Oh my gosh! Aravi’s answer to Braig was perfect, though I’m sure she didn’t want to talk about it. And she sure didn’t want to tell him about Kharjo.

A Khajiit does not need a little shiv! Good grief, that guy’s name is “Duach”? ohmy.gif Er, I’m sure he doesn’t pronounce it that way.

Aravi made the only choice that she could. What a relief that she is strong enough to take Madanach down. Now whatever she has to face in the dark and wearing rags, at least she doesn’t have guilt and shame on her conscience. What a great video! Her character came through so well!

Screens: I’ll admit that at first (a year ago) I loathed the glass armor. Then I noticed all of the colors in the glass weapons. Then DovahKen made Erik wear glass armor (because it was THE BEST), and I noticed how beautiful the light looks in the green glass, and how the gold metal looks quite sturdy up close. So I give Aravi’s new armor a big thumbs up! I especially like the Elven helm with it. That helm shows off her face very nicely.

This Way is my favorite, too. happy.gif
SubRosa
I love how Braig says he's got digging to do, when he is just sitting there doing nothing...

Braig's story is very interesting, in more ways that one. He says the Jarl had his daughter killed. While the Empire's book Bear of Markarth claims that it was all Ulfric. Likewise, in his journal Thonar Silverblood says he kept the Jarl from killing Madanach. So it appears that Ulfric was not the one killing people after Markarth was retaken from the Forsworn, but rather Jarl Igmund (and seeing how the Forsworn killed his father, it is no surprise).

Now what will Aravi do? She has the shiv, will she kill Grisvar for Madanach, or will she kill Madanach? Looks like its going to be Madanach. Good on Aravi. Grisvar is by no means innocent, but that does not mean he deserves to be murdered by that madman either. Now time for Aravi to make a break for it!

I think the glass looks good on Aravi too. It is so much better than it was in Oblivion. I am with Grits. This Way was the best pic. It gives us a wonderful view of Aravi's face.

Vid – Braig’s dialog options for Aravi were a little better. They allowed nicely for her youth as a slave. Although it didn’t account for Kharjo waiting for her, she might well have chosen to keep that to herself anyway. The dialog did provide her some interesting and provocative options and Braig certainly told a tragic tale. Ever so much better than the dialog with that Madonach guy who didn’t even look up from his writings in the last vid.

So Madonach lets it be known there is a way out and gives Aravi a ‘test’. I see her first reaction is to ignore the task and try to find the way out on her own – no luck.

I was surprised to see her cast a spell! I figured the prison/mine would have their charges in ‘null iron’ manacles or such to prevent magic use.

So when she can’t find the way out on her own, she decides to take out Madonach himself instead of the Unlucky dude. Well-done as she puts that rude fellow to the claw! Based on his note, it looks like she just might get outta there!

Screens – I quite like the new armor. It looks stout enough to help protect Aravi when she gets in close with those dual short blades while still being quite stylish. The green is a nice shade and subtle enough that it works well. Nice! I quite agree that the OB glass armor looked horrendous, but this stuff looks great! goodjob.gif

@mALX: I liked her face in that screen too. Aravi was not at her best in the cave, it is too much like what she went through when she was younger. She was also faced with a choice of either killing the Unlucky guy or Madanach with basically her bare hands. What armor are you talking about? Thanks mALX!

@Grits: I didn’t like any of the available dialog when talking to Braig, so I edited what Aravi could say to something more appropriate. Glad you liked it! biggrin.gif She thought of Kharjo, but she wasn’t telling anyone about him.

You are so right! When Aravi got her shiv, she just looked at it and used her claws instead. They were more effective than that little piece of crap. Thanks Grits!

@SubRosa: Braig is a typical person. “I’m busy!” …doing what?

Interesting. I don’t think I’ve read that book yet in game. Something like that doesn’t surprise me there are conflicting accounts. I bet it was the Jarl.

Aravi really didn’t want to kill either one of them, but with no choice I think she chose well. I wasn’t sure if she was going to have the whole mine after her when she killed Madanach.

I wasn’t sure on the glass armor. It’s more bulky but protects much better. It’ll probably be temporary. Thanks SubRosa!

@Acadian: As I said above, I did some editing to one of the dialog options so that I had something that fit Aravi. She chose to not talk of Kharjo.

Aravi really didn’t want to kill someone, but that’s how it turned out. She was expecting the entire cave to come after her at that point.

The glass armor really looks tough in my opinion. Glad you like the way it looks. Thanks Acadian!

Screens! These were taken with a mod called Realistic Lighting. I think I’m going to remove it and go back to the previous mod I was using. This one offers better performance, but the other was much prettier in my opinion.

Trying some new textures. What do you think?

EDIT: With the older lighting settings:

If Aravi had walked back out into the rest of the mine, all the other prisoners would have attacked her. Neith found out the hard way...

So Aravi is free once more, and there is Thonar. Uh oh, here comes Retribution. I wonder if Aravi is going to get a big, fat bounty put on her head in a moment? Wow, It was only a bounty of 40. I was expecting a 1000. I do not blame Aravi. The city is a better place without that slimeball in it.

I see Aravi is in a hurry to leave Markarth. I do not blame her.

What does Ag Ved mean?

I am not really sure about the difference between the two lighting setting mods. I think the new pics looks good, lighting-wise. The pink clouds one was odd. I have never seen that kind of coloring in evening clouds.

I think the new textures look good. Is that the snow leopard skin I saw on the Nexus? I was going to get that, until I saw it changed all Khajiit. I was hoping it was a standalone for an extra skin option.

Acadian
Vid- Glad to see Aravi out of that prison/mine place. She was one angry kitty and that came through loud and clear! biggrin.gif A great night run through the country. Love the waterfalls and windmills! Uh oh, another dragon.

