Quick question. Can you get mods on the 360. How will that work? What about expansions?

Urgh.... there will be downloadable mods via xbox live for 360 users. That is all that is known, it is up to Bethesda to actually create the mods after the game is released. As for expansions, nothing has been said and you have to wait until the game itself comes out anyway, I don't see the point in asking for expansions for a game that hasn't even been released yet. That is all the information Beth has given, unless I missed something through dozens of boring old interviews.

Edit: Ah yes, I forgot to say how it will work. Very simple. Bethesda designs some nice mods and using your xbox live internet connection, it allows you to download them onto your 360 and use them. They will probably automatically go into the game, unless Beth has a selector on which mods you'd like to use. I haven't heard whether the mods will be free or charge, but either way it is worth it if you can only use the 360 version.

You'll buy them from the xbox life market place with credit points. I think you need a HD because you have to download the mods.

I'm not sure about expansions but it might just happen although not everybody has xbox life so I don't think they'll cut out on the shelf release.

This topic should be in the Oblivion section, by the way. I hate it when n00bs post in the wrong place nono.gif

And I dislike Elitism posts. nono.gif But you don't see me mentioning that do you?

The "point" in asking about the expansions, is for platform selection. It's pretty safe to assume there will be expansions. Which were cheap and easy to use on in Morrowind PC. Will the 360 version of oblivion be as expandable\mod-able as the PC version? Will you be able to get user made mods on the 360? Or will that be a luxury exclusive to the PC?

User created mods are PC exclusive, and this was posted in the wrong forum. It belongs in the Oblivion section.

Yeah, you buy/achieve credits to trade for Mods. I have a 360 at the moment, so I know how the marketplace works. There are a lot of fee downloads, Demos, etc. but Bethesda are charging for Mods so they can be a higher quality and so their projects are supported (financially). Not sure if you have to pay for Third-Party mods but some people will charge anyway, I guess.

I know there is a way to connect your 360 to a PC and download the updates for the Xbox playlist, so you might be able to do that with the mods.

Edit: It is also impossable to download fan made mods on the 360. So don't even bother trying.

My guess is that Bethesda will have a different file format for 360 mods just to discourage people from looking for a way to download player mods. The reason I say this is Third party mods might come dirty or contain malicious code. So even if a way was found to get files from the web to the 360, I doubt Bethesda or Microsoft want to have to deal with that type of problem/publicity.

Disclaimer: This is complete and total speculation on my part based on no information whatsoever

Yeah, good points. I guess no player Mods for 360... meaning no beards? The devs must've had a good reason not to include it in the Gold version so I doubt they'll mod it in later, just for the heck of it.
I'd pay for official, working Mods... but, yeah, Third-Party mods could severely mess up your game.
