The first story that I was going to write for Tes'Fruum was going to be entitled "Nerevarine and the heart" But it seems that I never got around to it.

And yes, I do realise that this will be third piece I have written in a reasonably short period of time, and the fourth overall. It is, however, the piece that Should be my greatest, I hope.

So, before I finish the piece, which should be at some ungodly hour tonight. I need to go over some quick issues.

1) It involves the N-dude, and thus I may/will have to keep very unspecific when it concerns him/her. I will also have to make up some odd excuses.

2) Part of it chronicles what he/she does. It is, at the very least, a record of the main quest of Morrowind. Again, I will have to be a little unspecific and again make up more excuses in order that it all agrees with what YOU did when you played the Nerevarine. Hopefully, you will be able to say, "yeah I remember doing that" and not "what!? I never did that!".

3) The third and last book is going to be reasonably intellectual-ish. But shouldnt be an issue at all. hopefully it won't

If you want to advise and warn me about anything you may think will become an issue when writing such a book then please tell me as soon as possible.

the piece overall goes like this:

Book 1: Introduction/explanation

Book 2: The story of the Nerevarine

Book 3: The theories, possible aftermath, and warning, by lord Vaan.

It is a subtle prequel to "War of the Wizards"

Later tonight, I shall post the book here.

IMPORTANT NOTE: BELOW is the COMPLETE Story as of MARCH 2006!

QUOTE
I cannot say why This “Nerevarine” came to me to write a book about their story, for I do not know.  It is odd, for while I may be a chronicler, I am certainly not a good one, I have made absolutely no money out of the profession, and instead I was living off my dead uncle’s inheritance when they came to me.  I couldn’t tell what gender they were, they wore a shroud, and their voice was masked.  I hadn’t been following the events in Morrowind myself, despite living there at the time.  It doesn’t matter now anyway, for the Nerevarine took me the liberty of telling me everything, that’s right, everything.  The problem with that, as my new patron Lord Vaan Surethi pointed out to me, is that no-one will believe me, for that matter, they didn’t believe the Nerevarine when they tried to tell them certain parts.

It is quite a curse indeed, having written possibly the most revealing book in all of Morrowind and yet not being able to publish it for fear of being assassinated by the countless of Dunmer who would inevitably be offended and shocked by what is contained here, add to that the fact that they wouldn’t even believe it anyway, and yes, it is indeed quite a curse.  I originally intended to publish it perhaps in other provinces, but Lord Vaan advised against it, saying “the arm of the hurt and powerful is long, and persistent, it will find you, wherever you are”.  In short, he was telling me that wherever I was the Dunmer would find me and Kill me as revenge.

An explanation is needed perhaps, of who my patron, Lord Vaan, is.  He is the only person whom I entrusted to read the contents of this story, and upon doing so, he formulated a plan, a theory, which he promises me may soon become a theorem. I shall include more on him and his theories later.

The Book is in fact three books, Lord Vaan said that it was easier to digest that way, for him at least, since no-one would or should be reading in it in the near future.  The first book is the introduction.  The second book is the story itself.  The third and final book is written almost entirely by Vaan, it contains his theories on the events, and I shall warn you now that they are a little disturbing.

I think that wraps up the introduction, onto the second book.

QUOTE
[Foreword: This book is severely incomplete, it appears that this book has been taken apart and not put back again.  We can presume that Vaan did this for research purposes, and copied the original.  Unfortunately, the original complete piece is nowhere to be found.  Nevertheless, enough information is in here to raise eyebrows.]

