QUOTE(Sakiri @ Mar 15 2021, 06:13 PM) New pcs don't usually come with optical drives anymore.
Do they come with HDD's and RAM? Seriously, a PC with no disc drive is something I have no use for.

Well, most software these days is direct download, and you can buy external drives. https://www.amazon.com/External-CD-DVD-Driv...e/dp/B07MJW5BXZFor example. I need to get one so I can rip the rest of my music cds.

Do they come with HDD's and RAM? Seriously, a PC with no disc drive is something I have no use for. Me too, though I admit I don't use my disc drive very often anymore. I can understand young PC enthusiasts who don't have an investment in older software / audio CDs / DVDs /Blu Rays etc not been keen on them. Too, one can nowadays plug external disc drives into a PC. That's the route I'll take, push come to shove. Assuming I'm around long enough to assemble another PC, that is. Won't be any time soon, GPU prices being what they are.

A screwy morning. Drove the car for the first time since having some $350US preventative maintenance done on it last week. All was well...at first. Then the car began idling in Drive roughly. Was hard to start following my first errand-stop. Same for my second stop. On the way to Walmart it began to drive roughly at slow speeds. At Walmart, in my parking space, idling roughly in Neutral, the Service Engine Soon light comes on and stays on.
I'd planned to get groceries out of the way, then stop off at my local auto shop on the drive home. With that light now on, I nixed groceries and drove straight to the auto shop. The car was examined. Can't recall exactly what was wrong...vacuum pump maybe? The mechanic said it could be fixed with an easily installed bearing. He did so. It cost me nothing.
Drove back to Walmart, bought groceries, and returned home. Almost.
The car ran well the entire trip. However...
Right after I exited the main highway for the old highway that runs through my little hick town, POOF... Service Engine Soon light comes on and stays on. Drove the short(ish) distance to our local auto shop. The car was examined. Was told nothing is wrong with it, other than that the Service Engine Soon light will always be on. This is of course unacceptable. I'd never know if/when a new issue chops up...until too late. The alternative is to replace the part they gerry-rigged earlier. It's on order. 'Should' be available sometime tomorrow. Thankfully, I don't need the car again until the end of the week. <crosses fingers>

Planned adolescence. No, obsolescence. Also, I still wanna punch through the wall after listening to that Mortal Kombat techno remix

<nods> That seems to have been the case with my brothers car. Hope it doesn't turn out that way for mine. At my age, considering how little I drive, I really don't want to shell out big bucks for a vehicle I'll likely never come close to getting my money's worth out of. I was lucky in getting my current car free-of-charge when my mom felt herself too decrepit to drive. (Which I agreed with at the time.) Scary thing is, she was, at the time, only a couple of years older than my current age. On the other hand, my favorite uncle lived into his early 90s, and never ceased driving. (He had been restricted to 'local driving' just a few months before he passed, peacefully in his sleep with no forewarning.)
