Yes I afgree too! Here in Sweden the immigrants do have lessons in their own language as well as in swedish..i think the main thing is to learn the language of the country within you live!

Minque, we do that here in America. See, you know how we're all immigrants here? Well because of that, back in the 40s they decided, thanks to your very argument, to teach english all the up to graduate school.

Enough BSing. I'm not an advocate for immigration. I'm not sure that's possible. I simply think that people need some perspective about the whole thing.

Funny story in regards to immigration. My second cousin once removed was finally doing her citizenship test, and she passed easily (she's been living here for like 10 years). her name is Merhianne and the lady wrote it down on file as Mary N. She was totally pissed off that they were trying to change her name so she refused to accept it. They said she could either take that or not be a citizen. She said fine, don't make me a citizen. The ended up changing it to Mary Anne.

I don't understand that at all. If your kid is born in America you're allowed to name him or her the msot F'd up thing you can think of but if they come from somewhere else they can't keep their identidy.

Argh! As if they'd try and change someones name? That's really annoying. At least they'd never do anything like that in Britain.

It's pretty much standard for legal immigration. my friend Ming from Malaysia came to america and they had him select a name from a list of American names to choose. He just picked one from the list not knowing what the hell it meant, and now he's damned for the rest of his life to be a Winston

Vaguely on the topic of immigration, Ireland has loads of them now from all over the place. In the main they aren't bad, bring some cultural diversity and all that, but it does irritate me that you get so many people working behind the counter in shops that have no idea what the hell you're saying to them because they never bothered to learn English properly.
That's a little unrealistic. They don't come to America politically. They're not waiting for a debate when they cross the border. They're not trying to jsutify anything.

Also, it's not the situation over all. Where have you been? Cancun? Baha?
Err.. well when I ment family, I ment my older brother biggrin.gif

Me and him crossed the boarder (we just drove through) and got waisted in some nobody town.

But I did go down there with a my church missions group, and we went to some hell holes..

BTW, if the illegal aliens are so fluent in english, as you have said, why the hell can't they speak it? And why, if they bother, do they take the english courses when they know that either they will drop out, and/or walk away knowing how to say, "Hey mister tobbacco farmer! Gemme a job!"

America is home to Americans, WHY should we let NON americans live in our country? Splain to me why this doesn't make sense..

When did I say they were fluent in english. You're setting up a strawman here. I don't uinderstand this at all. I'm jsut trying to say that you nheed some perspective on their situation and you attack me for being some advocate for illegal immigration.

This is a place for civilized discussions. I can see where this is going soon so im gona ask yall to not go to far with this stuff. I think a change in subjet is due.

If a White man(that race in particular) has lived in africa all his life and has nothing but help the africans should the goverment throw him out of the country and take his land? Is that right?
