Chorrol.com _ Fan Art _ Because Every Rose Has Its Video

Okay, so maybe I shouldn't quote a Poison song in the title... wink.gif

Since everyone is doing it, I thought I'd post a few vids myself.

This first one was reduced to 640 x 480, as trying to upload it at the original resolution would have taken over 3 hours. This is my current Fallout 3 character Tomoe Gozen. She wears the samurai armor from the Mothership Zeta dlc, and uses the katana from there as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwN1RKvA57E

Tomoe also found a very fun trap next door:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZT5S3SUc2g

I also have an old one I thought I would put up. This video was not created by myself, but rather someone else, who sent it to me and gave me permission to post it. It is from the game Rome Total War, and the mod used in the video is all my work: Amazon Total War. It gives a look at just a small slice of what ATW has to offer, showing a battle between the factions of Amazonia and the Greek Cities.

You desecrated Vault Boy!!! Shame upon you! nono.gif nono.gif nono.gif

Seriously, though, I did like the Manga replacement you got for him. Makes a lot more sense with your character.

That second vid had a very impressive Rube Goldberg set up in it, I have to say. cool.gif

I'd surely get back into Fallout 3 if I wasn't so busy with Oblivion at this point. I'm sure you know that it's been modded to almost the same degree as Oblivion on my PC (though unlike Oblivion, it doesn't take as much modding to get what I want out of the game). That includes my usual faster, more brutal combat (courtesy of Fallout Wanderer's Edition), as well. I've never been able to stomach how long combat takes in vanilla Beth games, I like my combat to be quick, dirty, and unforgiving.

Impressive mods for Fallout. Like TK I'm busy with Oblivion, but that does make me think I should buy Fallout for the PC.

I've never played Rome Total War, but I really liked Medieval II Total War.

GAAAH! It's the Super-Duper Mart !! No, it's Hank's Electrical Supply ?? I've been to the Jury Street area, how did I miss this? Maybe I did see it, it has been years since I played. I loved that Samurai armor, helmet, and sword !!!

The Gold Ribbon Grocer? How did I miss that? Oh wait, I couldn't get into it ... although I didn't think of climbing on the roof, lol. AWESOME explosion !!!! WOO HOO !!!

I see me pulling my game back out and playing to Jury Street again, lol. Jury Street Deathclaws and mutants, here I come !!! Lol. Great vids !!

You did an amazing job on the ATW !!! I liked that in the middle of battle you could hear horses whinnying and see spears that missed their target landing in the water beside the bridge. I liked the Amazon's charge at the finale too !!! Great mod, SubRosa !!!

Toto, I don't think we're in Tamriel! tongue.gif

What a nice place to showcase your vids!

Thomas Kaira: I could not wait to desecrate Vault Boy! I never could stand him.

King Coin: I played RTW for years, created a major conversion mod for it, and was even a mod at a RTW site for a while. But eventually got burned out on it. I never could get into MTW2, the era just does nothing for me.

mALX: You can just walk in the front door of Gold Ribbon Grocer. It is set off a little from the Dot's Diner where the Xaunlong Assault Rifle is, and the metro station. A very neat place!

Acadian: Welcome to the Capital Wasteland!

-------------

Today Tomoe went poking around the ruins of Old Olney. After taking out two deathclaws at the western edge of town, I decided to make some videos as she explored. I originally put them all together into one single file, but found that the quality got seriously degraded. So instead I uploaded each part separately. I left out the boring stuff of looking through crates, and unfortunately missed a couple of surprise! Its a deathclaw behind that door moments. But most of the action was faithfully recorded.

M2TW was great for me because I really liked the factions. I always played as the Germans because they had some seriously strong heavy infantry.

Part 1- .44 Mag FTW my favorite gun in the game. Such a satisfying BAM.
Part2- MORE .44 YES
Part3- casual headshot NICE
Part4- wtflol
Part5 through 9- removed? what?

I had to go back to the originals and brighten them, then reupload them, because you tube made them too dark to see very well.

Posted by: King Coin Apr 28 2011, 03:30 AM

Part5- Casual use of heavy weapons lol. I never used the Fatman in F3 except that 1st behemoth
Part6- Jeez that sucker was only like 10 feet away and you just blast it with the nuke launcher
Part7- A little TOO casual with the heavy weapons eh?
Part8- direct hit!
Part9- Back to the gloomy out doors

I really want to go pick up this game for PC now.

It was one of http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Computer%20Games/Fallout3059.jpg main weapons for half the time I played her.

King Coin: Whenever I read that, I hear it in Glenroy's voice "She's with them, kill her!"

I guess that makes Lucy the Lich of Little Lamplight!

This was the greatest vid EVER !!!

@ Previous vids:

WOO HOO !!! I love Old Olney ... and Blackhawk too !!! Somehow I always end up killing myself with the Fat Man though, my aim is off and I nuke the ground under me instead of where I am aiming. Great Vid !!!

How are you getting those C-4's to work? They never would work for me !!

ROFL !!! The flying Deathclaw glitch !!

Holy Cow! You blew that Fat Man in a tunnel and didn't hit yourself once !! Awesome to see it used in someone's hands that can aim it right !!

I am loving these vids, you are making me homesick for Fallout 3 !!! And I may have to get it for the PC too, I only have it on the 360 right now. Awesome vids !!!

Posted by: SubRosa May 3 2011, 03:37 AM

The Fat Man is not that hard. V.A.T.S. works at short range. At long range you have freehand it, because it always falls to short in V.A.T.S. You just have to watch that nothing jumps in your face while you are shooting! ohmy.gif

C-4's? You mean Bottlecap Mines? They are simple, same as any other mine. The trick is to make sure to keep them between you are whatever is charging at you, so they run right over it.

Next, Tomoe Gozen finishes up the main quest of FO3. That is right, Liberty Prime walks the earth! One of the coolest American robots ever!

my favorite scene in the whole game, following Liberty Prime across the bridge. Not sure, but I think he stepped on Tomoe !!! Awesome vid, you are flat wicked with that Blackhawk !!!

You actually tried to get kills? I'm always lazy in that mission and just walk behind the big mountain of steel. cool.gif

I almost never travel with Fawkes either. He gets all the kills! I usually have Charon and put him in some power armor.

Yeah, I saw the big mutant behind her and went, "GAAAAH!" before I realized it was Fawkes, lol. When she went around the corner toward the bridge to the Jeff Mem - did it not look to you like she got squished by Liberty Prime? It did to me ... twice !!!

Yeah, I screamed like a banshee when Tomoe was shooting at one Deathclaw and then turned around and the other was in her face, lol.

I laid down a raft of those Bottlecap mines around the bridge at Big Town to blow up the Super Mutants that were coming to attack - and they walked right over them and wiped out the town !! I had to reload a save and tried the robots the second time.

King Coin: I didn't want to just do nothing. I had to at least try to shoot someone! Granted, it is fun to just watch Liberty Prime do his thing! biggrin.gif I usually do not travel with any companions. They always get in the way. But I picked up Fawkes after Raven Rock (as usual), and it just felt natural to bring him for the assault.

mALX: If you listen very carefully you can hear Fawkes at the very beginning of the attack saying "There is reason to be cautious." Which is hilarious under the circumstances. No kidding Old Yeller? What gave you that idea?

Thomas Kaira: I just love listening to Liberty Prime. "Democracy is truth! Communism is Death!" biggrin.gif You can tell the devs had a lot of fun writing his lines!

The "Good Karma" ending !! I love the ending of the main quest in Fallout 3, both Raven Rock's implosion and following Liberty Prime to the Jeff Mem - especially on the 360 for those two scenes.

Playing on the 360, where the controller responds to environmental explosions - I had trouble even holding the controller it was vibrating and jumping in my hands almost continuously through both of these scenes in the main questline! I don't know when I've been more excited in any vid game then following Liberty Prime !!

I think for scenes like these it might be preferable to play the game on the 360 for the interactive controller that really brings the scene to life as you feel every explosion and every second of the bumping of your allies as you crowd across that bridge and down under the tunnel.

(haven't gotten to the end battle of New Vegas yet, the game keeps fatally crashing - but I imagine it will be another epic fight with the controller)

These vids of yours are AWESOME !!!

When I first played Fallout 3 I really did not like the ending, mostly because I wasn't expecting it. Now I think it's great to have an end game scripted in like that.

Well that's simply it. Bethesda had to rush the ending because they ran out of development time. That's why Broken Steel came along, because of how sudden the ending to the game really was.

Posted by: SubRosa May 4 2011, 01:35 AM

mALX: I always play good characters. While I don't mind murdering the occasional s.o.b. who has it coming - like Dr. Lesko or Anna Holt - I just cannot bring myself to do the really heinous stuff you need to in order to get bad karma, like blowing up megaton or enslaving people.

I love the FO3 ending too. Liberty Prime is just fantastic. He is the classic Golden Age Sci Fi robot, so cool to look at. Those eyebeams of his make a really cool sound, and the whole idea of a giant robot throwing nuclear bombs is just so insane that it works! Watching him tear up the DC ruins is just tons of fun.

King Coin: A lot of people seemed to complain about Martin being the hero in Oblivion and the player character feeling like a sidekick. So I think they had the player be the one to make the ultimate sacrifice in FO3. Of course that makes the rest of the game kind of hard to play after finishing the main quest... wink.gif But they fixed that with Broken Steel of course. It seems kind of silly to die in the Purifier when you have Fawkes right there, immune to radiation like all super mutants are. But that is Bethesda for you.

Thomas Kaira: So that is why the MQ is so quick? It does go by rather quick. Although it still does seem longer than the MQ of Fallout 1 (which I just got a few days ago). I am not surprised. Publishers always seem to rush devs to release games before their time. Like with KOTOR 2. None of them seem to realize that the better your product, the more of it you will sell.

Next, something rather different. I started a new FO3 character, and plan to do the Pitt with her soon. But for the moment she is still in the Capital Wasteland, scouting for food and chems. Yep, that's right, The Super Duper Mart! She ran into a trio of Talon Company scuzzballs outside, which accounts for her armor. I missed the first minute or so in the mart, then started the camera rolling after I hacked the robot's computer terminal.

You take some odd items. Like the Vodka bottle? And the .32 pistols and Chinese pistols? I never take those. Did you leave the 5.56 ammo behind?

I prefer the game end with your death rather than continuing with Broken Steel. I simply don't do the main quest until my character has explored everything and has done everything that I want to.

Posted by: Thomas Kaira May 4 2011, 02:06 AM

Well, it seems the logical explanation. Every last bit of the main quest up to that point was very well connected and thought out, but then the ending just comes and hits you like a freight truck. It's that fast, and is at huge odds with the pacing of the rest of the game. When the final quest come around, it's just a huge spike in the tension-o-meter. I, myself, thought there was room for at least one more segment between Raven Rock blowing up and the assault on Project Purity.

You know what could have happened? The Enclave could have assaulted the Citadel in retaliation for the loss of Raven Rock, and you, the player would be tasked with making your way through the facility under siege to find and activate Liberty Prime. From there, you would drive the Enclave out of the Citadel with the help of everyone's favorite communist-bustin' robot, and then the final assault would begin. Much better transition, and we get more Liberty Prime action in the bargain. wink.gif

What we got in the actual game, to me, has "oh, crap, we gotta finish this NOW" written all over it. It felt like Bethesda was having so much fun developing everything else, the release date just snuck up on them, and they just cobbled together a quick ending just so the main quest ended with you achieving something. They were simply too focused on the world around the main quest, and forgot about the actual journey.

Posted by: mALX May 4 2011, 08:11 AM

Even though I love Oblivion more than FO3 - I still have to say that I have never found another scene so incredibly exciting in any vid game ever - then following Liberty Prime to that Jeff Mem building. That was the ulitimate experience ever !!

Slave collars:

I thought I could make a fortune enslaving the people that attacked me first - imagine my surprise when I got bad karma for that !!! So other than a few times of using that mez for making people empty their pockets - I never used it.

That guy in Rivet City that sells the guns is one of my fave characters and merchant in the game, I wouldn't have been able to make myself attack him with that slave collar anyway.

I was surprised Anna Holt gave bad karma since she defected to the Enclave, had to reload the save from coming up to that floor and re-do a bunch of sneaking, lol.

Lesko - even though I was dying for his coat, I didn't kill him. He was nice to my character, and I wanted to earn caps selling him fire ant nectar. As it turned out, he glitched and wouldnt' deal with my character so I was unable to get rich. I found out when I was stuck with a bunch of it - that stuff is great fire protection.

I prefer playing the good karma character too, but wanted all the available achievement points on the 360. You don't really have to continue your evil ways to stay a bad karma character - just don't do anything good once you get across that line.

My favorite outfit is Vance's long coat and the Vampire's Edge sword - cleaning out that vampire nest in the train station gives bad karma for the attack on each person and anything you take. Take everything and drop it on the floor in a large area.

If I accidentally got into neutral or good karma - I'd just go pick up those items, then drop them again. Couldn't bring myself to make a lot of the horrible choices that keeping bad karma entailed, lol.

I'm going to watch the vid in the morning so I don't wake the whole house, lol. I'll comment then.

Posted by: SubRosa May 4 2011, 04:29 PM

King Coin: Vodka is liquid caps! It is worth 20 caps, and only weighs 1 lb. I always look at the value/weight ratio when I decide what I pick up. I never bother with conductors, irons, etc... because they weigh too much. I take the little pistols because they are common, so I can pick up a lot of them. Then I combine them all into one by repairing them, and I can easily get 80 or 90 caps for it. That is great for something that weighs only 2 lbs.

Thomas Kaira: I can imagine some other quests that could happen earlier in the MQ as well. There could be a fetch and carry mission to someplace like RobCo to get special parts they need for the mainframe. Then later perhaps a mission to Vault Tec Hq to find out where to get a Geck. Then maybe the Geck is missing from Vault 87, and you find a note saying the super mutants took it to DC, or Germantown, etc... Then you have to race the Enclave to get to it first.

mALX: You can get Lesko's coat without killing him. Just demand more compensation when you talk to him, and he will sweeten the deal by throwing it in with the ant mutation. I had no idea you could sell him the fire ant nectar though!

Bethesda really had their heads up their collective rears when they decided a lot of the karma gain/losses. Like killing Evan King. He murders his parents to drink their blood, but killing him is evil? Or finding a peaceful solution to the ghouls getting into Tenpenny Tower gives you good karma, even though the ghouls murder everyone inside? Yet leading the ghouls in an attack through the basement to slaughter everyone gives you bad karma? I want to knock on the devs heads and ask if anyone is home in there.

I never really thought about just picking things up that are owned and dropping them to keep my karma down. I think it might be easier just to mod the karma system though, to change the amount you get, or the thresholds needed at either end of the spectrum. The game makes is way too easy to be in the good karma, imho. I can see how you get bad karma for nuking megaton. But you really should not get much, if any good karma for disarming the bomb. You are being paid for it after all. It is just a business deal. A pretty simple one too since you only need a 25 in Repair (or less if you use Mentats before trying), and you get a free house. Besides, like Moira says, that bomb never hurt anyone anyway.

You get so much good karma easily that I stopped worrying about the bad karma for killing people like Evan King or Anna Holt will get me. I can make it up just by giving someone purified water if I want to. In that game with Tomoe I killed both, and was still in the sainted territory. I probably would have had to nuke megaton just to get down to neutral.

Posted by: mALX May 4 2011, 05:22 PM

Agree 100% on some of the karma decisions Bethesda made - especially on Tenpenny Tower. That quest just flat made me mad the way the karma was worked. I had cleared out the ghouls, then heard Three Dog on the radio "That evil Wanderer slaughtered those poor ghouls, they're people too..." . So I reloaded an old save and redid the quest, going with the peaceful solution - the ghouls killed everyone, and here comes Three Dog on the radio "That evil Wanderer slaughtered all those nice people..." - he blamed the player for what the ghouls did !!!

