started high school, he had established friendships already walking in the door - he didn't go through the same scared nervous period that he did going into middle school.

Speaking of online RPing, I saw a hilarious vid on YouTube of someone playing Skyrim and doing their RP verbally as they met Vilja; really funny vid series.

Posted by: Acadian Oct 31 2014, 06:33 PM

While it would be nice to link up with friends, I guess mods that do more than change user interface are not possible. One of the things I love about ES is the ability to change whatever aspects of the game world suit my whims via mods.

There is much wisdom for me in SubRosa's sentiment about an SP version. To me the biggest draw of ES(O) would be the ability to explore all of Tamriel - and an on line game is not needed for that.

One can only hope that, in the future, the answer to 'Where will the next SP TES game take place?' will be 'All of Tamriel.' I don't mind one bit if travel between provinces is simply crossing borders (like the Elsweyr and Valenwood mods do in Oblivion) or if each province is its own world space (like Oblivion did with Shivering Isles and Skyrim did with Solstheim).

Anyway, I continue to be curious about how ESO is doing. smile.gif

That would be great, to visit the familiar places and characters but with friends in game beside us - really don't want to play in a totally strange environment both ways (online gaming and the game itself) - but if they had a campaign mode where you could become comfortable in the world first, then ease out amongst a few friends - that would be easier for me.

Does anyone know if it includes campaign mode? (I know Todd Howard would be ticked at hearing that said after all the years of begging for them to make TES a MMORG - but he should have considered his target audience and made the campaign mode just in case, lol).

Hmm. You have to find the high-level NPC werewolves in the wilderness that spawn during full moons. You fight them and get bitten and infected with Sanies lupinus or Canis Hysteria. After that you'll find an NpC werewolf female in the city who can tell you to find a priest or follow the scent of her glove to a pack leader.

If you choose the pack leader route, you'll search for Songamdir in a shrine of Hircine. You'll be taken to the Hunting Grounds and, well, I won't spoil what happens.

Hunt well, friend! Who knows we can see search other in the game and go attack some villages!

OK, I think I missed a major development. So now you can explore all of the provinces with a single character of any race, despite the whole war/faction situation? Is that what all of this Tamriel Unlimited business means?

Posted by: SubRosa May 29 2015, 07:48 PM

No, the Tamriel Unlimited is just a new name they decided to use when they went free to play. I think it is just meant to confuse people is all.

You can go everywhere with a character if you pay extra though. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Crown_Store you can buy that lets you do it as any race. Or you can pay extra for the Imperial Edition, and play as an Imperial in any alliance you want. But I think you are still stuck that alliance's territory only.

Yes and no. I think you start out in the territory your race is Allianced with (and they are huge areas); but once you pass all the quests in that area I am pretty sure you can go on to other places; but you have to be a certain level or something to move on to the DLC, etc.

But the areas each Alliance covers are enormous! Example: I'm playing Ebonheart Pact, the area I begin in and hone my skills in covers all of Morrowind, Skyrim, and Black Marsh. These are huge areas, with tons of quests and dungeons to explore before I even think about moving on to other areas.

A friend visited me in Ebonheart the other day, and if I'm not mistaken he is a Veteren level 20 from the Aldmeri, so I think you can leave your area.

You can "Place me at" one of your friends on your friends list; and the game will deposit you at the closest shrine to them - getting to them after that is your job.

But really, you want to stay in your race's area till your character is leveled and strong enough/skilled enough to handle the next places anyway. The enemies get unbelievably tough as you progress in the game.

The first towns you reach are kind of like a "beginning zone" where the enemies are a bit scaled down for you to practice and hone your skills with the questing in that area before going on to the much tougher enemies you will meet as you travel further from the beginning towns (Just like Seyda Neen and Balmora were in Morrowind).

One of my friends from another site (level 19 playing solo) was exploring a non-quest cave that it took him hours and hours and many times dying to finally beat the enemy - but when he did, he was hugely satisfied with the night's gaming.

(I know that feeling, it was how I felt the first time I went through Anchorage, lol).

The only area that is not openly available is Cyrodiil, and that is because in Cyrodiil all the Alliances are in a massive Player vs Player battle.

Oh, and SubRosa - I did find conjuration (Daedra) under "Sorceress/Sorcerer" class. I can't remember what we were saying about it, but I wrote down that you were asking about conjuration.

There are huge bonuses if you are in a class that uses magic and don't wear heavy armor. Misa is a Templar class and she wore nothing but a basic prison garb all the way through and out of Coldharbour - the game accounts for your lack of armor, and I believe it also accounts for your being solo rather than in a group.

I know the magic classes can use weapons, but not sure how all that works yet. I have just gotten to level 2, and when you level up you are given skill points to distribute into spells or something similar to perks.

Example: My character is a Templar, which is magic based off the sun or light - very powerful magic in both destruction and healing.

Well, my character has been fighting with a greatsword right from the start (I found it in the tutorial prison cell), but I just leveled up for the first time the other day.

Before you level up, certain things might happen in game where you are given a point to distribute to either Magic, Health, or Endurance. When I leveled up the first time I had three points, so I put one in each slot. That brings you to a screen to distribute skill points.

On this screen there is a lot of stuff you can see but not access yet; those will have a padlock over them. But each skill set might have one or more that you can access at this time (just like the perks in Fallout games or the Perk trees in Skyrim) - they are probably opened up by what you used and what choice you made with those additional points you earned.