The Second Book:

[In this book, many pages have been removed, torn out, and paragraphs blacked out, this is possibly because of the fact that Vaan removed all parts not relevant to his Theories, since no-one else is supposed to read these books, it is understandable, besides, there are a few official records that detail the things that Vaan has removed]

Part 1, Destroying Dagoth Ur.
In the waning years of the Third Era of Tamriel, a prisoner born on a certain day to uncertain parents was sent under guard, without explanation, to Morrowind, ignorant of the role they were to play in that nation's history.    They arrived off a prison ship at Seyda Neen, a small fishing port in the South of Vvardenfell.
They soon reported to Caius Cosades, A member of the blades in Vvardenfell, stationed at Balmora.  From here they are made a member of the blades and collect much Information concerning the “Sixth House” and the “Nerevarine Prophecies”

The Nerevarine then has a disturbing dream: “I had a disturbing dream. I can only recall one part. A tall figure with a golden mask led me among the dead as through a wedding celebration. I heard many voices, but no lips moved. I strained to breathe, but my chest didn't move. The tall figure spoke with each figure as he passed among them, laughing and joking, as if they were alive, but they made no reply. I tried to cry out, but without breath, my tongue fluttered in vain.”  Those are the exact words that the Nerevarine described it in.

[A large part here is obviously missing]

The Nerevarine soon made their way to the Urshilaku camp of the ash Landers.  And here talked with their wise-woman, who at the time was Nibani Maesa, who was to test them against the Nerevarine Prophecies.  She had the following to say:

"Ask me of these things. If you are patient. If you would be wise. Or, if you are impatient to know, just ask: 'Do I pass the test of the Nerevarine prophecies?' Go ahead, outlander. I am the wise woman. Ask your questions. And I will answer."

[Chunk missing]

"If what you say is true, you are indeed born on a certain day of uncertain parents. This is part of the prophecy. But many have the same birthday, and many are not sure of their parents. It is interesting. But it does not make you the Nerevarine."

[chunk missing]

"Legend says Indoril Nerevar's family standard bore the moon and star, and Nerevar's armor and weapons bore this sign. Some say he bore a moon-and-star birthmark. Some say he has a magic ring marked with a moon-and-star. Others say he was born under a moon-and-star. In any case, I think the moon-and-star is the mark of the Nerevarine, and you do not have this mark. So you are not the Nerevarine."

[chunk missing]

"Rumors say that in the towns, mad cultists called "sleepers" are attacking people, saying that Dagoth Ur has awakened, and will drive the outlanders from Morrowind. Perhaps it is just a coincidence. But I think it is a sign of the Nerevarine. Not necessarily a sign that YOU are the Nerevarine. Perhaps the time of the Nerevarine has come. And you have come at the same time. This is not passing a test. But it may mean you have some part to play in the coming of the Nerevarine."

[Chunk missing]

"It is another Ashlander prophecy of the Nerevarine. It is called "The Seven Curses of the Sharmat." But I do not know it, and I know no one who does. It may be lost. Such things happen. A wise woman dies, or forgets, or a clan is wiped out. Perhaps someone knows, but is keeping it secret. Perhaps it is in one of those many books of your settled peoples. I have heard that the Dissident priests of the Temple may have such books."

[Chunk missing]

"This is the best known of the Nerevarine prophecies. We call it 'The Stranger'."
"When earth is sundered, and skies choked black,
and sleepers serve the seven curses,
to the hearth there comes a stranger,
Journeyed far 'neath moon and star.
Though stark-born to sire uncertain
His aspect marks his certain fate.
Wicked stalk him, righteous curse him.
Prophets speak, but all deny.
Many trials make manifest
the stranger's fate, the curses' bane.
Many touchstones try the stranger.
Many fall, but one remains.”
:the Seven Visions:
"The full title of the prophecy is "Seven Visions of Seven Trials of the Incarnate". Listen, and I will tell you the verses."
"Seven trials
What he puts his hand to, that shall be done.
What is left undone, that shall be done.
First trial
On a certain day to uncertain parents
Incarnate moon and star reborn.
Second trial
Neither blight nor age can harm him.
The Curse-of-Flesh before him flies.
Third trial
In caverns dark Azura's eye sees
and makes to shine the moon and star.
Fourth trial
A stranger's voice unites the Houses.
Three Halls call him Hortator.
Fifth trial
A stranger's hand unites the Velothi.
Four Tribes call him Nerevarine.
Sixth trial
He honors blood of the tribe unmourned.
He eats their sin, and is reborn.
Seventh trial
His mercy frees the cursed false gods,
Binds the broken, redeems the mad.
One destiny
He speaks the law for Veloth's people.
He speaks for their land, and names them great."
"What does this prophecy mean? It tells us who the Nerevarine will be, and the trials he must undergo before he fulfills his destiny. Some parts I understand. Some parts I do not. I will answer your questions as best I can. But I cannot pretend to understand it all."