I was so ticked off I felt like getting the ghoul mask and then slaughtering them all, ghoul and human, lol. I reloaded that old save and never did that quest then or in future games.

The Megaton home was preferable to me anyway, or using free homes.

Without being able to mod the 360 game, I had to come up with ways I could live with to lower karma at will. Raising is easy between the quests and releasing prisoners/purified water, etc. That chapel in the Rivet City is a great place to donate your way into good karma too, lol.

Fetch quests for the sake of extending the length of the main game is not something I generally support. Done badly, this can be seen as padding the length, which is a no-no in game design (and one Oblivion is shamefully guilty of). However, going to Vault-Tec HQ to find the location of a GECK is something that does make a lot of sense. Perhaps your dad never managed to figure out where to find one? It would also mean another trip into the city ruins (which you only really do once in the MQ).

The third one I have to say I disapprove of that one. That would be a truly pointless detour for the game to take, as it would accomplish absolutely nothing except to annoy the player. The main reason is because I can't see that happening at all, the Muties are too caught up looking for FEV and people to convert into them to care about some random briefcase laying around. Fawkes only cared because she kept her personality when she was turned.

However, on the opposite end of the spectrum, the reason the Vault-Tec idea would work is because of two things: reasonable plausibility, and it would serve as a learning experience for the player (particularly those who didn't have a chance to play the previous two Fallouts). That is a fetch quest that serves a purpose, as it sends the player to an interesting area that allows for the developers to build the atmosphere.

Madness! That weapon doesn't do 35 points too much damage, every other weapon in the game does 35 points too little damage! biggrin.gif

Of course, I like my combat to be quick, dirty, and unforgiving over taking two centuries to finish. It feels a lot more satisfying to win a fight really feeling like your life was on the line. That, and also allowing for the signature god-like feeling when you get to a super-high level and can simply cream those pesky raiders that once terrorized you before.

Posted by: King Coin May 7 2011, 04:07 AM

Spotting a patrol of Talon Company alway brings a smile to my face.

Generally it isn't recommended to run to a confined area when someone's tossing grenades, but it seemed to work out for you.

Your videos are very good. Do you have the full version of Fraps? Different program?

Posted by: SubRosa May 15 2011, 05:32 AM

Thomas Kaira: Most of my gun battles last just a few seconds. That is quick and dirty enough for me!

King Coin: I do have the full-version of FRAPs, but as far as I can tell, the only difference between it and the shareware version is that it allows you to save your screenshots as .jpgs. But it compresses them so much that the quality is noticeably poor. So I still save them at .bmps and convert them to .jpgs myself.

mALX: I had to do a restart of the character from a few levels earlier to get rid of a couple perks that I decided I did not want. So no more Lincoln's Hat. But now that she met Hannibal from the Temple of the Union, she will be going back to the Museum to get it once more. I doubt she will keep it, or the Repeater though.

Next: After returning from The Pitt, Boudica was exploring when she came upon an interesting scene.

The free version only lets you record 30 seconds of video at a time. That's the difference that may make me drop the coin to get. It gets to be a pain having to pause the game all the time so I can reset the recorder.

The first time I saw that I killed both of them and continued on my merry way. So much for the plot huh? Are we going to see more of this quest?

Posted by: mALX May 15 2011, 12:37 PM

I didn't know you could kill them both and get the two costumes - or was it the weapons you can't get without the quest? All I know is, I wanted the Mech's apartment more than the ants's pad, so ended up missing out on the ant girl's costume, and weapon too (I think), lol.

Loved the vid, that is the first time I've seen the shouting between them before they go after each other. Whenever I've started that quest some man has run out to greet me, and by the time he quit jabbering they were already in the middle of fighting each other. It was pretty interesting to see the ants waited till they were commanded to attack.

Just popped in to let you know I'm following your foray into videos. Although I don't expect to ever play FO3, it is fun to see snips of it presented through the eyes of your characters. smile.gif

King Coin: I never tried recording videos with the shareware version. Given how much you use it for video, it is probably worth getting the full version.

I am not going to go any deeper into Canterbury Commons for now. I did it a few weeks ago with Tomoe, and don't want to do the same thing all over again. I only recorded it because that opening confrontation is one of the coolest parts of the game.

mALX: My first time in Canterbury Commons I came in from the opposite end of the city, so I never saw any of the confrontation between the AntAgonizer and the Mechanist. With one of my other characters, I talked the AntAgonizer out of her life of costumed crime, and wore her suit for the rest of the game (I found a mod that replaced the textures with higher-res ones, and tweaked the stats a bit).

If I recall, the ants are not-hostile to you in that encounter. Because I have walked right up to them in the past. It is obviously all scripted. At the higher levels the robots always seem to win, but at the lower levels the ants seem to get the upper hand. Either way, it always ends up the same, with the two of them running out of the town.

Acadian: *waves* Glad to see you popping into the Capital Wasteland. It is an exciting place to visit, but I would not want to live there! Eventually I am sure to get back to Oblivion, and who knows, maybe make some videos of Teresa as she clears out all the Ayleid Ruins in Cyrodiil.

I loved going through those ruins when I played. You got so close to them before that guy saw you. Is that the Preferator? I love that gun, I played the Pitt just for it. My favorite part is when you just step back and let the car blow the raiders to hell. The combat shotgun is just great isn't it? You thought that Flame thrower guy was still alive but the second shot killed him on your way out of the room. I would have taken the flame throwers but I would have stuck with the shotty.

These were great! My first game I made the mistake of trotting into Bethesda thinking (like an idiot) that they would have a Todd Howard, Emil, Pete Hines, etc. - couldn't wait to get in there, so was at a very low level. Not sure how many times I died before I (even reached the building), then cleared the double building out - no Todd Howard, ROFL !!!

I was expecting some easter eggs in there, but if there was I didn't find them.

Posted by: SubRosa May 19 2011, 01:00 AM

King Coin: That is indeed the Perforator. It is my favorite of guns from The Pitt. I like the fact that it is an automatic with a scope. But like all assault rifles, it can really chew through the ammo if I am not careful. I don't really like the shotgun much, because it is usually so poor at range. I was only using it there because I was almost out of 5.56 ammo.

I usually only have two permanent weapons for a character, typically one rifle type, and one pistol. When I pick up other guns while adventuring those are mainly just to sell as loot. But sometimes I will use them, if they are something nifty and unusual. That is why I used the flamethrower, as it is not something I often have the chance to use.

mALX: I kept thinking there would be some kind of easter eggs in Bethedsa too! I was looking for a computer game developer's office, or an Oblivion poster, or anything to link back to the devs. But if there is something there, I have never noticed it.

I agree, there should have been something other than the Bobblehead. There is one building in the game that has a game developer's office in it - I think it is at the very south end of the map - I (or my character, I should say) played the game, lol.

Somehow I missed these vids posting! The one with the Super Mutant killing off the ghouls for Boudica, that was a surprise! I love the ones where she sets the robots out - (edited, diff one - sorry). Great Vids!

Posted by: King Coin May 19 2011, 04:18 PM

I always used that gas main to start a fire. You should have unlocked the safe, there is a laser pistol and ammo in it.

I've never seen a supermutant killing ghouls before.

rollinglaugh.gif "I WIN AGAIN!!" *head explodes*

Posted by: SubRosa May 19 2011, 10:37 PM

mALX: You are probably thinking of Hubris Comics, that has the text-based adventure game in it. I played that too! It brought back memories of the old days of computer gaming.

I was really amazed by that three-way fight going on in the second video. There was a radroach behind me, that the last feral ran past me to kill, before running back to go after the super mutant. There was another roach in the big room that the super mutie killed too.

King Coin: I know about the laser pistol. I got that afterward. I had a laser rifle already in my inventory, so I just got it over with and used that instead. You picked out my favorite part: "I win, again!" Bam! That was just too perfect.

They must have cut some of the audio out of the Xbox version of the game because I never heard some of those lines.

I really liked the robot demanding tickets from the supermutants. That was so funny! I'm glad you included that.

I only use the Fat Man in that one part of the game. The rest of the Behemoths I kill with mines and other more standard weapons. I did kill the one in the railroad yard (the one you take the teddy bear to spawn) with the alien blaster. 7 shots it took.

That one scared the crap out of me!

The first time I did it I was pumped and ready for him. I grabbed the bear and whirled around... to nothing. I walked around and he was off in the distance killing raiders.

The second time (with the alien blaster) I just grabbed it and assumed he'd be off in the distance again. Nope
He spawned right behind me. I remember because I was talking to a friend on XBL and our conversation was interrupted by me yelling obscenities. Good thing I had the blaster.

Posted by: mALX May 20 2011, 06:13 AM

ROFL !!!

I was collecting teddy bears, had an enormous pile of them on my bed in the Megaton house - grabbed that bear and next thing I know he was THERE! I was so scared I nearly wet my pants! I squeezed back into that trailer and just kept shooting - I think it took forever before he died, I ran out of bullets in two guns - had just got through tangling with the one at that car factory place, so totally wasn't expecting another so soon!

The first one I ever saw was at the place where you get the "Terrible" shotgun. I dropped down from the mountain behind the building onto the roof of the building, then to the ground - and raced into the building. I was out of everything, so figured I'd see if I could get loot inside that building. Didn't know the bartender would be friendly, and blasted a missile into the bar (picked that missile launcher up in the upper building). When I saw the stats on that "Terrible" I was tickled pink that I went in there. I came out of that place wanting to try it out and saw that Behemoth ... HOLY CRAP! What the H is that thing!!!! It was loose, running between the trains. Scared me to death!

Posted by: SubRosa May 24 2011, 11:34 PM

King Coin: I love turning protrectrons loose the tunnels. It is so hilarious what they get up to. You can also give them tickets too. If you have one in your inventory and click on a protrectron, he will take it from you.

My first time finding that Behemoth with the teddy in the shopping card I ran nearly all the way to Evergreen Mills. I ran into one of the caravan traders there, and him, his bodyguard, and I finished the Behemoth off together.

mALX: I always collect the teddy bears and toss them on my bed. Sometimes I throw the pre war cash on the desk in the same room.

I love turning the behemoth loose in Evergreen Mills. If you skirt around the cliffs, you can get a shot at the generator that runs the power for his cage. One shot will blow it up, and let it out of its cage. Tons of fun to watch it toss the raiders around!

***********

Next, something different. I fired up Oblivion again for a while today to tweak some of my OSR settings. While I was at it I decided to take some vids of Teresa clearing out Miscaracand. It was a big place, so will take a while to get all of the videos edited and up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmN9zWozSYw

The lion you see is Teresa's, it is from my http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36623 mod. Likewise the spell she uses at the end to recharge her bow is from a http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2947 mod, that I further modded to reduce how much it recharged and make it easier to buy. Teresa's bow is a combination of the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7667 mod, which I modded to put the Elven Bow texture on it. Her armor is the miran-talurn armor from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11464. I use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12568 to add a shader for the poison effect. Finally, her goggles are from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5198. I created a script to go with them that grants night eye while they are worn.

I am a little rusty, since I have not played Oblivion in a while. Because of that I forgot about recharging Teresa's bow. I went into that last big fight against all the zombies with it out of charges. That is why her poison was not working. Her bow has a 100% Weakness to Poison to bust the immunity of undead.

Oh, I am also using a mod I created that makes all the Ayleid Ruins accessible, regardless of quests. That is why Teresa can get into Miscarcand, as she is not doing the main quest, and never will.

Posted by: mALX May 25 2011, 12:44 AM

I'll bet you are right that it was the Hubris Comics - it was text-based adventure - it was fun though, and a nice surprise!

Miscarand! I was just talking to King Coin about this ruin the other day. If you grab the giant welkynd stone without killing the Lich King - and run out of Miscarand, it stalks you everywhere you go till it is killed or your character is, lol. It is hard to kill, and a ball to have chasing you !!

Not sure, but I don't think Miscarand is ever locked. I have gone in there without any quests active and gotten in, grabbed the giant welkynd stone and just held onto it till the quest required it. When Martin releases you from talking you can just tap him on the shoulder and start up conversation again and he will recognize the stone is in your inventory.

I enjoyed most of the quests in the main questline - most, not all. What I didn't like is that there is no way to do it without your character becoming uberish or heroic just by the nature of the quests. Still, it was fun to follow through, especially on my first time playing.

What knocked me out about this vid was the absolute toughness of these zombies! They just kept getting up over and over again, filled with arrows! I was screaming my head off watching, especially when they trapped her at the door and then that skeleton followed her back out! GAAAAH! Awesome Vid !!!

That was pretty exciting! Those hotkeyed poisons worked so well!
That summoned mountain lion is awesome! I usually dread hearing their roar.

Posted by: SubRosa May 25 2011, 09:36 PM

mALX: You are right, Miscarcand is one of those you can get into even though its quest-related.

Those were Dread Zombies, so the top of the food chain. Teresa is level 20, so she sees some tough critters. It would have gone a lot better if her bow had not been out of charges, then her enchantment would have worked, and her poisons.

King Coin: It took me a year and a half to figure out that you can hotkey potions. It sure comes in handy. If you like the lion, just wait until Teresa can summon a grizzly bear. Or a spirggan. Those are the most powerful creatures summonable in Witchcraft.

I am sorry for the ultra-brightness in the menus, but if I had not increased the brightness, it would have been too hard to see outside the menus. Either Windows Live Movie Maker or You Tube darkens everything. In the future, I will make sure that Teresa wears her night eye goggles whenever underground.

Posted by: Thomas Kaira May 25 2011, 11:05 PM

My hotkeys tend to be this:

1: Primary weapon

2: Poison

3: Secondary weapon

4: My best healing spell

5-8: Various spells that suit my needs at the time

I am contemplating picking up Enhanced Hotkeys again to give me even more hotkeys, but for now, I'm doing fine with the standard 8.

Also, a new addition to my own load order has been http://theelderscrolls.info/?go=dlfile&fileid=219, which aims to rebalance Oblivion's magic to make it less irritating to use and correct several shortcomings in the ways certain vanilla spells worked. Here's a few noteworthy tidbits:

- Duration of many buffs and debuffs have been significantly improved (x4). No more casting three buffs in a row and the first one is already disappearing! Very powerful buffs / debuffs like Invisibility and Paralyze aren't affected.
Example: the Apprentice rank premade Soul Trap spell has had its duration increased to 80 seconds from 20 seconds so that you no longer have to fret about the spell effect dying while in the middle of a big battle when you have other things on your mind, like staying alive.
- Summons can be killed with Dispel effect.

It is very useful, and has already allowed for a notable increase in my spellcasting. Also, most of the more "out there" features I know you don't like are optional, so I would recommend taking a look at this one.

I meant to say this on the last video: Good voice set choice goodjob.gif

I love seeing those skeletons fly apart when you shoot them laugh.gif It does make a follow up shot more difficult though.

You must not care for septims much, because you left quite a few valuables behind. Two things that come to mind right away are some potions and every lockpick in the dungeon. Those are literally more valuable than septims!

I'm going to look into that recharge spell. That's really cool!

I like the armor/outfit as well.

Posted by: Acadian May 26 2011, 12:26 AM

What fun to watch Teresa clear this big ruin! smile.gif The voice of Imoen suits her well. Love the mountain lion; for the way Teresa fights, the fact that the lion is generally below her line of fire is ideal!

I noticed Teresa generally held her nocked arrow once she decided not to shoot. Once I saw her shoot it into the ground. You know that you can denock an arrow and not loose poison or a charge, right? I use the vanilla 'dodge' maneuver (Acro of 50+) to denock arrows and am so very used to it that I don't bother with any of the several mods that can also do the job.

ohmy.gif Or that!!

I loved those shots through the gap in the railing. Later it was fun to see those bones fly! I have a new character I’d like to play before I try to write her. Now I’m inspired to create her, today!!