When I leveled up I was given 4 points to distribute to skills:

I put one into destruction (and got a whopping destruction spell)
One into healing (and got an awesome healing spell)
One into weapons; and it was kind of like a perk that increased my critical and damage ratings overall
One into armor; and it was kind of like a perk that increased my shield and health overall.

I will look for tea, haven't seen it yet - but there is crafting of beverages here, so it is possible there will def be tea, lol.

Posted by: mALX May 30 2015, 01:15 AM

Oh, also - you can have up to 8 characters and are allowed 3 character deletions. Everyone I know that plays has a character in each Alliance so they can experience all the differences.

I will probably do that too once I've played through in Ebonheart; make an Imperial character and try out the other Alliances (yes, I payed the extra 20 bucks for the Imperial edition and a horse, lol).

This is my biggest question right now too, hazmick. I’ve read that anyone can pick up a weapon and use it, and that using a weapon increases that skill. However with magic I can’t figure out how a character could start using a skill that’s not one of their class’s skill trees. I’m thinking mostly about summoning. If I want a warrior who summons it looks like my only option is to create a Sorcerer class to get the summoning and then start using armor and weapons that I find or make. It would help me a lot if I could just get that lightbulb moment on how the different skills work.

I flipped my wig a little over the three character deletion limit, but that’s just within a specific period of time, I think 24 hours. You know how I love to populate the world with my own creations. laugh.gif So from what I’ve read as long as you only delete three per day there is no limit to how many you can create and play over time, just a limit of eight at once.

I am curious about names. mALX, you mentioned that you can talk to anyone by putting their name into the chat box (and spelling it correctly). Does that mean if someone else has a character named Persephone, I cannot use the same name for one of my characters? Or is it the player's account name you use to talk to someone, and it goes out to whichever character they happen to be playing?

Posted by: Acadian May 30 2015, 04:55 PM

I'm curious about the names too. There's nothing wrong with having 112 Sigrid's running around Skyrim. I would hate to want to name a character Sigrid and have to use Sigrid113.

I mean if you use a common name like Sigrid, you should be one of many. If you use an unusual (for TES) name like Buffy, you should probably be one of several across Tamriel. If you use a rare name like Persephone, you should be one of very few. Who cares if there's more than one character with the same name? There are plenty of real folks with the same name running around. I think it is a lot better to let you name your character as you choose and risk having a few by the same name around rather than giving you a 'that name's taken' stoppage.

It is hard to find a straight answer, but from http://www.exploringeso.com/category/character-creation/#.VWni9Ffpx_c it looks like character names have to be unique. So if someone else is already using the name Buffy, no one else can use it.

Edit: I did also note that you can use special characters, and up to four blank spaces in your name. So if Buffy is taken (which I am sure it is), Buffy The Bowgirl probably is not, or Buffy of Bravil, or Buffy The Bravilian Bowgirl. I think there is a 20 character limit though. Persephone is probably taken as well. But Persephone Deadwalker might not be.

So XXX Jerric 6969 it is! laugh.gif

(He's kidding.) (I hope.)

On the names: I don't really know, but I tried to use Misa and it was taken, so I put in Misa Li and it was accepted. So I think you are correct, using any variation would work.

On the Chat Box - I did learn yesterday that you can adjust the size and transparency of the text to your liking:

Communicating with Other Players:

/say sends the message to players in close proximity
/party sends the message to players in your party
/zone sends the message to all players in the zone
/tell sends a private chat message to the indicated player
/guild 1 or /g1 sends the message to the first guild you’ve joined. If you join multiple guilds, you can use the numbers 2-5 to speak to your other guilds (ex. /guild 2 or /g2).

This is how it shows on screen:

That link you posted is a fantastic two page article on the character creation once you get down to it; really informative! I saved the link for my own use, thank you for posting that!

OK, I think I missed a major development. So now you can explore all of the provinces with a single character of any race, despite the whole war/faction situation? Is that what all of this Tamriel Unlimited business means?

Finally got the answer to this - YES! You finish up the quests in your race/Alliance's territory; that is where you join any guilds you are going to join like Mages and Fighters Guilds, etc - do all those quests and any side/misc/random quests you want to do.

THEN you can go to the other Alliance territories and do all their misc/side/random quests! (You can't do any of their main quests or Guild Quests outside of your own territory; but you can do any misc/random/side quests all across Tamriel !!!!!!

So YEAH !!!!!!

MALX, that's wonderful news that you can explore all the provinces. I'm guessing staying out of Cyrodiil will keep you out of PVP stuff. Thanks again for being a guinea pig / squirrel and adventuring all this stuff out for us! tongue.gif

That’s great news and great information. Thanks, mALX!

I wonder how typing all of that chat stuff will work on the consoles if you’re just using a controller. Maybe it will be cumbersome enough to keep disruptions to a minimum. hehe.gif

I watched a short ranger build video that stayed on the character’s skills page, whatever that’s called. I liked the interface. Just looking at it made the whole process seem less complicated.

From what I have seen and heard, ESO for the consoles will be just like their other online multiplayer games have always been - using your headset and microphone (that comes with the console) to talk to the other Players.

