No, you killed him! *sob* Now there's no chance to torture him! sad.gif
*wipes tears*

But that was hilarious. Just imagining how Fargoth jumps in excitement and grabs that scroll makes me laugh. laugh.gif

Kiln, I think it's some sort of tradition. He is the guy who is constantly shaken down by the populace. (The weekly let's-shake-down-Fargoth-ritual!) smile.gif So it almost seems like he's asking for it. And he is a little guy, that usually helps when you need to get the courage to smack him in the face.

I think its mainly because hes the first woodelf you find and his annoying voice and shortness is the first you see and gives you an impression on the race. If you think about it, all the male woodelves sound like him but no-one goes around willy nilly killing them all. smile.gif

This gigantic bug was absolutely the craziest thing I’d ever seen since coming to Morrowind! Huge long multi jointed legs attached to a monstrous carriage shaped body. Plus the caravanner pulling and tweaking its exposed nerves every no and again was quite nauseating.

Despite the sheer weirdness, it was quite enjoyable, hanging off the side watching the scenery of Morrowind glide past to a gentle loping rhythm.
"Are all the siltstriders like this?" I asked the caravaner who’s name I hadn’t caught.
"Mostly, but at the moment in this fine weather my strider is quite calm, so watch out for sand storms in the path to Aldruhn. It gets em might fine jumpy!"
"Thanks er for the warning." I replied mentally noting never to take a ride on one of these big fleas to Aldruhn. Even if there was only an off chance it might storm, the thought of being tossed around in a twenty foot high creature in the middle of a desert storm was in the slightest something I'd order for Fargoth.

After a comfortable journey some three hours long I was in my destination. Balmora. Walking down the steps into town an Argonian loped past me hissing something, but that was when the smells, sounds and sights truly penetrated my sleepy brain. It was a sharp contrast to Seyda Neen.

Spices burned in braziers along posts and houses, food and drink wafter out of windows and teased my shrivelled stomach, dogs yapped and played with laughing children while the ever ready chattering yelling of merchants yelling their wares or haggling with difficult customers.

It all enveloped me and gave me one clear strong point of opinion... a city full of marks! The houses below me spanning the far side of the central canal bubbling through town were shabby and ill collected. Not much there.

But above me to the north lay fine villas and they, were appealing in their polished grey-brown sandstone and gleaming green-glass windows... it showed wealth.

The wealthy side of town was perfect and I longed for a chance to poke around one of hose fine manors. I was seriously sidetracked from my favourite hobby in Seyda Neen but I didn’t want to allow that to happen in this fine town.

Walking through Balmora I found myself passing the mages guild and fighter’s guild, they didn’t appeal much, as I was neither. Now the thieves’ guild, there I could find some familiars, and so I asked the next person I saw, a sardonic female Nord strutting around the place daring people to not ignore her with her fur armour and huge axe slung about the waist.

"Excuse m-"
"Spit it out or hit the road!" She roared and stared expectantly at me. I tried again.
"Just wanting to know where I might find the thieves guild, they have something of mine." She just threw back her head and laughed.
"You wont get nuthin back bu' yer can try the South wall corner club, they usually hang out there." I barely got to thank her before she turned around and walked away.

"Crazy Nords." I muttered, albeit quietly.
Setting stride, I began walking to the slums as the only place a thieves guild would be in was a fairly inconspicuous, poor dirty place.
It was quite easy to mark by the drunken man being literally tossed out the door by a clean looking man. He stood out like a sore thumb.

Entering the place I casually walked past the stares of another waist-height bosmer and another female nord. The town must be filled with my least favourite assortment of people just to spite me I guess.

"Would tall pointy-chin fellow like to join Habasi's guild?" Came a practically purred acknowledgement from the khajiit by the stairs.
"Why as a matter of fact yes I would, don’t bother me with the rubbish about honor among thieves, I know it." I replied
"Good Habasi can tell you have skill, welcome to the guild Toad Elessar."