Posted by: SubRosa May 27 2011, 09:21 PM

Thomas Kaira: I always hotkey 1 as my healing spell or stimpack. The rest kind of vary. LAME is another of those mods that does not interest me. I find magic to already be overpowered in Oblivion, and would sooner find ways challenge myself by using less of it. Even with my pure mage characters, I find myself specializing in different fields or elements to limit myself. Such as Morrigan, whose only attack spell was Fingers of the Mountain (which I modded to make it actually a reasonable spell).

King Coin: Imoen was the first voice set I ever used for Oblivion, and Teresa the first character I used her on (she is the second Oblivion character I ever played. The first one - Clare - was basically a throwaway character that I learned the game with). In fact, Imoen set the bar so high, that there are very few other voice sets I can stand to listen to.

You are right about the septims. Teresa has 41k right now, which she never spends any of, because she never needs to. She has no need for more money, so the only things she takes are ingredients to make potions with, and few pre-made potions that be useful. Everything else she leaves behind. She also has the Skeleton Key, which makes lockpicks obsolete.

That recharge mod is a bit tricky, as it has several different modules you can use. I edited the simplest one, reduced how much it recharges and made it a novice level spell, and made it into a spell tome that you can buy at The Mystic Emporium. If you want, I can email the .esp to you.

Acadian: Most of the animals you can summon in Witchcraft are like that. Because they are low to the ground, you can shoot over their heads. Unlike summoned undead or daedra. You are right, it is very convenient. The lion can sometimes be tricky because it likes to jump up, and I have not tried it with the grizzly yet (not up to the 100 Conjuration required). The Boar was the best for shooting over, since he is really low to the ground, and never leaps. He was also surprisingly tough.

I know about the acrobatics denocking trick. But I do not have enough hands and fingers to do it, and gave up trying a long time ago. I just shoot the arrow down in the ground. If you hit the grab quick enough, you can catch it before it bounces away. I lose a potion and a charge, but both of those are easy to replace.

mALX: Miscarcand was always one of my favorite ruins, because of its size, and the goblins and undead fighting one another inside.

Grits: I find shooting through the railing to be very tough. Often I find myself hitting the rail instead of the target! But jumping up on top of the rail often ends up in me being spotted. Or at least it did when Teresa had a lower sneak. So sometimes I still go for those shots. Hotkeying the poisons really does make life for an archer much easier. No more opening the menu with every shot and picking out the poison you want to use.

LOL you figured out you can shoot arrows through those gates as well.

I noticed you were carrying a lot of repair hammers. Is that number normal? Aravi usually carries 3-4 or at most 5.

In the second video at about 1:30 I thought that zombie saw you. Instead it was interested in Kitty. Freaked me out for a moment though.

Ok, check you mail, I just sent it. It has been a while since I did that, now I remember. I took the script for the spell effect that the guy was using in the original mod, and created an entirely new mod of my own around just that. Basically making a new spell using his script, a spell tome for it, and giving it to Calandil to sell.

I am not really sure how many hammers Teresa is carrying. In the vanilla game I always carried 20 or more, as I went through them so quickly, no matter what my skill. I have since modded the game to make the hammers last longer, and so usually do not carry that many. If she has a lot, it is just because she has not gotten around to selling off the extra ones she's picked up.

I was sooo reaching for a command creature spell with those multiple foes! Teresa however continues to do really well working with her furry feline friend and quick footwork. I see what you mean about the lion occasionally jumping up into the line of fire, but Teresa knows how to anticipate that it seems.

You do not need it. The Spell Tomes dlc does not really do anything that the regular game cannot. A spell tome is simply a book that uses a script that teaches you the particular spell when you read it. The first time you open it, it gives you an option of whether or not you want to learn it.

At first I could not figure out what NVG meant. Then when I looked back at the video, the night eye light went off in my head! I usually can see fine without them with my flatscreen monitor, so I rarely use them anymore. But they do make things a lot clearer in these videos.

The lions took me a bit of getting used to, because of how they like to jump up and paw at people. I had to get used to the rhythm of their attacks, and time my shots between them. I have found that conjuration works really well with an archer, especially indoors, as you can use the summons to ward off the enemy, or decoy them.

It really does work well. I'd consider it for Aravi if she wasn't already skilled with the blade.

If you aren't already aware of it, if you equip a one-handed melee weapon after you shoot your bow in sneak mode, but before the arrow makes contact, you will get an extra 3X damage from your sneak attack.

You need not use the weapon at all, it just needs to be in your hand when the arrow makes contact.

Good for getting some extra health off those pesky high-level monsters with all those extra leveled hitpoints. wink.gif

By the way, Rosa, I had no trouble seeing what you were doing. I'm used to having my dungeons A LOT darker.

Okay, this one simply cannot be passed up.

The mod is called http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38466 and its purpose is to restore a feature of Oblivion's that was left out of the final release for unknown reasons (seeing as Bethesda packaged all the needed voice files anyways). Basically, this mod allows for the NPCs of the game to mutter to themselves when they aren't really doing anything (like they used to in Morrowind).

Here's a few snippets:

Redguard: "I long for a Colovian Fur Helm."

Imperial: "So many things to do, so little time."

Imperial: "Brandy and Comberry Wine... heh, not a good combination."

Imperial: "I'm so hungry, I could eat a Bosmer!"

Breton: "Dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, everywhere dirt."

Altmer: "The indignity of it all."

It has been a long time. I have been playing a new character lately: Artemisia. Thanks to being the victim of magical experimentation, she has Khajiit eyes and the Khajiit night eye ability to go with them. Thanks to that she was exiled from Summerset as well. Her ship wrecked north of Anvil, and she was the sole survivor thanks to her birthsign. Born under the Undine, she can breathe underwater, and is healed by water and rain. After exploring the area around Anvil, she went to the Imperial City, where she tried to help some people out who were being harrassed by a corrupt Watchman. He tossed her in prison for her troubles, where she met the Emperor, saw him die, was given the Amulet of Kings, and escaped. After seeing the Watchman go to prison, and join the Thieves Guild, Artemisia decided to follow the Emperor's wishes, and has gone to Kvatch to find his long lost son. But strange things are afoot in Colovia...

I haven't finished watching, but I literally facepalmed when I saw you spinning the camera around her. Why did it never even occur to me that there was a function like that? I should have been making big use of that! And now that I think of it, I think Acadian even mentioned it in his comments once. Missed opportunities.

At the end there I thought Artemisia was going to have to resort to using a melee weapon on those two atronachs. I never made much use of absorb health magic just because they take so much magic to use.

That atronach on the hill was so frustrating! Aravi used to be able to easily make shots like that, but then she spent so much time fighting in enclosed spaces that she can't shoot very far anymore with much accuracy.

You have a fondness for archers don't you? smile.gif Marksmen happens to be the area I need the most work on myself. Give me a sword or a staff any day.

Artemisia seems a tad anarchist, vengeful at the least. Makes me wonder why she even decided to do what the Emperor asked at all.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 2 2011, 01:13 AM

So, the Greek Diana with a voice like Viconia is laying siege to the Deadlands! wink.gif

She looks like a great no-melee mystic archer, specialized in conjuration. And really using that Dremora Conjuredude well with her bow. Blocking with bow, then casting a touch spell when cornered! Most excellent.

Posted by: Grits Nov 2 2011, 01:42 AM

That was fun to watch. Great shooting across at that Flame Atronach, and it was inspiring how Artemisia stuck with her touch spells against the two in the tower. My Altmer archer/conjurer/supposedly destructionist still carries an axe for those situations. whistling.gif

I hope this is part one of many! smile.gif

King Coin: I do that 3rd person spin around all the time while playing the regular game. That way I can see behind or beside my character while I am going down the road. The only downside is that you can only move in a straight line when you do it while moving.

Artemisia is a no-melee character. I am trying out Absorb Health with her rather than destruction magic because I have never done the bow/absorb combo before. It is tough, because as you said, the magicka cost for the absorb is so high.

liliandra nadiar: To be honest, I like all the types. I have been playing melee and magician characters of late, so a bowgirl has been a refreshing change of pace. Artemisia is a bad girl, but has not always been so. Before she was kidnapped and mutated, she was a nice, law-abiding citizen of Summerset. Since then she's had to learn what life is like when you are not one of the beautiful people. She sees the Emp as her shot at getting back her legitimate life, of being respectable once more, rather than just some freak in the gutter. Still, she has trouble keeping her fingers from wandering into other people's pockets... wink.gif

Acadian: "I feel your eyes roving over me. Do you see something you desire?" wink.gif Viconia is one of my favorite sound sets. Although when the Innocent voice says: "Found a dark patch." I always want to giggle, as it brings up images of a naked brunette...

Artemisia is my first character to summon daedra. I am going to experiment with her to see what they are like. So far it is a lot more challenging than summoning animals, as the damn dremora always block my field of fire. I cannot count how many arrows I used to find my scamp.

Grits: I have not played an archer in a while, so I am a little rusty at some of these long range shots too.

I’m loving Viconia’s voice for Artemisia – it suits her perfectly. Heh, I know what you mean about Innocent's voice set; Buffy is always finding a dark patch.

How touching that she took a cue from Jerric and left Menien a dagger for, well, you know. sad.gif

She is quite the packrat when it comes to grabbing heavy loot! And it looks like she just upgraded bows perhaps? That looks like sort of a daylight shader on her natural nighteye ability? I’m fortunate that, when I rarely use nighteye, I like the blue. Ah, and I see she is using her repair hammer to check for enemies nearby. She is getting much better at using her big summon as a shield as well as sidestepping to enable her shots around him. Okay, from the sigil, we see that Artemisia is between level 9-12. Woohoo, then her rain regeneration kicks in at the very end to top off her red.

Whew, let me catch my breath. Closing an Oblivion Gate in under twenty minutes! Wham, bam, thank you ma’am. Artemisia needs to meet Nerussa and learn to slow down. You know, to smell the harrada and such. tongue.gif

Posted by: King Coin Nov 3 2011, 01:29 AM

That was nice of her to leave a dagger. Depressing, but better than what the Dremora would do.

I really miss that nighteye. That mod won't install and I think it's because of a MS screwup. mad.gif

She got in there a couple of times real quick to absorb some health while the enemies were distracted. Nice!

That was a neat ability, getting health from rain. Do bodies of water heal her too?

Posted by: liliandra nadiar Nov 3 2011, 02:20 AM

Nice work Arti. Now she only has to deal with the horde inside the city itself.

BTW, I use a mod to reduce Restoration http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2088 that has been invaluable in making that particular school of spells useful in most cases.

Posted by: Grits Nov 3 2011, 11:34 PM

The two dremora jumping off the ramp was fun!

Artemisia doesn’t usually seem to have much patience with the Imperial guys, but she sure wanted to get Menien out of that cage. sad.gif Excellent touch with the dagger.

My favorite part was the Rain Regeneration, that is so neat!

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 4 2011, 09:37 PM

Acadian: I am getting practice at shooting around those big hulking dremora. I don't put nearly as many arrows in their backs as I did with the scamps when I started playing Artemisia! She was about 10th or 11th level when I started Kvatch. She leveled up too quickly to be honest, and I had to change around her majors to slow it down some more. I went into Kvatch unprepared - with no magic items that is - and it really made things difficult. She did indeed upgrade to that Dwarven bow. I was hoping for a damage effect on the sigil stone, but got a shield and damage armor instead. Since most of the daedra don't seem to wear armor, Artemisia used the sigil on her armor instead.

King Coin: You cannot delete the old shaders? Or copy over the new ones? That would sound like some sort of file corruption going on. Maybe you should just download it all over again and try from scratch?

Artemisia's Undine healing works when she is in water, but only when she is under it, or treading water. Unfortunately it won't work if she is only standing in say knee-deep water. It is because of how the ISSwimming function works. It also works in the rain, and when it is snowing. I got the entire idea from the Grummite water healing, and ran with it.

liliandra nadiar: The horde in the city is even worse. They are all packed together, and of course there are the city guard and legionaries to get in the way and ruin any chance of sneaking. I am holding off on reducing the cost of Restoration. I want to try it the way the game made it at first, and see how that works out. It should be a lot cheaper as Artemisia gets her skill up. She also added a sigil to fortify her magicka after Kvatch that helped a great deal.

Grits: I love pushing the daedra over the edge in those towers! It was so great when they did it all on their own this time. The first one that fell actually shot up a frost bolt at the one following it too! Before he went splat that is! You are right about Artemisia being impatient with the Imps. They are human, and speaking with them is just so demeaning for a Altmer like herself. The worst part of her exile is being forced into the company of such primitives. wink.gif

The Rain Regeneration is part of her birthsign, that I created. The Undine gives water breathing, and heals her when she is the rain, snow, or water. It is part of a bunch of new birthsigns I created a few months ago, after I got a burst of inspiration.

Wow, that is a tough battle for an archer. Everyone gets in the way! The undercroft looked nearly impossible.

Once again the rain healing was just brilliant. It’s so much more a part of her than a power she can use once a day.

I like Artemisia’s voice and look, they really set her apart from the usual folk I expect to find in Cyrodiil. It’s fun to watch this battle, since playing it feels so personal.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 5 2011, 01:50 AM

That was exciting. What a terrible situation for an archer to have friendlies darting in and out of your line of fire. I hope Arti’s Dremora doesn’t get mistaken for a baddie! biggrin.gif

I remember when you got that green cloud mod to more dramatically display the poison effect. It looks good.

Posted by: King Coin Nov 5 2011, 05:34 AM

LOL! It looked like Artemisia’s Dremora checked the pulse on the dead flame atronach!

Why does Artemisia take the dremora weapons?

Ah I see Inian dropped pretty fast. The rest of the soldiers did surprisingly well though for suicidal maniacs.

Nice spell names. Makes everything easy to find then.

Oh and that undercoft was a madhouse! No friendlies hit either I don’t think. I’m impressed!

That sounds like it might be a Virtual Store issue. Is Oblivion installed in your Program Files folder? If so I bet that is what is going on. Windows Vista and 7 will not allow you to add, remove, or edit files in the Program Files folder. Microsoft thinks we are all too stupid to be able to do that. When you try to do it, it creates another copy of not only the file you are copying, but everything else in the folder it is going to in another place on the drive. Which of course does not work because it is not where the game really is.

The solution is to never install anything in the Program Files folder. That and disable UAC. If you have Windows 7, you will also have to take ownership of the folder, and make sure your account has administrator privileges. To make sure you have ownership, right click on the folder, go to properties -> security tab. Select what user group you belong to, and make sure everything is checked under Allow.

I've got Oblivion installed to C:\Users\Dan\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion.

I've gone through all that. UAC and User groups privileges. None of it works. I've given up on it. Thanks for the help though. All of that should work, but it doesn't.

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 5 2011, 05:02 PM

Try installing it in a folder right off the root of your C: drive, rather than your User folder. I have a sneaking suspicion that is involved in the issue.

Grits: This big brawls are tough. Artemisia is built for stealth, and slowly taking her time. All that goes out the window in these huge melees. It is all I can do to keep from shooting my own people. I cannot count how many friendly arrows Artemisia has dug out of her back. Like I said to Acadian before, Artemisia went into this unprepared. Without a magic weapon these battles are long-drawn out messes.

Acadian: It is funny that you mention it, because I have trouble telling which one is Artemisia's summoned dremora, and which are the bad guys. That new poison shader really does make it a lot easier to tell when your poison is working.

King Coin: Artemisia takes everything, so she can sell it. Also so she can practice her armorer skill on it all. Even if I am going to drop it again, I still pick things up just for the latter.

By now she has put together a good nest egg. She needs to buy a house. I do not know where yet though. She likes it down in Leyawiin, because of all the rain. Likewise with Bruma with the snow. So maybe one of those two places.

So is Arte taking care of the Legionnaire out of self preservation? Though it looked like she was becoming aware of the effects of the Gates and what they could do at the end there.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 7 2011, 03:42 AM

Argh, the Battle for Kvatch is such a frantic, confusing and frustrating goat rope, is it not?

Nice to see Artemisia pause by the bodies of the fallen soldiers.

