We’ve had some storms, but Grits and family are fine. Not even any trees down. Shocking damage around us, but we can still walk down the street and get a latte and an ice cream cone. Tornados, hard to believe.

That's still pretty scary. I have nightmares about tornadoes sad.gif

The Wizard of Oz was on tonight, it may have been playing in the background while you slept, lol. That is where most of my "Blues Clues" nightmares came from, lol.

We had our weather Friday afternoon and evening. Watched a funnel cloud go right by us. It didn't touch down, so there was minimal damage. But nature's fury is an awesome thing to behold!

Ooh chicken pox :/ I remember it well. Two weeks of nothing but chicken noodle soup and grape juice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its a wonder I never got sick of it.

The only advice I can think of is absolutely no scratching. I heard oatmeal baths help soothe the itchiness, though I never had one myself. And get lots of rest.

And what do you mean again? Have you had it before?

Cool. An online coffee house, where I can go while I sip my coffee in the morning! Fun! happy.gif

griff11--What do you mean by again? Have you had chicken pox before? I thought you could only get it once. Either way, that would suck. I had them when I was five, so it wasn't so bad--I've heard it's a lot worse if you get it as an adult.... I'll second Jacki's advice about the oatmeal bath. Here's something else I found, that you might try:

chickenpox herbal remedies

It's a brief article that suggests using a bath tea made of St. John’s Wort, dried burdock root, and dried licorice root--you brew it and put it in the bath... Hope that helps. smile.gif

ROFL. Not the most exciting, I'll be honest, but it was still fun to watch--my favorite part was when Maxical was just standing there near the end, and suddenly M'aiq runs by! laugh.gif Just that brief appearance by one of the most beloved NPCs of all-time makes it quite amusing, honestly. And I like Maxical's armor--very nice. Also, how did you get that wolf in the one sequence not to attack?

I don't know what is causing that, it is not just that wolf but all wolves. (bandits and bears, too)

I thought it was my werewolf mod doing it because none of the werewolfs would attack her either, she was able to go live in the packs with them. But the mod is gone now (waaa) and the bandits, wolves, and bear still don't attack her. Everything else does attack though. I checked her factions, she isn't in any odd factions either. It is some kind of glitch, but I like it.

grif - if it's the second time you've had chickenpox it shouldn't be nearly as bad... Still if you're in Scotland I recommend irn bru, that stuff cures everything.

Grits - demanding houseguests are the worst kind. But a few seemingly innocent and massively unhelpful/sarcastic remarks can make anything bearable whistling.gif .

mALX - yay Maxical!

Not much news here. I revise. I sleep. Occasionally I read or watch some TV to break the monotony... I'm growing to dislike spring.

to answer everyones question, you usually get chicken pox once and then the immune system betters it for good.

People with weaker immune systems have a chance of catching the illness later on in life, but usually not as bad as someone of the same age who hasnt had it before.

also, thanks syl for that article, going to try that bath tea tonight.

mALX - not the worst video ive seen, especially for a first video.

My grandmother got shingles a few years back, which is apparently what they call chickenpox for the elderly. I think she was even hospitalized for it because it was so severe...

Glad you liked the article--let us know if it helps. Eventually I would imagine one or both of my kids will end up with the pox at some point, so it's something I'll remember if the time comes...

Chicken Pox is one of those diseases that increases in intensity the older you get. It's best to catch it young, because once you do get it, you usually won't catch it again.

I've already had it, myself, so I'm pretty much safe at this point.

I had shingles- maybe a year ago? And it took a while for the visible signs to manifest, so we did not know what was happening.

Mostly, I just felt tired and awful and was running a fever- especially at night. It spiked at 102- which is pretty high for an adult. The worst was the point at which it seemed like a really good thing to just lie on the tile floor and alternately shiver and perspire.

So- anyone suffering late-onset chicken pox- or shingles... you have my sincere sympathy.

In the old days parents used to have parties when their child had chicken pox to expose all the children at once and get it out of the way - "Chicken Pox Party!! Bring your child and get it exposed!!"

Now we find out it comes back when you are adult? GAAAAH !!!

I remember my brother and I catching it when I was five and he was three. Most of the other kids in the neighborhood were subsequently exposed and infected. One of my brother's friends, however, just didn't seem to be able to catch it. It took his mother weeks of effort before he came down with the condition.

My other friend got the vaccine. He laughs hysterically about this every time somebody brings up Chicken Pox when we're both present.
