QUOTE(flowerboom @ Feb 9 2013, 12:27 PM) 1 . do you throw coins at them ( or give them to them)
I used to but eventually I had given them enough for them to buy their own mansions, so I stopped and just gave them bread, ale, a cloth and bear pelt QUOTE(flowerboom @ Feb 9 2013, 12:27 PM) 2 . how much do you give them?
I used to give them three septims or so each time. QUOTE(flowerboom @ Feb 9 2013, 12:27 PM) 3 . do you like beggars ?
I have no problem with them in general. They donīt bug me or anything (forced conversation) QUOTE(flowerboom @ Feb 9 2013, 12:27 PM) 4 . do you think all the beggars are frauds?
As they change their voice from weak to strong every so often, Iīd say something fishy is going on. I think theyīre all actually millionaires who dress up as beggars to collect free money. This happens irl so why not in Tamriel?

QUOTE(flowerboom @ Feb 9 2013, 06:27 AM) 1 . do you throw coins at them ( or give them to them)
Depends on the character. I had a Paladin a few years back (Dyan phor a'Cauz) who always gave money to beggars. She is a noble do-gooder. Then one day she met a particularly healthy-looking bum, and refused to help him. Dyan got to the point that she was sick of being "the one". Why does she have to be the one who helps everybody, where is the NPC whose willing to help her as she travels about, saving Cyrodiil from ruin? Other characters of mine don't give beggars any coin. They'll just ignore 'em. Dyan was the one (for awhile) who basically helped every bum she came in contact with. QUOTE 2 . how much do you give them?
If my chars. give them anything, they'll usually splurge. They won't just give a "single coiiiin", instead they move on to the Persuasion mini-game, which offers dozens more gold. The gold actually never gets spent, by the way. From what I've seen, dead beggars still happen to have all the gold given to them over time. QUOTE 3 . do you like beggars ?
Real-life or in the game? In the game, I don't like or hate 'em. Again, this depends on the character, I personally don't have an opinion, other than the fact that beggars fill out the bottom niche of Tamriellic society. If there weren't any beggars in Tamriel, something would be missing. In real-life I like some, and will help some, but only if they're seriously wounded, or if they're doing something creative. Able-bodied beggars who play an instrument or recite poetry for instance (badly or well, I don't care) are at least doing something other than just sitting around, and I appreciate this. I've been homeless myself, so I've seen both sides of this sort of reality. I know how tough it is, but I also know some people like being homeless. Some are homeless by choice. But if they're not doing something with their time (or seriously maimed/disfigured) they're not getting a 'single coin' from me. QUOTE 4 . do you think all the beggars are frauds? *
Haha where do you come up with these topics, flower? One of my characters kinda does. Kahreem of Weet is a thief whose been dealing with beggars on and off ever since joining the TG. He does get suspicious whenever a beggar changes his/her voice from peasantry to commoner. This post has been edited by Lady Saga: Feb 10 2013, 12:28 AM

1. Occasionally, but not too often. 2. A Septim. Wait...no, make that two septims. I feel like livin' it up. 3. They're alright. They got some funny names though. The funniest beggar name I saw was Ragbag Buntara 4. Yes, they all frauds I've given every beggar in Cyrodiil and skyrim enough money to buy every house for sale, AND THEY ASK ME FOR MORE! QUOTE(Lady Saga @ Feb 10 2013, 12:50 PM) Heh Yep that's me, flowerbooom: I'm a pusher of boundaries. I like going off-topic a bit and sharing things about real-life, and what better place to do it but at Chorrol? Off-offtopic: so I've been here over a year. I've seen more movement in the OB sections in the past couple days than I've seen all the past year. hopefully this will stay we need to try and get the forums alive again

QUOTE(flowerboom @ Feb 10 2013, 08:41 AM) hopefully this will stay we need to try and get the forums alive again That's the spirit! I've tried to recruit various members from that 'other' forum to Chorrol, but mostly people don't take the bait. SubRosa actually suggested I become a member here way back in 2009, but I didn't show up until last year. Dang, I wish I had listened to her back then.

Mirocu, I know! Buffy routinely checks several of the beggars. Mr 'I'm savin' for some med'cine' has loads of gold that Buffy has given him as well as the several healing and curative potions she has given him as well. And Miss 'One more coin and I kin git me a pair of shoes' also has plenty of coins and scads of shoes - all courtesy of you-know-who!

QUOTE(mirocu @ Jan 2 2014, 04:27 PM) They always ask Lothran for "just one coin" and now on his last day on patrol he decided to check their coin purses to see if they really needed it. Turns out Fetid had 146 gold coins in his, and Jorck had riches exceeding 400 coins! Exactly. tHey don't actually spend their coin in the vanilla game; hence they never get that 'pair of shoes' or 'help their children'. Wow 400 coins. See that's what happens when you have just one character since 2007, I suppose.
