well i am assuming that with a physics engine it would calculate your speed, and then calculate the force pplied by the wall, and that applied by your velocity. and then from there figure whether or not the physics would push you back.
so for example running at full speed into a wall, well oviously you are going to be bounced of it, and then physics engine will probably make you stagger backwards and even fall. but if you are sneaking, you are applying little if any force, so the wall isn't going to apply any force back, so you will be able to safely sneak up to a corner and what not.
yah i tok physics in 10th grade, so i could have very easily forgotten everything about it, but i don't think that collision aree all that complicated, unless you want like car wreckage type damage or something lol.
