Bold: one of my most favorite things about living in Miami that I miss so much now was the AWESOME black beans; white rice; and fried sweet plantains. Boy do I wish I could cook this like the Cubans in Miami can!!!! Every time I went back there; one of the first things I did was find a good Cuban restaurant and order it = and keep coming back till they thought I was a relative, lol. MMMMMMMMMMM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(mALX @ Dec 6 2017, 12:25 AM) QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Dec 6 2017, 01:20 AM) It does sound really good!
It is amazing! And I always ordered it with pork chops (Chuletas) because the Cuban traditional seasonings and spices for their pork chops was just plain Awesome! I am sure they weren't thrilled to see an American in there at first; but I wore them down and by the time my vacation was over they were happily greeting me when I came in; lol. Ooh, one of Khajiit’s favorite Mexican dishes from his local Mexican restaurant o’ choice is a pork chop smothered in verde sauce with sides of rice and awesome charo beans. This one has never tried Cuban style pork chops, but he is sure he will like them!

This one has never tried Cuban style pork chops, but he is sure he will like them! It won't be as spicy as your Mexican counterpart; and at first might feel a bit bland on a palate used to Mexican and Cajun (and probably Sichuan) But the blandness really is deceptive; it has an amazing flavor; just more subtle than you might be expecting from what you generally eat. But I think you are enough of a connoisseur that you would most def enjoy them and find yourself craving them again in the future (like I do, lol). Speaking of craving things: My Mother used to make a Key Lime Pie with the lime peels in it. At first your mouth would pucker right up from the sourness of it; and you would wonder what the heck she could have been thinking to put the peels in there! But a couple hours later you would find yourself craving more; and when you left you would crave that pie till you returned because you couldn't find it made like that anywhere else! I wish I'd gotten the recipe from her before she passed away.

QUOTE(Dark Reaper @ Dec 6 2017, 04:48 PM) I know that feeling of a loved one taking a recipe to the grave with them. My mother used to make Mexican Casserole to die for---then she passed away and took that recipe with her. Now the only thing I can find that comes close is Stoffers Fiesta Bake which comes REALLY close to her casserole.
Luckily, this one’s own mother is the best cook in his family and anything she knows how to do well, Khajiit already has learned from her how to do. This makes Khajiit the second best cook in his family Also sorry for the loss of your ma. This post has been edited by TheCheshireKhajiit: Dec 7 2017, 01:06 AM

QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Dec 7 2017, 08:17 PM) Khajiit doesn’t know if any of you folks are beer drinkers, but this one loves Sam Adams Winter Lager. It’s a tasty brew, and something Khajiit looks forward to every year during the holidays!

I like beer. my favorite are Rolling Rock and Coors. Never had Rolling Rock but generally prefer Coors to Bud and Miller stuff (especially the light beers). Most of the time Khajiit prefers darker beers unless it is summer and then he drinks a lot of Dos Equis, Tecate, and Modelo Especial.

On the beer: Red Star only = which is not exported; unfortunately. (Meaning visit Germany if you want some) Unlike the U.S.; Germany keeps its best inside the country; and exports the stuff they don't want, lol.