House hunting? I like Leyawiin too. The ferns and weeping trees and Topal Bay are beautiful. And since Artemisia doesn't have green skin or a tail, she won't get picked on by the local nobles. wink.gif

Posted by: King Coin Nov 8 2011, 12:30 AM

Mantius’ over eager charge almost got him shot!
I liked seeing her heal up the legionnaire.

Inside: atronachs everywhere! I would hate using absorb health all the time. Just watching Artemisia
stand there and block while waiting for her magic was not something I’d want to do. I did like it when she killed the atronach with the spell though.

I’m surprised two soldiers survived! With all those atronachs I figured they’d all be killed.

Posted by: Grits Nov 8 2011, 01:28 AM

Nice to see Merandil and the Legion archer still on their feet at the end. I also liked that Artemisia took a moment with the fallen, and looked around as she left. That was a great way to end the Kvatch series.

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 11 2011, 05:20 PM

liliandra nadiar: I have learned a long time ago that the only way to keep followers alive is by healing them all up to full after every battle. Even doing that, most of them died. The fights went on too long, because Artemisia lacked a magic weapon to take down the Daedra quickly. Other characters of mine have gone through the retaking of Kvatch without losing a single guard or legionary. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion480.jpg

Acadian: Artemisia could not fail to notice the sacrifice made by all the soldiers at Kvatch. It is forcing her to rethink her ideas about those who serve governments.

I settled on Frostcrag Spire, as it will give me a chance to try out the Frostcrag Reborn and Frostcrag Village mods.

King Coin: I just missed putting an arrow in Matius' back by a hair. Followers in Oblivion always charge in like that. It drives me crazy. The Absorb is working out alright. Now that Artemisia has raised her Restoration skill, and got some more magicka from a sigil stone, she can hang in with an Atronach or Clannfear and take them out with just Absorbing alone. And usually come out without a scratch.

Grits: At least two of them survived! You asked in King Coin's topic about Artemisia's new bow. She did get a new one after Kvatch: Hatred's Soul. I had a video made for how she got it, but it was just too dark.

No videos this time. I am writing the next chapter of the TF, and just do not have the time. But I do have a few pics:

It actually occurred to me to change the weather in Oblivion to see what it is like, but since Aravi isn't the Champion of Cyrodiil, I never got to try it out. Very neat looking with the stars and the lava. Now if only there weren't corpses all over the place, it might actually be nice.

New pet? I bet he/she/it smells bad.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 12 2011, 01:16 AM

Those clannfear are so loyal and cuddly!

What a neat idea to import a clear night sky into the Deadlands!

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 19 2011, 02:54 AM

liliandra nadiar: Medea was a nature girl. She always wore the vanilla hunter's garb when out adventuring. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion473.jpg

King Coin: I change the weather all the time when I am taking pictures, so I can get the best effect. With other characters I often got tired of raining all the time in Leyawiin too. Now that I am playing an Undine, Artemisia loves it when it rains. Or better yet, when it snows.

Acadian: Cuddly as a rattlesnake I would say! She has been playing with a Daedroth lately, and so far, I'd have to say that clannfear seems more effective. The Daedroth seems to like to stand around an preen a bit. Where the clannfear just homes right in like a missile.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 20 2011, 01:22 AM

Yes, nice new doo! KC's right, the Deadlands looked pretty neat by starlight but sunny Deadlands just look freaky! tongue.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 20 2011, 03:06 AM

liliandra nadiar: I wish there were more normal, every day poses too. It seems like everyone who makes pose packs is only interested in girly girls being incredibly cutesy. I mean, who can imagine the seven foot Nord named Bubba with his hips out holding out a red heart-shaped pillow with "Love" written over it?

No Olav's for Artemisia! She had to walk in there once to find Ongar. She had to send her shoes in for dry cleaning afterward. It was almost as bad at the Newlands Lodge in Cheydinhal. The one time she walked in there the first thing she saw was not just one, but two orcs! ohmy.gif She immediately turned around and left.

King Coin: It is interesting what you see when you force the clear weather. It shows you just how much the developers rely upon the weather effects to hide things. Like that bracket of land that surrounds the zone. It sticks out like a sore thumb in the pic above, but with regular Oblivion weather you would not notice a thing.

Grits: I tend to use that one dress for all of my characters. It is one of the only decent clothing mods I have ever found. While you can't swing a guar by the tail on TES Nexus without hitting a female clothing mod, it is almost impossible to find one that is not lingere, or just completely out of the setting (like modern evening gowns and stiletto heels). Finding something I can take seriously is a herculean task.

Acadian: It was time for some new hair. I added Ren's Hair to my own custom race/hair mod that I use, and I want to try out different styles from it. Her old hair was from Ren's as well. But it was making her neck look fat.

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 25 2011, 03:09 AM

I have been trying out the various Rens hair, since it is new to me. I have noticed that a lot of them have clipping issues, not just on clothes, but on people's heads!

Artemisia has not been clicking with me lately. It is just getting too easy with her I think. Between Hatred's Soul, her summoned Frost Atronach, and her absorb health (now at 30 points over 2 seconds), she simply pwns everything she sees. So I stared a new character this afternoon.

Meet http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion595.jpg. She is a Breton necromancer, on a mission to kill every other necromancer she can. I am not exactly sure why yet, but I am sure she will tell me in a while. One thing is for sure, the other necros sure want her dead!

I started usinghttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25591 with Artemisia, and used it for her as well. I picked the start with just clothing, and in the middle of a necromancer lair. Tons of fun! As much as I do like the tutorial dungeon, as it gives me a way to get the know my characters, I find this mod is excellent for when I already have an good idea about them to start with. It lets me start them right in their story, so to speak. Just as Artemisia started on a shipwreck on the Gold Coast.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion596.jpg. I normally don't like playing Bretons, because they are so overpowered. So I removed the magic resistance to make it more interesting, and made her born under the Serpent birthsign. The latter I have modded to give a poison attack that costs magicka, like a regular spell, and grants 100% resistance to poison. She might go to the Shivering Isles, and that will be handy against the Grummites there.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion597.jpg Maybe Stinky? Raggedy Man? He may look gross, but can that pile of old meat fight! I have never had a character use a summoned zombie before, so it has been a real eye-opener.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 25 2011, 03:28 AM

Congrats on Necrodame Nykteria. smile.gif I see a dagger; is that just for blocking? Applying poisons? Real fighting? What is she using to fight besides zombies? Glad you're happy with your alternate start capability. I imagine when you create quite a few characters that it would add some nice variety.

Posted by: King Coin Nov 25 2011, 03:31 AM

Interesting character, but she better watch out for a little woodelf. I heard she doesn't like "necrodudes."

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 25 2011, 03:36 AM

Acadian: The dagger is the only weapon she started with. I was going to use for blocking, but she never had to actually use it. So far it has all be magical attacks coming at her, or skeletons that she has been able to run around. Besides the zombie, she has been using fire attacks to burn those necros to ash. Plus one poison touch from her birthsign, which quite effectively snuffed out the nec she used it upon.

King Coin: Well, thankfully for Nkyteria, she is not a dude! laugh.gif But she does agree with Buffy and Falanu, she prefers them dead as well.

liliandra nadiar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visigoths Well that would be the Nords in Tamriel. wink.gif

King Coin: There is no point doing something, if you cannot look good while you do it. wink.gif

Acadian: Indeed. I might replace the top with the one from Eisen Platte Armor. Of course I would have to de-armor it.

Some disgruntled settlers told Nykteria that a few goblin tribes are feuding, and using their unbuilt village as a battlefield. Someone mentioned that these goblin tribes each had a staff for a totem. Funny thing is, she just happens to be looking for a staff...

Posted by: King Coin Nov 27 2011, 06:46 AM

The voice set you chose fits very well.

blink.gif where the heck did that chief come from at the beginning?

That totem staff seems pretty powerful.

Posted by: liliandra nadiar Nov 27 2011, 07:37 PM

Ah good day, not one but two staffs. True the decapitated head might result in Ny getting some odd looks but what's that compared to blasting fools with lightning?

Great videos, though you need to rename them. There was no trouble at all, Ny just rolled over them.

I've been wondering for a while now, where are you getting the voice mod for your folks?

Posted by: SubRosa Nov 27 2011, 08:19 PM

Grits: The long hair was just clipping too much, especially when I was using the pose mod for pics. So Nyky decided it was time to see a stylist. She found a guy named Ren who does a good job.

King Coin: I have no idea where that Goblin Chief came from either. I looked that way a moment before, and it was all clear. Then there he was blasting past her shoulder a second later. It is a good thing Nykteria was sneaking!

The staff is overpowered at 2nd level. Besides, it is hard to see past that blasted head in 1st person view. Nykteria stopped using it soon after. The two of them will go into her trophy collection, which also includes every Necromancer Robe she takes off a dead necro.

liliandra nadiar: Acadian, King Coin, and I get the player voices from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12588. I believe he has http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?app=downloads&showcat=51&sort_by=ASC&sort_key=file_name&num=10&st=0 The one I am using now is Calisto. I have never used her before. My favorites are Imoen and Viconia. (Imoen is the one Coin used for Aravi in Oblivion. Viconia is the set I used for Artemisia).

And since I am replying anyway, http://youtu.be/5Cs4Y940QMg.

Posted by: Acadian Nov 28 2011, 02:05 AM

Neat to see Nykie navigating in the light (night eye with shader) instead of what I’m used to (via pink glows in the dark). For me, seeing foes is easy, but seeing traps is very hard.

In addition to your night eye shader, I see weapon recharging by spell, a well-selected sound set for her voice, and the poison attack from her birthsign with its green cloud effect. Nice! smile.gif

Rather formal dungeon crawling attire; her cleaning bill must be high. Fire & zombie is working well!

Posted by: SubRosa Dec 3 2011, 10:40 PM

How funny, I thought that “loaf of bread” was the auto-censor at work again.

Nyki’s new lair has a fabulous view. Two chairs on the roof… One for Old Meat? It looks great!

Posted by: Acadian Dec 4 2011, 01:32 AM

Luvs what Nykteria did with Cadlew after taking out the trash. Yup those gobbie staves are potent but Fugly as can be. Broke my heart to see poor City Swimmer cut down again. sad.gif

Goblin Killing
I saw you post this and then promptly forgot to watch it. D’oh!

Lol, when Nykteria entered the cave and tossed a fire ball, that goblin just up and left.

She must be pretty good at sneaking cause that one goblin never saw her!

I think a staff that looks like the Skull of Corruption would be perfect for her.

###################################
Oops, looks like Old Meat took some fire.
It was kind of funny to see everyone summon something right away.

She fixed that up pretty fast. tongue.gif
Very nice though.

Run City-Swimmer!! Awww…

Posted by: SubRosa Dec 4 2011, 06:18 AM

liliandra nadiar: I thought it was pretty ironic that he killed her in church as well. And all for a loaf of bread. On the other hand you can murder someone in front of a guard, and just pay them a thousand or so gold and they let you go. Got to love Cyrodiil justice.

Grits: I mainly just put the second chair there because there was room. Same with the dinner table. Who knows, maybe some day Nykie will hook up someone breathing? wink.gif

Acadian: Yep, that goblin skull is just too ugly to look at. I never could stand those staffs.

King Coin: Is the Skull of Corruption from the Vaermina quest? Nykteria might try that one. Her sneak is not really that great. I think it is about 27 or so. But she is still low level, plus she wears no armor, so it seems to be enough for most critters she comes across. Actually about 4 days or so went by while she restored the house. I did a lot of waiting to see if the cell would reset, and the corpses of the necromancers she had killed would automagically vanish. They did not, so I had to get rid of them with the console.

Yep, Vaermina's quest.

I see she's found herself an elegant staff already though.

You know what was really weird? It started snowing in my game at Bravil once. It was brief, and it wasn't me using the console either.

Posted by: Acadian Dec 5 2011, 01:46 AM

What a lovely staff! Ever so much more lady like that the big clunky in game things. tongue.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Dec 15 2011, 02:32 AM

King Coin: Nykteria did the Vaermina quest recently. After some experimenting with the Skull of Corruption, Nyky has relegated it to a show piece at home. It is just too limited, it only works on npcs, and only on one at a time.

Acadian: I like those smaller staffs that come with Armamentium Staves. They even have a little particle effect that floats around the crystal in the top. You can see the little dancing motes in http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Aela01.jpg.

So, does that count as Suicide by Cop? Bad kitty was pretty dumb to try and rob someone less then ten feet away from a guard on a empty, quite road. Ny's promoting Khajiit evolution by removing those too stupid to live? >:D

Loved the frost shield spell effect as well as the staff. Wish vanilla game had thought about looks before hand. :/

Posted by: Acadian Dec 15 2011, 04:47 AM

I love the mods that provide better staves. Both Aela and Niki have very nice looking ones!

Lol. I'm convinced that highwaymen are crooks that washed out of bandit school. They demand Buffy's gold. She gives them 100 septims. They say thank you and walk away with a convenient sign on their back that says 'Shoot here'. laugh.gif

Posted by: King Coin Dec 15 2011, 05:34 AM

I laughed seeing the title on youtube "StopCriminalScum"

That was funny how the highwayman just stood up straight next to that tree and waited. The guard doesn't even blink seeing some armed and armored guy loitering near a road.

I'm so happy they changed the Khajiit voices for Skyrim.

Posted by: SubRosa Dec 19 2011, 04:15 AM

liliandra nadiar: When I saw the legion rider and the bandit, I just had to see what would happen. I love that staff mesh as well. Armamenteum Staves has a bunch of other staff types as well.

Acadian: I am often tempted to do just what you suggested, give them the gold and shoot them in the back. I wanted to see what the legionary would do however.

King Coin: I wanted to see if the legionary would attack the highwayman on sight. But he just completely ignored him until he went hostile. I guess that is what sets the guards off.

Nykteria has reached the end of her run. She has cleared out every necromancer dungeon in Cyrodiil, except for those locked out by the Mages Guild quests. In that time she has bagged 181 necromancers.

With all the lesser necros out of the way, she geared up to meet her old nemesis once more, the lich Erandur-Vangaril in Lost Boy Cavern. She faced him once before, very early in her career, and was forced to retreat before the vastly more powerful lich. But Nykteria is far stronger now (75+ Destruction, Conjuration, Alteration and 100 in Int and Will), and is ready to put an end to the abomination for once and all.

Great fun and potion intensive! Wow, Erandur really hit hard with those spells! Is Nykie born under the Apprentice birthsign by chance or is she simply like Buffy and has a tiny red bar from never touching endurance? Great job dodging (most of the) spells and certainly nice work integrating staff and spell.

And a loot count showing all 181 of those foul necrorobes! biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing! smile.gif

Posted by: liliandra nadiar Dec 19 2011, 04:48 AM

Era had some reflect action going I think. So it's more Ny really hit hard with those spells. tongue.gif

Ny has almost 'single-handedley' (Single-summonly?) ended the Necromancer support cult, now she just has to talk to those lame, scared rabbits in the Mages Guild to get the rest. And show them how it's done Old School.

Bet no one there can boast killing 181 necromancers.

Posted by: King Coin Dec 19 2011, 05:22 AM

I don't think I've ever seen that many active effects at once!

QUOTE(liliandra nadiar @ Dec 18 2011, 09:48 PM) *

I agree with that.

181!

Now when you start a new character, I vote you make an NPC with the CS that lives in that chapel...

Posted by: Grits Dec 19 2011, 05:54 AM

Wow. What a fight to finish her run. I wonder how 181 necrobes would look on the steps of the Arcane University.

I especially enjoyed the skeleton sideshow. biggrin.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Dec 25 2011, 04:16 AM

Acadian: Nykteria was born under the Serpent, so she takes no extra damage from magic. She just has a very low endurance. I only raised it a few times. It was about 40 at this point.

liliandra nadiar: You are right about that reflect, that is what was hitting Nykie so hard those times. The lich only hit her with a few effects from his staff, otherwise he mostly ignored her and concentrated on her skeleton - Rattle.

