You are calling me insecure then? I like them, to me they look cool, and oh, is a HYBRID SUV!?! (GASP) A horrible gas guzzler!?!
Calm.
Because it looks nice is the worst excuse I've heard.
Form = function
Form is function
I think they look ugly as sin, but that's because I see their function completely differently.
And no, that's not a very good analogy. Rich people does not mean someone is trying to make up for something. They're rich, what do they have to make up for? personally, I think only insecure people would drive such an ugly, gas-guzzling rig.
DoomedOne, you may look at things that way, but do others? They may simply find these things cool (I have no idea what car you are talking about) because of what they define as cool or whatever. Don't assume these things, there are many viewpoints, and none of them are wrong or right. They are simply viewpoints.

Oozae. I understand that complete.y All these posts, they're my viewpoints. Never do I state, "and you should think this as well."
Also, Chumbaniya that's a perfect description. They have over-zealous horse power, one quarter the usefulness of the pick-up truck and (!!!) some of them can seat 7 adult passengers or something.
Also, if you trade in your family SUV or a hybrid one channler, then I won't say you're a gas guzzeler.
By they way Channler. Everyone in the world can buy whatever car they want. Some countries lay down reasonable restrictions on what kind of cars you can own, the same way we have reasonable restrictions on freedom (for isntance you can persue happiness, but not to the point where you harm other people.) Just a matter of time before we get the same restrictions on cars.

With the what?
Um, I have a new topic
The Bush administration, over the nest few months, will be pushing for less restrictions oin pollution, deforestation, and many more. he has already pushed "healthy forest act" which is a new-speak act in which restrictions on deforestation were lessened, and a clean air act, in which pollution restrictions were lowered. That was in his first year of office, but it gets worse.
Partnered, I repeat, partnered, with several large corporations including ExxonMobile, the administration is setting
Absolutely no restrictions on logging in all 155 of the United States' natural forests. Animals like the gray wolf, red wolf, cheeta, grizzly and leopard could vanish from the United States.
Much fewer restrictions on plants that exhaust mercury into the air. Note that mercury is a toxin that does not leave the system. So let's take a look at our food chain. Heavy amounts of mercury enter out atmosphere, and the rain down into lakes and oceans. Plant life feeds off mercury rich soil, water life feeds off mercury rich water, then grazing animals consume the mercury so that it builds up within them. Not, it would not be a lethal amount. They could not consume enough mercury to harm them. However, they are then hunted by predators. It builds up in the predators much for dangrously, because every ounce of mercury in every animals they ate builds up in them. The same is true of pesticides, and many other toxins.

I'm definitely all for reasonable restrictions on cars. Obviously Channler has a point about being free to buy what he wants, but only up to a point. I think there should be restrictions on cars that use up unreasonable amounts of fuel and cause large amounts of pollution.
The problem is, we've already seen that the American Government has no regard at all for the environment *cough* KYOTO TREATY *cough*.

Seriously, what are people thinking when they pass these kinds of laws?

The same thing protesters think when they start complaining about things, "This won't work but we'll do it anyway."

Pretty acurate depiction on war. The enemy doesn't see you as the big heroes, they see you as the enemy. Plus, the invaders in the movies drive huge war machines that kill the o-zone, thus killing themselves in a race for supremacy.

Just another way of making people hate the decision to go to war.