Screens- I love Aravi’s swords in ‘Blood’! The new Khajiit textures look nice; unless I’m mistaken, it makes her fur look a bit longer than previously? I’m horrible with lighting and graphics settings so can’t be of much help there unless the pictures are side by side of the same thing at the same time. I’m sure my lack of familiarity with Skyrim doesn’t help.
mALX
I Love "Shine!" That is so cool! And "Pink Clouds" is Awesome too! The new textures are pretty!

ROFL !! Aravi takes her reward, then kills Thonar anyway - man was he ever loaded in loot! Love how after the guard tells her she will be arrested, nothing happens (I didn't even hear any money leave her inventory) - and then she runs like a banshee! Lol.

What is that amazingly gorgeous cloak she is wearing? I love it! Awesome Update!!
Grits
Well that’s the best 40 gold that Aravi has ever spent! I was afraid they were going to take her back into the mine when the guard came up to collect the fine! ohmy.gif Even though she sprinted away until she ran out of breath, Aravi’s exit from Markarth was relatively peaceful with Madanach and Silver-Blood dead. There was a huge battle when Denelle got out. It was traumatic.

I was just thinking how beautiful the night sky looked, and then the dragon popped up! Good idea to go back and get a room. Whew, I’m glad this quest is behind her. I was very engaged which means I was stressed for her! laugh.gif That must have been the biggest relief for her to find Kharjo waiting, pretty much the first thing she saw on the outside.

For the screens, I’m not sure about the light settings either. It just looks like it might be a little cloudy in these pictures. I love the new fur and pattern with the exception of whatever is going on with Aravi’s left hand and tail. blink.gif I’m guessing that she’s still bloody from the fight before the previous screen, maybe? What is that shine, is that Stendarr’s Aura? That’s beautiful! I love the pink clouds. That one is definitely my favorite. It looks like Aravi is searching for a way down to that Word Wall, as if it is calling to her. And the light does shine nicely on her armor. smile.gif
King Coin
@SubRosa: Good to know about the mine, the first thing she wanted to do was get out anyways.

I was shocked she wasn’t charged with murder, but what the hell? tongue.gif

Ag Ved is ‘burn black’ in the dragon language.

I’ve already gotten rid of the other mod. Realistic Lighting it is called. This other mod just looks prettier to me. I’ve seen clouds like that and they are gorgeous. It’s when the sun’s going down and some of the reddish pink light is shining off of the bottoms.

Those textures are the CBBE standard Khajiit textures. You’ll see the snow leopard ones in a second. Thanks SubRosa!

@Acadian: That mine was just too close to some of her experiences of slavery and she will not let someone do that to her. Markarth has a very pretty area, but this whole experience has soured it for her. The ebony weapons and armor are very well done in my opinion. Those textures do make her fur look longer, which I kind of like. Thanks Acadian!

@mALX: ‘Shine’ depicts a spell added in Dawnguard. Anything undead is damaged if they are close to you with that going.

Damn right she’s going to kill Thonar! He thinks a ring is going to make everything better? Cloaks are added by cloaks of skyrim mod. Aravi really got off easy for killing Thonar, I guess they didn’t really like him either! Thanks mALX!

@Grits: I don’t know how the hell Aravi got away with that with only 40 bounty. She completely intended to keep going until she hit Rorikstead, but then the dragon. kvleft.gif Back to the city.

Those are blood textures on her hand and tail; this was right after the ‘blood’ screen shot. The rest of the blood was on her armor, so it came off when the armor did. Stendarr’s Aura it is! The new lighting mod would not have done the pink clouds, and the old settings are also partially responsible for how good her armor looks in that last one. Thanks Grits!

Was that the original voice actor for the guards? Or was that a new one trying to imitate it? He did not sound quite right.

I hope the cab driver did not sing the entire way! biggrin.gif

At least her housecarl did not give her lip when she walked into her house! I was waiting to hear Aravi saying "I own you!"

Wow, a dragon inside the city. That is interesting to see. I guess that happens a lot when you fast travel places. Oooh, Aravi rended it. Now come the two swords. This should not take much longer...

Aravi stands there devouring the soul of the dragon she just slew, and Brynjolf asks her to join the Thieves Guild. While in the background we hear the Madesi: "Beautiful baubles and gleaming gemstones over here!" I just love this game. All we need now is for a guard to say "My cousin is out hunting dragons, and get stuck here!" smile.gif

And poor, shy Aravi runs for it, rather than bask in the glory. Only to get the guards hassling her for shouting!

I liked Another Dawn best of all the pics. I love the sunrises and sunsets in this game. The snow leopard texture looks neat. But I am so used to Aravi the other way, that it just does not seem like our kitty.

Acadian
Vid: Ooh! A new group of vampire hunters! All kinds of implications for Aravi. Thanks for showing us carriage travel – that looks neat.

What an exciting dragon fight at Riften. You could really feel Aravi's frustration as she tried to set up shots only to have the damn dragon fly out of her firing lane, over her head, or out of sight. By landing, the dragon made a big mistake I see.

And the forecast is for a cloudy night. Oh, wait a minute. Thanks to our shouting Khajiit, looks like it’ll be a clear night filled with stars. tongue.gif

Screens: Those are some great outdoors shots! I really like the cold lake and the forest around naked Aravi. And of course all those lights in the night sky are gorgeous. I like Aravi with her new leopard spots!
mALX
Love those new Khajiit textures! I'm torn between "Cold Lake" and "Making Tracks" - that was funny, trying to slip by unnoticed and have a trail anyone could follow left behind, lol.

