Is everyone taking advantage of the Midyear Mayhem in Cyrodiil? I missed yesterday because I didn't know it was ongoing till Acadian said something!

Isn’t that a strictly PvP event?

Yes it is a PvP event.

Buffy manifests in several variations and she changes among them as easily as she changes hairstyles or costumes. As a young (L19) bow/bow nightblade, she popped into the event to do her Cyrodiil turorial and work up her Alliance skill line some (for Caltrops at Alliance L6). Her tutorial took her to L2. Then she ran with a group using them for protection and sniping from the middle of them which got her to L4. Not sure she'll continue but she did get a good start.

She also plays a CP750 bow/bow sorc who already did all that a long time ago. Honestly, the bow/bow nightblade is just for comparison - and likely to not compare favorably I think.

The 'magic' Buffy's (healer and stormsorc) don't care about Alliance skills.

Yes, but your first gift basket from it requires no PvP at all. You just go to the Crown Store and get the free quest starter, go to your (safe zone) Alliance base in Cyrodiil and talk to the lady with the quest marker over her head. She will have you bathe yourself in the blood of Pelinal Whitestrake, and you return to her and tell her nothing happened. She says, "Oh Well..." and gives you the quest reward and you get an achievement for completing that quest. No PvP required for that.

I took every one of my characters down for the free gift last year, but only one of them went out into Cyrodiil and played to get the rest of the event's achievements (Britta, the Tank).

This year only one of my characters was eligible for the present, and if I can find some friend to go with her, I'll take her out to get the rest of the achievements (plus skyshards, etc) I'll do her too. She has been out down there already just to use her staff and heal and repair walls to gain Alliance points, but didn't do well in a fight at all, lol.

While there = if you haven't done it yet, you can train in how to use the Siege Equipment and get three skill points for training for the Alliance war = also no PvP required to get those.

There is one more task they will give you that sends you out to the place where the Elder Scroll is = that one there will put you out into the PvP zone, but everything before that is in the safety of your base. (and you can abandon that quest if you don't want to do it).

I honestly haven't bothered with the event because 1. I'm not into PvP and 2. This is horrifically out of character for every single character I had at the time. Dunno if I'll give it a try this year but ehhhhhhhh

I should have some time Monday morning for Cyrodiil adventures if anyone is interested. What Alliance?

Elke got caught up in a huge siege the other day. She was wearing her sneaky-sneaky gear, but her Nord blood wouldn’t let her pass on by. She couldn’t find a place to set up the ballista she had in her pocket rolleyes.gif , so she ended up defending the siege line. For a very short time. Lol.

On the plus side her Shadow Dancer gear proved its worth earlier in her trip. You can run in stealth! Amazing.

Yeah, I don't have the ability to PvP, it takes a LOT of fast thinking and (fast brain signal to get the hand pushing the right keys) = that is what I am just not capable of, laugh.gif

But that said = there is a HUGE number of skyshards down there; and so the draw was there to get me down there for those.

If you are killed, you can just resurrect at the nearest Keep; (there is no resurrecting where you died down there).

But I actually did enjoy being a part of the Alliance war down there with Britta, who could take some hits before dying and sometimes do enough damage to take one down first. But defending and attacking Keeps actually was a ton of fun, and a whole different way to play than against the mindless AI of enemies in PvE. Human brain against human brain is kind of awesome! I don't think fast enough or react fast enough to ever do well down there, but ride with the Emperor's raiding party sometime down there for some real excitement = it is fun you will never forget! (and you gain some huge boons to your combat while riding in the Emperor's party)

If you have characters in different Alliances; bring one down when their Alliance has one or more of the other Alliance's Elder Scrolls; and whenever possible when their Alliance holds the Emperorship. Your character benefits from anything their Alliance is doing (or suffers if they aren't doing well). They get boosts like stronger damage; better healing; better resistance; etc. when their Alliance is holding Elder Scrolls or the Emperor is of your character's Alliance, etc.

I have one in the Aldmeri (Templar) and one in Ebonheart (Nightblade) that needs some Alliance skills (Vigor/Purge/War Horn/Barrier/Caltrops) = either one (but of course, if we go Ebonheart we can wear our Chorrolite Tabards, lol).

