Mmmm tasty beginning to chapter five. I always had a soft spot for Aryon, dunno why really. I'm never very good with spell casting characters... tongue.gif

Anyways, looking forward to seeing how Sethyas will deal with the reclusive Baladas.

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 20 2006, 07:45 AM

Oh, Telvanni are so funny. Watch out for Therana, she's totally nuts. And Neloth, don't expect any pay.

Heh, I had the easy way out. I was already Arch-Magister. Sethyas will have to do things the hard way.

Posted by: artemis Nov 20 2006, 01:04 PM

Nice lets see how he deals with these wizards. biggrin.gif

Posted by: mplantinga Nov 21 2006, 01:49 AM

I'm intrigued (always) by the Telvanni's total lack of concern about the position of Hortator. For a house so firmly rooted in succession by violence, I would have expected a somewhat more demanding process to earning the title.

A great start to chapter 5. As always, I'll look forward to the next update.

Posted by: Kiln Nov 21 2006, 03:34 PM

Great beginning of the fifth chapter here mate, I always did like Aryon and enjoyed the character's conversation with him in this update greatly. I'll be waiting to see what happens next so please continue.

Posted by: Taillus Nov 21 2006, 05:56 PM

What a wonderful beginning to chapter 5 my friend. You never cease to amaze me and this time is no exception. It was a great read all around and I look forward to the rest of the chapter!

Posted by: minque Nov 22 2006, 09:48 PM

Ah yes....Telvanni, those crazy mages, that will indeed be a challenge for dear Sethyas. But of course he will deal with them in his very own way....

Canīt wait for the next update!

Right, next thing you know, I will be dating Almalexia, and raising wild werewolves.

Hehe, that sounds like an interesting foreshadowing concept! tongue.gif

Excellent update as usual Black. Love the dialogue between Sethyas and Nine-Toes particularly. Good advice!

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 24 2006, 05:09 AM

Well, putting Sethyas in a big bonfire might not be so bad....... he is a Dunmer after all, and Dunmer and burning at the stakes........ they don't mix well nono.gif ........,.. laugh.gif

Nice. I imagine that will get the message across.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Nov 24 2006, 05:48 AM

Hehe, nothing better than a little bloodbath.

Neat work done by Sethyas. Very efficient, though kinda an expensive way to do things. tongue.gif

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 24 2006, 06:20 AM

When I played that mission with my character (though my character sucked at level two) I got owned, no surprise there. Nice use of drunkedness, and guile Blacky. Seth truelly is a force to be reckoned with when one uses only pawns and poxxies (i believe that's the term), especially one that drink and are generally weak-minded....... no pun intended.

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 24 2006, 08:48 PM

Well, that's one way to make your point clear. I know that the Cammonna Tong are bad guys, but something always bothers me about this bloodbad mission. It just sounds too, coldblooded.

Yes, that's typically me. I have no problem with self-defence or wiping out a god and a religious system that is the basis of Dunmer culture but when it comes down to starting an attack on unsuspecting people, no matter how evil they are, I suck. smile.gif

Posted by: minque Nov 25 2006, 04:45 PM

woah...two great updates! So much life added to the story, interesting conversations and nice twists. The encounter with Baladasītame daedroth made me smile. Serene also met that one....

And the mission with those "bad people" haha...pure hilarios.....

More please?

Wow, that ending was one of the funniest things I've read on this forum. Great stuff Black!

Now Sethyas is armed with an even more dangerous crossbow? Damn, he's becoming a master of issuing death!

Do I suspect a spurt of Post Machining coming up?

Posted by: canis216 Nov 26 2006, 05:21 AM

Heh, the dwarven crossbow... nicely done. Always-He-Lingers-in-the-Sun would approve, I think.

I like that last part with Therana and the dagger... those wacky Telvanni. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 26 2006, 05:41 AM

I think everyone liked that dagger part. Nice job Black Hand, these Tellvanni are very interesting, indeed.

That woman would probably jump out her window to see Sethyas do that trick again. She's a wacko for sure. wacko.gif

Post machine here...

Wait... Eno calls him an n'wah? Why that... (pulls out crossbow and bolts and mutters...)

Edit: I enjoyed this update... even if Eno is less than grateful that Always-He-Lingers declined to kill him.

Posted by: Lord Revan Nov 26 2006, 06:02 AM

Why did this councilor and her retainers sound similar to the Amazons (mythology, not the rainforest)?
Anyway, great update, that was fast. I wish that people would....... oh, nevermind.

*I watch Seth's progress from the shadows* Takes care to trip over a coat rack..... laugh.gif

Hmmm interesting word choice after talking about the incident between Eno and an Argonian.

"...lingered in the sun..."

