"Prisons" by Eyes of Fire.

It is also my goal today to listen to Daylight Dies' CD, Dismantling Devotion, because it has been too long since I've listened to it and I'd really like to change that!

"Coma" by Guns N' Roses. This song is pure genius. It starts out with a pulse (like a heartbeat) and that theme pretty much stays throughout the entire song. The main riff is also centered around the pulse, giving it a real 'coma'-ish feel. I think I read somewhere that Slash thought of the riff while in a 3-day coma. Anyway, the song is a true epic, fit to sit alongside songs like Metallica's "One".

I will admit that a lot of Guns N' Roses is garbage, but they do have a lot of great work as well. (Most of it being on Use Your Illusion I)

nine inch nails - The Collector

I have listened to NIN's "Year Zero" album and I can't say I'm impressed. While "With teeth" focuses mainly on the individual and it's inner debate, YZ is a concept album describing events from the dystopian future... it somehow doesn't appear as energetic or interesting as WITH TEETH to me. Just my 2 cents, mind you.

'Five Magics' by Megadeth, off of their (greatest) album Rust in Peace. The lyrics describe a man who masters (yep! you guessed it!) five magics in order to overthrow a dictator (who has already mastered said magics) only to find that the power corrupted him as well. It's just an overall cool song. Great lyrics, original sound...

I'm listening to Svartsot, a folk metal band from Denmark, really catchy stuff and they don't overdue the cheesiness like other bands of their ilk. That's probably because they bring a bit more death metal to their sound than black metal. It's basically like listening to Amon Amarth but with some cool folkish flutes/pipes/woodwinds playing in the background.

Good drinking music anyways!

Damien Rice - The blower's daughter

Um indifferent.gif don't ask... the tune is nice, though. Mellow.

Nothing wrong with Damien Rice. Different music for different moods--entirely appropriate.

Still listening to Feist. If we're talking mellow, with some romantic-style cheese thrown in, can't do much better than "Limit To Your Love".

Also been listening to Cold War Kids, who are sort of alt/indie. More fun than straight indie, whatever the hell that is.

Now I'm listening to Vietnam. Not the war, but the 60s-ish psychedelic rock band from Brooklyn. They're not from the 60s--they just look and kind of sound like it. Actually a pretty new band.

Hmm. "Energetic" and "dystopian" are pretty much opposites. Dystopian anything is supposed to be gloomy and depressing, so why in the world are you expecting it to be "energetic?" That contradicts the whole purpose of "I'll FORCE you to look at the way the United States will be in the future, and o my brother it ain't good."

Perfect album to listen to when I finally get to writing my book. I guess after reading so many dystopian novels in my English course, and reading A Clockwork Orange, I'm in the mood for something dystopian. It's just been my whole mindset since the beginning of the school. Don't just call me a pessimist, try and read between the lines.

Year Zero also had an awesome... whatdya call em. An alternate reality game. Those are pretty cool, if incredibly intricate and involved.

Heh... eventually some of the sheep would stop drinking tap water, which would effectively cut them off that numbing drug. Once they're awake they can see for themselves in what kind of [censored]hole they're living. Sometime during the awakening process rage should kick in, and with it the energy and drive to change some things.
More probably, they'd get killed trying to change things, but eh, whatcha gonna do?

Speaking of rage:
Sepultura - Riotstarter [Dark Ages LP]

The beginning of song, with those funky Brazilian instruments, is awelicious*

*for those who don't know it, awelicious = awesome + delicious

Was listening to "Aenima" by Tool.

Song was making me feel better. Describes how I feel most of the time now, except instead of Los Angeles it's the entire [self-censored] state of Oklahoma.

Scratch that, the world. Sorry if hating the way the world treats me gets you down. My [censored] bad for having the world [censored] hating my damn guts for no particular reason.

Right now I'm listening to Hurt's "Vol. II" album. Really good stuff though I miss the violin, the band basically got more creative with the guitar and extremely lowered the amount of violin used. Ohwell, I still have a feeling this album will hit my overall Top 10 this year.
