Don't know how many there is, they just keep popping up for me... I've destroyed many. But locations, well they are everywhere - Seen one all the way up north near the border to Hammerfell on a lonely mountain top, whilst I've seen others around in the forest. There is always someone near the cities too But I don't know any lists, you simply have to stick to the main quest and you will have to destroy a couple