Nice work with dealing with Neloth and Dratha. Now his big challenge with Gothren is next. How will he manage with this stubborn fool?

Oh how wonderful to log in and see not one, but THREE updates ! Now that made my day Iīd say...These Telvanni-quests written with such humor and insight...oh my Blackie...you really are a wonderful writer!

viking.gif goodjob.gif cake.gif

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Nov 26 2006, 09:22 PM

Wow, Gothren put up quite a fight. I guess that's expected when he has that damn paralyze spell!

Excellent update Black. Now... which Ashlander Tribe will he visit first? Two of them are quite close to Tel Vos...

Posted by: canis216 Nov 26 2006, 11:00 PM

Ah yes, the Ashlanders... that'll be interesting. I wonder what he'll think about Ashkhan Kaushad... he's quite the character.

Posted by: jack cloudy Nov 27 2006, 10:27 PM

Kaushad? Wasn't that the Ashlander who wanted to raise a family so to speak? Yeah, that guy really scared the crap out of Luper. Heh, I wonder what Sethyas will think of it. He seems to be getting experience with creating families. smile.gif

Posted by: Taillus Nov 27 2006, 11:12 PM

Very well written but in reality, aren't we all a little guardung crazy. *New catch phrase alert!!* I have to say that I was a tad worried about the fight with Gothren but you described it so well I could picture it all happening in the reflection of my computer monitor. Wonderfully done, you represent this forum community well.

And so begins Sethyas' quest to unify the Ashlanders. They're always an interesting bunch to deal with.

I personally wonder how Sethyas with handle the Ald Daedroth shrine.

Posted by: minque Dec 3 2006, 12:50 PM

Wonderful! Seth is going on his Ashlanders-trip, now that one I canīt wait to hear about! My Serene spent quite some time with Ahemmusa, I hope Seth will find them as lovable as she did..

Anyway Iīm sure the forthcoming events will be as wonderfully described as usual......thank you for your incredible story Black Hand! cake.gif goodjob.gif

Posted by: mplantinga Dec 5 2006, 12:48 AM

I'm intrigued by Sethyas' continuing lack of confidence in his abilities, despite all the things that he has accomplished. However, it is good to see him seeking the wisdom of the ashkhan; the seemingly simple Urshilaku seem to know a lot more than one would expect.

Mmm mmm mmm! Tasty update Black!!

It's always interesting to read Sethyas preception on how to handle things. I didn't know what to expect when he got to Ald Daedroth, but I really enjoyed what you did with his decision making.

Can't wait for the next one!

Posted by: Kurt Hawkeye Dec 5 2006, 07:41 AM

Lovely, lovely work. I'd love to see these bound and published someday smile.gif

Posted by: Wraithguard Dec 7 2006, 04:32 AM

LOL maybe the writers should sell a short stoor collection, that'll be interesting, Say sethyas whered you find the five fingers of pain spell.... i cant find it sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

Posted by: jack cloudy Dec 7 2006, 03:13 PM

Sometimes, a heart as warm as the forge of a Dwemer is needed. Sometimes, this heart must become as cold as the windswept wastes of Skyrim.

A good update as always.

Wraithguard, I personally believe that Sethyas is referring to the Five Fingers of Pai spell, although it is likely a somewhat improved version of the original by now. Apparently, the n didn't fit. Not to mention that Pai sounds cool.

Posted by: mplantinga Dec 8 2006, 02:53 AM

A very unorthodox approach to the Ald Daedroth cleansing. I was a little shocked, to tell you the truth, but after some reflection it seems to make some sense. After all, if any of the ordinators had known he was the one who claimed to be Nerevarine, they may well have tried to kill him. Perhaps your bloody solution was better after all.

Posted by: Wraithguard Dec 9 2006, 06:19 AM

.................................................
hmmm i think im just gonna make my own spell like the "ten fingers and toes of your dead and im not spell" or something.................

Excellent my friend! Your interpretation of the Ashlanders is wonderful, the conversations between first Sinnamu Mirpal, then Kaushad was really interesting to read. You put life into them, and I love that..being very fond of the Ashlanders myself.

Oh and I do like Sethyas...he is really one-of-a-kind!

More please??? tongue.gif

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Dec 9 2006, 04:04 PM

That update was great Sethyas! I really loved the description of the "connection" between Sethyas and the Bow of Shadows; very magical. And once again, your dialogue between characters is fantastic!

Keep it up, ya hear?

Posted by: canis216 Dec 9 2006, 06:08 PM

Ashkhan Kaushad... what a character.

