I finished Metro a few days ago and it was good, though the ending was bizarre. After spending who knows how long traveling the tunnels with various companions and nearly dying several times, the story is turned on its head right at the end and left me thinking 'what, that's it?'

I've now moved from Russia to Poland with The Time of Contempt by Andrzej Sapkowski. I've read the previous Witcher books, so I have a pretty good idea what this will be like.

I've read all the Witcher books, got them as fan-made ebook translations from the forum for the games. I'm not a huge fan of them. The Last Wish and The Sword of Destiny are easily my favourites, love those two. The others are a bit over the top in my opinion. I'm really not a fan of some of the characters, particularly the female ones, they just seem a bit flat for the most part.

I'm currently reading Old Habits Die Hard Part Four.

Loving it.smile.gif

A Game of Thrones.

Got it for Kndle ages ago, finally got around to starting it last night.

Currently a little over 360 pages in.

Bloody good book so far.

Edit: Finished it, now onto A Song of Ice and Fire, book 2: A Clash of Kings.

Just re-read Arthur C. Clarke's "The Deep Range" - cowboys in submarines, herding whales - written in 1957, but remarkably current in many ways.

I confess I was only reading because I had no power, and couldn't play TES. biggrin.gif

I'm currently reading a Warhammer 40K novel, the fourth in a series, and Old Habits Die Hard Part Six.

Now reading:

Gaunt's Ghosts: The Founding.

I'm on a Warhammer 40K binge at the moment when it comes to reading.

Priests of Mars. Brilliant book, aside from some canonical inconsistencies. (It's Holy Terra, not Old Earth, how do you even know this?!)

I think it depends what point in time it's referencing. If it's talking pre-Emperor then it'd be Old Earth, if it's after the start of the Crusade then yeah, it's a screw-up.

And if it's Mechanicum then it's entirely possible that they consider nothing but Mars holy. The whole Emperor-is-the-Omnissiah thing is still up for debate.

Heh, I used to be a massive fan of WH40K. Fell out of it for a few years, and basically can't afford to get back into it. Between that and their shenanigans with their books I'm pretty much done with them. I still read what I've got, but I'm not gonna buy any more of them.

I've got enough of their damned books as it is laugh.gif
