 Skingrad, The odd town |

Iīve been thinking a bit over why Skingrad is so different compared to the other towns. I mean, itīs not too far out or anything but there are some things that I canīt get a grip on.
First, isnīt Skingrad the only town where all the doors are reinforced? Why is that? It canīt be because of the count because no one outside the Mages Guild knows about his "state". Second, why is Skingrad the only town to have guards prancing around in heavy armor? Is there a specific lore explanation Iīm not aware of? I do love Skingrad but these things cream my corn. I think Iīve read something about Skingrad being at war with Kvatch in old times, is that why this is? Please, help me!
