Welcome everyone, to the Oblivion contest.

We got together with a couple of other Elder Scrolls websites - Elderscrolls.NET, Oblivion Source, Planet Elder Scrolls, TESSource and the Imperial Library - and decided to run a contest; Mostly to shorten the waiting time, but also because we think it'll be a lot of fun. The contest is about dressing up like someone from Tamriel: a person, a creature a monster - whatever you want. To spice things up, Bethesda and ourselves are donating some very cool prizes for the three best entries. So be sure to check it out, participate, and most of all: have fun!

Borrowing a bit from Stargelman here:

What is it about?

Simple: dress up as a citizen or monster of Tamriel and take a photo of it! The choice of motive is entirely yours, as long as it fits into the general Elder Scrolls theme.

How does it work?

A panel of seven judges from the Elder Scrolls scene will pick the best entries which will win our great prizes, most of which have been graciously donated by Bethesda Softworks! Check out the prizes here. The only condition to enter the contest is that you send a "normal" picture of yourself without disguise so we can be sure it's really you. This picture will not be published. Additionally, if you wish to protect your privacy, you can choose to have your picture published without name.
A link to the Prizes:
Prizes

What happens to my pictures?

Your entry picture will be published on the official contest forum. Updates will be made every 1-2 days. Your verification photo without costume will be kept confidential.

Who can enter?

Really anyone! Except the judges and staff of the participating fan sites, of course. That is, they can enter, but they cannot win smile.gif

But ... I'm shy!

Despair not. If you so wish, you can choose for your entry to be anonymous. This means your entry picture will be shown, but only with an entry number, not with your name alongside it. Please note: Your private (verification) photo will never be shown, no matter if you select the anonymous option or not. Only the judges will see it, and it will be deleted after the contest has finished.

Ok, I'm ready! Where do I sign up?

Easy! Just click Here and upload your pictures!

*******

Now I assume that answers most of your questions, you can find a simple statement of the rules of the contest here:
Rules

Should you have any other questions, feel free to ask them in this thread.

that didn't really make sense.

but I do see why not seeing their faces would make it hard to determine if it is real.

What are you talking about? That picture is sure for real, noone can cut and paste a background that perfectly.. Besides I suppose he is not the only attraction at that event, the people in the backround are oviously looking at something else, cooler than him for the moment.

Go Minque! Good with some female entries, I wouldn't want to live in Tamriel if there were no females!

Alright, I second the complain about the hobbit, the contest is about TES right, now how could a hobbit make their way to Tamriel? Please Alex or stargelman, explain smile.gif.

Neix: I so look forward to see your entry! A crab-armour! It must have taken ages to make it..!

I'm starting to think I have no chance in the contest sad.gif.. Need to think of somethin cool, original and tamrielic.. hmmm.. *goes away to figure something cunning out*

I believe you are talking about "Crunchy"? If so then you must be joking.. Have you tried looking at the picture full-size? Check his cloth over the sadle of the horse.. Or check the foot in the ehm "foot-holder" (tongue.gif)... Or check his hand holding the leather straps leaning on the horsemane... If that picture is NOT uthentic, then we have found the master of falsification.. Of all times... Ever...

Sorry to be this harsh, but I really don't see the falsification in that picture..

Well, since this looks really interesting and fun, I shall enter. Though I think its a little unfair to win on things you bought or pictures you took at a medieval fair instead of specifically for this. Anyways, expect three pictures, all mind blowing. tongue.gif

yeah, it is made from horseshoe crabs that i collected, cleaned, and then put together with leather. I also have painted the majority of the armor using runes that i devised. I will probably have enough time to go out to a state park nearby after i get back from break.....

thanks for the enthusiasm!

Ooh, sounds cool. I hope I can beat that with simple bribery and smooth talk. Maybe I'll just have the game "fall out" of the delivery truck. tongue.gif

Work has started on my costumes, mostly concept sketches and such, but its work! I won't reveil what they are, but thats so its a suprise. Don't think for a second I'm joining purely for the game (though it is part of it).

yeah, I have spent a bit of time collecting weapons and making armor, so it's been a big process for about 3 years of looking at stuff and making trips. Good luck everyone with their costume projects!!!

if crunchy is painted I am truly amazed, the sun is less than an hour from setting and you can see it on the trees, croud, stirups, feet, armor, and horse. also, I dont see any outline on the helm that has a very bright blue background on it so that a black outline would be more pronounced. I am not sure what part makes you see that it might be painted, but if you are sure then you have a good eye indeed.

Vinya,

Try using maper mache for the antler hat. You may want to hit your local costuming shop for a base to use for it, but the antler's themselves could be made of a somewhat light guage wire covered with paper mache.

I've saw Crunchy's pic, it's cool and all with the armour but shouldn't he show his face? Those were the rules, show your face and a picture with you in common clothes so that we know it's you. I mean that picture with the knight could be taken at any medieval fair when the knight ain't looking. Not fair I say.

I can see that Crunchy might pose a problem. But checking his body size with the help of the non-costumed photo might help a bit. And yeah, when are the women going to enter? The Elderscrolls never stopped you from being the hero (or villain) just cause you're female. Nah, they're just taking their time to get something real good. Men, beware.

Also, I entered, yay! smile.gif