King Coin: That was a pile of magic effects going at one time wasn't it? Most of it was buffs, like a fortify magicka potion she drank before the fight. Plus restore magicka and healths, a shield or two, etc... Erandur hit her with something that was up there too, although I am still not sure what it was.

If I had a way to take a player character face and put it on an npc I would put Nykteria there in the chapel. I could make her a conjuration trainer. That would be a cool thing to do with all my former characters.

Grits: You know what surprised me is how few necromancer dungeons there are in Oblivion. I made a list of them all, and it only came out to half a page. My Ayleid Ruin list was over twice that. Although granted, some of the necro lairs are only accessible by doing the Mages Guild quest. 181 kills is quite a bit for only about 20 or so dungeons. I bet all those robes would look a lot less funny then 181 watermelons in the Arch Mage's bedroom!

I started http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion617.jpg a little while ago, but have been mostly working on mods lately, rather than playing. But she did get to Belda and Nagastani in the last few nights.

http://youtu.be/oX2-No2vkmY

I am thinking that I might do the Ayleid Steps with her. Or that other Ayleid mod out there I forget what it was called, the Lost Spires. She has not found a home yet. She might take over one of the smaller Ayleid ruins like Sercen. Or she might settle down in Red Rose Manor. I recently downloaded the newest version of that. I remember it from Aravi's videos, and liked it there.

Posted by: Acadian Dec 25 2011, 04:26 AM

Oh great fun with the sweet spot! Waaay back when I played Acadian, he favored claymores and fought the same way. Well done, Varla!

Posted by: liliandra nadiar Dec 25 2011, 05:13 AM

Such a big sword for such a small girl. She knows how to use it though. hubbahubba.gif

Planing on publishing these mods? I'm always interested in seeing how some subtle changes effect the gameplay experience.

Posted by: King Coin Dec 25 2011, 10:06 PM

When I played mages on Oblivion, they always had a claymore for that reason. Something to fall back on when the enemies get close. They always performed a ritual at a Reman Rune Stone that involved breaking the summoned sword and then repairing it. Then they could keep it forever. lol.

Posted by: SubRosa Dec 31 2011, 11:39 PM

Acadian: I have not played a two-handed weapon fighter in a long time. At one point I was really good at staying in that spot, even with a longsword. It is taking me some to get back into it though.

liliandra nadiar: Most of the mods I am working on now are just for myself. Most incorporate other mods, and I don't feel like hunting people down to get their permission to use their work. The Ayleid race mod I made was like that. It uses Natural Faces, and Corean and Ren's hair.

A really big mod I am working on called Attractive NPCs uses those mods, plus a bunch of other ones. To be honest, I am not sure of all the mods it incorporates! It changes almost every NPC in the game to make them easier on the eyes. It also adds racial diversity, by limiting hair and eye colors to specific races. For example, Imperials have black hair, Bretons have brown hair, etc... So aside from a few people who dye their hair, you can tell their race just by looking at them. I already have a mod like that which I did a few years back. But I was still learning to mod back then, and made a lot of wild edits. So I decided to start over from scratch, in the hopes that this one will be more stable, and give me better performance.

I also worked on the mod that Varla's armor comes from, created the claymore she is using and added it to it, made leveled versions of all the gear, and put it all for sale from a merchant. Plus I have been working on a house mod for Varla to live in. I started having CTDs last night, so I think I may have frelled something up in either the house mod, or the Better NPCs mod. Or maybe my computer was just tired after having been running for about 14 hours straight. I have to do some experimenting to find out what the issue is.

King Coin: Ah, the old weightless weapon and armor trick. Because you mentioned it, Varla did the same thing to get a weightless claymore. She does not use it. It is just a trophy to put in the collection.

********

Varla finally enchanted an amulet with night-eye, so I can now make videos that are not too dark to see.

http://youtu.be/qkdtHl6qQaU

http://youtu.be/gaBxT73LS4s

You can see some of the mods I am using in the first. First there is one that adds extra damage to two-handed weapons when sneaking via a script. That is why Vara's sneak attacks with her sword are so devastating. I actually have the damage set to low for that. Another is The Vyper's Ayleid Power Stones. They act like sigil stones. Varla finds a button in the vid that has a circle of stones around it. That opens up one of them, and you will see it later in the big pool. He is having some issues with a missing mesh that you will notice (that is what the big yellow star is).

Posted by: Grits Jan 1 2012, 12:00 AM

I like the color of her weapons. She looks very coordinated with all of her gear.

Whee, waterfall! Wow, Varla can really jump! smile.gif

Posted by: Acadian Jan 1 2012, 01:41 AM

Invisibility + supersize the 2H sneak damage. What’s not to like? I’m gathering that Varla is rather tightly focused on 2H, Ayleid invisibility and a touch of bow for fun.

I see the gray night eye, magicka trap enchantment, new stones to find and some lovely armor and weapons!

Luved the waterfalls! Varla's hang time is so long, surely she could shuck off that armor while in mid air? tongue.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Jan 4 2012, 03:47 AM

Grits: I went to a lot of trouble to color coordinate Varla's gear. The armor and bow are all from one set. But the sword is not. I had to retexture it and its icon to make them fit with the rest of her stuff.

Acadian: There are only 2 spells that Varla will use. Her racial invisibility, and the starting healing spell.

I like your invisibility trick. An invisible warrior with a massive sword is so much more scary than a visible warrior with the same sword. I laughed when that first necromancer walked into her and she cut them down!
What a fun jump at the end there!

Varla 4

Acadian: That was actually my second time doing that shot. After the first time, I thought I would make a vid of it. So I reloaded my most recent save and Varla did it again for the camera.

King Coin: I have not changed her walk any. I love when they walk right up to Varla when she is invisible. I keep wondering if they see her, and are about to attack! It keeps me on my toes.

Grits: I don't miss it. Because I am still playing Oblivion of course! I thought you could fix that though?

A tense fight! Nice job, Varla. I was hoping she would capture the grand essence of the Matron upon her death.

I presume Varla's claymore is enchanted with absorb health and saw that it ran out of charges on her. I became frustrated with absorb health on a claymore because dancing in the sweet spot always caused me to break the touch distance range lock before I could get full benefit of the effect. A sigil enchantment can make it on strike instead of over a second, but then you lose the benefit of adding additional effects. What is the full enchantment package on her claymore and how do you like it?

Posted by: King Coin Jan 5 2012, 04:56 AM

Much more of a challenge. Holy crap that was ballsy going in with a sliver of health. Then the thing got up your rock perch unexpectedly. That got a four letter word out of me. And then when you jumped off I was sure you were going to get some falling damage.

laugh.gif Jumping on the corpse.

Posted by: Grits Jan 5 2012, 05:09 PM

Whoa, it jumped up onto the rock!! That was a surprise. It was nice to see Varla circle a little, I sort of wondered if she was going to back off of the cliff. Awesome victory stomp. I like her spirit! biggrin.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Jan 12 2012, 01:24 AM

Acadian: My characters gave up capturing souls, or magicka, a long time ago. Recharge mods make it superfluous. Varla's sword has a 10 point Absorb Health for 1 second. I never saw any problem with is not working even when she moved away. It always kept the visual effect no matter how far away she moved. But granted, this was only for one second, so it might vary with a longer effect. I found it worked very well for Varla. With her low health, the constant healing it gave her helped tremendously.

King Coin: That was a good fight. It was one of the reasons I took Varla there. I wanted a real challenge.

Grits: Jumping up and down on the corpse was Varla showing her enthusiasm! smile.gif It was a really good fight, and a wonderful swan song for Varla.

Posted by: King Coin Jan 13 2012, 03:04 AM

Oh my gosh, I would not be able to play that game without better running animations. Are there mods out for that? Other than that, it doesn’t look as bad as I was expecting. Are you using graphics mods?

Azura making a wager with Sheo? That’s so funny! Artemis seems pretty good with the bow. The Golden Saint took quite a few shots, but the other critters fell quickly.

Posted by: SubRosa Jan 14 2012, 02:48 AM

Acadian: She is not tired at all. Look at her Fatigue bar! laugh.gif

King Coin: If you think the running animation is bad, wait until you see the one for swimming! Or just regular walking. All the animations in Morrowind are terrible, even for its day. At that point Artemis had a skill of 100 at Marksman, and an Agility of 104. Combined with her Daedric bow, she almost one-shot killed every wild animal she came upon. It was only the Daedra and NPCs who could survive beyond the first arrow.

**********

Artemis was the character I created to get to know Morrowind, and find out the ins and outs of how the game worked. Now that I have a better feel for the game, and have added or created mods to make it more playable, I have made a new character. A Dunmer sword fighter and destruction mage named Prytania. I am going to try doing the main quest with her, and probably take her through bloodmoon and tribunal afterward.

So that's the face of Aravi's savior. Like Acadian said, she has a pretty face and ears. smile.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Jan 15 2012, 02:42 AM

I think she was from one of Emma's headpacks. She was originally going to be an Altmer, but the vanilla Altmer heads and hair were all too ugly. So I fell back to a Dunmer. I still need to look for some hair packs though.

Prytania has made it to Ald-Ruhn and joined up with House Redoran. The House smith Under-Skar sells some different styled bonemold helmets, so Prytania decided to get one. She does not normally wear one, but it is still part of the ensemble after all, and maybe once in a while it might help for dramatic effect.

However, she is having trouble choosing which one.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Computer%20Games/Morrowind010Armun-AnHelmet.jpg

Right now I am kind of leaning toward the Chuzei style. The Hlaalu guards all wear the Armun-An, but so far I have not seen anyone in the Chuzei. It also looks a bit more feminine, as it is more slender. But it kind of makes her look like an Xenomorph though. I keep waiting for the second set of teeth to snap out. That would be handy in a melee fight... wink.gif

Posted by: Acadian Jan 15 2012, 03:21 AM

I like the Armun-An style better because it looks like an assassin from Star Wars instead of The Predator. Lol. Seriously, it looks more like a helmet to me.

Hmm. . . if it is more commonly worn however, that is a drawback and I have no idea how you feel about Hlaalu guards.

Posted by: King Coin Jan 15 2012, 05:00 AM

They both look kind of bizarre. If the teeth don't pop out of Chuzei style then just headbutt them. tongue.gif

Morrowind can still look good, if you use enough mods with it! With Better Bodies, Better Clothes, the various headpacks by Emma and others, and now with Rens and Corean Hair, it really does surprise me. You would not think it was an 11 year old game (at least that is how old I think it is).

That one is using MGE XE as its base, plus a bunch of other mods. Unfortunately XE requires Direct X 9, and will not work with the new versions of DX. So it will not work for me. (I have tried twice). The makers claim that you can install DX9 alongside a more current version of Direct X. But that strikes me as just playing with fire. I use the older MGE 3.8 instead. The jump: laugh.gif you weren’t kidding about the swim animation! Now, can you get to many places by aiming for lakes? Or do you have to stick to the coast when using it?

Ald 'Ruhn: I didn’t think that was a building. And those people inside sound like robots. Is this Tatooine? (payback! biggrin.gif )

Home: Nice house! I like the central stairs.

Posted by: SubRosa Jan 19 2012, 01:03 AM

Acadian: It took me a long time to adjust to Morrowind after Oblivion, but now that I have either gotten used to things, or modded them out, I am having a good time with it.

King Coin: The only safe way to use those scrolls is to aim for the ocean, and hope you do not end up too far from shore. Unlike Oblivion, you cannot change your course when you jump. So once you go up that is it. So aiming for something like a river or lake is impossible. The view is fantastic though.

I really love the Redoran-style houses like Prytania's, with the stair in the middle that doubles as a stove in the back.

http://youtu.be/DwsCMOs5uHM Normally when you do it is just like fast travel in Oblivion. You just teleport to the destination. But I found a mod that lets you ride along in real time, so you can see everything that you pass along the way. Prytania is taking a ride from Ald' Ruhn to Balmora. But for the some reason the driver goes way out of his way, and takes the long way around. The very long way around. But at least it lets you see a lot of Vvardenfell.

Posted by: Acadian Jan 19 2012, 02:09 AM

Heh, between the music, creature noises and visuals, that reminded me of a cross between ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’ and Jurassic Park. smile.gif

Posted by: King Coin Jan 19 2012, 04:42 AM

That's neat. Definitely reminds me of the SI.

Posted by: SubRosa Jan 25 2012, 12:46 AM

Acadian: Walking with Silt Striders. They are one of the most interesting new creatures in Morrowind.

King Coin: There are even Golden Saints in this game. So you can see where they recycled things for Shivering Isles.

Holy crap that dwarf is just nasty. I hope he isn't a representation of his race.

The second picture is very nice. That armor looks neat and I like how she's holding her sword up.

The Argonain in the fourth screen looks very friendly.

Posted by: Acadian Jan 25 2012, 01:44 AM

That last living guy was Jabba the Hut Dwarf?
Nice new duds!
I don’t know as I’ve ever seen a MW Argonaut. They look pretty cool.
The new hat may not be the top of fashion, but it looks warm.

That's a neat pose with the sword in the tunnel. I love the colors on the Argonian. He looks very aquatic. smile.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Jan 26 2012, 07:40 PM

King Coin: He is not a normal Dwemer. The normal ones look like ancient Persians. There is a good article about all things Dwemer http://www.imperial-library.info/content/definitive-guide-dwemer. He has corprus disease, which kills most people, and turns the rest into zombies or worse. I guess you could say he is one of the lucky ones.

Acadian: That is the House Indoril armor. The only thing Prytania did not get was the helmet, which has a full-face mask and a big crest. It has some pretty good stats too. Try to imagine Tadrose wearing it, because she would have when she was still in Morrowind.

Grits: That is just the default pose. There are no pose mods for Morrowind, and no free camera either. So taking screenshots is pretty limited. The Argonian is Basks-In-The-Sun. He has a ship that will take you back to the mainland.

I thought the helmet looked funny, then I see the bear. I would have thought that the bear would take exception to seeing the severed head of another worn like that.

I like the default sword pose in Morrowind.

Posted by: Acadian Jan 27 2012, 01:13 AM

Love the new armor! Perhaps that helmet seems to help her get along with the wolves and bears? Ain't it the truth about those darn bandits? biggrin.gif

I thank you for showing us some of Morrowind since I don't ever see getting there.

Posted by: SubRosa Jan 30 2012, 02:35 AM

King Coin & Acadian: Perhaps the Bear armor makes the living bears think that Prytania is one of them? Playing Morrowind has helped me with the TF, since it really helps me visualize what Tadrose's early life was like - right down to the armor she wore as a member of House Indoril.

I am taking a break from Morrowind, and heading to Skyrim. I found a way to play it without Steam (except for the initial install), so decided to give it a try.

I created http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Skyrim/Skyrim001.jpg (Scylla was a daughter of Hekate. Her name means "she who rends" in Greek. Brimo is one of Hekate's appellations, meaning "Terrifying".)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Skyrim/Skyrim002.jpg

http://youtu.be/ekJZpYydUuw

I have been getting the hang of Skyrim's combat. I found the shield bash works with two handed weapons too. It costs a lot of stamina, but if you time it right, it will stagger your opponent, and then you can follow up with a power attack. I was not able to pull it off against the skeletons at the beginning, but did manage it against the human afterward.

Posted by: King Coin Jan 30 2012, 04:36 AM

Scylla gra-Brimo is a fierce warrior!

Aravi had a much tougher time with her first vampire master. I think Scylla gra-Brimo’s heavy armor was an asset in that fight.

Posted by: Grits Jan 30 2012, 12:08 PM

Bashing also works with bows. It’s one of my favorite things. I’ve also seen Vorstag bash with his shield. Rowan tends to stop what she’s doing and just watch him fight sometimes. wub.gif

Scylla looks great. I love how the steel armor looks on women. Not so much on the men.

Posted by: liliandra nadiar Jan 30 2012, 05:51 PM

Remember facing that Master with Chloe, light armor, bow and arrows, it was a long fight with a lot of giving of ground.

