True, but I'll be up for another hour and a half or so. Probably only online for the next half hour though. I find I sleep better if I leave off anything with a backlit screen for an hour before going to bed.

I think that´s what they recommend to people who have trouble sleeping. I don´t however so I always jump straight into bed without even letting my monitor cool off

Heh, lucky you. A good chunk of my problem tends to be getting my mind to shut up. having an active imagination can be a bitch sometimes. espeially when you're trying to get to sleep and any stray thought sets it spiralling off.

I do have that problem too sometimes but somehow I´ve learned to shut it off if it goes too far and I begin to analyze etc. Then I go STFU!! and my brain has no choice but to comply out of respect for its owner

So, as we all know, it has been a bad week, following several bad weeks. Which put me in the perfect frame of mind for the following.

(Work cell phone rings)

Me: “(Organization name), this is [treydog], how can I help you?”

Long silence, punctuated by breathing and shuffling of papers.

Me: “This is [treydog], how can I help you?”

Voice (non-North American accent): “Hello? Yes, this is Edward with Microsoft and we are calling about…”

Me (exasperated): “No. You really aren’t. I work as a computer technician and there is no reason Microsoft would be calling me on my WORK phone to talk about my HOME computer. Nice try. Thanks for playing. [Game show buzzer sound].” Click

That is the third or fourth one of those I have gotten. I think next time, I will say: “Oh really? That’s interesting, since I use a MACINTOSH!” I don’t. but hey, one good lie deserves another….

It is probably some test to see how employees respond to determine who will fill the position. Did you ever find out what the call was about? Maybe Microsoft needed their PC fixed, lol. Urk.





I had one call saying they just wanted a few minutes of my time to do a survey - find out what household products I used. I asked them what would I get out of it? Dead silence, then eventually he said ... "Er...nothing."

I told him that the company he was calling for was doing market research, paying him to call me and they would benefit financially from the results of the survey - so either I got paid for my time too, or was not going to participate. He thanked me for my time and got off the phone rather quickly, lol.