On the PC that talking option is available (at no cost), but not included in the game, only the chatbox is included in the game. Last night I used my son's headset and mike and actually talked to the other Player that was helping me learn, and I learned a heck of a lot more that way.

The way it worked when my son played Halo/Call of Duty/etc - each party (and it can be only one or two players who are friends if you are wanting to solo it overall like I'm doing) - each party has their own chat "room" where when you speak over your headset - only those in your party can hear it to respond, (and you can only hear the members of your own party talking too, you can't hear any other player talking unless they are in your party).

I think a lot of people use third party voice chats with ESO, like Skype or Teamspeak.

I added TeamSpeak last night, it was easy to set up and works very well. It was surprisingly comfortable to play with the headset (while talking and listening); and much easier than using the chat box; although either is good to talk to friends.

I learned in order to speak on the chat box you have to type /say (space) and then type your message.

Here is a very short and basic explanation of how skills lines and progression work: http://www.esomasteryguides.com/skill-lines/. You have to page down past the huge ad.

Posted by: SubRosa Jun 1 2015, 04:51 PM

So do I understand correctly that you can only use a skill that you put in your hotbar? Even the passive skills? So if you have more skills that hotbar slots, you basically just wasted all the extra ones (anything more than 5 active and 4 passive skills?)

Posted by: Grits Jun 1 2015, 05:10 PM

Not really wasted, as you can change which abilities you have in your hotbar. So if I have certain skills loaded for exploring a dungeon myself, I can later change to a more specialized skill set that puts me in a specific role for a group adventure as long as I have those skills. I’d don’t like it, but I’d guess it’s another limitation of MMOs.

I think I’m going to try this some time after June 9. I’d buy the Explorer pack or whatever lets you join any faction as any race if I was going to play on my laptop, but I’ll just use the factions that the regular game allows on the PS4. One character for each faction to see as much as I can see, for as long as I can put up with the unwashed horde of other players my fellow adventurers. laugh.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Jun 1 2015, 05:58 PM

If I read correctly though, you cannot change your hotbar while in combat. So before every fight you have to know what skills you are going to be need in that fight. Say you select your fire attack, and end up fighting a creature with a resistance to fire. You have a frost attack too, but you didn't slot it because your crystal ball is in the shop being polished. So now you cannot use a skill you have, when you need it most?

Or am I understanding it wrong?

TBH, the more I read about the classes and skills, the less and less this looks and feels like an Elder Scrolls game. The more and more I feel like I would not like actually playing it at all, even if it was a single player game.

Posted by: Grits Jun 1 2015, 06:10 PM

Yes, that’s how I read it, too. So if for example Jerric had a hotbar with frost magic as his ranged attack and found himself in combat with something that was frost resistant, he could switch to his backup hotbar by switching weapons mid-combat but not stop to load something different to replace the frost staff in his first hotbar until the fight was over.

To be honest there’s not a thing I find appealing about the combat system. I wouldn’t touch this game if it wasn’t Tamriel. It’s just a matter of what I’m willing to put up with so I can see some new areas and possibly some day actually meet up with friends.

I also had a thought about the animations. I’ve noticed that everyone seems to keep up with the group, and there’s sort of an odd hopping look to the running characters. So if Lil is as short petite as she should be, will she make tremendous leaps while running to keep pace with her long-legged companions? biggrin.gif

In the beginning of the game you have 5 "hot keys" (and one ultimate) that you can add any spells that need activating (like destruction, conjuration, healing, shield, stealth enhancing spells, etc.

The skill points you use in your hot bar are more like perks and/or spells. You have the skills and abilities, these are just special bonus powers earned that you have chosen to place your skill point on.

They are accrued just like the article Grits's link described; your skill grows but in addition you gain about one skill point per level up in normal gameplay (just like getting one perk on leveling up in Fallout games).

Well, when you reach level (5 or 10, I don't know which) they add another hot bar with 5 more hot keys and another Ultimate power.

You can switch between hot bars on the fly - so you can add all your destruction on one and healing on the other; or all your mage skills on one and all your archery or melee skills on the other; etc.

It gives you a way to keep your special powers organized, and is extremely quick to switch between them, my friend was showing me his character switching back and forth repeatedly in split seconds from one hot bar to the other.

This is where you put your most powerful spell weapons, but some of your passive skills can affect everything about your combat; so these may be passive but you want to place them on your bar so they can be cast with the other spells as you cast them.

Example: There is one heavy armor passive that changes the shield value of every piece of equipment you are wearing and creates a force field around you in combat. Well, you have to be level 22 to use a skill point to gain this perk, and I'm at level 3 in Heavy Armor; so I have to wear at least one piece of heavy armor in my adventures till my heavy armor skill reaches level 22 and then I am getting that perk. After that, I don't have to wear heavy armor anymore, but I will always have that perk.

Each skill you have has its own leveling bar with a number in front of it - that number and bar tells you where you are in that particular skill and how close you are to leveling up in that particular skill (just like in Oblivion skill pages, only in ESO each skill has its own little window to view its stats).

You can raise these skills by doing the skill; and that has nothing to do with the hot bar - that hot bar is just for using special bonus perks you have gained (and selected yourself) to add to you combat bag of tricks.

Changing weapons is very quick and easy, I watched my friend change repeatedly back and forth from a frost staff to an axe in split seconds.

