It was supposed to be my dessert last night, but I fell asleep waiting for it to cool, lol.

Well breakfast is supposed to be sweet anyway! One time in N'awlins, Khajiit had creme brûlée French toast. Needless to say, it was awesome.

A much younger me would have ditched Broccoli, and Prunes. The now me would ditch Cheetos and Root Beer. Both mes would ditch prunes, which I've never developed a liking for. (To be fair, I've not reevaluated prunes in decades.)

Good news of a sort, during today's weekly weight reading I weighed 140lbs, as I have for quite some time. Looks like switching to oatmeal for breakfast isn't going to ruin me. I'll want to keep a close eye on the scales another couple of weeks to be sure. (I'd prefer to be 135lbs, as I've always felt my pathetic best between 128lbs and there. But...to drop below 140 I need to do a more strenuous exercise routine than I am now able to. Some jogging mixed in with my exercise-walks at the least, which my knees no longer tolerate.)

Anybody ever eat a Date? (Not the bad ones!) I've always wanted to try one, but never met a single person who has them. S'pose I ought to just buy some for a taste.

Khajiit's mind went to a very dark place when he read that first part, lol.

But yeah, they can't be that expensive so just try them for yourself. This one suspects they are like oversized raisins.

Only dried ones, not fresh. Every other fruit you can get both ways, I've eaten both kinds, but dates are the exception.

Wikipedia says they're grown in California, but that Italy is too cool for them(?)

They taste like prunes but sweeter with the texture of a banana.

I recommend a Ploughman's Lunch consisting of

* One cracked biscuit
* Spread-out, highly processed cheese
* One small, pickled onion

All expired years ago and served from a small, plastic bag. Enjoy!

Still auditioning my oats/cinnamon/sugar-substitute/banana breakfast. Other than the health benefits of adding oatmeal and cinnamon to my diet, I've this to consider:

PLUS
...totally removes my jelly/jam/preserves expenditure.
...reduces my bread expenditure by roughly a third.
...reduces my butter substitute expenditure by roughly a third.

MINUS
...adds an oats expenditure.
...adds a cinnamon expenditure.
...increases my super substitute expenditure by roughly a third.

Oats and jelly pretty much cancel each other out.
My current thought is that remaining minuses outweigh remaining pluses, but not enough so to worry over. Depends on how fast I run through containers of cinnamon.

Pork chop marinated in citric juice with cherry tomatoes; a combo of (steamed) winter and summer squash bite-sized cuts; with cantalope cuts for dessert. It was Mmmm-good!

I'm sticking with my switch to an oatmeal based breakfast. One possible cause for concern...this week's weigh-in found me about a pound heavier than my now normal 140lb. That's within acceptable fluctuation, so long it doesn't prove to be the first sign of steady weight gain.

Due to yet another week of rather rancid looking apples at Walmart, I settled for a variety unknown to me...ambrosia. If the batch I bought is representative, they're not for me. I like sweet apples. While ambrosias are sweet, it's a mild sweetness, too much so for my liking. (Last week's Fuji were about the yummiest I've bought this year.)

Little over a week until T-day, the one day of the year I eat a traditional "meat & potatoes" type meal. As last year, my bro and I will dine at his "city's" one true American style all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant. (Its one local rival, which we preferred, went belly up.) It's one of those rare times I don't worry about health and weight and pig out to my heart's content...within reason. No dessert...I draw the line there and will not cross it.
