Both my dogs are purebred "Louisiana Catahoula Leopard" - they are technically a cur, but are a registered breed. They are not agressive dogs, but are VERY assertive, the owner better be the Alpha in the house. They are for hunting: Better scenting than a bloodhound Webbed feet for swimming Can and will climb trees to go after prey (I have a snapshot of one of Dixie's relatives 15 foot up in a tree at the field trials) They are also for herding: They are known for herding wild boar, but are just as happy with cattle, horses, sheep, people, etc. When you buy one they tell you it must be exercised HARD daily or it will eat your house - TRUE! Both my dogs get plenty of exercise, and yet my older dog has literally eaten a lawnmower and the sub floor of my house. Dixie has been eating a pine tree with her baby teeth. The cats are a feral colony we have been feeding and tending since the year 2000. We trap/spay/neutered them and then released them back into their territory. Without all the kittens the colony has dwindled down to just what you see in the pics (thank goodness!) - the one inside was a kitten from the matriarch's second litter. *********************** My new puppy Dixie: http://s434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Ma...nt=S6301720.jpghttp://s434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Ma...=S6301724-1.jpgMy one year old dog Cracker Jax: http://s434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Ma...nt=S6301678.jpgTHE Bocephus Possom - If you say he can't, he damn sure will! http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...b71413143f0.jpgMomma is the most feral of all the remaining colony http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...f922f2314d7.jpgSmokey - she prefers living with the dogs http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...c197dd63bac.jpgGoku. He looks small in the pic, but he's not! http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...ebebf194be5.jpgThis post has been edited by mALX: Sep 1 2010, 12:19 AM

Well some good news and bad news. Good News: I got a new Boston Terrier named Fathom. don't know why her last owners called her that but okay :/. And now the really bad news: Fathom came from people who ran a puppy mill that I didn't know about and mostly used her for breeding and probably had VERY, VERY little contact with other people and has been in a cage most of her life. NEVER get a dog from a puppy mill EVER and if you suspect someone running one, call the authorities. Now some more good news: I've been working my magic with her trying to basically rehabilitate her and mostly been hand feeding her dog food and giving her water through a syringe as she seems she can't drink out of a bowl like a normal dog can. Also her and my dog....BROOOOOSIE...get along very well and I think Fathom is watching Rosie on how to dog. Fathom will eventually get better but it's going to take some time to crack that shell. You are doing good work Reaps. Here’s hoping Fathom will come around.

Aw, she is adorable all curled up in her sweater! I am so glad you rescued her; and really hope you are able to reach back through her years of mistreatment and give her a happier life. Not sure if this will help you or not; but here is an article written by a vet who rescues puppy mill pets. I'll post it just in case it is any help at all: https://resources.bestfriends.org/article/p...ition-home-life

If it's she, and lives up that threat, then Ma'Licious would be delighted to have a namesake.

She now has a Belly Puppy . Omg, she is such a baby! I love her facial expressions when you snap her pic with the toys; like she has been caught with her hand paw in the cookies, lol.