Yeah, Dawnguard! Now I finally get to see what it is like from the Dawnguard side instead of the Vampire side! WOO HOO! The town gathering after Aravi killed that dragon was funny - but boy do you know your way around Riften, and in the dark + running even!

Got to say, my favorite scene in the movie is the guard seeking her out after she saved the town and telling her that her shouting is making everyone nervous! That had me rolling, and KNEW before she did it that Aravi would have to bellow one out after that, ROFL !!! LOVED this update !!!
Grits
Woo hoo, Dawnguard! Giving the Necklace of Disease Immunity to Kharjo was such a great Aravi moment. She’s not going to let him suffer the way she did.

Oh wow, that dragon was beautiful! That was a really neat Shout it was using. Wow, Dragonrend really works! I love how Brynjolf takes immediate credit and then tries to recruit Aravi again. I’m sure she is still not impressed with him. Another very Aravi moment when everyone gathered around to gawk and she fled. It was a relief to see Balimund still on his feet.

The nerve of that guard! laugh.gif If the Dragonborn wants a starry night, she gets a starry night! And the guards should be grateful that they didn’t see a werewolf under those moons!

It’s hard to pick between Dawn and Cold Lake, since they both have glorious skies, mountains, and Aravi. The reflections in the lake are so pretty. Between the title and the blood on her armor I wondered if Aravi was debating a swim, and then there she is in the next picture. happy.gif The leopard spots look awesome. I’m used to them already. Also the trees and water look particularly lush and inviting in that picture. Making Tracks gave me a much needed grin. Look at the stride length! She’s awesome.
King Coin
@SubRosa: I thought the guard sounded different too.

I’m not 100% sure, but I think dragons appearing in cities was from a mod. The dragon I know for sure isn’t vanilla. Aravi destroys everything so fast with her dual swords I’ve considered leveling her two handed weapons for a change.

Those NPCs are so stupid! laugh.gif I would have loved that line from a guard!

I think the textures are very pretty, the only gripe I have is that I would prefer the fur to look longer like the previous textures. Thanks SubRosa!

@Acadian: Fighting a dragon in the open is so much easier than in the town as you saw. It was almost impossible to shoot. Aravi’s shout ‘Dragon Rend’ forces a dragon out of the sky and that’s how she was able to get it into sword reach.

I had to show my favorite weather changing shout. Aravi likes the stars too. tongue.gif Glad you like the screens, there is a pond near where the leopard spots screen was taken and she spent lots of time there. Thanks Acadian!

@mALX: It did occur to me that the muffle spell should make it pretty easy to see you, never does though. It’s magic!

Aravi had a mild panic attack at the crowd forming and staring at her. She thought about leaving the city but then she remembered that lower part. Perfect to get away.

Aravi wanted some stars dammit! laugh.gif Thanks mALX!

@Grits: If Kharjo’s coming along for Dawnguard, he’s going to be safe. If only she had an amulet like that in Cyrodiil, her story would be very different. Everyone staring at her after the dragon fight was just a little bit too much.

That guard was getting nervous of Aravi! laugh.gif

I didn’t notice the stride length in that screen shot, wow she really is moving! Glad you like the spots so much. Skyrim has excellent scenery, I absolutely love taking screen shots with the mountains in the background. And Aravi loves a good swim! Thanks Grits!

A little Kyne's Peace goes a long way. The spell version I made of it goes a long way to leveling up your Illusion.

Those are some neat icy waterfalls.

The castle looks interesting. Very eastern European. It certainly looks in much better repair than any of the forts we see in the game.

That guy Talen has sure got some mutton chops! It is interesting that the Vigilants are wiped out at the start of Dawnguard. That takes away one of my points of criticism. I never saw the point in having the Dawnguard when they already had the Vigilants. But having the Viggies being killed off not only removes the redundancy, but also builds up the villains as being a force to be reckoned with.

Actually since Dawnguard is half-off today, I decided to buy it. Now I can make all the dogs in the game into huskies!

Poor kid, he looks like he is in way over his head. Though watch, his Pa's axe is something like this! biggrin.gif

Aravi in a little black dress! ohmy.gif Dibella be praised! wub.gif No wonder she had an audience!

Lining up a shot was probably my fave. The juxtapositon of Aravi in the foreground and the slightly out of focus mushroom things in the background really works.
Grits
Vanilla dragons do attack inside Riften. The Nether Dragon’s swooping and strafing behavior looked better than vanilla to me, though. It looked like a much smarter dragon. Really fun to watch.

The video: What an exceptionally pretty little pool. I just love Kyne’s Peace. Maybe it’s his voice, but I liked Agmaer right away. How funny, that frozen waterfall did not look very inviting after the warm pool! I enjoyed Aravi’s first meeting with the Dawnguard very much. Isran seems like he does not need to be liked, which immediately tests the resolve of his recruits. I’m sure Aravi wants to keep her personal distance anyway, especially if she could end up allied with the remaining Vigilants. There are some things they do not need to know about her!

Screens: Wow, what a dress! Credit to that guard, he did appear to be looking at Aravi’s face. I love the back. It’s hot, plus it looks like it would actually stay on (when you want it to tongue.gif). Lining up a Shot is my favorite here. What a pose! And the dungeon makes me delightedly anticipate a video in that location.
Acadian
The opening scene of the vid is delicious, with the music, butterflies and even water rippling as Aravi walks in it. Looks like she calmed that bear and left while it was still calmed – good girl! That big river with the waterfalls looked great, albeit chilly! So Fort Dawnguard it is. Love this: “I mostly just use my pa’s axe.” viking.gif

Fabulous screens! So nice to see Aravi styling in an outfit that’s not made from animal skins or metal! Can’t go wrong with a little black dress! The screen of her shooting those giant blue jellyfish (lol) is fabulous! So is the beautiful frozen waterfall.
King Coin
@SubRosa: I really like the way Kyne’s Peace shout sounds. Quite dramatic for just plopping a bear’s butt back down. tongue.gif

The castle is pretty large, thought you only really use a couple of rooms.

