you´re brave, not everyone can take criticism you know...no matter how constructive it is... :goodjob:
thank you minque. Btw, expect another part tomorrow. I know I haven't been very prompt lately but as I said, I broke my ankle and the doctor has me coming in every now and then. I should be able to post tomorrow though. I also may start another story. I know it's probably not a good idea to try and write 2 stories at once but I have a pretty good idea here. I'm making a new thread about it.

Make sure this new thread will be nothing but your story. We don't need another thread about "what should my story be about" or "what should it have in it." Those threads are now not allowed here in the Fan fic area.

Seth drew Keening from his right thigh and crouched into his fighting stance. He heard Odyssius unsheath his sword.

Aggressiveness is not the key here. I made the mistake of underestimating this woman once, I shall not do it again.

Odyssius charged, swinging his sword with all his might. Seth watched as the Night Mother dodged the blow and retalitated with a quick slash to the back of the leg. Odyssius went down. Now the woman was focusing on Seth.

She ran at him swung her shortsword. When Seth evaded she quickly spun and saw him thrusting his mighty dagger. She used her sword to parry and kicked him in the stomach. He stumbled back, caught his balance and attacked again, this time leaping into the air and attempting to thrust Keening into her head. She took a step forward and easily dodged the attack.

By now Odyssius had stood back up and was ready. The Night Mother had her back turned so now was the time to strike. He charge with all his might, running full speed at the woman. Unfortunately she heard his adamantium boots hitting the ground as he ran and dodged just as Seth had attempted another attack. He and the imperial collided. After a moment Seth stood. He looked at the Night Mother and saw her smiling. She pointed at Keening, there was blood on it.

Seth looked down at Odyssius and saw that he wasn't moving. He bent down and rolled the imperial onto his back and saw the wound. When they collided Seth must have accidently stabbed the imperial in the neck.

Argh! I may not be able to kill this woman without him.

Seth stood and looked the Night Mother in the eye. He knew that in her mind she was laughing at him. She thought he was pathetic. His anger grew and turned to rage. It fueled him, drove him. He would not let that woman kill him.

"Ahh!" he screamed as he charged.

He leapt to his right, kicked off the wall, and hurled himself at the woman with blinding speed. He made contact and tackle her to the ground. She landed on her back with him kneeling over her, one knee on each side. He stabbed at her head, she turned her head and he got nothing but stone floor. The woman rolled over, knocking Seth off. They both stood and attacked at the same time. Seth parried her thrust and dug his right shoulder into her chest, sending her to the ground. He then kicked her sword out of her hand and placed his foot on her throat.

"Stupid woman. No one laughs at me. I am the shadow of nerevar. The incarnate. You will show me respect." Seth said these words with hate in his voice.

The Night Mother began to mutter and incantation. By the time Seth's mind had registered this it was too late. She was gone. It must have been recall or some other teleportation spell. No matter...she was gone and he could not kill her now.

"Damn!" he screamed at the walls.

After a few more minutes of venting his anger, Seth grabbed Odyssius' pouch and went through it to see if he had anything useful. Nothing, only a few empty bottles of flin and a the note telling him where to find the Dark Brotherhood base. Seth put down the pouch and headed for the exit. There was someone he needed to speak to...

Seth had met a few more assassins on his way out of the base and dealt with them quite brutally. He walked back through the sewers and climbed up the ladder and into the light of day. He walked through the great bazaar and to the heavy door to plaza brindisi dorom, taking special care to run into anyone and everyone who came within four feet of him. He brushed past a few guards before entering the courtyard and going straight to the throne room.

“Seth! I thought you were dead! Do you bring good news?”

“They say no. Odysseus is dead, by the way. Forget about the Dark Brotherhood, they no longer offer you their help. I know a place you can stay.” Said Seth

“What? What happened? Where are we going?” asked Helseth

“Don’t ask questions. You have 15 minutes to get anything the you feel that you may NEED and meet me in the courtyard.”
---------------------------------------

I know it’s short but I’m just coming back so this is just to show that I’m not gone forever. I’m sorry I was gone for so long, I just haven’t had the chance to update.

