...you lazy butts, making me double post tongue.gif

During my Keyboard Cleaning Spree I've listened [and am still listening to new Idlewild's LP, "Make another world":

1. Idlewild - In Competition For The Worst Time (2:43)
2. Idlewild - Everything (As It Moves) (3:22)
3. Idlewild - No Emotion (3:04)
4. Idlewild - Make Another World (4:06)
5. Idlewild - If It Takes You Home (2:07)
6. Idlewild - Future Works (4:16)
7. Idlewild - You And I Are Both Away (3:50)
8. Idlewild - A Ghost In The Arcade (2:48)
9. Idlewild - Once In Your Life (4:29)
10. Idlewild - Finished It Remains (3:53)

Let me tell you, this stuff is good. It might be mellow at times, but it is damn god. Scots can be proud of Womble and his crew.

Fight Fire with Fire - Metallica

Talk about unmellow.

Such an awesome song... Call of Ktulu is 110% awesome, and Trapped Under Ice is too.

Did someone say 'unmellow" >:D hell yeah, Idlewild do unmellow too:

QUOTE(A modern way of letting go)

If I know, what I know, then no one will watch over you
So someone shouldn't really tell me what I want to know
I know, I owe, and I know that matters don't matter as much
As you think they do

You will only be yourself
When you can never be yourself
And you will only be yourself
When you understand what you know

How long, will we go on with a modern way of letting go,
tell me how long will we go on with the modern way of letting you go?

If I know, what I know, losing isn't learning to be lost
It's learning to know when you're lost
If I know, what I know,
I'll want to make the most of what it seems like

You will only be yourself
You can never be yourself
And you will only be yourself
When you understand what you know

How long, will we go on with a modern way of letting you go,
tell me how long will we go on with the modern way of letting you go?

That's done in 144 loud seconds. Head collision of Punk & Indie. And, like entire REMOTE PART LP, it's awelicious.

Currently listening to my friend's band, Union of Lanterns. Nice, chilled out rock for those into Oasis and Radiohead-type stuff.

Sunday Random 10

Tobacco Road- The Nashville Teens
Despite the name, a British Invasion band. Band name derived from the Everly Brothers, Nashville Blues.
Like the Everly Brothers (who grew up very near here), had two lead vocalists.

American Patrol- Glenn Miller
Mom and Dad had these old 45 rpm records in a cabinet- I asked what they were..."Glenn Miller."
So the music from their college years became a part of my life, too.

The Week of Living Dangerously- Steve Earle
A song that tells a (somewhat) humorous story of a man who gets tired of the blue-collar grind and decides
to cut loose.
"How you got across that river alive, I don't know-
But your wife just made your bail
And now you're really dead for sure."

Ol' 55- Tom Waits
Apparently recorded by the Eagles- though I don't recall it.... A younger, more innocent Tom-
many, many cigarettes and bottles of bargain Scotch earlier.

Linger- The Cranberries
Yes, I admit I'm a sucker for SOME romantic pop songs, esp. those with an Irish accent.

Poor House- The Traveling Wilburys
Fun music, again showcasing the talents of each individual.

Backstreets- Bruce Springsteen
Yeah, I know, seems like he couldn't possibly work "hidin' on the backstreets" into the vocal
as many times as he did.... And yet it is an iconic '70's rock ballad- "One soft infested
summer...."

Photograph- Ringo Starr
For years, I had no idea who it was who performed this song, but I always listened when it came
on the radio. And then I forget about it again for another (mumble-mumble) years. Tuneful,
melancholy, and nostalgic. Yes, I do remember the '60s- why do you ask?

Christmas Card (from a Hooker in Minneapolis)- Tom Waits
Basically, you kind of have to be there- hearing Tom's whiskey bass sing-
"Charlie, I'm pregnant..." A wonderful song, filled with images and characters- bonus lyric-
"...buy me a used car lot, but l wouldn't sell any of 'em...
Just drive a different car every day, dependin' on how I feel."

Do You Wanna Dance- Dave Edmunds
This Welshman has tremendous talent and a chameleon-like abilty to shift between rockabilly, R&B,
and straight rock. In some ways, his cover tunes are better than the originals.

I just bought Phil Och's Tape from California, so I've been listening to that this evening. Good old Vietnam-era folk radicalism.

I've also been listening to The Black Keys' Thickfreakness. I'm big into music with a heavy blues edge to it, and The Black Keys deliver. It starts fast and heavy and lively and then becomes something almost meditative. Here's the title track. And here's maybe the liveliest track.

I'm listening to Isis' Panopticon album. It is my favourite one by them, probably because it was the first Isis album I got. tongue.gif

I'm currently fascinated with music with a Balkan influence and so am listening to Balkan Beat Box. I think the band was started by a former member of Gogol Bordello and makes music that is just as crazy and cool, if not more. My favorite tracks are "Bulgarian Chicks" and "Adir Adirim" - those bulgarian chicks sure now how to sing!

Balkan Beat Box - Bulgarian Chicks video
Balkan Beat Box - Adir Adirim (JUST the music, not the vid!)

Yiiiiiiiiy!

Between the Buried and Me - Colors

I've been enjoying this a lot more than their previous stuff. I think it's the fact that each track seamlessly runs into the next that makes it that more interesting.

Haha Milanius - Blue Morning is about the only Placebo song I can stand at all! I always thought the rest was rather dull myself, but that's just me.

Monday's Random 5 out of Sunday's Random 10 (Because I'm at work and can't remember the other 5)

Stranded in the Jungle- The Cadets

Drifter's Escape- George Thorogood

Fade into You- Mazzy Starr

Crazy Arms- Chuck Berry

Should I Stay or Should I Go- The Clash

Yep- it's random, all right. But I enjoy lots of different styles, from Big Band to rockabilly, blues to (some) punk, bluegrass, etc. The only things I have trouble with are country (with a few exceptions), rap, and the bimbo (male or female) pop-tart "flavor of the day" offerings.

Fade into You- Mazzy Starr

Props for Mazzy Star, I though I was the only sod who listened that [not that I listen to them much].

Anyhow.

House of Pain - Same as it ever was LP - hard, darkened not-so-commercial rap from 90's. Brings back memories.