On the running and jumping - I think they are showing off, my son did that a lot in Oblivion too. You have to hit the space bar to jump, so they are doing that deliberately.

One thing I have noticed and I don't know what I'm doing to cause it is - sometimes Misa goes into a running tumble/summersault type of thing - like they had in Oblivion, but this one is forward instead of side to side.

I know I am the one causing it, but don't know what I am pressing that is doing it.

Oh, I see the line you are talking about in that article:

QUOTE

The Hotbar allows you to pick and choose which skills will best serve you for the situation you’re in, meaning you’re never limited to just the handful of skills you picked for your first skirmish.

Up to 5 Active skills can be placed on the Hotbar at one time, with an additional slot reserved for an Ultimate skill, and you can swap those skills before and after combat.

What he is talking about here is in setting up the different perks and spells on your hot bar - you won't be able to stop in the middle of battle and change that.

When you level up you get the opportunity to spend your leveling up point on whatever attribute you want first (Magicka, Health, or Stamina); then you have a skill point given to select a perk you want in one of your skill sets.

By leveling up you will have unlocked some new perks in each skill that you have used and gained skill in (that skill bar I was talking about above this post).

So you go over all your skills and see which perks have been opened up for selection by you - and you choose which one you want best (just like in Fallout/Skyrim games, except the UI Screen looks different).

Now your hot key bar holds 5, you have to have reached level 5 to fill all those slots since you only get one per level up. But you can have any combination of these powerful spells in those slots.

These are special tricks you have that give you an advantage in combat. The ones you choose to hot key are the ones that you feel like suit your combat style at any time, like if you are a mage/archer you will probably want some better destruction perks attached to your mage staff weapon and weapon based perks attached to your bow.

Mage stuff: I got 4 mage staffs before leaving Cold Harbour just by killing beasts in that river: One is lightning, one is frost, one is fire, and one is healing. I also found three greatswords, an axe, and a maul.

Well, I'm level 4 now, so I got four skill points to distribute when I leveled up. I put two into destruction magic (one from Aedric Spear and one from Dawn's Wrath), one into a 2-handed weapon perk; and one into an armor perk. I have another slot left for when I level up next, and an opening for an ultimate whenever I get skilled enough to get one.

You are always playing with your skills, these are just bonus perks that enhance your abilities when facing stronger opponents. I haven't actually even hit a hot key yet, but intend to try these spells out - not just to see them in action; but like in the Fallout games = the more you use a skill the more perk options will be unlocked for you to choose from.

And as you grow and learn more, you may decide different perks may work better for you; so when you aren't in combat you may want to change over one you have selected for your hot bar to a different choice.

But soon you get your second hot bar, and then you can have all of your perks up to 10 plus 2 Ultimates - then you may want to sift through them and if you see one you didn't use as much or didn't work for your particular style - when you are sorting out and organizing your bar you may decide to switch it out if you have more than 10 to choose from.

The hot bar is no different than using hot keys in Oblivion - you only had like 8 hot keys there.

Here you have 5 to begin with, (plus an ultimate power hot key); and then soon you will have 10 hot keys (and two Ultimate power hot keys) to work with.

I think in that article that they didn't explain it clearly (1) and (2) = that article was written on info before the game was released, he mentions or alludes to that several times in the article.

sounds like pretty standard MMORPG set up, what with the hotkeys and stuff. Near identical to the way Guild Wars 2 does things from the way you're describing it.

It'll be interesting to see how that carries over to consoles. It'll be difficult to have fast-paced combat if I keep having to bring up a skill menu like in Skyrim.

As for chat, it's not something I ever use. Consoles will almost certainly have the voice chat, but some console MMO's like Warframe have a chat log too. Given the time it takes to type anything on a console I think it's a bit pointless, but hey ho.

Hopefully player housing will be implemented soon. It's something that other MMORPG's have been doing for ages. I'll be very disappointed if Haa-Rei can't get a cosy cottage in Black Marsh at some point in the future tongue.gif

Let me research that and find out, because I think spells are different than hot keys - the hot keys might just be used to change spells on the fly just like they were in Oblivion, or they may be totally separate and you have to access them like in Skyrim - I don't know.

All I know is that the way to switch between the hot key pads is to change your weapon to the one bound to the other hot key pad.

Okay, I'm trying to find out what I can about spells and staffs. So far this is what I have found:

Copied from an article:

In Skyrim, you "held" magic in one or both hands. You could not have a weapon equipped in a hand you intend to use magic with.

Magic in ESO will behave much more like Oblivion wherein you can still cast a fireball from a hand with a sword or bow in it.

Staffs will work similar to the way they did in Skyrim, except now in ESO, there is a concept of holding down the attack button with a staff to make the staff cast a more powerful attack.

The only comment I've seen on the magic system in ESO so far is this:

QUOTE

Pretty awesome, and it works just phenomenally!

In this game you have a hot bar linked to your currently equipped weapon. You have 5 slots on your hot bar to put active abilities in these will cost either stamina or magicka to use depending on the ability. There are no long cool downs for abilities but there is usually a short casting animation so you can't spam them as fast as you can hit the hot keys.

At level 15 you unlock the ability to swap between 2 weapons while in combat so you can have up to 10 active abilities available to you.

Out of combat you can freely swap your abilities around.

