Chapter 5

The wind and the cold lashed at me as I walked down the road. Soon I was out of sight of the village and I stopped and just took in the scene. The sparkling snow covered the trees and

the ground, and what a beautiful scene it was a very inspiring moment.

I continued on, but as I did so I felt the urge to write more in my book. To get it finished would be wonderful, then I could marvel at my complete life shoved into thin sheets.

Walking on I came farther on the path and I froze, for I could here the sounds of others. Crouching low I took refuge under a bush. The ground was freezing but it was this or capture,

which would lead to death.

The sound of approaching footsteps became louder, and suddenly I was grabbed by the back of me shirt and heaved up.

"Now what in the name of Oblivion were you doing down there?"

I struggled to free myself, but my attempts were unsucessful.

He let me go, and asked his question over, this time using a kinder voice.

I looked at him and saw he wasn't an Imperial Guard at all, but just a hunter scouting for food.

My answer puzzled him "Hiding" I said.

"Well, what for. I am no beast."

"Not from beasts." I told him.

"Well then, from what?"

"I'd rather not say."

"Well fine with me, it's not my business."

He looked up before turning his attention back to me,

"It's snowing quite heavily, come along. If you need shelter that is."

So I followed him, and he led me to a small camping area he had set with traps to keep away monsters that lurked around these areas.

"Watch your step now." he said as I followed him. He motioned for me to follow into a tent.

"Cover yourself, you are cold." He said lifting a small blanket and throwing it at me.

"I will return soon," and he left me there.

As soon as he had left I took out my quill and paper and got to work.

Chapter 6

The concept of being an outlaw was somewhat new to me, I had always been a criminal. Yet never before had I been on the run from the Imperial Legion.

------------

I froze as the man came back in unexpectedly, "Forgot this," he muttered as he picked up his sword. I saw his eyes glance across my page.

"What is it you have there?" he asked.

"Just a . . diary." I said

"Oh then, it's none of my business." he smiled and left me alone. Heaving a sigh of relief I continued.

-----------

The footprints my feet left in the muddy ground were very noticeable, but I didn't have the time to cover them up somehow. So I just left them, so what if they were noticed by the

Imperials. Hundreds of travellers went on this road every day, so I had already mixed in with the crowd.

I spoke with several people on my small travel on the road. Not able to gather much useful information from any of them I gave up.

----------

Just then I decided I needed some fresh air, for the tent was stuffy and didn't do much of a job keeping the cold out.

I walked out and I was surprised.

Two imperial guards were standing there. One quickly hit me on the head, and I became dizzy. The other pushed me to the ground and tied my hands with a small rope. Then they hit me on my head again and I passed out.

The friendly man was an assasin. I had been lured into a trap similar to ones I had set often.

----------

I was to receive a sentence of life imprisonment, though more could be added to my sentence later.

I sat in the prison cell writing more of my journey. Here is how it went.

Note: No this is not the end, just in case anyone was wondering.

This is the end.

Conclusion

I wrote long into the night, and come morning I had a visitor.

It was Klonika. I smiled when I saw her, but I did not tell her what my final punishment would be.

I read her my story swiftly yet emotionally and when I finished she hugged me and said goodbye. I smiled as she walked off, she had a long life in front of her. I hoped it didn't turn out like mine.

I ate my small dinner in silence and when I slept I dreampt of nothing happy.

In the morning it came time for my execution.

Note: Leaves you hanging doesn't it, especially since the conclusion is so short. Now you never get to hear her story. I wanted to end this story sadly though, so there you have it. sad.gif

Happier stories will be on the way, that is as soon as I come up with some good ideas.

Good work- not every story ends with "he/she/they lived happily ever after." MW is a harsh world and justice is also harsh. But I wonder what will happen to Klonika....
