Yo! Just wanted to drop in and say hi cause I'm back! biggrin.gif

Well, kinda, at least I'm no longer überbusy saving the world from daedric lords or unjust trade (the trade being slightly more dangerous). Now I'll be able to chill once again with the best community on the web. You.

Age of Empires III was not crap... Def not as good as II but it was great fun none-the-less. I wished the units would of stood a bit closer so i could of had that volley feel but..

Rise of Nations is undoutably the BEST rts I've ever played. That and the expansion. It was so fecking awesome. and still is.. if I could find it.. sad.gif. Rise of Legends is great fun but its missing that feel that RoN had.

Blizzard RTS are awesome though. And Diablo is a legend for itself. Sure, a pure hack&slash, but it was fun. biggrin.gif

So true about Diablo ... as far as I can remember, Diablo 1 was the game to start everybody playing MMORPG's, wasn't it? Who doesn't know of Tyreal? I never did play the secret cow level, but everytime Cain & I go to pay in person at our RoadRunner Cable company - he has me go "moo, moo. moo, moo.." with him as we go through the ropes of the waiting line! Not exactly sure why. lol

QUOTE(Geonox @ May 28 2006, 12:15 PM)
I never realy played online games. I've only played lineage 2 and sw galaxies [which was a demo tongue.gif...] for a wile. But I must say that the graphics are pretty cool and its in fact cool to play with real people instead of some pre-programmed computer figure.
*

Geonox, I love playing Lineage and that is one of the prettiest graphics and characters and armor of any game I've played. I love the white elves & dark elves the best, although my little female dwarf is just adorable. Lineage has just enough of the Anime style blended with realism to make it work in America and Korea where it was made. The reason that the game keeps alerting you when you've played for an hour and suggests that you take a break is that Korea is supposed to be the most wired country in the world and those kids who died playing video games at the internet cafes who didn't pause for food or rest for the equivalent of several days straight. Now that's too too serious about gaming!!

Hilarious HyPNO! Sadly probably true.

And I still gotta check out Spore ... that and the Poser program. I wanna give that a try too. biggrin.gif

Or maybe someone should put up a "waiting4spore.com" site biggrin.gif.

However, I try not to hype too much, I don't want to be dissapointed again.

Why are you talking about these boring games?

The next interesting game to come out is Fallout 3. I don't say that because I'm a Bethsoft fanboy (I'm not) - otherwise I'd have to cheer for their Star Trek games too, which I don't - but rather because I love Fallout. I've only discovered them recently but have played both parts excessively. And I've heard a few things about Fallout 3 and how it'll work and stuff, so I am a bit hyped. I'm also anxious, as I can't yet see how an isometric game with turn based combat can be successfully transplanted into a first person perspective with real time combat (or so I believe). I guess we'll see.

We're also thinking about doing a site about that, but nothing's decided yet; and from what I understand, the game is still quite a while away from being published.

A game caught my attention in PC Gamer mag, called Prey . I think it's a first person shooter but it's about a native American guy trying to protect his gf & himself from a biomechanical alien spaceship that is stripmining the planet for human meals. Something like that. Supposed to be alot of weird gravitational and other effects.
Anyone heard anything else about this?

I doubt it, since in Diablo 1 you could only have 4 people playing in one session. I played it a lot in single player, and then I tryed online: Not the same feeling. While I was working hard to create my char, everybody was using a ''duplicating technique''. Just throw an item to the ground, click to pick it up, and at the moment picking it, left click on your potion. And you duplicated the item. So everybody was having top rated items. So unfair, and I think that glitch was never fixed.

Cow level? I think you open the portal to cow level by puting the Wirt's leg in Horadric Cube. Then a bunch of cows attack you with scythes. Hillarius!

Boring games? FYI, those games are legendary. Something I could play today, and not get bored. Man I swear, older games completly own todays games. Nowdays, all the effort is thrown on graphics instead of gameplay, for sake of younger audience. Just look at Oblivion. Soon, Baldur's Gate 3 development will start, but I'm unsure will it be as good as BGII. And please, don't get hyped for Fallout 3. We saw that Bethesda is capable of dumbing down games, so it would be wise not to get your hopes too high. But if ib comes out good: even better...

Scary-Bunny/Cat boss is right. Fallout 3 is going to be far better than Spore. Personally I think that the next game that's going to rock is Medieval Total War 2, but we'll just put that aside...

Fallout 2 was the first game I spent more than a day, non-stop, playing. I ate at the PC. I drank at the PC. I only went to pee whilst my man was walking on the insanely huge map.

Fallout and Fallout 2 have so much promise. At first I thought 'this is just isometric Mad Max', but once you get into the desparation of the towns just trying to survive, you begin to get emersed. And then you've got the faction battles that trully feel important. Ignoring the Mutants, the Brotherhood of Steel, the US Secret Service, there were all the little factions too. Who to side with in Reno? Should you destroy or control Jet production? Who do you side with in Redding - Redding, Vault City, Reno or NCR? The battle between the Chinese and the Scientologists? Do you help Ghouls or destroy them? Boulder Hills - worth it or worthless? What about the creepy farm in Modoc, or the excitement of exploring a busted vault? And Tandi! Once she was a stupid mook of a kid, now she's an old lady with a crazy empire under her belt!

Plus there was the little features. The perks that had a sense of humour. The blissful 'bloody mess', where all your enemies automatically died in the most ludicrous and gory way possible.

THAT is a classic game, with real, meaningful depth. Never mind Baldurs Gate 2, Fallout 2 is the pinnacle of RPG excellence. Now, I think that, seeing as how Bethesda got that 'we must make things look really, really good' bug out of their system, with Fallout 3 you are going to get Oblivion graphics with Morrowind gameplay (seeing as how it appears I missed much by not playing it), all in a fantastic post-apocalyptic universe. Bring that baby on!

Ah ofcourse! Fallout is the second best game in my list, after MW. So obviously I'm very anxious about F3, however, I'm a bit doubtful on the fact that it seems it will be 3D.. I wonder if that's really a good idea..

Another game I'm looking forward to is Gothic 3. I only played Gothic 2 before, but it rocked.

Foster: I've played tons of games for more than a day non-stop tongue.gif You've heard of lan-parties? Well, I do agree though that F2 gets you immersed in a way no other game has done before (except F1 tongue.gif), so I understand how it could be your first.

Calm down dude, it's not a competition. I'm sorry that my first all-night gaming experience took place when I was at the ripe age of 17, and that I never was able to get past those pesky things like going out to play football or bike ride with friends, going to school or sleeping (same thing?), before that.

I've never had a LAN party. In fact the most multiplayer I've ever been is playing Unreal Tournament and Championship Manager with my housemates via LAN cables. Fact is though, that I'm antisocial and a really bad loser, so I don't enjoy playing multiplayer games. The only exception is playing against my brother on his X-Box, because that's totally different. He always beats me, but we get to insult/punch each other, and that makes it far more satisfying.