You get the abilities you slot into your hot bar by unlocking them using skill points from the games skill lines. You get one skill point per level and can find things called mundus stones in the game which allow you to get more skill points.

Customization of abilities is achieved by choosing passive abilities which complement them, and secondly while progressing up skill lines you get at certain points to "morph" abilities.

An example given was turning a direct damage ability into a damage over time ability or making a single target ability have an AoE effect.

Joining the mages guild opens a skill line. Some of the class skill lines offer a selection of abilities that are close. Templars, for example, have a healing skill line, sorcerers get a elemental damage skill line and a summoning skill line.

(Not mentioned was ultimate abilities which are linked to a mechanic called finesse).

And this is an article strictly about a Sorceress/Sorcerer character:

http://www.esosorcerer.com/category/spells/

** Still trying to find a definitive answer about the spells; so far it looks like you can carry a weapon and use a choice of five spells/perks with that weapon; switch weapons and have a choice of five more spells/perks with that weapon.

I know Acadian will like one thing about ESO = Buffy can hold her bow and cast a spell without shouldering the bow; and immediately jump right back into shooting arrows.

Yes, the inability to weld that bow to her left hand so it is always ready for shooting or blocking if needed, and use her right to cycle between nocking arrows and spellcasting has always been my biggest complaint regarding Skyrim.

I know this game is a big financial and hard drive commitment; and because of that it is important to really weigh whether it is worth it to you to commit that much into one game.

I've kind of been going through that too, I mean I bought the game for my son and have been playing a character I added to HIS game without making that commitment for myself. I really wanted to be sure it was something I wanted before investing that kind of money into it.

For me, my son wanted it, and I always give him what he wants. And while he was at work, I asked him if I could test the waters; he left his character gen screen up for me. So I kind of got to test out the game with no commitment whatsoever; only a gift for my son he would have gotten regardless.

(Kind of like how SubRosa got to test out Witcher without a specific investment, so she could walk away if it didn't suit her without suffering a loss).

But for me, it is just really hard to imagine playing any game without SubRosa, because for the past 6 years she has brought so much fun into every game I have played that it felt as if we had actually played it together; and Acadian, Grits, etc - the fun of the playing the games was tripled just by being able to get on here and bounce our experiences and fun off one another.

And to meet Teresa/Persephone/Molly; Buffy; Jerric/Darnand; Haa Rei; etc - to actually see the familiar friends I've known these 6 years - to me it would be totally the most awesome experience ever to meet up here or there in the new world, or possibly clear a dungeon together, etc. - or even just like we've been doing and just share screenshots and stories on here - everything is better when shared with friends.

But I do understand the hesitation to put that much of a commitment into a game until you are sure it will suit you. So I'm trying to dig up every bit of info I can to make sure you are having an informed decision on whether it is worth it to you or not.

(But really hope it ends up being a game you like, because wherever you go you bring fun with you; and to be alone entering a new world just could never meet the same feeling as it has been even on single player games knowing the other friends of ours were there too).

Interesting bit about the soul gems. Didn't use them much in Skyrim so I wouldn't have bothered with them here if you hadn't warned us tongue.gif

I'm assuming Soul Trap is available to every class? I remember reading somewhere that souls are a big deal in ESO so it wouldn't be fair to have mages cornering the market biggrin.gif

Oh good! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT !!!!

Oh, good question. Well, I think everyone can use it because you need them to recharge your weapons; but - truthfully I don't know one way or the other, because my character is Templar (so kind of Mage based).

I'll have to research it.

Okay, they said the soul gems need to be filled from the "Soul magic" line in this article:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Soul_Gems

And THIS article tells about the Soul magic line:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Soul_Magic

The article says that it is available to everyone regardless; but not right away. It becomes available at some time during the main questline - that is good to know, I'm glad you brought that up!

Unfortunately no. Since I’ll be on a PS4 I’ll only be able to connect with PS4 players. And not until midnight tonight. (I just checked and still have a timer.)

So i got ESO for Xbox One, and it came with a code for some free goodies! I get a pet, some treasure maps, and the ability to play any race with any alliance.

Now if only I could get onto the servers and actually play the darn thing... sad.gif

Posted by: Grits Jun 9 2015, 07:39 PM

Yay, congrats! I feel your pain, hazmick. I’ve had big problems today with errors, lag, and getting kicked off only to come back already dead. One quest is going to be a lot harder now due to an error. And possibly Jerric’s health is permanently damaged, since he has no active effects but it won’t fully regenerate. First day fun. biggrin.gif

My kids named the scuttler Pip. We keep losing him! I’m panicking because the lag is making Jerric stand still while I suspect he is dying from foes I can’t see yet, and the kids (who are both old enough to drive and should possibly not be so involved with a scuttler) are yelling WHERE’S PIP!? Relax, Pip is fine. He’s safe in the Collections tab. laugh.gif

Based on that article Jerric is heading back to Davon’s Watch to join the Fighters Guild before he kills any more undead on Bleakrock Isle. Also he needs more lockpicks. So far he has broken them all and not actually opened anything.

I had some fun with two other people taking on a pretty tough skeleton who was guarding a runestone. On first approach Jerric forgot he was wearing his “Hel-lo Ladies” shirt instead of his iron cuirass and learned the hard way what happens when you stay in the red cone and then don’t dodge big lightning attacks. The second time up the stairs a tiny archer was already getting her ass handed to her by the skeleton (floating health bars had mysteriously turned on), so Jerric got its attention and learned the range of his Sun Fire ability only to have a skinny Argonian still in his soul-shriven outfit charge past him and whack it with a giant hammer at the last second. That was hilarious. No one died and they all got their runestones.