So Buffy, in her young bow/bow nightblade form did spend enough time in Cyrodiil (with the special event AP boost) to get her alliance skills up to 6. That opens Caltrops (Vigor came at 4) so she is done. And exhausted!

I took Unna into Cyrodiil, just to gather skyshards. At the time EP held more of the map, so the home area was pretty safe for skyshard-hunting. Did a few delves, and generally played tourist, rather than get involved. We did take out an enemy scout we came across, as we left a cave somewhere.

Then the front lines moved in her direction, and she fell very quickly to a raiding party of half-a-dozen. I didn't even have time to notice which Alliance they were from!

So the PTS has the Murkmire preview quest up, and good god, it's apparently a lot longer than the previous ones. This is probably the first time a DLC/Chapter's preview has more than one full quest, let alone its own goddang dailies.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get very far, since I was struck by a "You do not have the permissions to travel here" message when trying to get into an area for the first quest. Bleh.

That aside, I noticed the questgiver has a very distinctive voice that may or may not belong to Nika Futterman, my headcanon for Jo'zira's voice. So that's pretty neat. biggrin.gif (A lot closer to Dogan than Olga, though, lol)

And it has been noticed. - but it will probably persist until next patch.

I just hope they didn't re-introduce the SLI crash. I want to be able to log in.

Edit: I did get in and start the prologue quest. Got the sub-quests from the TG members, and stuck on each of those. Haven't got out of Auridon yet!

---

I notice that we have Dwarven Crates as log-in rewards at the end of the month. There are three motifs one could buy for gems, but are they ones that won't be called for in writs?

Has anyone else done Master Writs and the game didn't give them the vouchers it was supposed to? I had 89 vouchers already; and was checking out what I could buy for that at both of the vendors. When I got done window shopping i went and did three more Master Writs (alchemy; two potion (5 each) and one poison (2 vouchers) = 12 vouchers) When I turned them in, I opened the store with the vendor again to shop, I should have had 101 vouchers, which would have given me the 100 I needed for what I was trying to buy. Instead I had only 95 vouchers = which was only 6 higher than it was before I did those three. There are no alchemy Master Writs for 6! Did they give me just two vouchers each for the three Master Writs? Either way, I got robbed for it. I heard someone else complaining about it last week, same thing happened to them. I've put in two bug reports, and didn't get a single response!

What kills me is that the Devs said they would fix X with the patch on the next DLC (!!!) instead of fixing it first and making the game stable before the next DLC is added!

Craglorn, Coldharbour, and Stonefalls are all still disappearing if you turn a certain way at certain spots in the game ever since Summerset; they shouldn't even be talking about the next DLC till they fixed the errors caused by the last ones! I am really getting a bit ticked that they don't seem to be fixing anything anymore.

I've been taking my characters off to get their Mayhem intro rewards, but several of them have been unable to get the training quest completed. We talk to the right NPC, get send to pick up the materials at the other base, but then the quest market fails to materialise over the NPC at the range, and no training takes place.

Still, everyone has the scroll, and we got a whole bunch of Boon Boxes, (one of which contained a Hakeijo), so it wasn't a complete waste of time. Quite a few Skyshards collected, too!

While I'm on the subject, Acadian already mentioned the Vigor and Caltrops skills, that certain builds find useful. The skill advisor is recommending another I can't recall. What ones should we consider going after?

Ooh, I saw one line on there that I liked!

QUOTE

Significantly reduced the amount of Boosters needed to improve the quality of Jewelry.

At maximum rank of Plating Expertise, it now takes only a single piece of Terne to go from white to green, and it takes only 4 units of Chromium to go from purple to gold.

Reduced the number of Platings required to craft Jewelry Crafting furniture recipes.

WOO HOO !!!!!!!!!!

People in my housing guild are saying the days of 50% off crown sales are gone, and that 20 - 30% off is the business model of the moment.

That’s what Khajiit is doing. Plus it doesn’t hurt that there’s nothing coming out in the store that this one is interested in. The next Crown Crate season should be cool though!

On that subject, I note we have Fire Atronach back for a week (might grab the Patrician gown costume for gems) and we're about to get Dwarven for log-in rewards at the end of the month, so ZOS are apparently wanting to stir the variety a bit faster than before. These aren't replacing the Psijic ones, either, as all that content still seems to be around.

It's all making me hope the "limited time" items, like Unna's bear, will get a re-issue, too.
