Not until she's been violent physically. And then only when she's been violent AGAIN can I issue a restraining order. But since everything documented is benign, what would they do? They'll just tell me to call them when she's hurt me.

Try the 4th Circuit Court instead of the Criminal Court. And go through a Court Advocate if you can, they usually know a few loops to slide you through the process and around those kind of restrictions - especially if you are being stalked. You might be able to get an ex parte order, but make sure they attach a Chinese Wall to it.

No, it has to be that way, or Liz would be the one that's subject to the restraining order. Because people that weird will tell the cops you're stalking them.

But it means that it's basically legal to stalk someone provided you're not violent.

If she has written letters, then you have proof she is doing it. Keep those letters for future reference if she keeps up the harassment, every bit of documentation helps in a court of law.

Several. I collect knives and we have a gun cabinet. She isn't threatening me, though. I cut our friendship off after she began calling the police on our roommate we had after her and abusing them emotionally and physically. (we didn't find out about the abuse until after they had broken up and she stayed with her friend and he stayed with us)

She started coming to our apartment and just waiting. Not doing anything. Sometimes we disnt even know she was there until our roommate came inside and was like "Uh, y'all know she's here, right?"

We moved like three months after that and I switched jobs AND stopped working at the new job. She showed up to my husband's last show with his band and left once she saw how many people were with me. Then she started accusing me of stalking HER.

She even posted "proof."

Which was a Canadian IP on her IP tracker... I live in Texas. Someone else was looking at her blog and she swore for months it was me and trying to guilt me into contacting her. I never have except for once to tell her to leave me alone. I have her blocked on every social site and changed my phone number. No mutual friends on Facebook. She still found me. But all she does is tell me she's changed now. I don't care. I just want her to leave me alone and stop tracking me down.

Wow. That's a terrible situation to be in. She sounds disturbed. I hope it all works well. Sometimes in life we just come across these types of people.

Urgh, I know that feeling.

I'm not doing much better on the writing front. I managed to wrap up the scene I was working on, but it needs work. And then I hit some writer's block too, starting the next scene.