The huskies are cool! Glad you got it cheap!

Woah, that axe looks… unique. blink.gif

Aravi can look sexy if she wants! Glad you liked the shooting screen. Thanks SubRosa!

@Grits: Thanks on the dragons. I’ve got a mod that changes dragons and when something happens with them, it can be difficult to tell what’s vanilla and what’s the mod.

I absolutely had to show the little pool at the beginning. I’m sure if Isran knew about Aravi’s past, he would not be so inviting.

Glad you like the dress, everything about it is gorgeous, especially how it manages to show a lot of skin (or fur) and still doesn’t make her look like a dreamy school girl. I’m sure Kharjo’s happy, and I’m sure that guard is sneaking glances when he can. tongue.gif Thanks Grits!

@Acadian: I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think of you and Buffy with that opening. I liked it so much though that it would have made it regardless however. I may have to put a house or something around there sometime.

Buffy would need her toe ring if she wanted to swim in the river!

Enjoy the sight of Aravi in a dress, because they are few and far in between! Thanks Acadian!

It looks like Revansch is a day behind Aravi. She went to Fort Dawnguard yesterday and trudged off toward Dimhollow Crypt. It sure is a long walk though!

Is that the Vigilants of Stendarr's base that is all burned down? Uh oh, I recognize those dogs. Death Hounds. Revansch has already run into them several times in the vanilla vampire dungeons. Now that Aravi is closer, I see it is the Hall of the Vigilant. A master vampire? I have noticed that the vamps are tougher now, since they all wear that armor.

I am going to stop watching now that she is going inside the crypt. I do not want to spoil anything.

Frozen Valley looks really neat. I can tell that is a DG location.

I really loved Silhouette, Aravi's dark shape sneaking past that big, blue, whatever just looks amazing.

New Dangers are sabercats with giant tattoos? Are they some giant's housecats? A good action pic of Aravi ready to fire.

The last is a good closeup of Aravi, and I detect someone who is definitely not Kharjo hovering out of focus behind her. I am guessing that is Selene from Underworld Serana.

Edited to add: Remember how Aravi only got a 40gold bounty for killing Thonar Silverblood? Well Revansch just killed Maul in the middle of the street and only got a 40 gold bounty as well. Sapphire rushed in and attacked Revansch, so she killed her too. But I think she was a freebie because Sapphire attacked first. So I wonder if Bethesda screwed up the murder bounty in the latest patch? I am running 1.8.

Edit Some More: Went back and watched the entire thing. I recognize the female vampire voice as the same actress who does the arrogant dark elves. I think if both she and the other vampire had half a mind, they would still be short of a full one put together... It makes me wonder, how arrogant do you have to be for vampires to think you are insufferable?

I see she is putting her crossbow to use. Then it is sword time, and scratch three baddies.

Grits was right, it was neat how that skeleton rose up in front of Aravi's eyes like that.
Acadian
Vid:
That burned village was a gruesome mess! It was fun to see Aravi using the campfire kit, then she and Kharjo lingering by the fire to warm up. Into the crypt and overhearing some dissention in the vamp ranks it seems. So how does Aravi like her new crossbow? I saw her use it once, then it looks like she switched back to a regular bow. Love the river running through this dungeon.

What a shock to find the Hall of the Vigilant destroyed. As prissy and self-satisfied as they sound out on the road, I still hated to see that. But, new armor! hehe.gif

Oooh, campfire! What a beautiful spot. I love how the waving flag showed the wind. Fun to hear a vampire squabble. I see that Aravi went back to her bow, or maybe just wants more practice with the crossbow? That skeleton climbing out of its grave looked so neat! That place is so dark and creepy! I love it. I was glad that Aravi traded some things with Kharjo just to hear his friendly voice.

Screens: Yay, a closeup! happy.gif The last one is definitely my favorite. Silhouette is really neat! Beautiful frozen valley. Acadian is right, Aravi needs a Belly Chain of Getting Naked the Icy Dip!
Darkness Eternal
I caught up with the videos and the screenies! Eh, it took me awhile, a damn while, but a good while nonetheless! The quest in the Reach with the Forsworn is a great quest all around, and it ties in to Aravi's former slave life as it compares somewhat. I liked the dragon fight, as well. Never had one face me in a city before, then again, I never play as "dragonborn."

Hehe. And at long last, Aravi joins up with the Dawnguard to take on the blood-sucking creeps of Skyrim. I'd probably do the same, since the Volkihar are not my cup of blood tea. As for the Vigilantes of Stendarr, those evil hypocritical villains deserved everything they got. They should have been more . . .vigilant.

I willll enjoy watching the new updates, since I never truly followed the Dawnguard side of things, but now I get the chance to see it with Aravi at the center of the action! Now hurry up, let's see some vampiric beauty like Serana(or should I call her Sonja/Selene?) and some Vampire Lord(Or Marcus Corvinus) fights!

I am now plugged in thanks to the return of my internet! Now I can truly follow!
King Coin
@SubRosa: It is a little annoying that the quests are spread out so much, I use fast travel because many of the objectives are around places that Aravi’s already explored plenty of times.

Yep, that’s the hall. Wouldn’t that be interesting to have been playing a Vigilant character, and then install Dawnguard?

Those are DG locations. You’ll find them soon enough, and they are really cool when you get to them. The cat is a retextured sabre cat.

The bounty is Markard was messed up before 1.8 if that is the case, because I recorded that quite a while ago.

