Here's a poem I wrote about - well, I'll see if you can figure it out. It's called "Epoch." I pretty much just wrote it in my spare time. Most of the second stanza is pretty much lifted from Poe, but I liked it because it fit.
Sure as King Harvest he is coming To thresh, to purge, to burn, to drench, to destroy, to create To shatter the leaden deadbolt on heaven's gate And unleash the hounds of hell that they may run free
He rides a painted horse, whose name is Chronos And whose colors shift day to day And his face is not of Christ, Nor of Mohammed, Nor of Buddha, Nor of Zeus and his kin Nor of any Hindu or Egyptian god
Instead his countenance is legion And forms anew with every change of season His eyes are an abyss, Dark, swirling pits of terror and rapture
Should you see him on the road, make way Bid that he continue upon his path unmolested Always moving; shiftless, glacial A host of men and beasts of Earth in his thrall Harpies without wings or claws
If you do not see him, And he has come for you, Do not despair Nor resist his coming Inevitably he will come, and when he is finished Your broken body shall be tossed aside Old parts devoured; new ones grafted on
"Leave the heart," he says "Carve it into a new shape That it may beat anew, The rest you may take And do with it what you will"
You lie there - helpless, natal As all that you once thought immutable Shrinks to dust before unshut eyes
You cannot watch. You cannot help but see. You are terrified. And yet you laugh.
For what is laughter but a scream interrupted By fits and coughs of knowledge of one's own absurdity? Fleeting expressions of what you feel When encountered with the unexpected
Things which you could never have dreamed of Are dispensed to you freely every day Imagination exceeding that of any man Incalculable; better than perfect
So fear not laughter And fear not fear And welcome that which in its passing Brings them near

I'm feeling sad right now so here's a few of mine.
Goodbye Forever
She says goodbye Her soul is about to die She heart is breaking She feels it aching Now, a year late He doesnt feel hate But she doesnt listen She has already said goodbye Forever
The World is Dark Again
Guardian angels Come and go it seems Glittering bright jewels Happiness balances on a beam Suddenly they disappear And the world is dark again
Teenager's Wish
If tomorrow morning Youre still only a friend I guess Ill have to stay up, Until 11:11 again

The Homeward Turn During summer vacations, I rode my bicycle around our circular gravel drive For hours at a time, filling the long days with epic journeys that always Found me safely back at my door I stayed in the tracks worn by cars, avoiding the loose rocks in the center Except to occasionally cross to the other side I joyously splashed through the puddles, leaving a single a track That would only last for another circuit or two And so I rolled in constant loops, a quarter-mile at a time, noting the familiar The slight rise just beyond the garage, The scent of pine needles and of red clay dust The first turn, where going straight would mean Launching myself down the long hill that would carry me to wider, wilder roads So I always made the homeward turn, until I was grown and moved away And when my father died and we came to stay with Mother for a time, I brought my new bicycle and circled the drive Trying to turn back the clock to some earlier summer Much was changed- the gravel was pavement, my old bicycle gone- Along with the muscle tone of my legs But the trees abide, as the Earth abides, Spinning forever around its long circle. 11/24-11/28/08

This is something my friend Caitlyn wrote for me. I thought it was good and posted it for her.
The deathly hollow, no sound emanates, 'cept The shrill cry of sparrosong. A man wearing wrinkled skin appears in the foggy mist. Whispered articulations escape his defiled lips and he said: "The tree, the ancient tree, worn and tire'd through the years. Go there quick and swift, fly to the elderly maple." You wander far and wide, Legs moving elegantly, But no tree could be found. Then, by meer luck you stumble Upon a sapling. Bent low you stare at the engraved words In the stonewalled bark. You wonder how such young life could be so ancient as you look It read: "The wind that whispers, the earth that binds, The love you cherish, The feeling's divine. I am dubbed Sylencin, The laugh of the child, The quiet of the swamp. I wane to the moon's desire, And I cry to the sun's glare I am like the fire that no touch would dare."