[chunk missing]

"You are not the Nerevarine. You are one who may become the Nerevarine. It is a puzzle, and a hard one. But you have found some of the pieces, and you may find more. Do you choose to be the Nerevarine? Then seek the lost prophecies among the Dissident priests of the Temple. Find the lost prophecies, bring them to me, and I will be your guide. And take these copies of the Stranger and the Seven Visions. Now. I have told you all I know. Go. Think on what I've told you. And do what must be done."

[A part here is missing]

The Nerevarine headed back to Caius Cosades, And was instructed to cleanse a sixth house shrine, however, in doing this, The Nerevarine was cursed with the now extinct “divine disease”, otherwise known as corprus.
He headed to Tel Fyr, where Lord Fyr offered to cure him, he did so, and yet the odd thing is that the mixture used to cure The Nerevarine did not work on any of the other patients.  How very odd.

[A large chunk here is missing]

The Nerevarine held Council with Vivec himself, and they talked of many things, mostly to do with destroying Dagoth Ur,

[Another Chunk here is missing]

In regard to this, Vivec said: "The sin of the Dwemer was the creation of a new god from the substance of a dead god, Lorkhan. That is also the sin for which we would destroy Dagoth Ur. I hesitate to call it 'sin'. More properly, call it 'destructive evil'. The sin of the Tribunal, however, is in the breaking of an oath to Azura to forebear from tapping the Heart with Kagrenac's tools, and in the folly of seeking to become gods. Breaking the oath was evil. Becoming gods was folly. If we sinned, we have paid the price."
[A chunk here is missing]
"Why did I try to kill you? Because you threatened the faith of my followers, and I needed their faith to hold back the darkness. And I thought you were my enemy -- a pawn of the subtle Daedra Lord Azura, or a pawn of Emperor Uriel Septim, or a simple fraud -- perhaps a Hero -- but not much of one if my faithful could destroy you. Now circumstances are altered. I need you, and you need me."
[A chunk here is missing]
"Along with Lord Nerevar, and at his insistence, Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and I swore before our god of oaths at the time, the Daedra Lord Azura, never to employ the tools of Kagrenac for any purpose. We broke our oaths. We turned our backs on the old gods. I still see no compelling reason to worship any of the Aedra or Daedra. But, for the respect I held for Nerevar, and the respect I held for myself, I should never have betrayed my oath. Of all my life's actions, I most regret that failure."
[A chunk here is missing]
"Why did I cause others to suffer? I respect that question, and you for it. The most I can say is: I did the best I could, as I saw things. Can you, mortal, presume to judge the actions and motives of a god? But, because I need you, and you need me, I will make an accounting for my sins, to you. But not now. Destroy Dagoth Ur, and then we will discuss my sins. Then, perhaps, you will have earned the right to judge me."

