I stop by here now and then. I just tend not to say anything.

I've been stuck offline. I'm sort of online now though the connection is dreadful and it's through a 12" monitor which is older than me and has a broken red cathode so distorts colour horrifically. So not a joy to use.

I've just moved house (by bicycle, this was unwise) but the internet is yet to catch up (I'm with my parents until the 29th so using their's just now). Then I'm going to be away a lot, cycling up North, then canoeing, more cycling, and probably off to Ukrane or perhaps Algeria for August. So I'll be intermittantly passing though but not really on much until september when uni starts again. I've always seen the internet as more of a winter passtime.

I check into this forum as well as #chorrol chatroom nearly every day, but most of the time I'm too apathetic to talk. Not even bad mood anymore, just 'meh' and then I stare at the feet again.

Yeah I stopped using the chatroom long ago, usually nobody there.

I don't stop by here as often as I used to. I get notifications if any of my favorite stories are updated, but even then sometimes I just read the email rather than coming over here to read and comment. My summer is a bit weird; I'm teaching a Saturday course in Anatomy and Physiology, which takes a lot of prep time and means getting up at 5:30 on Saturday mornings. Sometimes I think I dislike being in class at 8 am as much as my students do! We got finished a little earlier today than usual, but I needed to hang around for a bit, so I figured I'd stop on by here. I've read a bunch of stories today, but because I'm brain dead from the mind-numbing lecture (that I gave!) on the bones of the skull, I didn't have any great comments to post. Thanks again to all those who take the time to share their stories with us.

One of those disappointing discoveries that comes with getting older- teachers/professors have to work AT LEAST as hard as the students- especially if they really care about the material. Of course, the students generally only see the 3 hours a week of classroom time, not the amount spent preparing, reading and distilling.

I can't really say why I have been less active- I check in every day, just have little to say....

Some forums just naturally sort of ...fade away.

But whether or not that happens really is dependent on us, and the amount of interest we maintain in this place.

I tend to check in hre at least once a day... I just rarely have anything to say.

Alhough one thing I have to say now is that I got the results from my exams the other day, and successfully passed, and so at the end of september I'll be entering my 3rd year of university biggrin.gif

Bones of the skull... hey, um.

IPB Image

Okay... This is a bit random to be asking of someone I don't really know over the internet, but hey. Whatever, right? wink.gif

So, the higher mark there on that skull (provided by Wikipedia) is approximately where on my head there's this... flat spot, where it feels like one 'plate' slides under another, leaving this bump. It's sore sometimes and it doesn't really fit with the picture on the spot where the pieces are supposed to fit together, always creeped out a bit by it.

And the second red mark (probably a bit lower on the skull in real life) is where I can feel... a 'bundle.' It's like this bump of sensitive something. It's harder than skin/muscle but it's not bone, and it usually hurts when I rest my head on it even for a second. It's only on the left side though, there's no mirror of it on the right.

Am I entirely screwed up head-wise or is this just normal and I'm paranoid? blink.gif

Alright, enough talk of inactivity. For the first time since February I've posted an update to The Dark Operation. So there---trying to resume my normal level of activity best as I can.

Thinking of driving up to Great Basin National Park in Nevada for 4th of July weekend.

I didn't mention. The exams were in Geology, Geography and Biology (I started out in a general Science course) but if I get my first choice, I'll be doing Geology on its own next year.

In other news, I found out today that on Wednesday I leave for England for a job interview on Friday.

Good job, Wolfie! Geologists know what rocks. Sorrry, couldn't help myself. My dad was a geologist...

Best of luck on the interview.

I was in the geology club in college, and was probably one course shy of a geology minor. [I was already a biology/environmental studies double-major, so I can't say I regret not taking on the additional workload.] But as I was starting to say and meant to say, we in the geo club had no end of bad puns. Gneiss chert, anyone?

I've heard most of the puns regarding Geology... and most of them are awesomely bad tongue.gif

And as regards the interview, it's actually next Friday now, so I don't fly out till next Thursday.

Good luck on your interview Wolfie hope all goes well.

Well I finally got my Oblivion disc back from a friend so I can play! Plus I can get all the dialogue I need for my DB fanfic. Oh and I bought an Evanescence cd so I've been listening to that obssessively smile.gif.

Ah, good to hear that you'll be working on that fic again. Stilted as I find much of the dialogue and plotting with the DB, it does allow for some excellent improvisational opportunities for those who wish to make it live a little more. Obviously having a character like Al helps my lot (he sometimes writes himself), but there are a lot of clever situations to build off of.

We've got a nice run of canine avatars in the Coffee Shop, now. I like it. Think I'll celebrate with a fine beer.