Seth waited in the courtyard for Helseth who arrived carrying large packs and bags.

"What is all this?" he asked

"I need my books for study, my papers for writing, my--" he was cut off.

"You need a weapon for killing and a potion for healing. Armor would be a good idea as well. Your life is on the line, here. I'll not let you die."

"Very well."

The kind returned 5 minutes later in a black set of royal guard armor with an enchanted katana sheathed at his side.

"Follow me." said Seth

The pair went into the reception area and found an argonian mage who could teleport them to the mainland. Apparently he didn't recognize the king so after bit of fowl language and a few threats they were standing in the grand council chambers in Ebonhart. They quickly went to the docks and took a boat to Vivec where they went to the silt strider and jumped towns until they were in Khuul where they would stay for the night. Seth led Helseth to a small cottage just outside the village.

"Stay here, I'll have someone come over to stand guard very shortly. I have to go take care of some business before we can get to Solsthiem."

"Alright, you don't happen to have any food here do you?" asked Helseth

"Ask him..." said Seth pointing to a dark corner on the other side of the room. Helseth looked over there to see the head of a nordic male sitting on a chair. "I figured I'd leave him to watch over you."

"Ugh!" said Helseth, gagging. Seth laughed. He did have a sense of humor, no matter how twisted it was.

There was a knock on the door. Helseth reached for his sword but Seth waved, signalling for him not to. He silently walked up to the door and drew Keening. He held the mighty dagger behind his back as he cracked the door.

"Oh, hello Polides. Come in." said Seth as he sheathed Keening once more. In walked a handsome young Imperial clad in imperial steel armor. Strapped to his side was an imperial broadsword and in his left hand he held an imperial sheild.

"Fine evening, is it not?" he asked

"I really don't pay much attention. It's either rainy or clear." replied Seth as he made for the door. "I'll see you two later."

He stepped out into the night. The sky was clear and the moons shown brightly, bathing the country side in an eery grey light. Seth looked around for a moment before setting off toward the silt strider. He arrived to find the driver dead, her throat slit. Seth simply turned and headed in he other direction, back toward the town.

Once he had made it back to town he made his way to a cottage on the docks and walked in. He went over to a crate beside the bed and reached in, withdrawing a scroll, which he quickly put into the pouch on his side before heading back to the shack.

As he neared the shack, Seth hear something. A mere rustling in the bushes but it was enough to attract his attention. He drew a throwing star from a pouch behind his back and threw it into the bushes. Apparently it hit it's mark as a gasp escaped the bush. Seth walked up and found a dunmer assassin clad in netch leather lying behind the bushes with the star stuck slanted in his throat. Seth reached down and searched the corpse finding nothing but an honorable writ of execution and a few drakes. He then left the body to rot as he headed once more for the shack. He was again interupted.

"AHHH!" came the cry of a very inexperienced assassin. Seth turned to see a dunmer dressed in black clothing running at him with a rusted iron shortsword. He sidestepped, drawing Keening at the same time and, as the attacker turned, threw the blade at him. It hit it's mark, digging into the forehead of this foolish dunmer. Once again Seth checked the body to find nothing but a few drakes and a writ. This was getting to be a bit on the boring side.

Seth left the dead assassin lying in the dirt as he headed back to the shack. Once he arrived he entered to find he man he had hired to guard Helseth lying dead and Helseth standing over him with his sword drawn and bloody.

“What is this?” Seth asked

“He attacked me, I had no choice. As I lay down to sleep and heard his boots as he crept across the room. I opened my eyes to find him with his sword raised and ready to swing. I rolled over and pulled my sword out. As I stood he swung again and managed to scrape my arm. I swung before he could pull his sword up to block again and cut his throat.” Was Helseth’s reply

“I don’t suppose anyone can be trusted. I was jumped by two assassins on my way back here. We’ll stay here, but I’m not sleeping, you go ahead. We leave for Solstheim in the morning.”

