Yes, Yes, Yes. I love Oblvion, I love the new factions and the voices.

But, and I sure some of you will agree with me.....the Daedric Dagger,...looks like a dagger....not like the morrowind version. WHAT THE HECK>?>?@@!!

I loved the morrwind Version

In Morrowind you can make it the throwing variety if you really want to. Right click in the weapons list in TESCS, click New, fill in the ID & name, choose "throwing knife" when it calls for weapon type and then in the ArtFile, click and browse your second disk until you find the Mesh for the Daedric Dagger. Choose it and do likewise for the Icon slot. Then Save. Now you should have a Daedric Throwing Dagger. You can set the stats the way you want them. Cool, huh?

Another of my favorite weapon recreations was to turn Claymores into one-handed swords that were powerfully long and that way I could use a shield too. tongue.gif

Glad to be of service! I am seriously thinking of going back to Morrowind for keeps. Not only does Obliv lag out on my comp but now the sound is acting funny. Cutting in and out. And you know all the NPCs in Obliv talk to you, so it's aggravating.

I really like the MW construction set a lot better too.

Ive tweaked oblivion to run well on my system. The sound used to pop wildly, I dont remember how, but I fixed that. It was processor lag.

I personally like morrowind a bit better. Its so much more..well, absorbing. Oblivion just seems like a game. Morrowind seems like a story.

Everything feels the same, the leveling feels useless.

It goes in morrowind from nix hounds killing you to you killing Dremora Lords. In oblivion it only feels like you get that strong after you get a full suit of heavy armor and a strong weapon. You cant just level up and be stronger.

I have to admit that Morrowind is more engrossing....I dunno, Oblivion has dissapointed me in so many ways, yet is also better than morrowind in many ways.

I love the magic system on Oblivion. And the sneaking bit. But I can't just sit down and play for hours like I used to with Morrowind. In Morrowind there was a sense of achievement when I raided Daedric shrines and when I took all the Dwemer stuff from a Dwemer ruin (I used to collect as much of that as I could but I haven't a clue why).

And in Morrowind you'd sometimes have to spend hours wandering around completing a quest, often running into so many other things in the process. It's easier to complete quests on Oblivion but you don't really ever have to search and interact with things to find your objective because it's always marked on the map with that big arrow.

The best bit about Oblivion though is no Cliff Racers. That was Morrowind's major downside... wandering along through the ashlands and you hear that horrible screech and you turn round to see about 20 Cliff Racers that followed you all the way from Balmora.

smile.gif i remeber that... fortunatly I've managed to get a spell that zaps everything in sound distance (Max size on target, which means... the ground) ... bye bye Cliff Racers...

For Oblivion, when i get it, I promise you all NOT to use that, Fast Track system ever... (And i mean it)

It's useful when you don't want to walk for hours to the next town through tons of pointless forest...so I'll bet you use it at least once just to see what it's like, the temptation will get to you. tongue.gif

Fast travel is also useful to move around within the cities (especially the Imperial City)... it's kind of like the gondolas in Vivec, in that regard.

I mean, within a city you're unlikely to suddenly stumble on a forgotten ruin or meet some unexpected wildlife, so using fast travel in there makes sense and doesn't feel like cheating. You can't FT from the local area map, so you can't zap straight to a shop or house of interest, but you can still usually FT to each gate and the local castle, or any district in the IC.

My general feelings about Obilivion are fairly consistent with the other posts in this thread. I've played it through to the completion of the MQ and the Mage's Guild quests, but the lack of thought required starts to become a problem after a while for an older gamer like me. I took it as a point of pride to work out a certain puzzle involving books in the main quest on my own without being spoon-fed by the NPC, but even so the solution was the first thing I tried, and that's probably the largest sense of actual achievement I felt in the game beyond simple character building.

Having the big glowing arrow that points you towards your goal allows you to just... follow. And then when you want to find someone not a quest target in town, you have to run around for ages trying to find them. I'd have much preferred if they'd set things up so you could ask random individuals if they'd seen such-and-such, and they could say "they're usually at the temple at this time of day" or similar. Personally, I'd have happily foregone the 100% voiced dialogue for that feature.

Anyway, I've enjoyed playing it, overall, but my annoyances with it have inspired me to actually start coding up my own game I've been designing for years. So, it's all good, I guess smile.gif