I didn’t bother asking how she knew my name, and I decided also that I didn’t really want to know.
"Any jobs for me Habasi?" I asked hoping for a cat burglars sort of job.
"Habasi's friend wants a diamond, Habasi hear Nalcarya of White Haven has diamonds." She tipped me a sly wink.
"Say no more my furry friend" I said, grinning. Perfect. And I could tell Habasi was warming to me when I gave her the moonsugar I pilfered from a passing old man on my walk here.

~~~
Two doors, which to pick? The top one was most likely the unguarded one so I went for it, climbing the stairs in the nighttimes chill.
A fairly simple lock mechanism, enough to keep out most but not me. After two minutes the door eased open and I slipped into the semi-darkness, I was in her bedroom atop the store, and light came from down stairs. Most likely Nalcarya putting away stock and cleaning up. It gave me time.
I checked the two chests under her shelf and found about ten septims, they were but an appetiser. For on the shelf above her bed was a small sone chest. A locked chest that screamed 'I have valuables'.
Probing the lock I found its mechanism was more than twice as strong as the doors. A minutes work and I heard footsteps coming up the stairs.
"Crap" I muttered sinking in next to the foot of the bed and the edge of the shelf in perfect darkness.
A roughly female figure I recognised came in and deposited a sack on her table and then walked back down the stairs. Voices cam from down there and I assumed she was farewelling her guard.
Slipping out from my hiding-place I checked the sack, and found scraps and pieces of used magical ingredients... worthless. I turned back to the chest and went at super speed to unlock it. Nalcarya would be coming back soon for bed.
Click the lock burst open and I scooped out to my delight, three huge diamonds.
Ohh yeah!
A nice and realistic burglar scene. (Hey, I don't have any real life experience with that, I swear! smile.gif )
Is that old passing man who I think it is?
Anyway, please update soon.
Nice update Elidor, I really liked this update because of the character's personality and the scene with the diamonds was realistically executed and exciting so do us a favor and keep it up.
I don't often play thieves, so it is amusing to see Morrowind as a place full of "marks." Elessar certainly takes great joy in robbing people blind; I hope that doesn't catch up with him too quickly. I'm sure he'll have a long and illustrious career in the guild.
Loving it! And I hope Elessar keeps the other two diamonds as a pat on the back for a job well done. Speaking of which, congrats to you on a job well done!
Here we go folks another update. smile.gif
Heart pounding as I lay there I knew I wouldn’t sleep for a while yet, despite the comfortable and warm bed at the south wall, prepared by Habasi herself.
Grinning, I thought of the overexcited kitty bounding around when I gave her the diamond and yelling "Habasi knows friend will not expect such a fine specimen, and Habasi will give you this very useful potion Habasi swears by!" In her furry Khajitti voice.
Speaking of the diamonds, the two great lumps lay securely at my waist belt along with the potion that however I had forgotten to leave somewhere else. Also I sat up and looked at the nice short sword that was strapped there alongside. I could have sworn I heard it clink...
The whistling of metal through the air reverberated with a deadly hum as another blade came flying toward me and sank deeply into my pillow, inches from my jugular. Bounding out of bed my would-be assassin was hardly visible due to his deep black armour.
A dark brotherhood never missed and this proved he wasn’t all too good so I took some heart. The fellow slunk in a circle around me waiting for a chance to get past the short sword at the ready in both my hands.
Then inspiration hit me and caused me to take one hand to the potion at my belt, freeing it deftly I chugged in lightning speed, dodging a lung from the black coated foe, who double took and I was forced to bring up my blade to meet his and in the instant this happed my form blinked out like a light.
Pulling my blade away, I stepped back and the assassin reeled, spinning around and scanning the apparently empty room.
"S'wit!"
"What was that?" I said softly, pulling free my sword from his heart and viciously swinging down a slash to his jugular, partly severing his neck.
Calming myself down I knelt by his figure and pulled away his mask. A Dunmer. Definitely dark brother hood, but who would want to kill me? And why would they send such an incompetent assassin? Retrieving his dagger, I was further in doubt of this Dunmer, a simple silver dagger??
As I knelt down the door opens softly and quietly, but not too silently for my elven ears. I deftly turned both short sword and dagger backwards and swung with a fury at whoever the opponent now was. But in a split second I found myself hanging on the wall, both blades stuck hard into the wall and a soft purr at by back where Habasi teased me with a short tanto.
"Elfsy wants to kill Habasi now? Habasi knows no why. Maybe he believes Habasi to be another assassin?" She giggled in purring way and sheathed the tanto and I pulled my blades from the wall, sheathing them wistfully.
"how did you do that?" I said looking her over.
"Habasi is quick on her toes, wet ear" She replied, looking over the dead assassin.
Remembering my new rank, I took no offence.
Next morning Cassius cleaned up and I took the armour, cleaned at best and shortly arrived at the Armourers shop, hauling it inside and addressing a Bosmer of all smithies.
"Could you fix this helm and cuirass, and also give me a price quote on the whole suit?" I didn’t wait for an answer before leaving, I was really hungry. At the Eight Plates I secured myself a plate of spiced hound meat and settled. The night was a tough one but I had come out again, a whole suit of fine armour and with more experience and two diamonds to boot.
A voice suddenly presented itself to me, belonging to another Altmer, female behind me.
"Would you buy me a drink my fine Mer, I have a secret one like you would enjoy knowing."
Turning around, I was nearly speechless. The Lady in front of me fairly glowed with a golden light, her perfect figure was a tad shorter than me and garbed in fine silk. I could barely take my eyes off her as I stuttered my approval.
"Thankyou" She replied, sitting next to me and waiting.
I finally pulled myself together and called the maid over for a nice bottle of Flin, I found myself hoping she'd be impressed. Inwardly I scowled, she had me wrapped around her already.
"You are very generous..."
"Elessar" I said a little too quickly.
"Elessar, yes and would you like to hear this news I have for one such as you?" She said.
"Of-of course, please go ahead!" I said again tripping on my words.
~~~

Ick, quite short but its all I can fit in atm. Hope you likey.

