This is just to prove to you all that having a lot of space on C: really helps your performance.

After all my downloading exploits I had ended up with around 50 MB left on my hard drive.
I attempted to play Oblivion, but was running on all low settings, reduced draw distance and no grass and it was still slightly choppy. This is on a high end PC.

Now I have 13.8GB free after a mad deleting spree and it runs max perfectly. smile.gif

So there you go, a lesson for you all to clean your disk drives if you're having trouble.

Wow, 50 MB free is not very much! Strange you even got the PC started up with that... smile.gif I bet Windows in general runs much quicker now as well?

Yep, everything works fine now. It's only a 60GB hard drive of course.

I was getting endless warning messages every time I did anything, so it was time to act.

Got 2x200 GB hardrive, one is my backup, other is main.

Main one usually ends up partitioned a lot. I have my backup with a giant partition, as that one remains untouched.
My main one will get up to 7 partitions, my main one is Windows 2000 on a 120 GB partition, I plan to get windows XP on a 20 GB. And linux on a 20 GB.

Yay for partitions biggrin.gif

50 MB is crazily low! Keep at MINIMUM 1 GB free

Yeah, my old hard disk was at the point where it wouldn't defrag. It just stopped after a while (several hours). Left it on while I was at work one day, but still at the same % when I came home.

I defrag my new hard drive at least once a week. Even then there are hundreds of fragged files, sometimes with 1000s of segments, even though the disk is about 1/3 full (160 GB Raptor X).

Close everthing down before you defrag, and chances be, that if you can't defrag your hd, you can't play oblivion very well......