Scylla looks great and certainly knows how to make convincing argument. wink.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Jan 31 2012, 04:48 PM

Acadian: I mostly like the changes they made to the orcs, by getting rid of the pig-faces. The women look much better. The men all look like the Incredible Hulk now though...

King Coin: Scylla is made to be a pure melee fighter. Heavy armor, and the most powerful weapon available (i.e. two hander). She is not much good at other things though, like magic. She could use a follower who is either a magician or an archer.

Grits: I have to say, I really like the bashing as well. It is one of the improvements in Skyrim that is actually an improvement. It is hard for me to get in the hang of using the mouse key to block though. I used to have that mapped to the keyboard in Oblivion.

liliandra nadiar: So now Scylla is the Master? wink.gif That was a very close fight even for a heavy armor bruiser like Scylla. Skyrim does not try to balance out your enemies to suit your level like Oblivion did. It is more like Morrowind, and is happy to throw something at you that you have no hope of killing (like 3 Spriggans at once).

Posted by: King Coin Feb 1 2012, 02:28 AM

Odd circles? Yeah they are dragon tombs.

lol, eating all that food while in combat. I don't do that just because I don't like the idea. Aravi has to run away if something like that happens.

Posted by: SubRosa Feb 3 2012, 01:46 AM

Acadian: I think the real question is whether Grits knows that Ulfe is a Daedra Lord's sidekick? wink.gif

King Coin: Those are dragon tombs? Interesting. I am playing a dragon-free game, so I never would have guessed.

I have found that running away usually does no good, because everyone seems to run just as fast as you can. It is not like in Oblivion where you can actually be a speedster. sad.gif

Wow, Illia’s fire is amazing! I haven’t met her yet. That was a neat axe battle. smile.gif

Posted by: Acadian Feb 3 2012, 03:04 AM

The battle between axes was neat. Loved Scylla teabagging dancing over the body of her slain foe.

Illia looks to me quite Cutteresque. wink.gif

Finishing off the Centurion – looks like she’s going for the stones – good girl! ohmy.gif

Posted by: King Coin Feb 3 2012, 03:27 AM

Holy crap he hit like a truck! If you have to chug potions like that, I think Aravi would have had to run away.

Like I said before, those two make quite a pair! I can’t wait for Aravi to meet her eventually.

Oh, she's wearing appropriate armor for an orc!

Posted by: SubRosa Feb 4 2012, 11:43 PM

Grits: Illia's fire is coming from http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Staff_of_Hag%27s_Wrath#Staff_of_Hag.27s_Wrath. Illia gave it to Scylla for helping kill her mother, and Scylla gave it back to Illia because as a mage, it is more up her alley. It creates a really nasty wall of fire, that hangs around for a long time. The only downside is that I often can't see the bad guys in the flames.

I also disabled friendly fire, so Scylla does not get killed by it. Or that Illia does not get her head lopped off by Scylla's axe.

Lately Illia uses her own magic more. She's a really amazing ice mage. She tends to literally send people flying! She is the perfect complement to Scylla's axe.

Acadian: That was one of the more difficult fights I have had. Which is why Scylla could not resist the teabagging dancing on the dead guy's corpse. smile.gif

King Coin: I have found that a lot of the bad guys in this game hit you once, and there goes 80% of your health. It makes the game a lot more nail-biting, because you never know when you are going to run into a wuss you can kill without breaking a sweat, or if you are going to be dead two seconds after first cross axes.

I really liked the second (Through the Flames) screen.

Berserking comes naturally to Scylla I presume?

Heh, I can see why you like that trap so much. That was both effective and hilarious! laugh.gif

Holy crap!! That flame thrower is impressive!! IPB Image
Kharjo would love to get his paws on one. Even though he’s not a mage, he loves using staffs.

Those traps are awesome! Aravi’s used them to her advantage too. I’ve busted out laughing when an enemy charges right into one.

Posted by: Grits Feb 5 2012, 02:33 PM

Orcish is my favorite heavy armor. It looks perfect on Scylla, and somehow also suits my petite Imperial. Very cool that Scylla made it herself.

I did wonder how Scylla was not getting crispy in that fire. Neat that it won’t hurt her. It is, after all, magic fire!

That trap video made me laugh. Bandit: Gah… Fun!

Posted by: SubRosa Feb 6 2012, 04:25 AM

Acadian: That is indeed Button. Her wagon will take you to any of the major cities in Skyrim, for a modest fee. I thought that was an excellent addition to the game. So far Riften is the only city I have found with such a service though.

The Orc Berserk power is much better done in Skyrim then in the previous games. It doubles the damage your character does for 60 seconds, and halves the damage they receive. It turns them into walking wrecking balls. My only problem is I never think to use it.

King Coin: That staff is impressive. Head down to the southern edge of the Rift. It is in a tower down there.

Grits: I still have not seen many of the armors, but of what I have the Orcish and Elven are my favorites. Scylla had to make it herself, and her axe, because she could not find the pieces for sale. They did have plenty of the other Orc gear for sale though of course...

The bandits in Skyrim are just as fun to kill as those in Oblivion. I just love how they taunt you right before you kill them with one of those special moves: "Is that all you got?" Speckt! laugh.gif

Wonderful screenshots, Azura's quest was very cool wasn't it?

Neat to see a wispmother in a video instead of yelling aaaaaaaaaargh while fighting one. They really are beautiful.

Excellent ice circle against the Falmer. Looks like good teamwork.

Scylla looks ready to take on whatever she finds inside Azura’s star! smile.gif

Posted by: SubRosa Feb 10 2012, 03:56 AM

King Coin: Azura's Quest was very well done. It started out seeming like your standard dungeon crawl to get the mcguffin quest, but the second part inside the star was pure genius! So too was the choice the game gives you on whether it will be a regular or black soul gem.

Acadian: I really liked the Wisp Mother too. Well, in appearance that is! wink.gif I am going to have to get to work on a friendly animals mod soon. However, I have noticed that the normal animals like bears and wolves have a proximity threshold, and will only attack you if you get too close to them. So you can often make your way around them. If you see them first that is.

Grits: Scylla and Illia make a perfect team (maybe because they both have two ll's in their names?). Scylla crushes anything that gets near, and Illia either roasts or freezes whatever tries to keep away. Scylla really missed Illia inside Azura's Star! That was a really brutal fight without her.

I started a new character a few days ago. I wanted to see what it was like playing a pure mage, so I created Aradia, an Altmer magician.

That vid was fun! A pure mage looks pretty neat in action! Love her hot partner. smile.gif

Posted by: liliandra nadiar Feb 10 2012, 07:02 AM

Pure mage was/is pretty mean in several cases. Cameron could rip things apart. Even more so when she went out with her wife. Two mages, a flame and a frost Atronach could put a respectable about of hurt out.

Should get my high elf Aquila (conjuring focused battlemage) dusted off.

Posted by: King Coin Feb 11 2012, 04:38 AM

I was wondering when you were going to post her!

Aradia looks natural in that throne. Not getting too comfortable is she?

It’s definitely brighter. I’d prefer a mod that changes the saturation based on weather.

The Sea of Ghosts one is my favorite. I haven’t found that shrine yet!

The video:
laugh.gif that oil is effective!

She’s really thrashing those bandits! I kind of lost interest in my mage character, but now I’m wanting to either get him out again, or start a new character!

Posted by: Grits Feb 11 2012, 09:35 PM

Wow, Aradia is amazing! She never runs out of blue! What a fight in one of my very favorite lairs.

I agree with KC, Aradia looks like a throne is her natural environment.

Posted by: SubRosa Feb 12 2012, 04:52 AM

Acadian: I think you would like the Ascadian Isles region in Morrowind as well! wink.gif I actually got the name Aradia from the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aradia,_or_the_Gospel_of_the_Witches.

The Flame Atronachs got a really huge makeover in Skyrim. They seem to fly around on invisible rollerskates, do somersaults while standing still, and are just generally a lot weirder and more entertaining then in Oblivion.

liliandra nadiar: I had a lot of trouble with Aradia in the first few levels. But after a while she has really gotten quite powerful.

King Coin: Aradia is a high elf, of course she feels comfortable on a throne! laugh.gif The oil is something I have been trying to take advantage of, when I see it. I think you can even knock over lanterns and spill oil out of them. But I have not tried it yet.

Grits: She used to run out of blue a lot. But I found out that Skyrim reduces the magicka regeneration rate to 33% of normal when in combat, and completely turns it off while you are casting a spell. So I made a mod that puts the regen rate back to full all the time, and now she almost never gets down to empty.

I’m surprised an Altmer would deign to sneak anywhere. My mage never did. Lol.

I really like the fire atronachs in this game. The little flips and twirls are entertaining.

