I put some of those on my MGB back in the early 1970's to be able to see much farther on dark roads at night when going too fast.

Oh, don't you think you can slide that in there hoping no one would notice!

Then in the 1990's I had some on the roof of my Baja Bug (chopped VW beetle-based dune buggy). We called them driving lights.

That car is required to have those lights on the roof by law*, so I'm glad you had them It's weird there's no better name for them apparently. It actually baffles me

Down here in Khajiitland, we always refer to those kind of lights as “KC Lights” regardless of what brand they actually are

Mrs. Khajiit has another name for them which refers to the general type of person who has them down here, but it’s not a nice term, and I don’t think it applies to anyone here so I’ll keep it to myself, lol

External highbeam headlights, whatever they're actually called.

Here, we called them off-road lights, KC being the most popular brand. I never used them, settled for big fog lamps instead.

There are those who add lights because they have a need for them, e.g frequent fog, and those who who add them to look cool. The latter usually have them incorrectly located, badly adjusted, and turned on at the wrong time.

Most European cars come with fog lights, and there are always people who turn them on all the time. The same models in the USA typically don’t have them, because people would do that.

Yeah, around here, it’s mostly kids that add them to their ridiculous jacked up trucks and jeeps because they think they look cool. They do like to drive around with them on and it can make it hard to see if they get behind you.

When that happens I always turn on my warning/hazard blinkers and don't turn them off until they turn their highbeams off. It actually works. Of course if I meet someone with highbeams on I turn my own on too. Not to be a jerk but it's the only way I can tell them to turn them off.

With these new ones on that'll be even more effective