Women, be carefull around them, Elessar! You should also be carefull around the men, but be especially carefull around this one. Make sure she doesn't put anything in your glass.

Umm, I think I got a bit carried away. Go on, please bring an update soon.

Excellent descriptions, along with an even pace as you build the character's personality. I enjoyed the Fargoth scene and the interaction with Habasi. You really breath life into the characters.

It was good to see Elessar triumph over the assassin, then be so easily put in his place by Habasi. I'm looking forward to seeing if Elessar can get Habasi to teach him a few tricks.

Great update. Please, may we have some more?

This update contains some spoilers on the mod "Silgrad Tower" and if you are planning to play this mod I suggest you read cautiously after the point the pirate ship "Maria Daria" is mentioned. Be warned.

~~~
A cup and a half of flin was acting on my mind and reflexes as I listened to the entrancing woman in front of me. She was bantering a little, plainly obvious I was enthralled with her, and quite subtly testing my defences.
Thinking back I am not really sure how I knew that fact, how I knew she was sizing up my responses; speaking quickly, stammering words, shying away from subjects. I was inwardly aggravated at my weakness. History had a way of repeating itself like nothing else.
However skilful the way she probed and tested, somehow a voice told me in an echoing sort of way that she had an agenda and it probably included me.
Gradually we returned to the subject of her little secret and I decided to find if anything could point towards its nature. I asked quite innocently if it included adventure or some such thing, watching her recoil slightly and seem a little annoyed at losing ground. Point to Elessar.
"Why adventurous is a word I could use to describe this information I have." She said, an edge of teasing in her voice.
It seemed a little strange even to my slightly dulled senses that she would keep the secret that had initially started the conversation, not that my infatuated state of mind cared for a second.
My eyes were lingering more and more on her as she spoke and I noticed a few seconds after her this possible sign of weakness. Hundredth point to ... I suddenly realised I didn’t even know her name.
"It seems,” I said watching, gauging her reaction for clues." You haven’t even given me your name." Without flinching she replied.
"Arien ... Telemnar"
Such a beautiful name, that I came to realise seemed to fit to her. It was no fake.
"Please I have agonised long enough, tell me this secret!" I pleaded; the drink was making me bolder and more confident.
Once again she hesitated to think of the correct words.
"It is more like a proposition, something that can work to both our gain." Came the reply.
"I have found that there--" Cautiously she looked around then visibly decided on something that seemed to have some sort of effect on her. She became more open at once and began working on the side of my mind that was entwined about her.
"Let us get a room, there we can talk in private." She said slyly, glancing about again then grinning at me.
Together, we walked to the bar and I bought a room for the night. This announcement to the 'tender seemed to be very funny to two dark elves who laughed raucously and gave hugely exaggerated winks in our direction. I fidgeted but Arien simply gave a floaty laugh that tinkled like wind chimes, I was rapt with her and I knew there was no way I could refuse her anything. A dangerous position and one that gave me unpleasant thoughts of times gone by.
Down in the warm room, we continued the conversation sitting side by side on the single bed. This I also noted and wondered if she would stay the night here, it certainly was a narrow bed now I think about it.
"As I said I have found out some valuable information." She said. "The pirate ship, Maria Daria, will be making an appearance." She stopped short.
I vaguely remembered hearing of the infamous smuggling ship that transported people to the mainland.
"And?" I said trying to appear knowledgeable of the subject, once again I shamefully note, hoping to impress her.
"They are set to attack Gnaar-Mok, and with them we could go to the mainland!" She said gaining enthusiasm toward the end of the sentence. I paused and thought furiously about what she said; blurrily noting she had just subtly moved to within a mere inch of my side.
We? That was something I noticed first as well as the idea of going to the mainland, which also bothered me if I was correct in thinking the Maria Daria was the travel method. Not because of morals mind you.
"We?" That was the question I decided to ask first, it intrigued me.
"Yes, I can tell you are not one to shy away from the shadier line of the law" Another compliment I didn’t note. "And we can clearly help each other out! Imagine the wealth held by people in the mainland! I will not boast but I am quite skilled in what I need to be." I didn’t doubt that.
The thought had a truly profound effect on me, it made my inflate with something of excitement thinking of the thrill of a burglary and being able to share it with this quite able looking elf.
"I will not say at the moment, but I need some time to persuade myself." I decided not to lock myself into anything. Unerringly this seemed to be the cue she was looking for and she quite unsubtly indicated what she desired now, the notion pushed through the cloudy fog of drink and my mind roared approval.
~~~

Tell me what you think, my storys going into a hopefully interesting twist. I wont give anything away now though.