Staves are a mystery to me. They don’t seem to need power or use up any magicka. Jerric has six or seven of them. He used a fire one and it seemed powerful, but he put it away because he likes to cast from his hands. Sigh. Maybe he’ll like a frost staff better.

So to the point of this topic, I think after all that there may be an advantage to the presence of other players. tongue.gif

Holding a weapon shouldn't effect (affect?) your casting at all, I have cast even with a two handed weapon like a bow or greatsword - it comes out of your hand underneath the hilt I think, or on the bow she drops the arrow and casts (I think).

I keep running out of lockpicks too, and I don't know how or where they are going. On several occasions Peregrine opened the chests for me and then stepped aside so I could take the loot.

The last dungeon you do on which you are evacuating the island - check every urn, every one available has lockpicks in it.

(and don't forget to get the SkyShard in that mine when you do that one; it is kind of out of your way, I almost forgot to get it).

Also, in people's houses, mouse over everything because not everything is stealing (like bookshelves with skill books in them, notes you should be reading, etc).

I have been having a LOT of trouble running out of space to carry anything, and there was no bank on that island. I wanted to go back to Davon's Watch and use the bank and buy a backpack so I could carry more items; and sort through the ones I had to remove all the cooking/crafting stuff from the bank - either use it or sell it to quit using up inventory space with it.

I found one recipe, but haven't cooked anything yet.

Oh, what are those red cone and circle things? I have seen them a lot in fights I was in, but didn't know what they were/what it meant.

Posted by: Grits Jun 10 2015, 09:13 PM

Sorry, I meant that the staff is equipped instead of a weapon and the fire comes from the staff. Jerric prefers his Templar hand-cast abilities/spells where you keep your sword and shield equipped and the sunfire comes from his hands. He hasn’t tried to use a Destruction Staff ability/spell yet. I hope that works more like a hand-cast spell while you’re holding the staff.

Apparently lock picks come from general merchants and from looting the containers you find in houses. Jerric has been frustrated that he can’t find any lock picks or provisioning recipes, and provisioning recipes also apparently come from houses. It never crossed his mind to go rifle through people’s cupboards and dressers. *palms face*

There is a bank representative and a pack merchant in the market area of Bleakrock Village. They are both across from the alchemy and enchanting booths. Jerric’s first major purchase was a 10-slot pack from the pack seller.

Thank you for those tips! Jerric has only found one of the Bleakrock Skyshards and hasn’t explored either of those dungeons yet, so he will keep an eye out.

The red cones and circles on the ground are the areas of effect that an enemy is about to fill with your pain if you don’t move or possibly interrupt the attack. I’m not sure how interrupting works. Jerric’s new thing is dodging. He needs to dodge more.

If you are using a destruction staff the magic fire/ice/shock comes out of the end of the wand by pushing the left mouse button, and the spell comes out your hand using the (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) hot keys - so you can press both at once and nail the enemy to the wall before they can do much damage to you.

I'll have to remember to tumble out of those red cones and circles; or at least hit my right mouse button to block the spell - I keep forgetting to do that; and I learned that blocking in Coldharbour, it is what kept me alive in there. Urk.

Not sure how blocking works on the console games, but those spells can be blocked by a Templar.

I kept hearing cats meowing, and yesterday finally saw two cats in ESO! One was outside the door of a house in Daggerfall; all curled up against it like waiting to be let in!

The other was following a Player inside the bank in Davon's Watch. Their meows are so cute - especially if you are looking at them when they do it and see it happen!

They have a fox now too, I saw one waiting outside the smithy in Davon's Watch yesterday morning and Misa petted it!

The pet I've seen the most of is a black jaguar, they seem to be very popular.

Here is a list (and pictures of) some of the current vanity pets:

It took mine all day to download; and I've got the highest speed internet provider I can get without LAN. And my PC has 16 gig RAM; I thought it would download in no time!

Also, it takes more space than they say it will on your hard drive. When I bought the game they said to have at least 100 gig in reserve for it; and right now the patched game and DLC of ESO is taking up like 145 gig.

Hmm. I think its because of the amount of seeders who are downloading it. It helps it go along.

But it is pretty big. Freaks me out.

Ugh, 9GB update. I guess we all get Orsinium on our machines whether we’re going to pay for it and play or not. I still haven’t re-allocated my stuff from the last update. *sigh* Well, now I have plenty of time to read the patch notes while my PS4 sits there humming.

Posted by: mALX Nov 19 2015, 06:03 PM

l haven't played in a month, so it will probably take that long to update. But I did cancel my paid membership. Really have not been into the DLC they have come up with so far; and that is the only reason I paid for the membership in the first place - to test out all the DLC for free and decide whether it was worth buying or not.

I'm not interested in Orsinium; didn't care much for the IC one (though might go down there and nab the skyshards before it gets deleted; they said you do get to keep your rewards from there when you cancel your membership).

That is ridiculous! It is huge! That puts the game way over the 100 gig hard drive space they said to allow. And I don't understand why they need to download it to your PC "Just in case" you decide you want it; it would make a LOT more sense for it only to be downloaded if you purchased it or have a paid membership.