Lol @ the vampires. Thanks SubRosa!

@Acadian: That building at the beginning was the result of the attack Mr. Muttonchops was talking about in the previous video.

Aravi likes the crossbow fine; she just doesn’t have one that is enchanted. The bow had an enchantment she wanted to put to use. You’d like a lot of the caves in Skyrim, many of them have pools of water, streams, or rivers.

Nope, no toe ring. That was Buffy’s gift! Aravi stayed out of the water in this one. Thanks Acadian!

@Grits: Aravi always saw the Vigilants as armatures. They don’t really have very good armor or equipment when she’s seen them. She kind of has mixed feelings about them too.

She used the bow because she wanted to put its enchantment to use. The crossbow doesn’t have an enchantment. Aravi loves having Kharjo with when she has to go somewhere like this. They need to record more Khajiit lines.

rollinglaugh.gif @ belly chain! I’ve been looking, but nobody’s made one yet! Thanks Grits!

@DE: Hey you’re back! Glad to hear you have a connection you can count on again!

Aravi’s my dragonborn character, any others that I play are not. The forsworn quest is one of my favorites so far. It’s just too bad it ruined Markarth for Aravi, that’s a really cool city. She isn’t happy about the Vigilants, but neither is she going to morn their passing. And I believe Serana is coming right up. Thanks DE!

Physicalities of werewolves is a damn good book with some good info on the general stuff about Lycanthropy. How they're weakness goes beyond silver to being a plant(Wolf's bane), much like the Canis Root which weakens werebears, or so the stories say. It also paints the author as a sick, demented twisted evil fellow for performing a vivesection on his experiment. And then they complain why they're the bottom of the food chain, eh.

Nice screenies:

Wow, so Aravi has dragons torching her enemies, now? Way to go! biggrin.gif

"A moment," was a good picture. You set the mood with Masser, Wereavi and Serana, both creatures of the night, just looking at the horizon!

Anyways, Aravi must of hated that back since she would be a lab rat dog for those fiends. The action was superb! Her sneaky skills and slicing vampire thrall necks is never too boring to see. She always has something new up her sleeve.

SERANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn the cliffhanger! MUAAAAA sad.gif.
Acadian
That sword in Aravi’s left hand sure is a bright glowy thing! Youch! We see what is responsible for all those spider webs. That was a neat purple puzzle on the floor that Aravi used to raise the monolith. And she gets the girl in the end! What an entrance!

Spectacular screenshots and I like Aravi’s armor!
Grits
Oh no, spiders! tongue.gif Oh crap that’s a big one! I have no memory of that part. blink.gif Serana’s wakeup flop gave a great view of her excellent hairstyle. That whole scene has a nice feeling of another time, just the way the Vigilant scholar describes it.

Lovely screens! A Moment is so peaceful. Serana looks less than pleased, even though they’re under the moon. tongue.gif How fun to see Aravi with her dragon helper! The last one is my favorite with the fire light on Aravi and that beautiful bow, and the explosion in the background. That armor will work great for snow camo!

I have gone past the Vigilant hall being destroyed with Revansch, and she is still meeting Vigilants on the road. Looks like one more bug.

I liked Aravi's headshake at seeing the webs. Ugh, spiders. I have modded them out of my game.

I have to say that the random vampire talk you hear when you sneak up on them is improved over the vanilla game.

Vampires, death hounds, familiars, Kharjo, what an insane melee! I was afraid Aravi might hack up someone on the wrong side.

Ewww, that guy summoned a spider! ohmy.gif

So much for muttonchops. He should have waited for you to show up. Then he'd still be alive.

Scratch one vampire thrall. She walked right into that. Aravi did not have any trouble with those vamps. I see Lokil tried turning invisible and running on you too.

That spike from the pedestal was a surprise! Ouch! This puzzle took me a while.

@DE: The contents of that book are both interesting and disgusting. The experiments described were horrible. Aravi would kill anyone that tortured like that.

I really liked Moment, so I am glad you did as well. And yes, Aravi has dragons to help her out! Thanks DE!

@Acadian: That glowy sword is Dawn Breaker! It causes undead to explode sometimes. Seemed appropriate for fighting vampires. tongue.gif Thanks Acadian!

@Grits: Can’t it be anything but spiders? Ugh. That whole scene with Serana waking up was awesome. Very well done.

Serana does look impatient, doesn’t she? It was so much fun taking on the fort with the dragon helping. I got lucky with that last screen shot, very dynamic pose. Thanks Grits!

@mALX: Glad you approve of the new textures, I really like them too. Makes her look very distinct from the other Khajiit.

I think I know what screen you are talking about, the enemy isn’t an enemy but Serana.

The dragon was helping Aravi and no it is not a mod. Thank you very much for popping in mALX!

@SubRosa: I assumed those Vigilants on the road were based somewhere else.

I hate the spiders, but not enough that I feel like I need to mod them out. I think I am getting worse with spiders though…

Melees like that one are very difficult. Kharjo’s familiar often gets hit by Aravi when things are like that.

I’ve noticed that vampires are cowards. When they lose enough health, they very often try to disappear and run for it. I’m surprised you are the only one to mention the pedestal. That was a neat (if painful) addition, having your hand speared like that. It’s a little creepy knowing Aravi’s blood was used to wake Serana. Thanks SubRosa!

I started a new game to see if it would fix a problem I have been having, then started playing it because it is so much fun to be low level.
So here’s a level 4, slightly different looking Aravi
Lycanthropic-Legend
From dragon battling in the mountains, to fighting the Forsworn in the reach and escaping the mines to joining up with the Dawnguard to restart her vampire slaying career.

