I haven't watched a full length movie in ever so long. When my hearing deteriorated to the point where listening to "most" types of music is no longer a pleasant experience my interest in film took a nosedive. Makes sense, I suppose. A flim's music score and sound-effects track were always of major importance to me. I think that's one of the things that drew me to silent films. With those, music is especially critical, though you wouldn't guess it by the inadequate scores accompanying too many "modern" silent film release.

I've been thinking of the film Airplane these past several days. For me, much of its comedy holds up very well. I got to wondering if this is the case for younger folk. A large part of its appeal is in the casting of actors who, up until Airplane, were know strictly for "straight" roles in "serious" films and TV shows. Too, there is a lot of parody on then-iconic TV commercials and the like. Do youngsters see the movie and "get it"? Or is it just another dated period comedy for you?

Khajiit likes Metropolis and Nosferatu in silent films. He has also been meaning to watch The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, but hasn't gotten around to it.

This one has never seen Airplane but he knows the famous line ("...and don't call me Shirley!"). laugh.gif

I generally dislike what I consider slapstick. No tolerance for the Three Stooges and such. That said and, uncharacteristically for me, I quite enjoy the movie Airplane. For some reason, its humor does strike a chord with me when most movies of that genre (Police Squad, Blazing Saddles) don't do anything for me. That said, my age precludes me from speaking for the younger crowd.

Somewhat similarly, I dislike musicals. With one exception that I adore: My Fair Lady. A mystery as to why I love that movie but I have, since it first came out 1964.

The last full movie I saw was Maleficent, based on a recommendation from SubRosa. And I very much enjoyed that.

Ninja'd, darn it! That is one of my favorite lines in the film! I do love the Airplane movies; and don't even care if they are slapstick, lol. Leslie Nielsen just makes anything he is in funny! I can start laughing just seeing his name in the cast!

I watched season 1 of Castlevania on Netflix. It was really good. The voice acting is stellar. Richard Armitage is awesome as the protagonist, a vampire-hunter who has fallen on hard times. Graham McTavish is great as Dracula, and even Baltar from Galactica 2.0 lends his voice to Son-Of-Dracula Alucard.

My only disappointment is that it is really short. Just 4 episodes, and those are only 20 minutes each. The way it ends is not really the ending though. It feels more like the first season is just the prologue. I am hoping that it will get another season or two of twenty-some episodes each.

There will be a second season of 8 episodes. Not as many as I would have liked, but a good start. If they keep up the same quality, I am sure there will be plenty more.

You know, a Castlevania game is in Khajiit's top 3 games of all time. Really looking forward to watching this series!

Watched all four episodes of Castlevania on Netflix. Was just a bit disappointed they didn't include some reprises or remixes of classic Castlevania tunes (which are still fresh in Khajiit's mind since he plays through Super Castlevania IV at least once a year), like Bloody Tears (there was even a scene that would've been perfect for this!), or Vampire Hunter. Otherwise, Khajiit is definitely looking forward to more!

I watched Catwoman yesterday. It was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. In the beginning it was actually pretty fun. But it kind of loses its charm by the middle, and gets pretty meh. I did love the homage to Michelle Pfieffer, in a scene where the wise old cat lady has some pictures and drawings of past Catwomen, and Michelle Pfieffer was there in her Catwoman outfit.

Now I am in the mood to watch the Michael Keaton Batman movies.

Michelle Pfieffer is my favorite Catwoman. Though I really like Camren Bicondova in Gotham. But she is like 10 in that, and not really Catwoman yet, so I don't think she really counts.

According to Wikipedia Catwoman was ranked 11th on IGN's "Top 100 Comic Book Villains of All Time" list, and 20th on their "Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All Time" list. biggrin.gif

Yeah, Khajiit really likes Selena in Gotham. She's a good actress. Really has the cat mannerisms nailed, right down to the "I act like I don't give a s*** but I really do" attitude!

I LOVE Airplane and Airplane 2. I have the Don't call me Shirley Airplane 1 and it has the "extended" version where it cuts to crew interviews and deleted scenes. One of my favorite scenes which they should have kept in was the couple where walking into the terminal when they see a friend of theirs and the guy turns to them and says "Oh hi Jack!" then gets tackled by Airport Security. The joke here is there's a sign in the background that say Hijacking is illegal thus Hi Jack/Hijack laugh.gif .

Oh joy I found the clip biggrin.gif .

I loved the whole cat resurrection scene that turned her into Catwoman, and how she literally had 9 lives.

Since its no tv Sunday (nothing's on) I've been watching a walkthrough of Doom 64. For some reason this game gets it right with doom in terms of music and eerieness even though it was on an old console.
