Well, the third official mod, the Wizards Tower is out, and has been bought by quite a few people as we understand. We took the time to purchase this ourselves and inside the article you can read what we (I) thought of it.

Review: Wizards Tower

Sounds like the quality has at least been slightly improved for this third BethMod. I'll see if it's actually worth its price once I get home next weekened but somehow I'm still very doubtful about it. Odds are I'll end up seeing it as just another "cheat" mod (ie. a mod that gives the player access to items/services/similar which in the vanilla version of the game require at least some effort to get). And to be honest, anyone can make a "cheat" mod.

Rane,
You probably will see this as a cheat mod.
You have both enchanting altar, and spellmaking altar in the tower. But i don't consider that much of a cheat.

If you ask me,it's stupid of Bethesda to limit the players they must join the Arcane University to enchant their items.I mean enchanting is more useful for a warrior (a nice enchanted claymore, better protection armor etc.)than to a mage (enchant robes and hood).

I'm presonaly anoyed with the enchanting system itself. You can now more easyly get a 100% Chameleon and become an absolute god, than for example in Morrowind. But that's another story.

So i probably support the Enchanting Altars included in the mod.Enchanting should be a posibility for any character, not just mages.I also think that enchanting prices and shoul raise a lot ,and values lower a lot to balance the game. But,oh well.

I think that Wizard's Tower is definalty an improvment considering the quality of Horse Armor or Orrery. This time it actualy has a purpose (Horse Armor is just a nice lokkig trinket, same goes with Orrery). But i also agree with Alex that it could be better decorated, and that raining on top of the tower is so damn anoying (Tip:There is an unofficial fix for that little problem).

Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against cheat mods themselves. However, it's far from difficult to create your own house with its own set of unlimited ingredients, enchanting and spellmaking services and whatever else you want. So, the only things that would perhaps mean something for me would be the new models, the tower design and the overall visual look. From what I've heard, the mod has found to be lacking in some of those aspects (constant rain+fog on top of the tower, the decoration isn't that great etc).

Anyway, I'll give my final judgement once I get to explore the tower myself.

Well, what i wanted to say is that altars should be available to everyone with higher prices.Morrowind system was working perfectly,i don't know why did they change it wacko.gif.I mean sure,i can join the Mage's Guild, work my way to University(all those recommendation quests are easy),get enchanting\spellmaking services. But what if i want to role-play?A Nord barbarian wouldn't be a good Arch-Mage IMO laugh.gif so i can't enchant my axe? That's just stupid IMHO
About unlimited ingridients:Don't worry there isn't such a thing in the tower. And there shouldn't be.
And yeah as i said that raining on top if the tower is really anoying.Luckily some guy made a fix already.

Anyway, enjoy your exploring,it won't be a long time before you figure the tower out.First i thought it was very good, but then i realised it isn't all that special.
Hope you like it! smile.gif

I sort of agree the official mods should be things modders can't easily themselves, nor cheat mods, nor removed content, which is all the official mods seem to be, aside from horse armor, which is nothing at all.

To HyPN0:
In MW: make spells that improve your enchant, luck and INT and you can make an ring with CE 100% chameleon (tried and it worked). You can do the same with levitation and Restore Health.
MW's system was all just not perfect indifferent.gif Both games are at same level.