I see you’ve got your hotkeys figured out well. I’m still working on getting mine straight.

~~~
Solitude is a pretty town. Aravi feels more at home in Whiterun though.
Holy crap! That’s a heck of a pile of draugr!
That outfit looks familiar…
Posted by: SubRosa Feb 12 2012, 11:18 PM
Aradia sneaks because it gives her time to decide what spells to use. I like the fire atronachs too, they are very entertaining. But it seems that Oblivia wanders away a lot. Half the time it seems she is nowhere to be found when an ice troll is bearing down upon me.
The hotkeys are what make this game playable for me. Thanks to them I rarely have to deal with the menus.
I have been working on the outfit. I did a retexture, renamed it Snow Hawk, made robe and armor version, and put it all in the world in a couple different places.
I quite enjoyed the vid. Pure magery looks fun. Given how quickly a spell can be loosed and its speed of flight in Skyrim, trading fire with an archer seems to favor the mage. What a pair of force multiplying factors! Since I don’t play the game, I have no interest in getting lost in its menus; it is therefore neat how Aradia has sorted out how to change spells without rooting around in her menus. I had to laugh at the fellow talking like Ahnold at the very end.
Great screens. Since I am no fan of scenery shots without characters in them, I like how you almost always retain your character in screens. On the armor, I prefer the stuff she is wearing in the vid.
Thanks for sharing! smile.gif
Posted by: Grits Feb 13 2012, 02:56 AM
Oblivia’s fire and Aradia’s ice make for fun fights. I am not even going to try a pure mage without hotkeys, but I sure enjoy watching how Aradia gets the job done.
I like the Thalmor robes on her, but I’m sure Thorald did not! biggrin.gif
Oh, I forgot to say... Whitengale armor. tongue.gif
Posted by: King Coin Feb 13 2012, 03:00 PM
The white armor is very nice!
Posted by: SubRosa Feb 15 2012, 09:54 PM
Acadian: A pure mage is definitely a different experience from two-handed axe-wielding orc! There are some downsides to trading fire with an archer. Mainly it is when you are a low level mage. The starting destruction spells have a short range. So often you cannot hit them, but they have no trouble hitting you. Aradia was using a second-tier ice spell there, which has a long range. The other thing is of course the archer never runs out of ammo (at least the NPCs), while the mage has to watch that blue bar. Before I modded the game to make magicka regenerate normally in combat, Aradia was running out of blue all the time. Even now in big fights with multiple opponents, she has to watch her blue.
Grits: The hotkeys are what make this game playable for me. Otherwise the terrible UI would just make it impossible. Thankfully I rarely have to look at the interface though. One quirk of the hotkeys though, is that one press loads the spell into your left hand. Then a second key press puts it in your right at well. But it is always in your left hand first. I cannot figure out why that is.
I like the look of the Thalmor Robes too. Aradia was thinking she might try to blend in and pretend to be part of the garrison. But of course by then she had killed them all! biggrin.gif
You know, I am tempted to call the mod Whitengale Armor now! laugh.gif
King Coin: I think of the white armor as snow camo. I like it much better then the default nightingale color.
I restarted Aradia to play with my new Main Quest Disabler mod. She is currently 3rd level again and exploring around Riverwood. Though she will eventually get up the gumption to head up to Whiterun and tell the Jarl about the dragon that rescued her and the Stormcloaks destroyed Helgen.
I really like the environmental things that Bethesda put in. Aravi always notices those lamp AFTER she’s killed someone with her swords or arrows. A little frustrating. Lol.
Exiting the game to mod the range of those spells eh? laugh.gif
Aravi found a variant of the furs that have long sleeves. She’s never going to get rid of them.
Posted by: SubRosa Feb 18 2012, 09:35 PM
Acadian: Her snow white clothes will make a reappearance soon. As well as a new pair of boots. I would not expect even a faint smile from Aradia though. She is a High Elf after all, and above such things. wink.gif
liliandra nadiar: Of course she looks down on everyone. She's about a foot taller then them! laugh.gif
Grits: Funny thing is, when I switch to 1st person, Aradia is shorter then everyone else. There is at least a foot difference between the two povs. I usually forget about those pots, and the oil on the floor. I think I actually read about them in the game manual.
King Coin: It is amazing to compare one of the ES games to Bioware games like the Kotor and Mass Effect serieses. Even as far back as Morrowind, the ES games had lots of clutter in them, that made the world seem so much more alive. The Bioware games are all stark and empty, and none of them seem like real places where people live.
Thanks for the screens!
Nice view toward *sigh* Cyrodiil. Somewhere over the rainbow mountains, it is green. And warm.
Love the name Bone Jovi! Shot through the heart! tongue.gif
Aradia looks a bit severe from a distance, but in the close up, I quite like her features. smile.gif
I very much like that clothing she made from furs! It looks great on Aradia.
Edit: And you added a vid! Fun to watch our spell slinger in action. And Aradia's Familiar - a ghost wolf of course. That way she can cast over his head!
Posted by: SubRosa Feb 19 2012, 02:49 AM
I added in a short vid as well.
Posted by: King Coin Feb 19 2012, 05:44 AM
Those screens looking over the mountains are beautiful!
I have to agree with Acadian, up close she has very nice features. smile.gif
Beautiful retexture.
Aradia’s just blowing them off the towers! laugh.gif
I like the little howl at the end. The ‘discovery’ sound effect is something I like to hear too.
Posted by: Grits Feb 19 2012, 12:17 PM
I like your summonings far better than the vanilla ones, of course. Bone Jovi looks great!
Aradia has a much softer look in her close-up, very nice. I especially like her eye color.
Oh, great idea to make her furs an outfit! Excellent snow camo armor. It makes me wonder about using white furs in an outfit. Aradia would look quite regal decked out in snowy sabre cat fur!
Very fun video. I see that range is no longer an issue!! biggrin.gif It gives my own budding destructionist hope. Aradia’s familiar is awesome. Nice to see her still there at the end of the battle. (Girl wolf? Just guessing.)
Posted by: SubRosa Feb 20 2012, 01:34 AM
Acadian: It is strange how Aradia looks more severe from a distance then she does up close. I have no idea why that is.
King Coin: Once you take out all of the greyness, Skyrim can be a pretty place to look at, especially the mountains.
I just love blasting baddies off of things and watching them fall. Bridges, cliffs, you name it. The Ice Spike spell is good for that, as it has a lot of knockback.
Grits: There are not very many vanilla summonings! Aradia's familiar was still around because I am using my Improved Familiars mod, that beefs them up to make them useful. I have spent the weekend working on mods to change that. The next one will be my animal summoning mod, that still needs a number of finishing touches, like a new perk tree for summoning them.
White furs would be a neat idea for a mod. If I can find a way to do it without editing the .nif files I might do it. Right now I cannot do anything more than look at the meshes with nifskope.
The elk is beautiful! Of course, ALL waterfalls are beautiful. I expect those are tree roots in the Eldergleam screen, but I want to think of them as the bones of mammoths – like a sacred burial ground for the giant pachyderms. And a bard with a lute! I quite like the bits of fur armor, but agree with Aradia that they belong only in a warmer clime! tongue.gif
QUOTE(SubRosa @ Feb 19 2012, 02:34 PM) *
Aradia wonders how those Bretons can wear this stuff without getting frostbite?
Who says they don't? Bretons do have a bonus toward Restoration after all. Azula recommends dressing http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b74/Liliandra_Nadair/LiliOblivion/TESV2012-02-1912-41-38-39.jpg like she and Jenassa do. No point in become brain frozen like the rest of the barbarians in the land do after all.
Posted by: Grits Feb 20 2012, 04:55 AM
Nice catch on the elk superhighway! That’s a great shot!
Looks like Aradia found Jensa’s favorite outfit. It’s good for soaking up the sun. With vanilla skies she has to be careful not to develop a vitamin D deficiency. smile.gif
Posted by: King Coin Feb 20 2012, 05:15 AM
Eldergleam is a beautiful place.
Those Bretons must be part Nord!
Posted by: SubRosa Feb 21 2012, 10:57 PM
Acadian: Funny thing is, that elk pic was taken without using an animal friend mod. Usually the elk and other prey animals flee your character. This fella just stood there and stared at Aradia.
Those were indeed roots in the Eldergleam pics. There are places with large piles of mammoth bones however, just like you imagined. It always makes me wonder what killed them.
liliandra nadiar: Aradia put that Forsworn stuff away almost as soon as she put it on, and got back into her furs. She might like that top the one in the left in your pic is wearing though.
Grits: Jensa can wear that because she has a 50% Frost Resistance! Sometimes I wonder if the developers thought they were making a game set in a jungle, rather than icy mountains.
King Coin: I like Eldergleam's cave too. I just wish it was bit better lit.
Primrose looks great! She's my favorite so far. smile.gif
I love the picture of Primrose and her horse.
Posted by: Acadian Feb 22 2012, 01:55 AM
A wood elf with a horse! Can't beat that. 'Sides, it gets her poor bare feet up off that cold Skyrim ground!
When is she gonna put that henna dye that is on her face into her hair, move to Cyrodiil and start writing? You know, maybe join the Fighters Guild and settle down with a nice Dunmeri lass and learn how to summon bears and ravens. wink.gif
Posted by: liliandra nadiar Feb 22 2012, 02:21 AM
Both outfits were actually part of the same progression path for http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=7818. Azula was in the base level, Jenassa was in the final version (without the optional backpack). If it wasn't for Azula being a full on Destruction mage, it'd be her outfit of choice. It's between Elven and Glass in AR. There's also a version for Oblivion too if Teresa wants a casual(ish) look.
Primrose looks ready to turn large, aggressive lizard-like creatures into free roaming quivers.
Posted by: King Coin Feb 22 2012, 04:58 AM
Woah! She’s heavy on the paint! I like her still. smile.gif You did a wonderful job on the face. Barefoot too! I suppose Aravi couldn’t be the only one forever.
Posted by: SubRosa Feb 25 2012, 09:33 PM
Grits: Primrose is my favorite so far as well. The most difficult character as well, since archery at low levels is not very effective.
Acadian: Primrose came from Cyrodiil. She learned the henna in the hair trick from her mother, who also taught her to shoot the bow, mix potions, and summon animals. wink.gif
liliandra nadiar: I tried the Roadstoker outfit. It causes a CTD on startup, like every other mod packaged in a .bsa does to me. I have it for Oblivion, and it works fine there.
Primrose has not met any large lizard like creatures, nor will she ever thanks to my dragon disabler mod. There are still Argonians though...
King Coin: The face paint makes me think of Primrose as my Japanese elf. wink.gif She has finally taken to wearing shoes however. It gets too cold walking barefoot in the snow.
Wow, those auroras are beautiful! Excellent shot!
That's a nice little camp. There's a portable campsite mod out just to let you know though.
I like the elven armor but furs, leather, or hide armor seems to be more suitable for a woodsy character. I still like the forsworn 'armor' even though it is ridiculous. biggrin.gif
Aravi's foot wraps are enchanted with resist frost. That, and her own fur keeps her warm.
Posted by: Grits Feb 25 2012, 11:42 PM
I love Primrose's campsite!! Her background sounds fascinating, I hope we get to hear some more of it. smile.gif
I'm sure that Primrose's animal friends also prefer her in the Elven armor. My big, sweaty Nord still loves her Forsworn bikini, but even she won't wear the matching silly hat. tongue.gif
I love the way you composed the aurora shot with the trees and moons.
Posted by: Acadian Feb 26 2012, 02:48 AM
Thanks for the great screens! She looks quite at home with the critters and at her campsite. My fave shot is definitely ‘Against the Mountains’. I like the up close look at Primrose, as well as her armor. That fur ‘kini is too skimpy and the metal stuff is too, well, metal. tongue.gif
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 1 2012, 09:50 PM
King Coin: I tried that portable campsite mod, but it did not do much for me.
Grits: Those skyline shots are always difficult, because getting in the sky often means losing everything else. Especially when I try to get the moons in.
Acadian: Primrose decided to pack away the elven armor in her tree stump and has gone back to wearing the furs.
Wow, Primrose is an impressive archer!! I remember Rowan and Vorstag’s trip through Darkshade. It was a bloodbath. Mostly theirs.
Posted by: King Coin Mar 1 2012, 11:22 PM
Love the auroras in that second screen.
I remember that place. Ugh, Aravi did not enjoy her first encounter with trolls.
Wow! Nice shooting on that first one! Never got to see that perk used before.
Two arrows each! I don't think archery is as weak as people on the forums have been complaining.
Posted by: Acadian Mar 2 2012, 01:17 AM
Great screens, war paint and all! tongue.gif
In the first few moments of the vid a butterfly zips right in front of the camera, so I was happy. Then, even happier when PrimRosa found an underground waterfall! Woot! Certainly worth killin’ a few trolls for. Just a touch of that troll fat is wonderful in your hair conditioner (but don't tell anyone). Very elegant dungeon crawl – that’s the way to do it - - no one even knew she was there. wink.gif
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 4 2012, 09:31 PM
Grits: The long-sleeved furs suit Primrose to a tee. I tried the elven armor for a while, but it was just too fancy.
It took her a long time to get that good with archery, and with stealth. She has the triple sneaking damage with bows perk now, which helps a lot. Her current bow is also smithed up to nearly twice the base damage, plus an extra 17 points of fire.
King Coin: It is extremely weak when you start out. You do not do much damage, and you move slower then a pregnant cow wink.gif I rearranged the perks so that you get the Ranger perk a lot earlier, so you can move normally with a drawn bow. That makes a huge difference. In the early days, it was Primrose's summoned Familiar that kept her alive, not her bow.
Primrose is about 20th level or so in that vid, and has concentrated on archery, and taking its perks. She also has a number of magic items that increase her bow damage. Between them and her Overdraw perks, she doubles her damage with a bow. Plus the chance to critical and do extra damage. Then she also has all those things I mentioned to Grits above. Now she can one-shot a lot of bad guys. But it took a long time and a lot of specialization to get here.
Acadian: That was a dungeon crawl where everything went right. She did not even need to summon her sabre cat to protect her. I assure you, it often does not go so well!
You can actually rip the wings off the butterflies and use them in alchemy. Not that any of my characters would ever do that. Troll fat for hair conditioner? Primrose has been using it to shave her legs with (animal fat was one of the original shaving creams) smile.gif
Fun screens! I love that fur armor she wears now! It is perfect for her and I really like the detail of how you see where it is sewn together. That is a great shot of the smith giving PrimRosa the eye. devilsmile.gif Yay, Kharjo! Yikes, I can smell the breath from that bear! ohmy.gif
Posted by: King Coin Mar 5 2012, 05:05 AM
Oh I love that mountain picture. Very pretty, seeing the land stretched out like that.
The Skull! I don’t see a weapon in hand, so I assume that it got banished to Oblivion as well in Primrose’s story.
Kharjo! biggrin.gif
I think Aravi passed that Dwemer ruin. She bypassed it because at the time she didn’t want to get in any fights.
Posted by: Grits Mar 5 2012, 08:57 PM
What a smile from Rustleif! biggrin.gif
Nice to see Kharjo. happy.gif And very nice to see a happy bear face. My characters only get to see teeth.
Primrose is quite a climber! I was going to call the dwarven ruin shot “Dragon Bait,” but then I remembered that Primrose lives under friendly skies.
These are great! smile.gif
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 6 2012, 10:05 PM
Acadian: That smith's smile was as faint as any of Primrose's mother. wink.gif I had to capture it on film pixels.
King Coin: Primrose would never have betrayed Erandur. Besides, what is she going to do with that staff? Use it as a back scratcher?
Primrose actually bypassed that ruin too. She was on her way back to Dawnstar after doing a fetch and carry for the ship captain, and was already loaded down with loot. But she could not resist climbing up top of those buildings for a picture. wink.gif
Grits: Primrose sometimes sees bear teeth, when they are ripping apart someone who is mean to her. wink.gif Primrose loves climbing up things, especially mountains. I think she gets that from her mother too.
Prim seems to have some wiry muscles on her to haul around the scrap she found there. Makes her moms proud I bet.
Posted by: Acadian Mar 7 2012, 02:41 AM
Nice little Thalmar encounter in the first vid. It really shows Child of the Faint Smile’s ability to meld bow with summoned ball of teeth & fur.
Then a long dungeon crawl. I’m a little glowing mushroom; they keep me in the dark and feed me. . . oh, well, um Primrose certainly got some fine fungal picking done along with some great snipe shots vs Falmer. The dungeon was very spooky and atmospheric.
I had to chuckle when she got stuck behind Sabrina (that’s what I’ve named her Saber Cat) and had to resummon the cat behind her. Yikes, those Chaurus things looked tough - mudcrabs on steroids? That Dwarven Centurian was a challenge. Yay for Sabrina! tongue.gif
Having to shoulder her bow to cast spells. Ugh. Clearly the devs don't play mystic archers. kvleft.gif
Now when Primrose got to that big waterfall and there were no foes around I thought surely she would display the instincts of a woodster, doff her furs and play in the water some. Noooooooo . . . . wink.gif
Posted by: Grits Mar 7 2012, 02:50 AM
What a great fight against the Thalmor! Primrose’s sabre cat is awesome. Fun to get a little help from a local wolf, too. Not so fun to have a dead chick on the rock. I guess she didn’t make it.
Primrose looked so neat sneaking through the glowing mist. Shimmermist is where Rowan mistook Vorstag for a chaurus in the dark and attacked him with a vicious dual flurry. Prompting him to quietly say, “Hey.”
I love how the sabre cat flops down on the ground after the fight!! Even when she’s a little bit in the way. Good kitty. smile.gif
Posted by: King Coin Mar 7 2012, 04:15 AM
I like how the sabre cat settled down after the fight. biggrin.gif
Aravi did this cave! Falmer! It’s pretty without them isn’t it?
Primrose is really going after those ingredients. I don’t think I was ever so happy to see a sabre cat than when Primrose summoned one to fight the chaurus.
That centurion was a nasty surprise when Aravi did that one. She actually went behind the falmer in there to slit his throat…
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 10 2012, 05:50 AM
liliandra nadiar: She has something that boosts her stamina, though I am not sure what. She also enchanted her boots to increase her carrying capacity. So she is a regular ox!
Acadian: That is one of the spookier Skyrim dungeons I have been in. The Falmer lairs always are. Sabrina, how perfect! Though it is going to make me think of the Teenage Sabre Cat. No baths for Primrose in that place. It was just too darn creepy. Her favorite spot are the rapids outside Whiterun. There are a few little baby waterfalls that you can just ride along with. Sort of like an ES waterslide.
Grits: That was a rousing fight with the Thalmor. Primrose is a Stormcloak sympathizer, and when she saw them standing over the body of that dead Stormcloak, something snapped in her, and it was killin' time. The sabre cat acts like a real cat: i.e. lazy! smile.gif Also like a real cat, it likes to get in your way, so you have to pay attention to it. Though the other summonings are like that too.
King Coin: That place is creepy even without the Falmer! The lighting is all too weird. It is really dark, and really bright, at the same time. Primrose could not wait to get back out under the stars once more, and find a nice, friendly wolf pack to lie down to sleep in.
Also, a mod I found that I adore for anyone of mine that uses bows. It removes that annoying http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=7716 between the quiver and your back.
Your new character is beautiful! Favors the ax eh?
Posted by: Grits Mar 10 2012, 08:47 PM
That’s a great shot of Hrafn and Ralof! I like the way axes hang from the belt better than swords. Hrafn demonstrates that being a warrior is no excuse for neglecting one’s grooming. She looks lovely! smile.gif
Posted by: Acadian Mar 11 2012, 01:23 AM
Those are great screens!