Started the Orsinium DLC today. So far so good.

It adds the region of Wrothgar, which seems to be about the same size as any of the larger regions in the game, though I won't know exactly how big it is until I've been everywhere and discovered all of the locations. At first glance it looks to be about the same size as Stonefalls - maybe a teeny bit bigger.

It looks gorgeous though. Very Skyrim-ish (unsurprisingly) but maybe even more mountainous. Half the map looks snowy, and I'll explore the other half soon. Already seen some cool new critters and met some interesting NPCs.

The actual city of Orsinium is one of the largest cities I've seen in ESO. Looks really cool, and I've already learned a bit about Orc stuff. They even have a museum, which was the first place Haa Rei wanted to visit.

DLC also adds some new weapons and armor apparently, but I'm yet to see any. Haa Rei was very much looking forward to some warm, furry cloaks or something. Perhaps one day. We purchased a Polar Bear mount though, so it's not all bad news.

The area is technically Veteran level 16, but all players are scaled up to Veteran 15 when they enter so you can jump in whenever you want.

Wow, I didn't realize it was adding such a huge explore-able area!

So of turns out that there ARE new crafting styles. Mercenary styles can be found by doing quests for the Undaunted, and the Ancient Orc styles can be found in the two public dungeons in Wrothgar - basically locking it all off for single players.

Fortunately I've managed to find most of the Mercenary styles at various guild traders, and I'm keeping an eye out for Ancient Orc stuff.

Yeah, some of the better rewards are hard to impossible to get without help from friends. There have been several times I have gone in on the coat-tails of a group and just helped them fight if I couldn't find anyone to let me join up with them.

From the screenshots I’ve seen of Orsinium, I think I’d love it. Thank you for sharing your screenshots and experiences, hazmick! I appreciate the time you take very much.

Somehow I had missed the part where you are scaled up to an appropriate level so you can explore before you actually reach the Veteran levels. That’s good news for me with my gazillion low-level characters. laugh.gif

Posted by: hazmick Dec 23 2015, 01:24 AM

Looks like I'm all done with Orsinium in terms of quests. Also done all the delves, explored all the caves etc.

There's still plenty to do, but not for a solo player like me. Might hang around some of the world bosses and hope a party comes through that I can follow.

Very enjoyable DLC. I'd recommend it to anyone who is an ESO fan.

Looking forward to the next DLC (Which is rumored to be released in February), and I still have plenty of stuff to do in Tamriel before then.

I'm so glad you took the time to go through this DLC like you did, it really made me want it - and I wasn't interested at all from the trailers; if it hadn't been for you I would not have been interested at all!

Haa-Rei and I have been taking part in the Cyrodiil PvP over the last few days. I had to re-do all of his skills and stats to better optimise him for the harsh conditions of the Alliance War, but once you get the right character build set up the whole thing is really fun.

The servers are very laggy though, and it's a widespread problem on all platforms that Zenimax have been trying to fix for over a year. The other major problem is a lack of balance in the alliances. One minute your alliance might be doing great, the next - everyone goes offline or more enemy players come online and they sweep across the whole map. There's nothing in place to stop players from switching characters on the fly so you often get people switching to the winning alliance when the tides of battle turn. Personally I think you should be restricted to having one character on each server, and rewards should be given to players who fight for a single alliance for a long time.

The battles themselves are super fun though. Huge sieges and massive melees feel really exciting. Of course there's still PvE in Cyrodiil, and this offers just as many places to explore and people to meet than other zones in the game - just keep an eye out for enemy players while you do so.

We also figured out how to get armour for mounts, but it's going to take a looooong time.

Jerric had a small breakthrough the last time we played. A big issue I have with the game is that Jerric does not have a sense of inhabiting the world. For example he can do a lying down animation at will, but that’s not the same as sleeping. For water he’s been gathering the alchemy water ingredient and then using the Destroy menu option to “drink” it. That’s kind of worse than not drinking water at all. Today he crouched down at a water collection spot, did the scooping animation, and then stood up without collecting the inventory item. Cue smug Nordic grin. It wasn’t there because he drank it. Sometimes it’s the little things. smile.gif

BOLD: This is already the way it is done, you cannot have two player characters of different Alliances on the same Cyrodiil server - I learned that when I tried to bring Calia into Cyrodiil on the same server Misa was there on.

But I am so excited that you are doing the civil war stuff, I did want to try it one day too! Have you captured anyone's Elder Scroll? What kind of changes to your build did you have to make? A friend of mine uses different add-ons for his PvP character.

That scooping motion sounds better, I've been using the drinking animation like she poured it into a cup and drank from the cup; and for sleeping have been climbing onto mats or cots and laying down. What is the code for the scooping water animation? - Oh wait, I know what you are talking about! When you are collecting water for alchemy? Oh, good idea!

(For me) - I find it kind of more immersive to actually see my character sleeping than the (darkened screen effect). That "See You Sleep" mod in Oblivion was one of my absolute favorite mods; so I was really tickled that they incorporated it into ESO.

Here is Misa sleeping at a camp she stopped in at - really wish that letter prompt didn't ruin this screenshot, lol.

Capturing an Elder Scroll is way above a solo players abilities. It takes a big team of skilled players to nab one.

