"I used to live in New Vivec, but I came here to avoid the coming war among the Houses." he lied, purposefully avoiding giving a name. "And this child is the daughter of..."

He struggled to think of a famous couple that consisted of a redguard and an imperial, but it was too difficult. The only one that came to mind was Jonacin and Serene, and he sure as hell didn't want to tell the truth....

"A friend of mine died and left his daughter to me to care for." he explained. "And this," he said, putting a hand on Miles' shoulder, "Is the girl's half-brother."

At least that lie worked, since Leni was half Imperial, and Miles was full.

He immediately thought of the possiblilty that the Captain would rat him out, but it was soon a moot point as the ship began to leave. Apparently, the captain lied about wanting to meet Reavers as well as he did about taking them to Cyrodiil.

Dalave->Dagon Fel

"yeah, sure." Dalave could tell when people were lying, but desided to let it lay, "And I heard about the war, we've gotten a hand full of refugies, don't know why they'd come up here. Like Brett here, he came from what, Suran? He said something about over flow when he got here."

The man in question shook him head, he knew better then to dissagree with Dalave.

" At least your Dunmer, that counts for something in my book" Dalave smiled.

"I happen to like being dunmer." he replied, flashing a smile.

"So what do you call yourselves? Who are you allied with?" he asked, hoping to get a feel for his familiar yet very strange place.

"As do I. We? We are the Brood, and allied? Ha, We work alone."

"The Brood, huh?" he said, scratching his head. "And I take it you're the leader, Dalave?"

Dalave->dagon Fel

"No, I'm just the spokes woman and the boss's gal." Dalave took a quick scan, and saw her right hand man, "The boss is that big brute over there. The one sitting on the wall."

hmm, wonder how long it'll be till he catches on.

Dalave turned to walk over and motioned to Sel, "You coming?"

Sel nodded and handed Leni over to Miles. He didn't want her to be involved if anything got ugly.

"So does this brute have a name?" he asked as he caught up with Dalave.

Dalave->Dagon Fel

"Yeah, he's Athal." Dalave and Sel approched Atahl, "Hey boss this is who was on the ship."

Athal jumped down and eyed Sel over, knowing when Dalave called him boss to go with it, "So whats your name?" Athal aasked in a scruff voice.

Sel held out his hand. "Selenil." he replied with a disarming smile, almost hoping that this Athal would't believe him. "And yours?" he asked, even though he already knew the man's name.

He suddenly regretted giving his real name. It could get him in unwanted trouble, and bring unwanted attention. After all, only a select few knew who the empty pedestal in New Vivec belonged to, and almost anyone could claim the name. Sel suspected that many already had. It was a bad side-effect of having a blank statue that Sel hadn't thought of until this moment.

Dalave and Athal->Dagon Fel...still

Dalave looked at Sel witheds a raised brow and Athal looked at his hand. Just as Sel was starting to retract it Athal granbbed it and shoock it, "Har har har, Good one, what ever though, that Sel's a bastarde though, he helped that Imerial witch, Serene or somethin?" Athal smiled a broken smile.

(ooc: I couldn't resist.. it all just popped into my head.. oh and ps thats just Athal's prospect.. Serene is awsome)

Sel smiled and gave Athal's hand a hearty shake. his name had another effect that he hadn't forseen; it put an air of mystery around him, as if he was hiding his true identity, when he really wasn't.

"Oh, yes, I'd forgotten all about Serene." he said in joking terms to continue the masquerade. He thought all this was extremely ironic, hiding behind his own identity.

Athal and Dalave->Same place

"So, what are you doin here?"

"he's fl-"

"Let the man speak will ya!?" Athal raised a hand and Dalave recoiled. Athal motioned to Sel to follow and headed off away fromt he rest of the group.

Dalave turned away and smiled. She waited untill she was out of range and muttered, "Well that was easy enough."

Sel was disgusted at the fact that this man would actually hit a woman, but he kept it to himself; he was outnumbered here.

"I was visiting New Vivec, admiring my statue," he said with a wink. "When the place became a battleground. I didn't really want to get involved in that stuff. I prefer smaller fights, know what I mean? Anyway, I got passage here with my friend's daughter and son--well, I guess they're mine now--and here we are." he answered, leaving out quite a few details, and putting his own twist on things yet again.

"So is there a place here for us to stay here on your island?"

Athal listened to Sel and thought about it for a second. "Well, not really. We have the ruined Hotel and a few worn down houses. So how long are you gonna stay here anyways?"

"In all honesty, I don't know." he replied. "It may be awhile. Unless...I don't have to join your band to stay do i?"

Athal

"i'd be a bonus if anythign else. Uh you could gain some respect or protection or something, becasue i'm not sure if you noticed but you got some dirty glares back there." He said stickin his thumb back at the group.

Damn, how long can I keep this up, I can't throw out memberships

Athal gave a shrug and sat down on a stump.

"I don't mean to be disrespectful," Sel began. "But I don't need any damned protection."

"Out of curiosity, though, what must be done before someone becomes a member of the Brood?"

"Suit yourself, but if a few guys get together you wont be havin to good of a time. Usually you would have to go through a few tests and I'd have to chat with a few people."

Sel narrowed his eyes. "If you're the leader, why do you need to chat with anyone? And unless my ears decieve me, Dalave said that this was her town and she made the rules. Unless she's your wife, I'd say that there is some sort of deception happening here."

Sel grinned. "But deception is okay I guess. My name is Selenil, after all."

"Crud, and your good." Athal scowled at Sel, "So your really that Bastarde Sel? Well if I get it your gonna get it aswell. And no she ain't my life, and if any of this goes father then me and you then i'll skin you."
