Neith. I like her, she’s a hottie. I like her armor; I saw that one on Nexus and thought about getting it for Aravi. With the noble, I wondered if she was going to relieve that horse of its burden. That’s a neat looking dog. Aravi’s stray didn’t stay with her for very long as you might remember. She’s left Meeko in Breezehome with Lydia. A fox now? Do they fight like a dog or are they just for companionship? I love seeing her trading with all the Khajiit! What a funny video of the fish!

Acadian: The mounted combat in skyrim is not all that it is cracked up to be. As if aiming a bow in the forced third person view was not difficult enough, your arrow often does not go anywhere near your crosshairs. Sometimes it is spot on. Other times it goes off in any of the other possible directions. You can also only shoot in a roughly 45 degree arc in front of your horse. Anything beyond that, and you cannot hit them. Likewise with anything too high or too low. Plus, sometimes when you try to turn your horse, it goes in the opposite direction of the key you pressed. It makes mounted fighting a real challenge. But I am trying. King Coin: I like the Crimson Ranger Armor. It does not have a female version, but I think the male version looks fine on females. It was perfect for Neith. Neith was tempted to relieve that noble of his horse! The dogs to foxes mod only changes the meshes and textures of the dogs. Everything else is exactly the same, including the animations. Grits: I prefer the fox to the so-called husky/wolf too. A lot more friendly. Maybe I should name the horse Fisher King? I was thinking maybe Cyrus, but that could be the fox's name instead. Notice the resemblance? I made Ahlam a preset and used her as a base for NeithCooking up some vittlesWhere did their tents go?A sleazy little manNeith now has a Khajiit followerAn example of mounted archery

How funny, I never saw the resemblance to Ahlam, but there it is! Probably because Ahlam has such an unpleasant attitude, none of my characters has gotten to know her. Great job with the mounted archery! I never considered stopping the horse to shoot. Farkas wishes I had watched your video before Mikke got out her bow during a recent overencumbered ride to Wolf Lodge. Also I didn’t know you could loot from horseback. Cyrus the fox is adorable! I love how Neith and her horse (Fisher King? Kingfisher the Belmont Stakes winner? ) shared a look after the Hagraven fell. Neith does not look impressed by Belethor, and he does not look bothered by Neith. I dislike the sleazy little man, but I give him points for persistence in Jensa’s Stormcloak controlled Whiterun. The Girl’s character always knocks over stuff in his store. She’s going to love this picture. Cooking is my favorite. A great look at Neith’s beautiful face!

I originally tried shooting on the move (like a real horse archer would), but it is just insanely difficult. Besides the third person viewpoint, the problem is the controls. Your horse goes wherever you look, so it is always turning at whoever you shoot. The way it should be, is that the WASD keys would control the horse, and the mouse would control only the character. IIRC, that is how Mount and Blade does it, and it works very well. That way you could ride in one direction, and look and shoot in another. That would let you do a Parthian shot, and ride away from an enemy while shooting them.
Neith can loot from horseback because of a mod I am using. It also allows you to talk to people and harvest ingredients from horseback. Likewise, making the horse sprint does a charge attack to anyone the horse runs into. In the vanilla game those are all impossible.

Grits: I love Ahlam's conversations with Danica. There is one where Danica says: "Look on the bright side, if soldiers storm the city, there's a good chance your husband may get killed." and Ahlam replies: " Ha! Well, when you put it like that, it certainly puts things into perspective. But enough wallowing. And thank you, Danica."I am always knocking over those candlesticks in the middle of Belethor's store too! Why in Oblivion did he put them right between the door and the counter? Acadian: Neith is a no-magic character, so cooking is her only way to heal up. I have done a lot of it with her! That is Freya alright, enjoying her new bed. I think she has finally gotten over losing the old CRT monitor that used to sit there. That mod I am using makes the horses friendly to all factions, so critters do not attack them, and they do not attack everything they see. Otherwise it would have been getting in the way as soon as Neith got her feet on the ground! King Coin: The funny thing is the same day I took that pic of the tentless caravan, there was a discussion on the other forum about people finding their tents, but no Khajiit. Well, I know where they went to! That mod is Convenient Horses. It makes a lot of things work easier for a mounted character. I had an inspiration for a character the other day, and decided to roll with her. I even created a new race for her. Meet Flavia Domitilla Minor (she's real too, look her up Grits) Flavia is a RL Roman who found herself in Skyrim (rather than dying at 19 years of age). I am using a little leeway in her background, in that my Flavia was mostly raised by her father, who was Legate of an Imperial Legion at the time. So she learned more about gladii and lorica segmentata than knitting. To her, Skyrim looks just like Britannia or Germania, a barbarian cacat-hole. But she is loving the freedom her gender possesses. I plan to try doing the Imperial side of the civil war with her. Grits: That is Faendal in that pic. I do not think I did anything to his hair. I cannot remember exactly what his vanilla hair looked like though. I tweaked a lot of his stats so that he would be a better follower (every follower needs Light Foot!). Stormcloaks, Gauls, Germans, Britons, they are all barbarians, and they all die the same... Acadian: Flavia is one of my few black-haired characters. I was looking for an Italian look with her. Which I suppose is also an Imperial look... She is a challenge to play, as she is a no-magic character. So no healing spells. Reith was easier to do as a no-magic character, since she is an archer, and keeps at a distance. Plus she has that horse to move around quicker. Flavia is a close in slugger, so she takes a licking. She must have put on a hundred pounds from eating Apple Cabbage Stew in the last few days! It was only today that she used her first potion, and only out of desperation because all of her food was gone. She decided that healing potions were ok (and that they actually worked, she just assumed they were a bunch of hooey) and bought some from an alchemist. King Coin: I like the helm because it is authentic, down to the horizontal bar across the forehead. That was added during Trajan's campaigns in Dacia. The Dacians used a two-handed sword called the Falx, and their favorite move was a downward chop at the head. They were so strong they were splitting the Roman's heads in two, even with their helmets. So the Romans added that bar, and it was just enough to keep their noggin's in one piece. The one at the fence was my favorite pic too. It is a nice reflective moment, underscored by the fact that there is an elf standing right next to our real life Roman. The gladius was really overpowered in the mod I am using. It was set to do 20-something damage. So I modded it back down to the same stats as a steel sword. On the way to SoltudeFlavia stopped at the Dragon Bridge inn for the nightTwo warriorsFlavia was forced to adopt an usavory weapon at Robber's Gorge. Now she is thinking that she should hire some Syrian archers or Balearic slingers as auxiliaries to deal with these bandit archers. But as ever, it was the gladius that spoke lastThis post has been edited by SubRosa: Nov 3 2012, 01:08 AM

King Coin: I didn't even notice the clenched fist! And that was before Flavia asked Rikke about her thoughts on the Empire's ban of Talos worship... The interesting thing about playing Flavia is that it made me realize just how human-centric the beginning of the game is. The only non-humans you see during the entire tutorial at Helgen is Elenwen and her two bodyguards, and they are off in the distance so all you can really make out is their golden armor and yellow skin. From then on out Helgen is all round-ears though. So Flavia just took the 3 elves as being a trick of the light. It was not until she got to Riverwood and met Faendal that it started to sink in that she was not in Kansas anymore. It was in Embershard Mine that she saw her first Khajiit. Her reaction was WTF! Then she killed him, and her second reaction was WTF! As a general's daughter, Flavia grew up surrounded by people claiming to be magicians, astrologers, alchemists, etc... After all, back then no one dared put their pants on in the morning without first having their astrologer kill a goat to study its entrails to see what the portents were. Flavia is a good, somber, unimaginative Roman though, so she never put any stock into that silliness. So she put down potions and scrolls as nothing different. It was not until a bandit flamed her that she started to have second thoughts. Now she knows that magic is real in this strange place, which she puts down to being Ultima Thule. But it is not for her. She's a fine, upstanding Roman after all. Good steel is all she will ever need. All that sorcery business is just effete and cowardly, the kind of thing you would expect from a Greek. Grits: I have not seen the vanilla Faendal in so long I cannot remember what he looked like! So he had that wood elf ponytail? That always looks like something only a teenager should wear. It looks too young. That is probably why I changed it. I gave her a bumpy nose. I do not think I have ever used that one before. I thought it would look more Italian. Acadian: I tried to make her Roman looking. I also widened her jaw, to give it a more lantern, classic hero kind of look. Grits: As a Roman, Flavia is a firm believer in fighting fire with fire. She could see that she needed to have a hired spell on her side, to deal with all these Greekling mages roaming around. Mecrutio was indeed an easy one to pick up, as at least his ears are round, and he has a Roman look to him. Come to think of it though, are there any other pure mage mercenaries you can hire? I know there is Areana, but you have to do the Azura's Star quest to get her as a follower. You cannot just hire her like a regular merc. Apparently Talen-Jei is irrestable. I guess once you've had scales, you never go back! Or maybe it is after having a few of those special drinks he makes, anything looks good? Those extra people in the tavern were added by me as trainers. One thing that always disappointed me about Skyrim was how few trainers there are compared to Oblivion. So I added more to all the major cities. I put most of them in the inns, to make them look more lively. As you said, most of them seem too empty. Acadian: I like Flavia's regular helmet better too. So she gave that other one to General Tullius. I guess Talen-Jei is a true Leisure Suit Larry. I don't think the giant was impressed by Flavia's extra... stature. It is always exciting to have Mecrutio as a followerWho will strike first?Among the shadowsInto the lightThis elk made the ultimate sacrifice to protect WhiterunPlannng the next move. This post has been edited by SubRosa: Nov 6 2012, 04:23 AM