Your new warrior looks wonderful. Very pretty with a sexy scar just to keep her real. I suspect she will have more fun - that is assuming the carpet matches the drapes. wink.gif
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 12 2012, 12:17 AM
liliandra nadiar: Neat mod! I just downloaded it and put it to use. Thanks!
King Coin: The axe is such an iconic nordic weapon, that I could not resist. Although Hrafn might eventually use a sword at some time in the future. It all depends on what she finds in her travels.
Grits: I had fun working on that shot with Ralof. I missed it the first time I tried getting the pic. So I reloaded the autosave from when they stepped outside so I could try again. I like the way the axes sling into your belt too. Makes a lot more sense then having them swinging around next to your leg! ohmy.gif
Acadian: You skewered me with the scar. That is exactly why I included it. I wanted to have her eye on that side of her head be missing as well. But they did not have an option for one blue right eye, and one missing left one. Too bad, it would have gone perfectly with the scar. sad.gif
The carpet does indeed match the curtains! Sadly, Hrafn did not have the chance to have as much fun with Ralof as she would have liked... sad.gif
Close relationship – Methinks someone’s been playing with corpses. Know an elf named Falanu? Oh well, I guess Hrafn didn’t bring her bags for tea. embarrased.gif
New armor – Yes! The metal stuff works with this character. And very well! Nothing says subtle like steel and an axe. tongue.gif
Draugr whacking, mage mauling and archer axing - All in a day’s work! ohmy.gif
Cleans up pretty well - By Kynareth’s wings, I’ll say so!!! happy.gif
Hrafn looks a little surprised at the bandits' activities. ohmy.gif laugh.gif
I like that armor, I haven't been able to use it on a character yet though.
The shot of the mage was a really good one.
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 12 2012, 07:59 PM
Acadian: No playing with corpses. That is how they fell. Hrafn does not like her tea that way! wink.gif
Grits: Hrafn originally forged herself a set of steel armor, but it looked too girly on her, with the way it showed off her figure. So she went with the banded cuirass instead. It has a more rugged look. Although she keep the steel for the gauntlets and boots.
King Coin: I like that banded armor too. I think Hrafn will probably pass on the orcish and dwarven, and keep wearing it. At least until ebony.
I cannot count how many of those kill cams pics I have taken, and had to throw away because it wound up being a picture of the floor, of the back of a bandit's head, etc... It is difficult to find one that actually looks good.
Posted by: King Coin Mar 13 2012, 04:59 AM
I had to peek at the journal entry before coming back here. Poor girl, now I know why she look so sad in the first screen. sad.gif
I hope she felt a little better after bashing some skulls and drinking herself to sleep. lol.
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 14 2012, 12:23 AM
Grits: I finally found a pose mod for Skyrim. That sad face was the first thing I used it for.
Acadian: Lots of ale and mead! But Hrafn can rise to any challenge. wink.gif
King Coin: If nothing else, skull-bashing and mead-pounding does keep her mind occupied.
More screens of Hrafn!
In the first vid, she was wise to back up into a corridor to channel her foes. Yikes, getting disarmed was pretty scary!
Was she allied with the sprig in the second vid? Do they like Nordic girls?
Posted by: Grits Mar 14 2012, 02:08 AM
Axe to the throat, nice!
That was a great fight against the draugr. Hrafn is awesome with the shield bash!
How strange that the troll was running away. Maybe it had been injured in a fight against the dead spriggan and then ran off to heal itself? What a neat encounter!
Posted by: King Coin Mar 14 2012, 03:29 PM
Aravi’s been disarmed before, Not fun! I think Aravi just clawed the guy that did it though. Lol. Can’t totally disarm a Khajiit.
Curalmil was tough! You went through a lot of potions.
The spriggan video was weird. Why didn’t it attack you? Are you running your nature mod with this character too?
You got some good ax finisher shots too.
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 15 2012, 07:16 PM
Acadian: Those guys were coming out of every corner of that final boss room. I am sure they would have overwhelmed Hrafn if she had not channeled them all into the corridor, where she could fight them one at a time.
Spriggans do indeed like Nordic girls in my game. Elven girls too, and Orc girls, etc... wink.gif
Grits: It has taken me a while to get used to the shield and axe combo. Using the left mouse button to bash with, as well as attack with the weapon in your right hand, is confusing. In Oblivion you could hold down the block key all the time and still attack normally. In Skyrim you wind up bashing instead. I will click to swing with the axe, but bash with the shield because I still have the block key held down.
I do like the bashing in this game though. The bash/chop makes a great combo. Plus bashing when someone is making a power attack will break up their attack. That block perk that slows down time when an opponent power attacks is great for that.
King Coin: The Spriggan/Troll encounter was very strange. When I first saw the troll, it ran right past Hrafn, and had these weird glowing green spots all over it. I guess that was from the Spriggan's attack.
I am using my Animal Friend mod with Hrafn as well. I'll probably use it for all my future characters, as it keeps the ordinary animals from attacking, which is really how it should be, since wolves and bears really are not homicidal maniacs that attack every living thing they see.
Love the house you made. Fits right in the town and it looks very cozy inside.
The College looks very precarious. I hope they've done some magic to keep things balanced and from falling apart!
The Sea of Ghosts one is very pretty. It makes me wonder what a polar excursion would be like.
Posted by: Grits Mar 15 2012, 07:46 PM
I love Hrafn's house! Like KC said, it looks cozy and it fits right in. I am not very familiar with the Dawnstar area. It looks icily beautiful!
Posted by: Acadian Mar 16 2012, 12:08 AM
Oh, that is a great looking cottage indeed! It suits Hrafn perfectly. I love those Skyrim horny candlelamp things.
And several more great screens. In the one you called Stone Cold (gee, they all look cold to me) I presume Hrafn got frosted by a mage was axing the mage to cease and desist? viking.gif
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 17 2012, 08:06 PM
King Coin: The house fits so well because its interior is basically a copy and paste of another home in Dawnstar, with just a few changes to make it more Hrafn-like. Finding a place to put it was not easy though. Bethesda shoe-horned most of the settlements into their surroundings, making it harder then you would first imagine to add new buildings to them.
I think a polar excursion would be very cold and wet, since they did not give us a waterwalking spell. I still don't know what they were thinking. Most of the water in this game is in the frozen arctic, and they expect people to swim through it? The reason I waited to explore it with a Nord was her 50% cold resistance.
Grits: I am not familiar with the Dawnstar area either. That is why I made it Hrafn's home. It gives me a good reason for her to spend a lot of time exploring the entire region.
Acadian: I guess you could say that Hrafn does not like getting the cold shoulder. So she had to tell that mage to cut out the bs... wink.gif
I know Nords are a hearty race, but I wasn't expecting their hair to be able push through metal. tongue.gif Hrafn's picked up some new armor I see. Was it just for dealing with impolite hosts? Blondie seems to like her little toys to have a little extra kick. Or is it utility to use an axe with fire enchantment to cook her food? tongue.gif
Posted by: Acadian Mar 18 2012, 12:54 AM
Hrafn looks so much better with an enchanted circlet than some horny clippy helm anyways. kvleft.gif
‘Taking in the View’ was spectacular! cool.gif
Awww, she looks simply beautiful in ‘Home in Dawnstar. wub.gif
Yikes, those Falmer are some creepy looking elves! ohmy.gif They lend credence to Buffy’s theory that goblins are a form of elf. Well, they were just axing for trouble. wink.gif
Posted by: Grits Mar 18 2012, 04:33 PM
All of the blue in Taking in the View makes the Sea of Ghosts look almost inviting. Sort of like an iced tropical drink. That circlet looks so pretty with Hrafn’s eyes. smile.gif
Posted by: King Coin Mar 18 2012, 04:48 PM
'Taking in the view' and Dawnstar are very pretty! You have a beautiful character.
You had me groaning with all the puns afterword though. I was expecting a Dwemer Centurion with the steamed one. tongue.gif
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 18 2012, 11:37 PM
liliandra nadiar: That is hard hair for you. I guess she should stop putting the quicklime in it to make it stand up? laugh.gif
Acadian: The Falmer are indeed creepy elves. They have been living underground for so long that they are blind, and tend to eat people. They are basically horror movie mutant villains.
Grits: Sadly I accidentally sold that circlet, but she did get another one. The wrong color though, the new one is green. sad.gif
King Coin: Funny you should mention the Centurion, Hrafn spent yesterday and this afternoon exploring Blackreach, and fought several of those monstrosities.
‘Evening in Dawnstar’ – Very pretty night picture. The snow nestling in the pines. The little cutie in the white top walking up the trail. How the moon picks up the glint off Hrafn’s right boob. biggrin.gif
Blackreach - More of the pretty blue jellyfish trees! smile.gif
‘Putting Down a Falmer’ -Ugh, Falmer have gone from creepy to gross now. ohmy.gif
Farmer Flamer Falmer Hunting’ – What a beautiful profile shot of our attractive Nord! happy.gif
Hrafn’s new armor looks very nice. As I've said, metal suits her well. goodjob.gif
Posted by: Grits Mar 19 2012, 12:50 AM
I just love Blackreach! It’s so strange and beautiful.
Hrafn has been busy at the forge, nice! Ebony is still my favorite axe. It's a shame she can't smith herself a new circlet, but treasure hunts are fun. Fingers crossed that Hrafn finds some blue bling. biggrin.gif
Posted by: King Coin Mar 19 2012, 04:19 AM
Love the big moon on Dawnstar. Your Dawnstar doesn't look as chilly as mine does. That mod at work no doubt.
Blackreach is a fascinating place. Aravi was able to avoid most of the Centurions. You found a certain someone down there from Oblivion right?
Aravi hates Falmer and their bugs even worse. They are almost as bad as spiders in Aravi's book. And a whole lot more deadly.
I love the way Ebony looks in this game. To me it's a big improvement over the way it looked in Oblivion.
@Grits: There are mods out that make circlets craftable. wink.gif
Posted by: SubRosa Mar 22 2012, 07:34 PM
Acadian: I like that evening in Dawnstar pic a lot. But that profile view of Hrafn hunting Falmer is probably my all time favorite of her. It was actually a kill cam pic of her. You never know what you are going to get when you hit the printscreen button during those. Most of what comes out is just garbage. But sometimes you get a real gem.
Grits: Blackreach was very neat. I reminded me of the Underdark, from D&D. I kept expecting to see dark elves, driders, and the spider queen. I did make myself a crafting mod to let me craft my own circlets, and Hrafn has a couple of new ones in the latest pics. Re-enchanting them meant taking a loss in the effect (since her enchanting is not very high, and she has no perks in it), but they do look better, and that is what is most important after all.
King Coin: Hrafn did find that certain someone, and his journal. sad.gif Just last night she dropped off the crimson nirnroots with the dunmer near Riften. One good thing about those steam centurions, is that you can put them to use. Hrafn ran across a chaurus reaper near one of the centurion in its rack. She ran back there and turned it on. Then she hid while the centurion wiped out the reaper.
I like the ebony in this game, but I think I preferred the version in Oblivion. I love all the gold scrollwork it has there. It makes it look like something only the ultra rich would afford.
I didn't like it at all. The yellow paint put me off.
I don't think the giants needed any help, but it's the thought that counts right? Aravi just steers clear of any conflict involving giants.
Wow! I wonder where all those atronachs came from? Good thing they don't go out like the fire ones do!
Posted by: Acadian Mar 23 2012, 12:41 AM
‘but they do look better, and that is what is most important after all.’
Quoted for Truth! happy.gif
Walking on Sunshine! Hrafn looks like a woman in love with her feet not even touching the ground. tongue.gif Oh noes, now I’m going to have that song in my head. . . .
Start a fire, tap a keg and pop some corn heads! ohmy.gif
Vid 1: Kisses and kudos to Hrafn for defending mammoths. They are magnificent! Oh, and how nice to see her using a bow! wink.gif
Vid 2: Crushed ice anyone? Just axing. . . . viking.gif
Posted by: Grits Mar 23 2012, 02:19 PM
The new circlet looks great! I’m sure that six foot two with eyes of blue Hrafn doesn’t really need the whole enchantment anyway, at least not as much as the right color stones in the circlet. biggrin.gif
That was a fun video with the mammoths and giants, with an uh-oh moment when the giant’s health bar popped up. I guess the giants haven’t talked to the spriggans to learn that Hrafn is on their side!
Three Frost Atronachs, what the heck?! Those wolves didn’t stand a chance. Hrafn’s flame enchantment came in very handy! I like the occasional wandering daedra presumably escaped from its conjurer, it reminds me why some people are against summoning in the first place.
Posted by: SubRosa Apr 2 2012, 09:07 PM
King Coin: I believe that was not supposed to be yellow paint on the Oblivion ebony, but gold inlays. I guess they did not do it very well though! laugh.gif
I think the Frost Atronachs are a regular encounter up there. One of my other characters ran across a trio of them in the same general area as well. They just go on a rampage and kill everything around.
Acadian: When you walk around the edges of cliff in Skryrim, you often find your character walking in thin air like that. The game seems to have trouble telling where the ground is. It can be hilarious when you realize it.
Grits: You are right, she did not need much enchantment after all. At that point Hrafn was an awesome monster basher. Edgar and Alan Frog even said so. wink.gif
As those who have read the Today in Skyrim topic know, I stopped playing Hrafn after a glitch in the civil war questline, that prevents her from going any further with it. Over the weekend I created two new characters that I have been fiddling with.
Sorry to hear about the troubles with Hrafn’s game. I had hoped that, as a blonde, she would have more fun. wink.gif
Kachina’s gorgeous! Inspired by Lady Saga? Who knew our Renee was such a hawtie! Okay, I’m just joshin’ around. tongue.gif I definitely see the Cherokee type influence inspired by Renee’s ideas however. Well done!
Babd looks more the gothie that often animates your characters. That Triss armor looks great on her. I tried the Oblivion version on Buffy but it put about 30 pounds on her and was definitely cut for women of more. . . Nordic proportions. kvleft.gif The Sky version looks cut very nicely however. Rattles looks neat and certainly seems to suit his Mistress of the Dark.
Posted by: King Coin Apr 3 2012, 02:06 AM
Does Lady Saga know she’s set a trend? bigsmile.gif You did a great job on Kachina. Like Acadian said, she’s gorgeous!
Weird with the necromancer… huh.gif Did he have anything unique to say? Or was he just another dude?
Babd looks much more creepy. I like Kachina better.
Posted by: Grits Apr 3 2012, 03:28 AM
Kachina looks great! I like the one at the standing stones the best. She sounds like a Bosmer without the bow and unfortunate appearance. (My attempts at a female Bosmer resulted in a male Bosmer and a praying mantis.) Is Kachina still unarmed?
Babd looks like she enjoys the company of skeletons. blink.gif I like her boots!
Posted by: SubRosa Apr 8 2012, 04:04 AM
Acadian: One of the nicer things about Skyrim is that you can actually select a body type during character creation, basically making them either slender or beefy. I think because of that, the clothing tends to be more reasonable, since it has to 'fit' a body type anywhere in that range. But I could be wrong.
King Coin: The necromancer did not have any speech topics. Nothing happened when Kachina clicked on the Talk option, no matter how many times I tried. When she came back out again after clearing the cave he was suddenly hostile, so she had to kill him.
Grits: Kachina is a mage, so she is never unarmed wink.gif You should play Skyrim on your PC, then you could get the boots, and the rest of the outfit. It is from a Triss clothing mod (I guess Triss is a character from The Witcher?)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Skyrim/Skyrim156.jpg
I decided to create a new character, to try at least some of the Companions questline with, and take another crack at the civil war. I disabled my no dragon mod to see if that makes a difference. So it also means doing some of the main quest, at least more then bleak falls barrow.
Ulfdis looks great! ‘Nother blonde! tongue.gif Marked by a wolf as a child – reminds me of other young girls similarly marked (Aela by a cave lion, Alawen by a mountain lion) – great stories all! goodjob.gif I like the scar on her cheek. That first fighting screen (‘marked by Ulfdis’ sword’) is neat – she gave that bandit’s quiver a drain hole for when it rains. wink.gif Loved the screen of Ulfdis pondering that wall map. Shot through the heart by Uldis Bongiovi; now I’m gonna have that song stuck in my head. Gee, freeing that guy from the Thalmor didn’t get her much thanks from him, did it? kvleft.gif
Posted by: King Coin Apr 9 2012, 12:55 AM
Looks like Kachina might have found a Daedra Lord? I’ve never seen that before. Doesn’t look pleasant though.
Ulfdis is very pretty. You have a knack for creating good faces. I’ve never been good with face gen.
Those last two screens, Aravi was just there. She went through the inhabitants of the cave very quickly. My favorite screen is the one of her standing in front of them map. goodjob.gif
EDIT: You should have let the prisioner beat on the last guard a little more. biggrin.gif
Posted by: Grits Apr 9 2012, 01:35 AM
I like Ulfdis’ hair and eye color combination. Great shots against the bandits!
The roving Thalmor are what got Jensa involved with the Stormcloaks. By the time she got to Windhelm to curse at Ulfric, the Thalmor had her ready to join up.
Good luck with the start of the MQ! Do you think that Ulfdis will have a journal? I miss Hrafn's musings. smile.gif
Posted by: SubRosa Apr 10 2012, 11:21 PM
Acadian: Well she's not exactly a blond. Not a red-head either. She's sort of in between. I wanted a hair color I had not done before, and I was running out!
Aela and the cave lion is where I got the idea for Ulfdis. She is an orphan, who was discovered near Bruma. Her parents had been killed, and she had been cared for by wolves in their absence. The wolves marked her, so that all of their kind would know she was one of their own.
I was also thinking of that same song! I guess some things are just inescapable, Bone Jovi among them.
King Coin: That one of Kachina is from a Nordic barrow south of Falkreath. There is an uber-draugr in it somehow draining the life energy of people. To maintain his unholy existence no doubt.
It is easy to make attractive faces in Skyrim - at least human ones. Much more so then in Oblivion. The presets, combined with the fewer things you can change, mean you cannot mess it up too much. Most of the presets are good to go as they are. Just clean up the dirt and warpaint so you can actually see the face. Then if they need it, do a little tweaking. The main thing to try to do is make sure the features (eyes, nose, mouth) are symmetrical. Keep them regularly spaced, and you will have a face that looks good.
Grits: I took a long time deciding on the color of her eyes and hair. I am glad someone appreciated it. Like I was saying to Acadian, I went with the auburn hair because I have not had a character with that color before. Then I spent a lot of time deciding on the eyes, and eventually I went with the amber eyes because they matched her hair.
The Thalmor patrols hauling off Nords makes it hard for me to side with the Empire. Not to mention the Imperials doing the same. After starting the game on the headsman's block, it is difficult to play a character who feels no empathy for someone else in the same place.
I would like to write a journal for Ulfdis, but I am holding off to see if her game gets borked like Hrafn's did. I don't want to put all that effort into it, just to find out the character is stuck again. If she does get past that point, then I probably will. I just got past the point where Hrafn's game was stuck. W00t! Now I have a lot to write to get Ulfdis up to date.
Oops on the hair. I figured she just had some of that Skyrim ‘realism’ in it that would wash out. wink.gif I took another look and agree that strawberry blondish reddish is right. Regardless, she looks nice!
Great screens! I see Ulfdis prefers full metal penetration to talking. The night shot at Whiterun and the picture of the Sea of Ghosts are both very neat. She teamed up with Erik the Slayer? I wonder if that’s where little Slayers come from? blink.gif biggrin.gif