QUOTE
It’s a little creepy knowing Aravi’s blood was used to wake Serana.

We had a theory back in the Bethesda forums that when vampires forgo drinking blood for a large period of time, they're body goes into a coma. Such as the case of Rona Hassildor. According to lore, sometimes they go into hibernarion. The ones in Vvardenfell went into a deep slumber after they were all being hunted down by the Buyont Armigers and the Ordinators. Serana probably gave up drinking just so that she could sleep for all those years. Hell, she must be over four thousand years old!! And that's probably why she's so close to the player, because that's the first drop of blood that's she had for all those years, and that's what woke her up.

QUOTE
I’ve noticed that vampires are cowards. When they lose enough health, they very often try to disappear and run for it.

Yep. But then again, most of the vampire NPC's in the game are female . . .*puts on flame vest*

QUOTE

See, Lycanthropy can be confusing for the ignorant, and it is understandable that they would go to such lengths to explore and probe around the body of a werewolf for their heinous experiments. Understandable, but not noble or tolerable. Any werewolf would surely go in and rampage the hell out of them and disect them with teeth and claw for their nightly(or in some cases) daily nutrition. No wonder Aela and Skjor wanted to rush in and destroy the Silver Hand.

QUOTE
A vampire. After an uneasy start, they leave the crypt together. Aravi is glad Kharjo is watching her back.

Definetly uneasy. Vampires, by nature, are deceptive and manipulative and backstabbing. It's rooted in their blood. I was surprised and dissapointed that Serana didn't betray the player at the end of the quest if he was a vampire hunter.

Oh, and Serana us uncovered at last and it's off to Castle Volkihar to deliver the scroll and the beautiful vampire princess. Harkon will be pleased, but not when Aravi rejects his offer tongue.gif

Aravi's praising of the rainfall is such a wonderful picture, and funny, too! Though it would be better if it was raining sugar.

Acadian
Vid. As powerful as Serana’s entrance was, I was delighted that you treated us to it again! With Aravi, Kharjo and his wolf and Serana and her undead summons, the battlefield is getting pretty busy! Serana seems like a pretty effective mage. You could really sense Aravi’s trepidation about taking on a vampire. I loved when she looked to Kharjo and he gave her a ‘I dunno, boss’ kind of look. tongue.gif Seems like Serana’s been on ice for a very, very long time and what on Nirn is she doing with an Elder Scroll? I know. . . it’s complicated. . . .

Screens. Another little girl with a big bow! Is that a bandit wearing glass armor? I thought they would have fixed that for Skyrim. Lol. The rain shot is just beautiful. I’m so glad you’re enjoying a restart on Aravi! I see she kept her distinctive little scar.
SubRosa
I wish I had mysterious women falling into my arms...

Then again, mysterious vampire women I could do without. wink.gif

Did you mod something with Serana's eyes? In my game they look like solid red brake lights. Same with all other vampires.

I liked Aravi looking from Serana to Kharjo. I am sure she is glad to have someone she can trust with Serana around. The way the game forces you to take Serana back to her dad's castle is not the best example of good writing. A hard-core vampire hunter (is there any other kind of vampire hunter?) would kill her on the spot. But that would invalidate all the work Bethesda put into the character, so I am sure that is why you do not have the option.

Oh look, not one, but two gargoyles! And how nice of Serana to start things off by shooting Kharjo in the back. Ahh, that glowy thing is something Serana animated. I noticed she has a habit of animating everything that does not move. I suppose we all need hobbies... wink.gif

I see that Draugr Scourge got a delayed Dawnbreaker explosion. I have not seen that happen myself because my characters so rarely use followers. But I have read that if you hit an undead with Dawnbreaker and it dies within a certain amount of time, they can still explode. Even if Dawnbreaker is not the weapon that deals the final hit. Neat to see!

That Death Overlord actually lasted about 7 or 8 seconds against Aravi. I think that might be a record!

That is a large bow! What kind is it? I do not recognize it.

I see Aravi has some of that Snow Elf armor now. I think I like it. It is similar to Elven. I will have to see more of it. I noticed that the Thief was wearing glass armor. That takes me back to Oblivion, with its bandits wearing glass and ebony armor!

I really like rain, with her arms outstretched. I can just imagine Aravi catching raindrops on her tongue.

But your level 4 Aravi is my favorite. She has such a wonderful smile. Are you going to stop playing her at high level, and stick with the Aravi 2.0?
mALX
Nice outfit Aravi has on in "Large Bow!"

Great facial on Aravi in "Dead Thief!"

ROFL !!! The new Aravi looks wild, like a younger (and less disciplined) version of Aravi! Love it!

Can't watch vids yet, but great update so far and will catch up when I get home. <3
Grits
When Serana says, “What Empire?” ohmy.gif Really neat. I love how Aravi took a moment to think things over. Taking a vampire to her home is not something I would have guessed Aravi would do back in her Cyrodiil days, but Serana is different and so is the whole situation. Isran would want to know more. (So he can burn out their nest. blink.gif )

I know from your writing before that Kharjo is probably somewhat perturbed, but he is not showing it and definitely backing Aravi’s play. I love how you are able to show what’s going on without them speaking!

That was an awesome WTF moment with the gargoyle and Kharjo charging in! Then Aravi was keeping her distance from Serana. What an unsettling situation. blink.gif

Oh wow, fights with Serana, Aravi, and Kharjo will never be boring! Raised undead and summonings everywhere, and a Shouting contest! Woo hoo! Plus the sight of Serana rushing up in battle mode is not very calming. That was great to get a word from Kharjo in at the end there. This was great fun to watch, KC!

