Both my dogs are purebred "Louisiana Catahoula Leopard" - they are technically a cur, but are a registered breed. They are not agressive dogs, but are VERY assertive, the owner better be the Alpha in the house. They are for hunting: Better scenting than a bloodhound Webbed feet for swimming Can and will climb trees to go after prey (I have a snapshot of one of Dixie's relatives 15 foot up in a tree at the field trials) They are also for herding: They are known for herding wild boar, but are just as happy with cattle, horses, sheep, people, etc. When you buy one they tell you it must be exercised HARD daily or it will eat your house - TRUE! Both my dogs get plenty of exercise, and yet my older dog has literally eaten a lawnmower and the sub floor of my house. Dixie has been eating a pine tree with her baby teeth. The cats are a feral colony we have been feeding and tending since the year 2000. We trap/spay/neutered them and then released them back into their territory. Without all the kittens the colony has dwindled down to just what you see in the pics (thank goodness!) - the one inside was a kitten from the matriarch's second litter. *********************** My new puppy Dixie: http://s434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Ma...nt=S6301720.jpghttp://s434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Ma...=S6301724-1.jpgMy one year old dog Cracker Jax: http://s434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Ma...nt=S6301678.jpgTHE Bocephus Possom - If you say he can't, he damn sure will! http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...b71413143f0.jpgMomma is the most feral of all the remaining colony http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...f922f2314d7.jpgSmokey - she prefers living with the dogs http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...c197dd63bac.jpgGoku. He looks small in the pic, but he's not! http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images0...ebebf194be5.jpgThis post has been edited by mALX: Sep 1 2010, 12:19 AM

QUOTE(ghastley @ May 13 2021, 06:03 PM) QUOTE(mALX @ May 13 2021, 12:03 PM) Okay; we are about to get a pet again finally; anyone want to suggest a name for this kitten? https://imgur.com/OAcfQuZWe don't know if it is a boy or girl yet; so that makes it a bit tricky, lol. If it's she, and lives up that threat, then Ma'Licious would be delighted to have a namesake. I have looked and looked = can't tell to save my life if it is a girl or boy. The lady that gave it to me knows cats, and she couldn't tell either; lol. I have been saying "She," but I'm notoriously wrong about these things so that probably means it is a male, lol. It is so cute with that splotch of orange on its head! The woman had one of its siblings with her and it was three times the size of mine; so I am pretty positive I got the runt of the litter. Mine is very tiny and still walks a bit weakly (more like a 4 week old kitten) but it climbs like a ring-tailed lemur (so I'm not worried about it having any issues). She/he is playful (with everything, not just the toys I bought it) but also likes cuddling. She has a good appetite; uses the litter box correctly (covers up her "tracks") but she cleans the litter from her feet after every step in there, it is really funny because she kind of tips over and falls when she lifts each foot to clean it, lol. She is way too small to get out of the bathroom and have exploration privileges in the rest of the house yet; and she can actually climb OUT of the litter box but is too small to climb INTO it yet. She hasn't had any accidents though; because she meows repeatedly when she needs to be lifted into the litter box. She is very vocal; but not actually loud about it. (my son's cat sounded like it was heralding the arrival of a king it was so loud, even as a kitten = it was hilarious!)

QUOTE(Acadian @ May 17 2021, 02:40 PM) Taz. Don't need no stinking gender to use it. That is a good one, Steve liked it too because it is also his "son's" (former step grandson's) nickname. Chelsea nixed it; I think she was born too late to appreciate Tasmanian Devils, lol. We still haven't settled on anything; but Taz is still in the running. I liked Boba Fett; but think it would have to be a boy for that. Chelsea likes Luna; but that would probably only work for a girl. We still can't tell the sex on this kitten; I swear it has to be some kind of anomaly. I held up the kitten in front of the pics on the internet and it didn't look like any of the males or females either one!!! If anything, I would say it looks like both male and female parts. Now, it is true that I have notoriously bad eyesight; but in my defense = the woman we got it from didn't know either; and she has good eyesight and knows cats a lot better than I do, lol.

What an adorable little fighter Aw, Thanks!!! It sure is both of those = cute and a wicked little fighter! It attacks our feet as we walk in the house, lol. It doesn't hurt; it more or less tickles; but with attitude, lol. It really needs a name, urgh. I can't take it to the Vet till June to have them tell me the sex of it. (if they can figure it out; I sure can't!)

QUOTE(Grits @ May 25 2021, 02:13 PM) S/he looks adorable, oh my goodness!
Thank you so much! I don't know if you mean the kitten or my new teenage daughter; but I think both are, lol. QUOTE(mirocu @ May 25 2021, 02:29 PM) You should notice a difference during spring, mALXie... Next spring? This one is all but over; summer is starting up in a week or so! Urgh; can't wait a year to name it! Lol.

Well, if it's due for a checkup or anything soon in the future you can take it up with them then, I guess. Otherwise I don't know It looks like it might be turning into a girl; but I'd really like a second opinion on that; lol. I plan to take it to the Vet in June; hopefully they will be able to tell me. I was just teasing you about the spring season; our spring season is ending; lol. She is most def a warrior; we all have wounded hands, arms, legs, and ankles to prove it, lol.