I had to completely re-do Haa-Rei's build. All his attributes, skills, champion points. He's now a stamina build, and relies on critical hits/critical damage and various buffs to keep him alive. Spent ages mooching about the ESO forums to see what abilities other players were using.

Cyrodiil is crazy unbalanced though. Some players are going around doing 20k damage with a single attack, and Haa-Rei only has 20k health. ohmy.gif

He's a sorcerer and an archer, so we can't just dive into big fights. We spend a lot of time in stealth mode, scouting around, and fighting from the relative safety of high castle walls.

That is how that vampire's spell was that hit Misa - and it paralyzed her, she couldn't run away or fight back. Really powerful spell. I have no idea what class of spell that would be or if it was his vampiric powers.

But yeah, if you learn any tips or hints, feel free to post them here at Chorrol in case anyone here wants to try PvP. I have wanted to join the Alliance wars in Cyrodiil further on down the road, just not till I've done everything else in Cyrodiil and maybe after I've beaten the main quest or something.

I just like the graphics, the lighting effects on the environments like mountains as well as the moon really nice attention to detail. Also the vast exploration and questing that has purpose , you wouldn't believe the bashing I've done to Wow because of TESO. In Wow the quest where pointless, go here kill, go here get item, go here kill bad guy and get their head rinse lather and repeat, that gets tedious and boring quick. At least in TESO when you do a quest there's a story and reason for doing it. In all I fell in love with the game since day one and always find ways of coming back happy.gif.

tbh even though I still don't like how much the art style deviates from the TES "aesthetic" (though I have grown used to it, somewhat) ESO's one of my favorite TES games so far. Overall it has to be Oblivion (another one that deviates from the traditional style), but ESO serves my play style better than the single-player games ever could. Thanks in large part to the account-wide bank. I'll be really happy if crafting quests and the character creator made their way into the single-player games.

Khajiit just always looked at it like "It's a different era than what we are accustomed to with the 3rd Era games, so the aesthetics may be a bit different.".

Posted by: RaderOfTheLostArk Sep 23 2017, 03:29 AM

My personal favorites are a tie between Morrowind and Skyrim (which is blasphemy in some parts of the Internet). Yet there has not been a TES game that I have beaten or played extensively that I disliked, although there were variations in the level of enjoyment. I wonder if Battlespire will change that, whenever I get around to it. But I have gotten tired of TES recently, so I have taken a break from it and gone to other games. Still doesn't stop me from enjoying talking about the series though. It is my favorite after all.

ESO, like all the other games, has some things I like in it more than the other games, and some less. There are legitimate criticisms to be made, but unfortunately those tend to be suffocated by buffoons on the Internet who just want to mindlessly bash something because they're a "real gamer" or they spout off something that they heard, etc. I have no problem with someone disliking or even hating the game, as long as they aren't being a troll...

Sorry, bit of a tangent there. The Internet as a whole has been annoying the hell out of me more lately.

As much as I enjoy ESO and think it brings a lot of good things to the table, it doesn't quite do it for me the way some other TES games have. And that's not entirely its fault, given the limitations of the MMO genre compared to a typical TES game.

Never played WOW, and never really cared to. The only other MMO besides ESO that really caught my interest was RuneScape, and thanks in large part to playing it in my middle school years where I had very little responsibility that game probably has the most hours ever logged by me in a game.

Khajiit played WOW for a few months last decade. It got old quick. ESO does a lot better job of holding this ones attention, probably because of the sheer amount of content you can get done solo. Also, Khajiit likes the festivals and such as they feel like rewards for playing the game.

No, I don't mind the rubedite coloring at all - the iron one seems to be higher res and has much more detail than the rubedite one = you would think it would be the opposite!

Although = we should move this topic off the Guild page, lol.

Yeah this one thinks it's just that the patterns show up better on the lighter colored blade, whereas they get lost in the darker color of the rubedite. If you look at the Rubedite version of the sword a few posts back you can see that the patterns are there, just not as obvious.

Yes, maybe it would have looked better if they hadn't used the same color for the leather strapping on the hilt; but to me the resolution looks higher on the iron; the rubedite looks a bit blurry to me. I do like the red color though. (and the Hollowjack glows a bit red too!)

Khajiit really wishes they would make a dyeing function for weapons. Blade, guard and pommel, handle. In the case of non sword weapons it would be business bit (mace head, axe blade, etc.), fittings, handle.

Sros M'Kai is where the Guild Hall is; are you on the Console or the PC? If on the Console; you can take a look inside the "Hunding House Palatial Estate" = that is the Guild Hall. We have the inside filled up with attuned tables for almost every set in the game that you can craft. The Courtyard is set up for partying; and the walkway around is set up for Character builds = Mundus stones and training dummies.

Can you take screenshots on a Console? If so, would love to see your character in Stros M'Kai!

The Courtyard is set up for partying; and the walkway around is set up for Character builds = Mundus stones and training dummies.

Can you take screenshots on a Console? If so, would love to see your character in Stros M'Kai!

Sadly, Cainboo is on PS4. No playing with Cainboo sad.gif

I was pretty sure I remembered him saying that, verysad.gif

Do you folks think that they may eventually create a way to harvest the stahlrim style mat so that the Frostcaster motif can be fabricated without mimic stones? Like maybe when/if Solstheim becomes a playable zone?