Screens: Gosh, I do love that big bow. The Ancient Falmer armor looks great on Aravi. I like the way she wears it without the gauntlets and boots. Argh, those thieves! I’ve never managed to intimidate one. I like the way there are a few NPCs in the same type of armor that is available to the player (thieves, some mercenaries), since they are out there alone expecting to prevail while the fur-clad bandits have to fight in groups. Rain is absolutely lovely, I adore her pose. And the new Aravi looks just as kind as we know she is! What a beautiful smile! The last two are my favorites. smile.gif
King Coin
@LL: I assumed that the hand stabby thing was to get blood to wake Serana.

Heh, of course that’s what a werewolf would do. Some in the game seem to be completely feral and animals entirely, the ones that guy on the book was slicing up sounded like they still had their humanity.

Not reading the spoiler, still haven’t played all the way through DG. Aravi’s lived most of her adult life fighting vampires or their disease in some way, and suddenly here’s Serana.

Glad you liked the rainfall, it was a spur of the moment thing. Thanks LL!

@Acadian: You aren’t kidding about a busy battlefield! There’s almost too much going on.

Serana’s pretty good, her summons are good distractions and her spells are good too.

Aravi and vampires don’t mix usually, so there was some tension there with her.

It seems like all thieves in Skyrim have glass armor. Bandits on the other hand never have anything better than steel. Buffy enjoys the rain too doesn’t she? Thanks Acadian!

@SubRosa: I believe Serana’s eyes are supposed to be yellow/gold. I think you have them modded with one of your eye color mods.

Aravi feels nervous with a vampire around, but knowing Kharjo and his axe is behind the vampire is a small comfort.

They really didn’t handle Serana the best, Aravi should have either killed her, or at the very least, taken her to the Dawnguard HQ and not the castle like they make you do. And you can’t become a vampire lord without first joining the Dawnguard.

The bow is a quest reward.

I can imagine Aravi catching rain on her tongue as well in rain. happy.gif

I think I will keep playing the high level Aravi at least until the close of Dawnguard. Right now the low level one is so I can play without feeling like I should be recording. Thanks SubRosa!

@mALX: The outfit in large bow is her elven armor. Lol, The new Aravi is the same Aravi, her personality is the same no matter what.

I hear you are on your way home, can’t wait for you to get back. Thanks mALX!

@Grits: “What Empire” indeed. That really lets you know how long she’s been in there. It’s because Serana is so different (and the game kind of forces you, but let’s ignore that) that Aravi’s willing to take her with.

Kharjo’s taking this vampire pretty well, but you are right. Most definitely perturbed.

Whenever a draugr shouts at Aravi, she feels like she has to reply in kind. laugh.gif

Aravi wouldn’t be Aravi if she wore gauntlets or boots (outside of a sewer anyways). Aravi was able to calm a thief, and when the calm wore off, he wasn’t hostile. Aravi loves a good warm rain. smile.gif Thanks Grits!

Yeah, some do go feral, as Aela says. Lycanthropy alters the mind, makes a person a bit moody and prone to violence, as well as more eager to kill something like Sinding. The werewolves in Bloodmoon encountered in Solshteim were all feral, and all had the names such as "Raving Lunatic" or "Gibbering Idiot"

It depends on the willpower, as well. Those who can't tame themselves, or who hate their condition eventually try to supress their desire, making it harder to push it away when it rises even harder than before. Stuff builds up, you know?

I agree. A vampire hunter would not help out Serana. Especially a pure-blooded Daughter of Coldharbour! We all know how cunning they can be.

Ah, Castle Volkihar! Aravi and Serana, plus Kharjo, have arrived! I love Serana's voice! Laura Bailey also voiced Rayne, a vampire protagonist of the Bloodrayne series.

The interior of the castle is creepy, indeed. Death Hounds walk about(In fact, I think they are the same as Hellhounds from "Arena,". Summoned from the Nether realms) and vampires munch on live cattle. They're blood is probably frozen, allowing the Volkihar to munch on them while they're paralyzed, alas "Immortal Blood,"

Harkon! We meet the head of the Volkihar! I never liked the clan that much. They seem barbaric in their feeding habits, and savage. I'm more of a Order fan of Cyrodiil. They're more intelligent. And he's not known for his patience, is he? Aravi must kill this guy! He's a madman!

Fun fact: I noticed a Death Hound walking by Aravi named CuSith. CuSith is a folkloric demon-hound.

QUOTE
The Cù-Sìth was feared as a harbinger of death and would appear to bear away the soul of a person to the afterlife, similar to the manner of the Grim Reaper.

Yikes! Try imagining one of those dragging victims into Coldharbour, eh? I see Aravi prepared her Beast form before walking up to Harkon. He knows, though, he could smell her "filth." Wet dog smell, much? Or is it wet cat? Confusing. I'm surprised he didn't see you as a meal, vampires like to feed on werewolves.

And Aravi, are expected, rejected Harkon's offer to become a Scion of the Night! Keep you're Lycanthropy, Aravi! As long as she's not a "unnaflicted", then it's all well and good. tongue.gif

Great pics! Aravi walking down the mountain is a great one, and i love those clothes! Ah, Masser and Secunda! The twin moons! Don't gaze at them for too long . . .they're dangerous laugh.gif

SubRosa
Have you had trouble with the LOD for the castle showing up? The High Res texture pack overrides them. I had to open up the Dawnguard.bsa to pull out the lod files for it, an make a separate mod of them to get them working.

Locked inside the castle. I agree with Aravi's headshake. That is not a good sign. I see Aravi got her breast form beast form ready before talking to Admiral Harkov Lord Harkon. Good thinking.

That one vampire sitting at the table on the right looks like she is rowing a boat! biggrin.gif

Its Markus Corvinus! I would back up too. I think Ahnold put it best.

