I dont know about you guys but my favorite food in the world is pretty much a "BURRITO' not because I'm Mexican but because they are so damn delicious...

SO WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?

Posted by: Kiln May 22 2006, 01:52 AM

Meatballs and mashed potatoes...greatest foods ever. Seriously I could survive off those two foods forever...I just ate both earlier.

Thanks alot.
*Kiln goes to kitchen* laugh.gif

Well, I do love Burritos ... the original Burrito Supreme is still way way at the top of my list, as well as my doberman pinscher's ... cause I always would give him the very last "knot" part of my burrito as he salivated himself into a frenzy in the back seat. LOLOL

But lately, my very favorite food is Sherbert - Razberry Blush Sherbert to be precise. Either Publix or Walmarts, but Walmarts containers are bigger. The reason for my sherbert love is that I am at the age when I'm starting to get "hot flashes" and let me tell you - they are really killer.
But a nice trip to the freezer, stick your head in there for awhile, admire the pics of Mel Gibson in the shower scene and David Lee Roth doing high kicks posted behind the frozen vegetables, ahhhh .... sigh.... grab the sherbert and a spoon and it's cool down heaven!!!
(Just kidding about the posters in the freezer but I've considered it since I spend more and more time with my head in there! tee hee)

Also now, my favorite meats are chicken, turkey and london broil. I like croquetted chicken legs, turkey just about anyway and anytime you can serve me London Broil with mash potatoes, gravy and California vegetables, and I won't complain.

OH God, Mazelure - I'm hungry now! Time to visit the freezer. lol biggrin.gif

the testicles of the dung beetle, marinated in a combination of caustic soda and brine, with a side order of gerkins.

If that isn't available, I'll have roast beef, yorkshire pudding, roast parsnips, roast potatoes, peas and carrots. With a dollop of English mustard.

Posted by: Ibis May 22 2006, 07:54 AM

LOLOL .... Pharmasists have such discerning tastes.

How'd it go with your exams, Foster? Or is that not done yet? Hope everything comes out good for you. smile.gif

Hmmmm ... although with your dour sense of humor I'd hate to be the busybody old hypochondriac lady who visits the store daily for her various "illnesses." hehehe Wonder if you could resist that urge you seem to have ... to deflate untruths, I guess you'd call it.

I'd have to say leg of lamb. I made that for myself this Friday. With creamed potatoes and carrots and a red wine sauce... mmm... Getting hungry... tongue.gif

Posted by: Ibis May 22 2006, 08:34 AM

Wow that sounds great Olav - wonder how long it'd take to jet to your house for dinner and back? tee hee Nothing like inviting myself, eh?

Posted by: Olav May 22 2006, 08:45 AM

Well considering my current 'residence' is just about big anough for a chair and desk it wouldn't be very comfortable I can assure you... I also have one of those mini-stoves with two cooking plates and with room for half a pizza in the oven, so everything I make in that is quite tiny... smile.gif Whenever I find legs of lamb small enough to fit in there - which isn't very often - I get it...

I've bought a new appartment though, but it's not finished until around X-mas times... indifferent.gif But there I'll at least get a real kitchen, and a relatively huge terrace where I can throw barbeque parties. So maybe then... biggrin.gif

Posted by: Ibis May 22 2006, 08:49 AM

Ahhh ... a Christmas BBQ, that sounds lovely. I shall look forward to it.

I know exactly what you mean about having a small place and cooking on hot plates ... that was our situation previous to here. We were there so long though, in our little studio that we accumulated a double hot plate, a broiler oven, a microwave and a little George Foreman grill. If you do wind up getting more utilities for cooking, you can always use them later in your larger apartment.

I'll tell you when I get the results back. Thanks for caring, though. And I do...uhm...get into trouble with customers on occasion. I'll give you two real life examples.

Customer> "What do you have to stop body odour?"
Me> "Soap?"

or

Customer> "I believe that faith in God can heal all things."
Me> "Then why are you here to collect a prescription?"

Anyway, this is totally off topic. Lets just say it's a good thing I'm not working in a retail pharmacy. Oh, and the quickest way to win my affections in case any girlies are interested is a really nice Lasagne - with lots of garlic. I'm a touch like Garfield in that respect.

Posted by: Ibis May 23 2006, 08:40 AM

Ooohh, Lasagna ... yes, forgot all about that. And for a good reason which Foster can probably understand being aware of medical things. Cain has to eat a no carb/high protein diet now .... and the poor guy is a total pasta freak.

Only one fourth italian but you'd think he was born there from the way he used to eat lasagna, spagetti, ditalini, tortellini, etc.

Also, I miss from Taco Bell the soft shell tacos. We sometimes used to make them for ourselves and created a "wrap" sort of thing with chichen and a lot of salad type vegetables in it before any of the restaurants started on that. Good eating.

