ok, first thing is hugea** is better than what you wrote as the moderators try to keep profanity out of the forums. Umm as to how to write a fan fiction, read the rules that alexander pinned at the top of the thread grouping, also minque mentions in her pinned topic about editing that is available to writers. The main thing is that you want to write in the world of nirn/tamriel. I hope that you will make a very interesting story for us to praise. Just start writing and post it in a new thread and see if people will look at it, that is what I did, but then I don't have dire need for an editor. Looking forward to a new thing to look through.

P.s. I would take a look through some other people's work at-a-glance to make sure it isn't more of the same, I wish I had done more reading before writing myself. well off I go to post an update to my own fanfic.
*POOF*(smoke fills the room causing you to cough) emot-ninja1.gif and I disappear from sight.

First, you need to have some ideas in mind- who is the character (or characters)? What do you want to happen? If you are writing a fan-fic, the setting is already provided, but you can pick and chose the parts of that setting that will be useful to your story.

So, those are your elements- character, plot, setting.

For the character, ask yourself some questions: What is he/she doing here? Does this individual have any particular traits that make life easier/harder (bad temper, prejudice, wit, charm, etc. How aware of events is the character? Is s/he cluelessly stumbling from one misadventure to another, driven by circumstances? Or does the character have a purpose, one that drives him forward against all obstacles?

What point-of-view do you want to write in First person narrative-

"I had not intended to kill the annoying little Bosmer, but his constant chatter left me no choice."

Third person narrative- "Psmith had made up his mind. If the stupid elf didn't shut up in the next five seconds, there was going to be blood upon the floor. And it wasn't going to be Psmith's."

Do you want to be humorous, dark, darkly humorous?

The main thing to do is to pick an event, preferably a startling or exciting event, and throw your reader into the action. Write in a style that you like to read. Think about your favorite stories and about what makes them enjoyable. Most of all, write down EVERYTHING, right when you think of it. Then, before you post, makes sure what you have makes sense, moves the story along, and leaves the reader wanting to know 'What happened next?'

You should listen to Treydog. In my opinion, "The story of Trey" is the greatest fan fiction out there. It shows the story of Morrowind better than any other story. And it isn't quite that long. It's shorter than the story of Gaenor in my opinion. I just got bored when i started reading that. Not the case with the stroy of Trey. And try chosing a subject that you like alot, for example a Dunmer Great House. I like to write about house Indoril in my spare time. Or you could write about your favourite region in Morrowind. Things like that should get you started.

I seem to be the only one who picked a completely different topic who's only relation to MW and such is that it's based in Tamriel. Wierd

You also should use spell check and check your grammer and the usage of words. If all of your sentences in the story are like the wrong "Write" in your topic then people will be discouraged (right word?) to read your story. Well good luck and I hope to see something new eventually.

Minkey and "Griffie" said it all....

But most important...LISTED TO TREYDOG, HE IS THE BEST AND I DO NOT BELIEVE ANYONE HERE CAN BEAT HIM, THATS ONLY MY OPINION THOUGH.... ( please you other writers, please dont get offended beacuse I said Trey is the best...it's just the way it is.)

Something else, is to read the other FanFics to...you might find inspiration ( but please dont copy their work ) or advice...

Good luck about writing you fic...I'll be waiting4it laugh.gif

well, I am still trying to get to treydog's multi-mile long story, but I know that minque shouldn't sell herself short here, she is a good writer, and she was my main inspiration for starting a fanfic. If she says treydog is that good, I definitly believe her wholeheartedly.

Also I haven't went and gotten openoffice yet so I don't have spell or grammar check.

also minky says their are peeps out there willing to edit and reveiw your work pre-release, so if your grammar and spelling are bad then maybe you could do that...I just look over my stuff as I go personally, and it prolly shows, as does my writing disability...speaking of I think I am going to go write up some new content on my fanfic.

gl good sir.

Not that I should be one to listened to more then others (I am just a newb myself even though I pump out posts like I get paid to) but I think one of the most important things to concern yourself with is to have a good solid plot. Don't stray too far off course or else you will find yourself trailing off into randomness. That and give your character personality. Nothing sets your story apart from the others then having a character with a very unique personality.

*Insert drum roll here* and the single most important part of all! The biggest piece of advice you can have..... HAVE TONS OF FUN DOING IT! If you're not enjoying your story then how can anyone else! biggrin.gif
