"Yes sir," Ed said sternly and saluted. He did this with a smile on his face and proceeded to leave the room. He walked to the kitchen and three two burritos into the oven. A few seconds later they were done, Ed put them on seperate plates, and then took one back to the storage room.

"Here Lily I brought you some food. We're entering the first gate as we speak so you won't ahve to sit in this uncomfortable room much longer."

"Good. By the time I eat this, we should be through, right?" she asked just before taking a huge bite.

Infirmary Administrator

The admin opened Arthur's pockets on the clothing they had confiscated as the man rested, in a deep sleep.

"Lets see . . .pocket knife, flashlight, ah . . .what might this be?"

Opening a small piece of paper, the man read what was written inside it.

To The Commander of the Earth Branch,

Reader has been assigned to several assault tasks, including the research stations positioned within striking distance of Earth. You have permission to call up one-hundred and twenty able bodied men and women from the reserve to aid you in this assault.

The purpose of this assault is to undermine research that may be leading to advances in weaponry of the HDF.

You are to carry out orders immediately. If you fail, and are suspected yet alive, a backup squadron will be sent as fast as can be managed to open the assault on Target 1 again.

Target 1 is reasearch station 413, contact headquarters for further tasks.

Standing up, the Infirmary administartor immediately made his way to Satyana,

"Miss, perhaps you should read this." he said as he shook her awake.

Satyana RS413

Satyana woke up staring at the administrator with dizzy eyes..

"What is this? where did that come from?"

She took the note and started reading it....then gasped for breath ..this ....this was..just horrifying....

"SYKE!!! where are you, come on read this!!" She yelled with a voice filled with anger and fear....

Ed sat down on the floor next to Lily.

"Yeah hopefully. It's a rather large distance to cover, before we reach the gate intersection. The good news is you can't exactly turn a ship around while inside a gate."

Syke, RS413

"What?" he asked, coming into the room after hearing his sister shout out to him.

Lily, Ship

"Exactly." she said, taking another bite. "So where are we going, anyway?"

Ed-Ship

"We have to go pick his sister and brother up at their research station. The scumbag from Jupiter threatened to harm them if Rann didn't give him a name."

Lily, Ship

She stopped eating in mid-bite. "Whose name? Grannny's? What scumbag?"

Ed-Ship

Ed didn't realize he had said too much, but Lily would find out anyways and it was better this way. After a short pause during which he cleaned his glasses,

"yes they wanted your grandmother's name."

"I don't know hte whole story, but apparently Rann got caught getting whatever he was getting. they took one of his eyes as a reason for him to come back with the information, and then they threatened that if he didn't have the name to them within a week those recorded in the eye's memory would be harmed."

"What?" he asked, coming into the room after hearing his sister shout out to him.

Lily, Ship

"Exactly." she said, taking another bite. "So where are we going, anyway?"

Satyana, RS413

"Read this Sykie,......it´s a plan to...to ..to wipe us out...or ??" She covered her face in her hands......this frightened her really!

"Is it from that Arthur guy?" he asked.

Lily, Ship

"That's horrible! Why would anyone do that?" she asked, just as the ship lurched forward slightly.

"We must be through the gate."

Rann, Ship

Rann stood up, forgetting something important; he needed weapons. He made his way to the storage rom for a few tools, and found Lily and Ed sitting on the floor, eating burritos.

"Why are you here?"

This wasn't good; now he had to worry about four people.

Ed was about to answer when Rann walked in. He glanced up at Rann,

"eh... I think I'll go check the Navigation system," He said getting up hastily, and walking past Rann out of the storage room.

Rann, Ship

"Oh, no." he said, grabbing Ed's shoulder and turning him back around. "You had something to do with this."

Lily, Ship

"No he didn't!" she lied forcefully. "I just hid in that crate there."

Rann, Ship

"It doesn't matter. Now I have to plan on having Irma, the HDF and a crimelord after me. Thanks." he said sarcastically, throwing his hands in the air and walking out of the room.

He couldn't turn around; he didn't have the time. Lily would just have to tag along.

Squadron 14, Outside RS413

"Eclipse 07, have you sighted the station?"

" . . . . ."

"Eclipse 07, have you sighted the station?"

"Yes."

"Eclipse 08, have you sighted the station?"

"Yes."

"Eclipse Squadron, you may engage the target."

"Finally . . . "

"Eclipse 07, I didn't catch that."

"Nothin'"

The pilot of E-07 fixed his sights, and reaching his hand down to place it on the trigger, he punched in the number code, unlocking it.

Then he fired.

Ed stared at the ground like a small child being scolded until Rann left.

"He took it better than expected. I'll go talk to him." as he turned to follow rann, he caught up to the boy.

"Rann, listen, she was bored in that house. all alone with just her grandmother. You can't force her to go back. She's not a little girl and I think her grandmother knows that. I thought Irma would follow us, but thinking about it Irma has to realize she can't lock her grandaughter up forever."

He walked besides Rann,

"Besides she's great company to have around,"

OOC: it is entirely understood if Rann goes violent %!). for some reason I can jsut picture him punching ed in the jaw for this.

"Would you shut the hell up? She might damn well be good company but I'd rather not have her dying in my ship! Why do you think I didn't give the crimelord their names? I don't want anyone dying! Least of all her or my family. With me is quite possibly the most dangerous place she could be! And you obviously had something to do with this, and I even told you what was going on! Don't you understand? We're all about to be hamster cave dead."

"No Rann I don't think you're getting the picture. Those crimelords have your eye Rann. Your freaking eye. You ahve recorded memories on them. and as a standard it runs a short term memory cache. Those crimelords know about Lily and they know about Irma. They also know where Irma and Lily are from your eye's memory banks. When the time runs out, Those crimelords are going to go after the nearest targets. Irma and Lily would be that target. Don't you see Rann. If Lily wasn't with us she would be dead. "

"That eye isn't the normal bio-whatever-the-hell eye. I made it so that it records when I want it to, not constantly, like normal ones. I record things when I want something to look back on. I've never recorded Irma, and Lily maybe once or twice, but never in Irma's home. If you hadn't helped her here, she would be fine."

"Now I have to think out what I'm going to do once Satyana and Syke are here." he said, storming off in the direction of the work room.

He started working on a few things that would upgrade his pistol once he got another one to modify. He formed the barrels again, the ones that would fire rithum, hoping that he would find something to attach them to soon.

He barely registered the next few times they went through a gate.

Syke, RS413

"What the hell was that?" he asked as the station rumbled under the stress of a bombardment.

"Satyana, we have to leave." he said, loading his gun. "I htink they've come sooner than expected. Oh, and get our little hospitalized friend; he might become a good bargaining tool."

Ed realized the msitake h had made then in that assumption. he followed Rann only to have a door slammed in his face. he was about to knock but though it better not to. Ed sighed. He turned and could see Lily looking through th door of the storage room. Ed turned away from her and walked back to the cockpit where he slumped down in the chair.

Lily sat there for a few minutes after overhearing the conversation between the two males on the ship.

After awhile, she stood up and sat beside Ed in the cockpit, and after a long silence, she pointed to the station ahead and asked. "What's going on there?"

Ed ignored Lily's presence, but apathetically looked out the window anyways. It looked like it was under attack, Ed shrugged.

"who knows, probably out of funds and being destroyed." he said before staring blankly at the computer screen, where he then saw RS-413 show up on the radar. He didn't link the two for several seconds then it dawned on him what was going on. Ed lookde at Lily,

"this isn't good." he turned the intercom on.

"Rann....we umm have a situation."