Posted by: jack cloudy Dec 10 2006, 08:09 PM

Of all the Ashkans, he is my favourite. You've got to love a guy who sends the world's greatest hero on a quest to find him a Dunmer of the female kind. biggrin.gif

Brilliant. I especially loved the bit with Sethyas passing out and being waked up by a Guar. biggrin.gif

The Erabenimsun was done good as well, showing that Sethyas is an expert at ending vital functions. I thought he would go and snipe through the thin skins of those yurts instead of frontal confrontations but nevermind.

Personally, I found this tribe to be somewhat lacking compared to the others. At least you felt like you did a good thing with the Ahemussa, the Urshilaku tested you fully and were willing to accept you upon proving your heritage and Kaushad was plain hilarious. Here, nothing but slaughter. The symbolic meanings of the artefacts were nice but still, I would have preferred a diplomatic solution rather than fighting.

yup..me too.....it was sheer hilarious....like the rest of those two installments. I have run out of words to praise your story Blackie, but I think you know how I feel about it huh?

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Dec 12 2006, 09:07 PM

Post Machine! Hoo boy!

Excellent stuff as usual Black. Sethyas finalizing the Zaniab Tribe Nerevarine Trial was quite amusing and the following trial was nice and gritty. Love the storytelling!

With this Trial finally finished, it'll be interesting to see whether Sethyas immediately goes to the High Fane or does some other things.

Posted by: Wraithguard Dec 13 2006, 03:47 AM

dang i look at the time you posted this update and i think to myself,"by george this guy is devoted."

Posted by: Lord Revan Dec 14 2006, 04:08 AM

If I could sum up your story in one word I think epic would fit the bill perfectly. Your story has romance, intrique, action, ocassional comedy, and many other elements of a great tale. So......... comtinue please, Black Hand! biggrin.gif

Posted by: mplantinga Dec 17 2006, 02:36 AM

Sethyas has certainly gained much confidence in his combat abilities. Not long ago, he would never have dared to take on two supposedly seasoned warriors in a fair fight. I will look forward to seeing how he deals with the remaining prophecies.

Haha, my hunch proved to be correct. All praise the hunch! tongue.gif

Now, this update was excellent. The way Sethyas handled the problem was good, though he might want to make sure he doesn't always ask the councillors to trust him. He might lose their faith if everything he does goes directly against what they think.

One final nitpick though. Did Sethyas just forget about Ilmeni? First he arrives at Bal Isra, all happy and stuff. Then he is forced to blink away. After finishing his bussiness, he goes to the Urshilaku instead of Bal Isra. Though I do believe that Bal Isra lies on the way there so he might drop by for a moment.

Posted by: mplantinga Dec 17 2006, 08:41 PM

No offense to Serene (or her creator spirit Minque), but somehow I never really thought of Serene as Archmistress material. Perhaps my judgment is clouded by the usual "leadership through might" paradigm that dominates the game and most fanfics. Having said that, I think that in real life Serene would be exactly the right sort of person to lead; she is compassionate and caring, but also firm and capable.

I did enjoy how Sethyas convinced the council to accept Serene as Archmistress. I will look forward to hearing about his return to the Urshilaku.

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Dec 17 2006, 08:51 PM

A Serene cameo! And a good one at that! Their conversation and examination of each other was fantastically done. I feel that Serene would make a capable Archmaster though.

Keep up the great work, Black Hand!

Sethyas obviously doesn't like the temple. I can't blame him though. Still, wielding Sunder or Keening without Wraithguard is a dangerous idea. To get Wraithguard, he needs Vivec. (Though he doesn't know that yet.)

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Dec 17 2006, 11:20 PM

Looks like Sethyas control over his emotions can be broken. Though, I admit, the Temple does have that affect to those claiming to be the Nerevarine. Excellently written display of this emotion all the same.

I wonder if Sethyas will actually pay a visit to Vivec out of his own free will now...

Posted by: minque Dec 17 2006, 11:43 PM

Oh..My...Goodness...these two updates were really special! Your interpretation of my Serene was quite outstanding! The conversation between Seth and her was really good, now letīs hope sheīll be as good as Archmaster as they think!

The second update showed a very intriguing way of getting into Saryoniīs chambers! Great work Blackie! And those poems and the sermon....woah....

Iīm just speechless!

The Mighty Meeting with Vivec! I've been waiting for this! I always liked how a lot of answers are made when speaking with him, yet there's still some that go unanswered. You wrote that aspect perfectly.

I can't wait to see the building up to the conclusion of the main quest!

Posted by: mplantinga Dec 18 2006, 07:31 PM

Thanks for a couple of spectatular installments. The meeting with Vivec was particularly enjoyable. I really liked the intercalation of Nerevar's thoughts and words into Sethyas' conversation with Vivec; it made me feel like he really was Nerevar reborn.
