Mehrunes Dagon was still not completely satisfied with the battles he had witnessed. He needed more competitors to pit against each other; to eventually face those who had proven themselves.
He caste his eye across the many planes of Nirn, searching for those he deemed worthy. After a short time of searching, two Dunmer drew particular interest. He plucked them both from their respective planes and released them within his tower.
Sethyas Velas was first to recover from the sudden trip. His ember eyes gleamed in confusion at the situation he found himself in. Across the room, he saw a Dunmer picking himself up from the floor. This Dunmer wore the armour of an Ordinator, yet it was ornately coloured red. His built like a soldier, and he wore his dark green hair loosely to his shoulders. An impressive looking sabre was strapped to his waist. Sethyas brushed his black hair aside and then realized they weren’t alone.
Mehrunes Dagon stood above the two mer, looking down upon them. “I have brought you both here to entertain me in a battle among mortals. I have given you two the privilege of being those warriors. I shall warn you now. If you do not fight, you shall both be damned to my Oblivion, and those you love and care for shall be punished for your insolence!”
Mehrunes then grinned maliciously. “And just to make you not believe you are fighting some faceless stranger,” he boomed turning to the Ordinator,” May I present to you Morvayn Dres, former High Ordinator of Vivec. Morvayn, I shall also introduce you to Sethyas Velas, Morag Tong assassin and Nerevarine. Now begin!”
Morvayn looked apologetically towards Sethyas. “I’m sorry, serjo, but I cannot let Mehrunes hurt those that I care for,” he said heavy heartedly as he slowly withdrew his sabre, the Word of ALMSIVI.
Sethyas’ expression hardened as he tossed aside his red robe, revealing the pitch black armour of the Dark Brotherhood. “I understand, Morvayn. I will fight for those I care about as well.”
With that, Morvayn sounded a battle cry and rushed towards the assassin, his sabre raised above his head. Only seconds away from Morvayn unleashing his blow, Sethyas simply evaporated in front of him.
Morvayn held up his charge as he looked around at his surroundings, which had become deathly silent.
Of course, he’s an assassin. He would be using Illusion magic of some sorts.
A hissing noise sounded from Morvayn’s right, and the Dunmer instinctively rolled to the side, but not before a silver arrow grazed a pauldron of his armour. Morvayn arose and looked in the direction of the shot. Sethyas stood in the distance, holding the Bow of Shadows, frowning.
This Ordinator is fast, even with all his armour he managed to avoid serious damage from that shot, he thought.
Morvayn unleashed another battle cry only this time he leapt through the air, closing the distance rapidly between himself and Sethyas.
Sethyas was stunned at what he saw. This was something he had only seen when encountering that vampire he had to dispose of for the Zaniab Tribe, only this time the vampire was faster! Sethyas barely managed to stop the overhead chop of Morvayn’s sabre with his Daedric Katana.
Sethyas was then steadily backing away as Morvayn unleashed a fury of swipes and stabs, his speed of his attacks nearly overwhelming Sethyas. Sethyas made a quick decision, and dropped to the floor and tripped Morvayn with a sweeping leg kick. Morvayn crashed to ground and was immediately forced to defend blows from Sethyas’ Katana.
Morvayn knew he had to get back onto his feet before one of Sethyas’ strike pierced through his armour. He knew that his superior swordsmanship would be put to use to dismantle the assassin if he could get on his feet. In a desperate act, Morvayn lunged forward from the ground, pushing Sethyas back once more. Sethyas know held the Black Hand’s Dagger in his alternate hand, hoping that two blades would be better than one.
It was Morvayn’s turn to implement strategy now. Instead of pressing the attack he now attempted to coax Sethyas into pressing the attack onto him by leading the assassin into thinking he was winded. He breathed deep, heaving breaths as he sloppily held his sabre upright.
Seeing his opponent winded, Sethyas pressed the attack, using both his blades in arcing movements. Yet somehow, the Ordinator was still stopping them. One particular strike, Morvayn managed to twist Sethyas around and score a mild cut across Sethyas’ back.
Sethyas yelled in pain and immediately felt something wrong. He suddenly felt very tired and weak. Morvayn’s blade possessed some sort of draining enchantment! Desperation crossed Sethyas’ eyes as he turned back to face his opponent.
Morvayn then launched at Sethyas with even more speed than Sethyas had seen yet. Again, Sethyas was forced to defensive manoeuvres as he tried to deal with the barrage of sabre strikes flying from the whirlwind of red armour.
Sethyas again used his martial arts to save him, launching a kick that smashed into the side of Morvayn’s head, stunning him instantly. Sethyas was completely drained of energy, yet he still took the effort of driving the Black Hand’s Dagger into Morvayn’s thigh.
Morvayn quickly recovered from the stunning blow as he screamed out in pain at the metal piecing his flesh. A sudden ill feeling swept over him as the blade’s health sapping effects took effect. The blade was then released and Morvayn staggered back up to his feet, anger vividly etched upon his face. The assassin had disappeared again.
Morvayn slowed his breathing down, ears intend on catching any noise. Finally, he picked up the echo of feet. The noise led Morvayn into a labyrinth of hallways.
So, he wishes to play cat and mouse, eh? Well, all I need is one cut and this will be over. You will not catch me with your feet again! Morvayn vowed to himself as he proceeded into the labyrinth.
All the while, Mehrunes kept a steadfast view on the battle taking place before him. He was pleased with the skill his warriors possessed. He knew that it wouldn’t be long until one of them would fall though.