[A large chunk here is missing]

Upon entering Ghostgate, The Nerevarine Met an Old Legionnaire called Wulf, who said the following:
"The Emperor is getting old. Don't know how much longer he'll hang on. So is the whole Empire, for that matter. Getting old, that is. The Emperor and the legions have held the Empire together for hundreds of years. It's been a good thing, by and large. But maybe it's time for a change. Time for something young and new. What? No idea. Because I'm old. Old dog doesn't get new ideas. But maybe young folks like you should try some new ideas. I don't know. Could be messy. But change is never pretty."
[A very large chunk here is missing]
And then, Having defeated Dagoth Ur, the Nerevarine met Azura for the first time, she said to him:
"You no longer bear the burden of prophecy.
You have achieved your destiny.
You are free.
The doomed Dwemer's folly, Lord Dagoth's temptation,
the Tribunal's seduction, the god's heart freed,
the prophecy fulfilled.
All fates sealed and sins redeemed.
If you have pity, mourn the loss, but let the weeping cease.
The Blight is gone, and the sun's golden honey gilds the land.
Hail savior, Hortator, and Nerevarine.
Your people look to you for protection.
Monster and villains great and small still threaten the people of Vvardenfell.
Enemies and evils abound, yet indomitable will might rid Morrowind of all its ills.
For you, our thanks and blessings; our gift and token given.
Come; take this thing from the hand of god."

[A chunk here is missing]

Part 2, Mournhold.
[Most of this has been torn out or is missing, only one part remains]
"Nerevarine. Here it ends. This Clockwork City was to be your death. You were to be my greatest martyr! The heroic Nerevarine, sacrificing all to protect Morrowind from the mad Sotha Sil. But you live! You live!
Fear not. I will tell the tale myself when this is done. I will tell my people how with your dying breath you proclaimed your devotion to me, the one true god. Your death will end this prophecy and unite my people again under one god, one faith, one rule by my divine law. The puppet king will lay down his arms and bow to my will. Those who do not yield will be destroyed.
The Mazed Band has allowed me to travel to this place. Here, I slew Sotha Sil. Here, I summoned the Fabricants to attack Mournhold. I will be the savior of my people! I alone will be their salvation!
None may stand in my way. Not you, and certainly not Vivec. He is a poet, a fool. I will deal with him when I have finished with you. And Sotha Sil...he always thought himself our better, shunning us, locking himself in this hole. He spoke not a word as he died. Not a whisper. Even in death, he mocked me with his silence! But I think you will scream, mortal. For now, you face the one true god."
However, The Nerevarine killed Almalexia, and upon doing so, returned to Mournhold, where Azura came once again, and said:
" You have done well, mortal. The death of Almalexia is a boon for all of Morrowind, though it may take time for this to be understood. She would have betrayed the Dunmer as surely as she betrayed all those she loved. This was her curse, and this was her undoing.
Weep not for Sotha Sil. He shed his mortality long ago, and I am certain his death was no small relief to him. These gods lived with the burden of a power no mortal was meant to possess.
Your work in Morrowind is not finished, Nerevarine. Vivec still lives, but I believe his time grows short. Protect my people. Defend these lands. The skies of Mournhold are clear once again. Let these people suffer no longer. Now go, mortal. Embrace your destiny, and go with my blessing. "
Part 3, Solstheim:
[Here the book ends, you notice several pages ripped out, clearly the story of “Solstheim” Was once written here, but Vaan must have taken it out.]

QUOTE
The Third Book:

Having chronicled the Story of the Nerevarine, I Headed out to find someone who would believe it, and hopefully provide me with the money to publish it.  Initially, there was no-one, but soon, the most unexpected of all people came to light.  This person’s existence came to my knowledge when I was at the Black Shalk corner club, in the foreign quarter of Vivec.  One of Ordinators was lecturing a Bosmer on how all the Dunmer would kill anyone who insulted the Almsivi, “save for one”.  I am not sure whether the Ordinator was telling the truth about the killing part (I was hoping he wasn’t, since it seemed somewhat relevant to me)  That moment was the first dampening of my spirits,  But I gathered up my brave self, stood up, and tapped the Ordinators shoulder, requesting his attention.
“What is it Citizen?” He asked.
“Well, you just said that…..there was one Dunmer who….” I stammered
“I know what I said.” Replied the Ordinator
“Well, can I ask who it is?” I inquired, putting on an innocent smile.
“He goes by the name of Vaan, he was an ex-Ordinator, worked with the Inquisition to persecute the Dissident priests, he quit after the Nerevarine came, I think he lives in Port Telvanni now.  He’s into Philosophy, so he will listen to anyone’s view, regardless of what it might be.”
“Thank you” I said, doubtful.  The Ordinator nodded once:
“Faith, Law, and Justice, move on citizen”
Well, my spirit’s weren’t quite relieved by that either, an ex-Ordinator?  I was beginning to lose hope.  Nevertheless, I made my way to Port Telvanni.
The city turned out to be just beautiful; it was a maze of walkways and spires, all organically grown from mushrooms or something like that.  But I didn’t have time to gaze; I had been given some directions to the Vaanic Manor.  It must’ve taken me a little while to find it, since the city was a very confusing place.  Nevertheless, I Soon found my way to a magnificent manor, which was high up in the city.  Upon knocking, I found myself warmly greeted by a Dunmer who had long silver hair, reminiscent of ancient peoples, but his face……looked that of a middle aged man, I at once suspected some Telvanni Life-elongating Magicks at play. I did not browse on the thought though, as I was ushered inside.
I found myself inside a Spacious Hall with rich furnishings.  Vaan sat me down on a chair and spoke:
“Yes, Cyrodill, I see you have a book under your arm, what is that you require of me?”
I was quite amazed at his no-nonsense attitude, and I replied “Well, I am looking for someone to provide the money for this book to be published, It is a very….”
I was cut off at that moment by Vaan, who held his hand out for Silence, he then gestured for me to give the book to him, which I did willingly.  He started reading it, leaving me to sit there.
It was about an hour later that he finished, his face had a look of shock on it.  And he said simply:  “This will not publish”.  My heart sank, but before I could anything he smiled at me and finished his sentence “yet.”  I smiled back weakly.
“I propose you this Cyrodill” He said, “You lend me this book, And I will double it’s value, In return I will be your patron, paying for your living, a good deal?”
I smiled, “Yes, Patron.”
He allowed me the use of his Guest room for the night, while he himself would be in the study, “Doing Something”, hopefully “doubling the value” of the book.  I didn’t however suspect what I got the next morning.
In the study, lay two large pieces of paper, each with various scribblings on them.  Behind the desk upon which they lay, sat Vaan, smiling to himself.  “When The Dunmer finally accept the truth, this book will sell like ebony.” He said softly, without moving, I shuffled over to the desk, to see what he had written.  What I saw amazed me, He had taken the three parts of my story and written two theories about them, revealing the true meaning behind the tale!
I nodded my head slowly, mouth agape.…..”Yes, it will sell…..”

:The First Vaanic Theory:

The Dwarves disappeared.  Why?  Is it because the Chimer united to destroy them?  Because Kagrenac made a mistake when tampering with the heart, or because he truly succeeded in ascending to godhood? No.  It is because they tried to make God, and they failed.  I see a pattern here with recent events.  The Dwarves were in the process of making the First Numidium, when they mysteriously disappeared.  In recent events, Dagoth Ur, A Mad God of sorts, was destroyed, along with his attempted creation, The Second Numidium, which he was in the process of making.  Beginning to see the pattern?  Yes, every time someone has tried to create a god, they have been destroyed, or at least, have been removed from the Mortal plane.
Now we have seen the pattern, perhaps we can learn that creating a god is not to be done.  But who was the perpetrator here?  Who is the one that is destroying those who aspire to be so much more than they are supposed to be?  Well, it could be the Aedra, or the Daedra even, since they have the power to do such things.  Perhaps it is nature itself, un-doing all that is un-natural for the sakes of keeping a balanced world?  Once we see the full picture of the recent events.  It becomes clear.
Once The Nerevarine killed Dagoth Ur, Apparently, Azura came to them and said thus:

"You no longer bear the burden of prophecy.
You have achieved your destiny.
You are free.
The doomed Dwemer's folly, Lord Dagoth's temptation,
the Tribunal's seduction, the god's heart freed,
the prophecy fulfilled.
All fates sealed and sins redeemed.
If you have pity, mourn the loss, but let the weeping cease.
The Blight is gone, and the sun's golden honey gilds the land.
Hail saviour, Hortator, and Nerevarine.