“Alright. See you in the morning.” Said Helseth, Seth merely grunted in acknowledgment.

Seth stayed up all night. For hours he sat looking out the window listening for any sound that may reach his ears. There. He had heard something just outside the window, a rustle in the grass. He ducked below the window sill just as a fearsome looking nord looked into it, therefore seeing nothing but a sleeping king. As he heard the nord walk off, Seth stood and crept p to the door and got just far enough away so that if the nor kicked it in he wouldn’t be hit.

Just as Seth had expected, the nord soon approached the door and with a soft grunt, kicked it. The door flew off it’s hinges and flew across the room to land on a now screaming Helseth.

Seth ducked into a corner and drew a throwing star. He waited for the nord to close in on the horrified king before letting the star loose. It hit the nord on the right fore arm, but apparently it wasn’t too painful as the large man did not drop his axe. Instead he turned to see his attacker. Seth had already moved and drawn another star. He threw again, hitting the nord once more in the right forearm, mere millimeters from the first. Seth watched the as the nord dropped his axe, now he would truly attack. He leapt into the air and came at the nord from the right with Keening raised, aiming for the barbarian’s head. When the nord moved and raised his arms to swat Seth out of the air he switched his aim to the artery just under the armpit. He hit his mark and the nord let out a bellow before falling to his knees and attempting to stop the bleeding.

Seth sat crossed-legged and watched as the nord slowly lay down and blood poured from his open wound. He watched until the attacker drew not a single breath, then he threw the body out the doorway. He then pulled the door off Helseth and leaned it up against the doorway.

“Get some sleep, long day tomorrow.” he said to Helseth

“Wake up…wake up!” Seth yelled at Helseth

“What is it?”

“We leave in ten minutes.” Said Seth

“Ok…” said Helseth, standing and gathering his things.

Seth pulled the door off the doorway and set it to the side. Looking out into the early morning atmosphere he checked for anything that may seem out of the ordinary, it was clear. He turned and looked around the room looking for anything that may be of some use. He saw a sword leaning against the wall in a dark corner. He went to investigate.

It was an ebony scimitar that seemed to have an enchantment. Seth picked it up and used the tip to knick his thumb. He was thrown backward as life itself seemed to drain from his body. He heard Helseth screaming and listened as the screams slowly faded to a dull whisper and were about to stop when all the life seemed to rush back into his body. He took a deep breath.

“What happened?!” screamed Helseth.

“Absorb health enchantment. Use this sword.” Seth said, handing the scimitar to Helseth who looked from the blade and back to Seth with amazement. “Finish gathering your things. Leave the old sword behind, it’s nothing but more weight.”

After Helseth had strapped on his armor and gathered the rest of his things in a bag which he threw over his shoulder they left the shack and went down to the docks. They found the captain of the small boat to Solstheim and Seth him 50 septims to go as fast as possible. After a few hours they had arrived at Frostmoth Legion Fort on the island of Solstheim.

Seth led Helseth quickly off the boat and through the fort where not a single soldier recognized him. They were soon following a river north until Seth turned and they headed northwest. After dispatching a few wolves, bears, and even a few spriggans, they had arrived at a long, fairly narrow building known as the mead hall of Thirsk. They entered.

“Seth! How have you been?” came the booming voice of a Nord. “Our chieftain returns!”

“How are you doing, Devilde?”

“Grand, my friend…hold on.” He turned and called up the stairs onto the second floor. “Seth returns!”

“Seth?” came a voice from upstairs, an imperial accent.

“Thadeus, are you still here?”

“I am, where have you been?” The imperial had reached the bottom of the stairs. He was dressed in the native Nordic clothing with a chitin dagger strapped to his right thigh. He had shoulder-length brown hair which he usually put up in a pony tail with a knot at the bottom, it was down now however.