I don't know about the green tea, but a little bit of lemon juice sprayed over the squids goes perfectly smile.gif

Matzoball soup and gefilte fish

I'm such a Jew, but that's the best stuff ever. especially with horseradish, can't beat it..

Posted by: Ibis May 27 2006, 08:02 PM

Yowl, my mom used to eat that horseradish ... that's some spicey stuff!

My newest favorite food is doughnut poppers. We had them last night. They are chocolate coated and come in a little cluster that looks like a daisy & then you pull them apart & eat them. Such fun!

Another old favorite that we are having today for Memorial Day weekend - Nathan's hotdogs with Plochman's mustard on fresh baked Publix hotdog buns & diced Vadalhia sweet onion. Mmmmm .... gotta be those brands.
My hubby Cain is the chef of this delicacy & our kitchenette is very small (too small for 2 people) & he has broken stuff there before. So the whole time he is cooking he periodically shouts "Bull inna chinashop!" (he's a Taurus) ~ it's so funny & I think it may make the food taste even better. tongue.gif

But Green tea is like drinking liquid Leaves. Ech!

For me it has to be kebabs, or chinese, anything with too much fat to be anywhere near healthy for me...

Posted by: Megil Tel-Zeke May 30 2006, 06:57 PM

breakfast foods:
-crepe style pancakes with lingonberries. lemon and sugar also g well with pancakes. Golden syrup is a third choice.

Dinner:
Rice, black beans, ropa vieja(pulled prok/beef), arepas. yummy
sheperds pie for a filling and decent meal that you only have to make once a week and it last for the week.

Desserts:
most anything with chocolate. After Eights are a good lite dessert
Malakoff-Torte
Raspberry sherbert
Rhubarb crumbles

Now eating a delicious Sweet Italian turkey sausage sandwich with melted Provolone cheese & onions on fresh bun. I love it!!

Posted by: FafsaTheElf Jun 20 2006, 07:05 PM

Yum, all of this sounds good besides the squid. I dont eat beef or pork or lamb so my favorate is definatly not any of those. Although im chinese, I am not exactly fond of REAL chinese food (although I like the americanized which tastes nothing like real chinese). I'd have to go with Mashed potatoes (has to be homemade) with lots of gravy, be it turkey or chicken. In short, I love thanksgiving meals

Posted by: Ibis Jun 21 2006, 12:49 AM

Fafsa, interesting that you don't like the REAL Chinese food, I on the other hand love that food. At the Chinese restaurant where I worked, they explained that the food that is served in American Chinese restaurants is really Festival Food in China.
At our restaurant the father who was the cook was vegetarian and the mother and kids were omnivourous as am I ... so for our own meals we always had one shared meat dish and one vegetarian. So many different things it was amazing. And even though I am a total meat hound, I often liked the vegetarian dish even better than the meat one but I especially liked having them togerther.

I love Chinese food. That restaurant used to be a half block from my house. I wish we had an arrangement that good at our new location now. tongue.gif

A fav of mine is "billtong". You guys might know it as beef jerky.
Around here its a delicacy, and can find it quite a varity.

Also a leg of pork skeward with garlic. mmmmm....
Best pork I ever had.

So I just cooked something called Tangy chicken. (I was forced to cook dinner)

It sounded good on the recipe, but when I got it all together, it smelled terrible. Maybe it'll be good in about forty minutes when it comes out of the oven.

Surprisingly, it was delicious. When it was sitting in the pan before going into the oven, the vinegar smell was about to make me gag. But after cooking it, there was no more than a hint of the stuff.

I get an A+ in dinner making. biggrin.gif

haha a burrito...... if i were in sanfransisco right now.... id be eating burritos like crazy.... but since im in hawaii... i suppressed my tastes for it... just cuzthe burritos dont taste good and its way expensive... i could buy a burrito the size to my wrist and down 2 my elbow for like 5 USD and buy he same length burrito in hawaii for like 12 dollars... its crazy... horrible economy in hawaii... dont plan to live there unless u have mad amounts of money....

Posted by: The Metal Mallet Oct 7 2006, 03:58 AM

Ice cream, hands down. Particullary anything with a combination of caramel and chocolate in it, like Rolo icecream for example.

Damn, I want some now. biggrin.gif

If it's not a dessert, I really like pasta in alfredo sauce with chicken, or a really nice, BBQ burger, with beer and chipotle BBQ sauce.

Posted by: Ibis Oct 7 2006, 09:50 PM

Well now that the Mallet has mentioned deserts, I want my new favorite = rainbow sherbet. It is orange, rasberry and lime flavored in beautiful swirls.

I was able to get quite alot of it previously because it "cured" my hot flashes. But Cain realized how much sherbet we were eating and has decreed that we can only eat it once a month now. Ratzzz!!