The Moonwalker
I walk in the shadows, I stare at the moon, I watch the stars,
I am the shadow in the night, The creature of the void, You've seen me before, You'll see me again,
I am immune to your beatings, Impervious to your traps, Invulnerable to your guns, Yet, your tears are like poison,
I walk in the shadows of the ebon night, I bathe in the freezing chill of the dusk, I watch the darkness corrupt people,
I have protected the weak, Attacked the wicked, Yet, your tears always bring me down,
I know your name, I know your story, I know your life, I have empathy for all, but not as much as for you,
Your tears are like Nightshade, Your eyes are like sparkling gems, Your skin is pristine,
I've seen you fall, I've seen you rise again, I've watched you destroy the shadows, I've watched you embrace the darkness,
Yet, your tears are my bane, Your anguish is my terror, You're are my hero, When you're glum, I am too,
I'll never leave, Because you are one of my dearest friends, I'll be alive long after you, yet I'll always remember, I am the Moonwalker, Eternal,
However, I will always remember, My closest friends, Which I count you amongst...
Tears of a Champion
I take a beating, I show no pain or woe, I am stunned by a powerful punch to the skull, I show no pain or woe,
I watch you cry, Tears burn my face as they roll down, Your's burn my very soul like acid on flesh,
I watch you in depression, I feel a weight around my soul, It drags me down into a dark abyss,
I am here to listen, I always will be, Yet whenever you're sad, So will my anguish,
Whenever I watch you suffer, I show no rage, no woe, I am slowly eaten away internally,
I have watched death, I have been in it's icy grip, I have been in what should've been a watery grave, I am here, but still weakened by your emotion,
I will always be here, Eternally...
The Raven and the Eagle
I hate you, I hate you so direly, You soar the skies and are praised for your beautiful coat of feathers, I wish I could watch you die, But if anyone ever hurt you, I'd watch them die a thousand deaths before they succumbed to the true death,
I hate you, I'd love to watch every feather you have be ripped out, one-by-one, However, I could never bare to let it come to you, For if anyone did, I'd rip their eyes out,
To them, you're a divine creature, To them, I am the Harbinger of Hell, I hate you, in ways you can't even fathom, I'd love to watch your talons ripped out, to see the look of anguish, but to the fool who dares, my talons await,
I'd love to watch you burn in the pits of Hell, I'd love to see you suffer, But I'd always trade places, I will hate you until time stops and all is naught,
I'll always want to kill you, Brother, But I'll always be ready to kill anyone who harms you, My soul is divided, As it always will be, One part will always wish to see your flesh draped on hooks, One part will always be there to protect you, Forever my soul shall fight an eternal war, Forever I shall wait for one side to win and peace to come, But it'll never come, Brother,
You'll always be safe from my talons, Even if I wish to use them to tear you to shreds, I'll never be able to kill you, no matter how much I wish it, Brother, I love you, but one day I hope I can finally shed the blood, That gives you life, But I'll never do it, For my internal struggle is eternal...

Some really amazing poems here, though I've only had time to read about half on them. Anyway's, I figured I'd contribute with a poem of my own. Actually, it's the only writing that I've ever gotten published. Wrote it specifically for the school yearbook last year. ^^
The four seasons:
Winter, spring, summer and autumn Together they make a year
The winter preserves it all, keeps it in place so that no harm may come It gives us time to sit by the fire, think of what we've done
The spring brings warmth again, helps the cold to release it's grasp The spring is a season of love, to find new friends of this world
The summer lights up it all, it shoves all the bad things away For us to rest on the warm sandy beach, for the sun to color us red it brings to us the good things in life
The autumn is when we go back to school, when we take strength from the good times we've had It is dark and cold for the winter is close, and we light candles in our homes It prepares us for that which is about to come

Someone said once, here on chorrol, that every one of your characters need to be your best friend when you write. I think it might've been Treydog, but I can't for the life of me find the exact post. However, I made Felisa my best friend, which is why I needed to write this. I've needed to get this out of my head for quite some time, and yesterday I finally found the words. And so, this is what I'd say to her if we ever met. I haven't given it any name, since I don't know what to call it.
Scream into the northern wind, Stare into the frozen lake. He wrapped a hand around your heart, It remained when his breath waned.
You sit upon a broken stone. When your friends laugh, You wonder how. Will the pain ever pass?
You think of yesterday, You mourn tomorrow. The yesterday that can't be changed, The tomorrow that will never be.
If your hours ran out, I wonder what you'd do. Would you fight until the end, Or welcome his embrace?
Follow your heart, Don't let it go dark. Despite what they think, You're not the devil's spawn.
Ask Sithis for another day. Don't look back. You wouldn't be you, If you hadn't met him.
So don't wish that you never did.

treydog: I'm glad I was able to convey those feelings. Thank you.
I was just looking through my documents and found another poem. I don't remember when I wrote it, but I switched some words that didn't fit and think it's good enough to post now.
Your immortality
I once heard tales, of your immortality. I once saw, you strike down a god. A javelin of fire and smoke, they said of you.
Bowstrings ring, hearts no longer beat. Drums with quick beats, love without passion. Shining steel reflects the sun, headless bodies litter the ground. All because, of your immortality.
Because of your invalidity, we lost all. The heart that beat, cracked in half. Bowstrings cut, Drums without hides. Studded steel fall from limp hands, enemies new emerge through the grass. You tricked us once though never more, for it never was your immortality.

Night Of The Hunter
As I stand in the cold of night, With the breeze against my face, As darkness ensnares the land, As the full moon rises above the mountains, And the star-filled sky watches the earth, The primal instinct of a beast takes over, The urge to hunt, The urge to run, The urge give in to the power of the full moon, The hunter is me, I am the hunter, The moon and the sun, The symbols of my two sides. One the hunter, On the host, And as darkness ensnares the land, And the full moon rises over the mountains, And the star-filled sky looks down upon earth, The night of the hunter begins. The prey fear me For I am the hunter, And the hunter is me. The prey run and hide, They lock their doors, They close their windows, They hold their children close, In hopes that the hunter, That I, Don't choose them as the prey, On the night if the hunter. The guards prepare to defend, I prepare to hunt, With supernatural strength and speed, Nobody can escape me, On the night of the hunter.
I'm such a bad poet.
