My first fanfic, will probably be very rubbish -.-

"So," thought Cyrodiil Jones as he sat in the tree, "THIS was what all the fuss was about? Being chased by a pack of wolves? Being forced to hack through a load of thick, smelly undergrowth? I swear," he thought, "if I go through all this and it turns out there is no treasure, i'll kill that Argonian." Four days earlier, his contact in the Imperial City, Sits-in-The-Shade, had tipped him off about a bunch of mercenaries who had set up camp in some ruins in the middle of the almost jungle-like forest, and had supposedly dissapeared, leaving their loot behind. Of course, he wasn't Shade's only contact, and he was certain that several other adventurers would be hacking their way through the forest even as he climbed. He looked down to check whether the wolves had gone, and jumped down. He heard a rustle in the bushes, and dived under a fallen tree trunk that had rotted away. Face down in the dirt, he heard a voice. He couldn't place the accent. Possibly Redguard?
"It's nothing. Probably just a deer." Another voice said "I'll check." This one was female. He heard the distinctive sound of a detect life spell, and breathed a sigh of relief that he had remembered to bring his hat of concealing.
"Nothing," said the second voice, "I told you! You're too jittery. Let's go."
He cautiously raised his head, and saw a Redguard and a High Elf female hacking through the bushes. "So I was right then," he thought. "I've gotta be more careful."
He waited until the sounds of the two adventurers faded, then stood up, checked his map, aimed himself in the right direction, unslung his bow, and marched off.

Four Days Later...

Cyrodiil Jones crept through the trees, following on silent footsteps the two adventurers he had encountered before. There was no doubt about it, they were after HIS treasure. He aimed his bow at the Redguard, reasoning that he should take out the strongest first, and released the bowstring. His arrow wizzed straight through the trees, through the back of the Redguards head and out the other side. The High Elf female looked round at the soft grunt and thud of the body falling, spotted Jones and conjured demonic armour over her slightly tattered robes. He fired an arrow at her, but she caught it with telekinesis, and sent it zooming straight back at him, missing by a hair's breadth. He swore under his breath, ducked and rolled and drew his enchanted dagger. It gleamed in his hand more than it should normally in this murky forest. She sent a fireball straight at his head, but he leaned easily to one side and dodged it, then charged her. She seemed to have decided that magic wasn't going to help her here, and summoned a twisted axe into her hand. He swiped at her legs, she leapt a foot into the air and rolled behind him. He was amazed at the skill shown here. This one was good. There was no time for admiration though. She swiped upwards with her axe, obviously trying to disarm him, but he jinked sidewards and stabbed towards her head with the dagger. She ducked, twirled the axe in elaborate circles and swung mightily towards his head. He leapt backwards just in time, and shook his head. "You fight well, for a mage," She didn't reply, but just leapt, but he was ready for her,and slid under her wild swipe and stabbed upwards into her stomach. She screamed as the enchanted dagger emptied its poison into her, and collapsed, clutching her stomach. He dropped the dagger onto the floor and said, "You should have run." He went to the body of the Redguard and checked it as the Elf's blood ran onto the forest floor. He didn't have much gold, but he had a interesting little device and a key. He pocketed both. He would have a look at the device later, but right now he wanted to see what the key was. He suspected that the key was to the ruins he was heading towards. He pulled a grubby piece of paper out of his pocket, and checked the diagram on it against the key. Yes, no doubt, this was the key. He pocketed it again, and left.

Good, no? The next episode will be back, depending on fan ratings.

Fun stuff! I always love humor and we will certainly need some Oblivion humor as we become shambling, gibbering, twitching red-eyed shells of our former selves. (Not, of course, speaking from firsthand experience.)

More please?

Outstanding! Certainly an entertaining read, and with good form.

I agree, we need a new, fresh-faced treasure hunter around here, ready to brave the insane traps of the Ayleid ruins. You should definitely continue! smile.gif

As I said in another thread..... After all it´s your decision, of course you shall continue! so it´s really not necessary to make a poll!

But if you like my opinion: yes please keep it up!

Next Episode

They called it Reading the Wind...
They said that a master bowman, one who was one with his bow, who had reached the highest possible point of impossible perfection, could see the wind, read it, feel it's nuances and it's quirks, the tiny little signs, that allowed the perfect shot.

Cyrodiil Jones was not a master bowman. He was a pretty good bowman. He could hit a target at 50 paces, but only a master could get a bullseye. So as he trudged through the forest, bow slung on his back, he pondered. He thought about the nature of arrows, he considered the way that his bow creaked, he wondered about the strange ways of wind. So, when the arrow swished past his head and hit the tree directly in front of him, he nearly didn't notice. The other arrow, on the other hand, did get his attention. It was hard for it to not to. It hit him directly on the backside. He yelled, yanked the arrow out and ducked behind a tree. As he peeked out, he saw a lean, confident looking Wood Elf holding a bow. "Come out, come out, wherever you are!" taunted the Wood Elf. Jones unslung his bow and notched an arrow, aimed along the shaft - and let loose. The arrow flew directly into where the Wood Elf's head would have been, had he not stepped smartly to the side. "You'll have to do better than that, Jones!" called out the Elf. 'How did he know my name?' thought Jones. But there was no time to wonder, as another arrow zoomed right over his head. He reached up, and felt that the arrow had cut a neat path right through his hair. He looked up. "Damn," he muttered under his breath. Then he saw behind the Elf there was a Dunmer, creeping up with a small but lethal looking dagger in his hand. The Dunmer got as close as he could, then whipped the head of the unsuspecting Wood Elf upwards and slit his throat. Rich, thick blood spurted out onto the forest floor. The Dunmer wiped his dagger clean on a tuft of grass, and sheathed it. He looked up, and saw Jones standing there. "G'day mate. My name's Raloth." he said. Jones, expecting to be rushed, was suprised. "I thought you were going to kill me." he said. "Nah," said Raloth, "It's this little n'wah," kicking the corpse "who i've been following right through this forest. He robbed my house, murdered my wife, and left me for dead. So, y'know, no worries." His accent was strange. Jones had never heard it before.
"You want to join me? I'm going for treasure. I heard there was a Ayleid ruin round here with gold, jewels, you name it," said Jones. "Luckily, I got a key off some High Elf. And this wierd little device." He took the device out of his pocket and showed it to Raloth. His eyes widened as he looked down at the little thing. "If this is what I think it is, its very very bad..." said Raloth slowly. "How do you mean?," said Jones. "Well..." said Raloth...

Next episode will be along soon.

Ah, this is getting interesting. Why do you have to leave us with a cliffhanger? Oh, my poor nerves. Please write the next one.

I am really enjoying the unexpected turns of this story. Surely our hero didn't show that Dunmer <gasp> his..... quest compass!?

Very well done indeed. You are very descriptive in your storytelling it made me feel as though I was really there. I also ducked when the arrows started flying biggrin.gif Great work and I can't wait to read on!