“Working…it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen you. How is the new hobby doing?” asked Seth

“Hunting? Not as fun as it was when I first arrived on Solstheim. I’m ready to get back to the way it was in old times.” Was Thadeus’ reply

“I may be able to help you there if you are sure.”

“What do you mean?”

“Do you know who this is?” Seth indicated Helseth.

“Is that…King Helseth?”

“It is. We have run into a spot of trouble and to be honest we may need your help. We are going against the Dark Brotherhood and the Morag Tong. They aren’t working together but they may end up doing so before this is over.” Said Seth

“There may be a problem in all this.” said Thadeus, a look of concern on his face.

“Problem?”

Thadeus called upstairs and a beautiful imperial woman gracefully descended them.

“This is Alisha…”

“A woman?”

“Yes…I met her nearly a year ago…we are getting married.”

“This complicates things a bit…” Seth said with a look of disappointment he apparently did not try to hide.

“Wait.” said Alisha

“What is it?” asked Thadeus

“You can go. You talk about Seth all the time, there isn’t a single situation we get into that you cannot relate to a story you have about an adventure you took with Seth. I will be fine, go.” Thadeus looked at her for a moment before turning to Seth.

“Would I be able to buy a house and return every once in a while to check mail?” he asked

“How often?”

“Once a month at the most.”

“That will do.” said Seth

“Very well…where are we headed?”
----------------------------------

The story will be going a bit slow for the next few passages as far as action.

Just found this story, and already you've sucked me in. I look forward to seeing if/how Helseth manages to avoid getting killed.

Thank you. I don't think i'm near as good as I was before. The first chapter and the first few updates in this one are what I consider my "prime." I just have a mild case of writer's block, lol.

“Before we go anywhere,” Seth said, “You need to gather your things and say your goodbyes. Helseth here needs to get settled in as well.

“Ok, excuse me then.” Thadeus said

“Of course.” said Seth. He actually seemed rather sane if he hadn’t seen death in a few hours.

Thadeus and Alisha walked silently up the stairs and to their room. When they arrived, Thadeus began rummaging through his things to find anything he may need for the journey to come.

“Where do you think you will go?” asked Alisha

“There is no telling, but it must be dangerous if it was enough to make Helseth leave his palace and make Seth come here.” said Thadeus without looking up from a large trunk full of weapons. A variety of daggers, bows, shortswords, and smaller marksman’s weapons…darts, throwing stars, etc.

“How often will you write me?”

“As often as possible. I will probably not be able to send the letters out but I will save them and give them to you when I return.”

“If you return…” Alisha said these words with great sadness on her face and in her voice.

“Don’t think like that. I will return, that I promise you.” He looked up from his work this time.

Alisha lay back on the bed and let out a small whimper. She obviously didn’t want Thadeus to go but she knew he had to.

By now Thadeus had pulled a few weapons out of his trunk. He had a Daedric tanto which was in a sheath that was meant to be strapped to one’s thigh. He had a small pouch which had at least ten chitin throwing stars in it. He then pulled out an armband which was made to hold ten darts, all the way around. He pulled out a handful of steel darts and put ten of them on the armband, returning the rest to the trunk. He took the chitin dagger off his thigh and set it beside his tanto.

“You are taking an awful lot of weaponry with you…”

“It never hurts to be prepared. I have never broken a promise, my love. I don’t plan on doing so now.” Thadeus said, looking up from his chest again. He now withdrew a dwarven shortsword which had a sheath that was meant to go on one’s back.

“I have to go talk to Seth for a moment.” said Thadeus before leaving the room and walking just across the hall to another room.

An interesting update. Thadeus certainly is packing a lot of weaponry; I do hope he is simply being overly prepared.

Just finished reading the story from the beginning, i'm very anxious to see what Seth and Thadeus are going to do next, and if Helseth makes it through all this. There hasn't been an update in a day or two and I very impatiently await the next one.