At first it suggests little, Azura was simply rewarding the Nerevarine for their good deed.  But something isn’t right.  Azura regards the Dwemer’s actions as a “Folly”, being a Daedra, she could mean a lot of things by this, but a “Folly” can be understood as perilously or criminally foolish action.  Well, well, it seems Azura wasn’t too fond of what the Dwemer did.  Was she jealous perhaps?  Jealous enough to destroy a whole Race? I think so, after all, she is a Daedra, and no matter how much we Dunmer love her, she can do anything to us, even evil deeds.  But hang on, If she hates other’s ascending to godhood, what about the Tribunal?  Well.  She really pulled out all the stops for them.  The Nerevarine Killed Almalexia, and found Sotha-Sil dead.  And at the end of that, Azura came once more and said:

“You have done well, mortal.

Well, I shall just highlight one part again “Your work in Morrowind is not finished, Nerevarine. Vivec still lives” Well, it seems here that Azura wished for The Nerevarine to Kill Vivec, after having had Almalexia and Sotha-Sil killed.  It seems that the Nerevarine was, and is, a Pawn of Azura’s will.  Poor person, doing the will of such an evil thing.  The Dunmer have now lost those who loved and protected them, and all because some selfish Daedra didn’t want Mortals to be like her.
  Daedra can be called good or evil, but when it all boils down, they are just as bad as each other.  When Mortals get too powerful, they swoop down and crush them.  I must grudgingly Admire Azura for her subtle techniques in doing this,  she has tricked the Dunmer into thinking that they are now living in a better world, while secretly she has replaced those who loved and cared for us with vengeful, selfish, uncaring Daedra.  That’s the First Vaanic theory.

:The Second Vaanic Theory:

The Second theory relates to events that happened while the Nerevarine/Pawn of Azura visited Solstheim.  At the end of their visit, they managed to get themselves mixed up in some Bloodmoon prophecy.  A prophecy that says that A Daedra will come down and hunt people, it is done once every era, and if the Daedra is defeated then he is sent away for another era.  Very intriguing stuff indeed, but what does it tell us though?
Well, it is dark.  It tells us of how readily the Daedra come down and fiddle with our mortal lives, play with us, and generally don’t do any good for us at all.  It supports the first theory quite nicely.
So, if Daedra are so ready to fiddle.  What next?  We have seen Azura kill off her competitors, and Hircine have some fun.  And now of course the Pact that Sotha-Sil made is completely void, perhaps Mehrunes Dagon will come down and cause some more trouble for us all.  Or perhaps he won’t?  Who knows?  It could be the case that the idea of mortals becoming Gods has annoyed all the Daedra, and they are all going to punish us in their own little ways.  Wonderful, I think not.

Sweet Pandemonium.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After having Read His Theories, I was quite shocked, but it all made sense, and it all fitted in.  Vaan re-organised the one book into three.  The first two books were simply mine split up.  The third was his own theories, plus a little of my ramblings.  Vaan told me that The Books must be hidden until an appropriate time, I agreed.  Until then He and I are working together to publish some philosophical works of his.  And they are going to quite a success!  He is a much better writer than I am…
Fin.
This is the second part, and some explaining should be done, It is much too much work to chronicle the whole story, Instead I have removed a lot of it, with a good excuse, of course. This Perhaps Renders it a little useless.
If someone wants to go ahead and chronicle the Whole of the 3 main storylines for me, then please do so!
here it is:
