QUOTE(Lady Saga @ Aug 30 2012, 06:39 PM)
I would not be opposed to taxes. Back in my tabletop days (DnD, TFT, etc.) we actually did incorporate taxation rules, along with all sorts of other things like feudalism, into our gameplay. I doubt this will ever happen in vanilla TES, but I am digging the fact that we must use materials to build the house. That it doesn't just show up because we throw some gold around.
It would indeed be awesome for the immersion! But I am sure many people would whine that the ES is looking more like the Sims, but the fact is that its an RPG means Bethesda can add as much immersion as they want. I like the materials we get to use too! It is going to be fun . . . if they even release it for the PS3. Gstaff in the official forums said they aren't sure if Dawnguard will make it to the PS3 . . now my dark fantasies are ruined! RUINED! Anyways, I wonder what the next DLC will be. So far everything in the DLC and patches have been seen in Game Jam. Gamejam content that made it into the game:Mounted Combat. Kill-cams with archery and spells. New Mounts(Arvak) Underwater graphics. Water currents in dungeons(Dawnguard) Vampire Lords New Vampire feeding animation. Lycanthropy Perk Tree Wayshrines(Dawnguard) Kinetic Shouts Ice and fire arrows(Dawnguard adds explosive fire bolts) So, I wonder what will be added next. The only way I see Bethesda adding spears is if they add werebears. Anyone read the Infernal City where half-naked Nordic werebears hunted people down with spears in the Hunting Grounds? I see Bethesda honoring that with adding the Hunting Grounds as a new realm and werebears as a new faction. Honestly, I think they should drop the werebear stuff and focus on other things such as the Thalmor, and the Psijiic Order and etc. Then leave werebears for last and truly focus their time and effort to make that "Hunter's DLC" the best one! Imagine the Hunting Grounds the size of the Shivering Isles?! A true expansion! Oh man! I feel like going outside and hunting!

Thanks! I appreciate the links, and no, I did not click on them. I'm good at avoiding spoilers, though. If I start to read something that seems even remotely spoiler-ish, my eyes automatically blur or avert. I have a feeling "Gstaff" is not a single person, it is a series of underlings forced to provide occasional info to the public. I read something just yesterday where Gstaff showed up in the Bethsoft PS3 forum. "He" had no idea Europe uses a different system of update classifications then America does. In effect, if we get Update 1.07 in the U.S., it will be 2.03 (something like that) in Europe for whatever reason. This post has been edited by Lady Saga: Sep 1 2012, 02:34 PM

I'm betting that the house's layout will be predetermined with the ability to customise by room. Basically what I think is that it will be designed already and that you can just change minor details.
Either way I will be buying it. Looks like Bethsoft is finally getting an idea of the kind of things their fans want.

Well, it's a bit more rigid than that. You can choose what rooms you want, but the placement of furniture and walls and such is all pre-determined. The only choice you really have is "armory, library, or kitchen?"
But this also isn't the Sims, and considering just how fragile this engine is, it's probably a good thing Bethesda didn't try to go overboard with this DLC. They just added some spice to the pre-existing home mechanic here, is all, and considering the price, I wasn't really expecting anything more.
I'll be getting it for PC when it arrives, mostly because I look forward to the modding potential it will bring with it. Should be interesting to see what the modders do with this one, and I look forward to tinkering.

I'm holding off work on one of mine just to see what I can do with the Hearthfire stuff.

Fun enough for $5. It gives you a much larger place to settle down than any of the other houses available. There isn't much customisation but the fact that it is a fairly large building with the ability to move your family (including a couple of kids) in and bring a pet there.
The locations for the buildings are also pretty sweet spots and the mechanic that you use to build your home keep you busy for a while so it is good.
All in all I'm pretty happy I bought it.