Well that was no much of a choice for Aravi. Like Revansch, there was never any doubt which way it was going to go.

Love the profile view of Aravi against the mountains in Skyrim. You caught a stone in mid glow! The big moon looks really red in that last one, like it is bursting with blood...

What a gothic and gloomy looking castle – complete with what I imagine to be circling ravens! And Serana makes another grand entrance to those inside. I do find myself curious as to why those vamps so badly want an elder scroll. Aravi’s nervousness really came through. She made her choice and the die is cast. Once banished and she returned to the jetty, I was so relieved to see Kharjo was still safely at her side. I have no doubt he rejected that bloodsucker’s offer as well!

And some fabulous screens of Aravi’s beautiful Skyrim!

Will come back to catch up on screens and watch all vids tomorrow, too tired tonight and bleary eyed/cross-eyed from driving!

Could not watch these vids at my mom's, her PC would not play vids even after I did a thorough maintenance cleaning on it.

1. Boy, these Dawnguard are a lot of tough talk but send Aravi to do the dirty work! I am excited about seeing these vids, because so far I've only seen the vampire side of Dawnguard!

2. I remember seeing this crypt when my son did it - these vampires are tough fighters! I hope Kharjo is essential!

3. Ooh, I remember this puzzle! Serena! WOO HOO! I LOVE her voice and dialogue!

4. Screens: Is Aravi looking up in these last two? Really cool looking, is it a Pose Mod? Awesome shots! Vid: Those gargoyles scared the crap out of me! Lol. I couldn't see Kharjo for a while after that melee in the dungeon, was worried he'd lost the battle!

5. Serena's family have some very odd movement cycling issues in your game! This part really scared me - my son reloaded a save and went back in after being banished - ended up giving up his werewolf to try out the new vampire form, lol. WHEW, but if you stay banished can you ever have Serena as a friend? Awesome Vids, all of them !!!!

That is a foreboding approach with the snowy skies, birds, and gargoyles. I didn’t realize that they lock the door behind you. Lovely scene in the dining room complete with cattle on the tables. blink.gif Harkon really spells it out. Mortals are no more to them than steak or salad would be to a human, though Serana seems a little different. Maybe those thousand or however many years Serana slept while the others were eating people made her that way. Aravi had the right idea. Get the heck away from there!

Screens, yay! These were all a treat to see. How fun to see Aravi in some simple armor, and that is a great view next to the waterfall! Where is that? I can’t place the buildings. That looks like a pretty night at the Lady Stone. I love Twin Moons. How beautiful to see them both full, and doubly significant to a Khajiit werewolf! smile.gif

@LL: …or who hate their condition eventually try to supress their desire, making it harder to push it away when it rises even harder than before.
She knows all about that from experience.

The interior of the castle only gets worse as you get deeper into its “guts” so to speak.

She wanted to transform if there was going to be a fight with the vampires. It seemed like it would have been her best chance of surviving. Thanks LL!

@SubRosa: I actually haven’t noticed the LOD having problems, I’ll keep an eye out now though.

I thought the movements of the vampires at the tables were quiet bizarre and I’m not sure if that is actually supposed to happen. I reloaded the scene and it happened like that again, so I went with it.

I wanted to get that stone’s glow, I think the effect is so cool looking! I hadn’t noticed the reddish tint in the moon before you said that. Yikes. Thanks SubRosa!

@Acadian: Whatever they want with the elder scroll, it can’t be good for mortals. I love the big gloomy castle, perfect for a bunch of reclusive vamps. Thanks Acadian!

@mALX: I’m not sure when I’m going to get to see the vampire side of Dawnguard, it’s hard to play any other character. Kharjo isn’t essential; he’s protected like all the other followers. If he ever died, you would know it. You do get to see Serana again, even if you reject the vampire. Thanks mALX!

@Grits: Oh yes, the locked door was quite… scary. No going back, no running away. You can imagine what she felt seeing what’s on those tables, surrounded by the vampires alone. Not a fun moment for Aravi.

The screen with the waterfall is just outside of Falkreath. Thanks Grits!

You took some great action shots in this grouping, and ... is that Aravi building her house? All these shots are awesome, can't pick a favorite among them!

Vid: Is this cave part of the Dawnguard questline? Wolf perks, is that new with the DLC? AWESOME! I wished the perks had shown what they were - LOVED that! Also loved Aravi's outfits, lol. You didn't show the Assassin's note, why are they after Aravi? And how did she know he was coming after her? Awesome vid and update!!!
SubRosa
Its Wolfskull Cave! I have never been in there without doing the Potema quest. I wonder if anything will be in there? Bandits! They sound like good recipients of Aravi's inner beast.

Wow, she killed that first guy with just one hit. He never even saw it coming!

Hmm, the inside is different than before. I guess they change the map after you finish the quest.

Those boots of 50% Frost Resistance should make the walk back a lot warmer.

I see it is seared slaughterfish for dinner. Teresa will have some.

I see you have a skeleton that has gone to pieces now too! Great action shot!

I love the mist pic, with the way it gives the picture a soft focus.

I see Aravi is building a house. I am guessing that is Lakeview Manor from the green on the trees?

Maybe those thousand or however many years Serana slept while the others were eating people made her that way. Aravi had the right idea. Get the heck away from there!

Serana is vampire through and through, though not as extreme as her father. She makes comment about feeding, feeling thirsty, and etc. She also respects other vampires, too. I just don't think she would be munching on people on a dinner table. She might still feed on humans, since that's what predators do, but she won't have that sadistic streak.

King Coin, I am so jealous right now. That werewolf perk tree is so beautifully designed! I think should try out some of the werewolf mods, at least for the reskin. I disliked that all the werewolves in the game are black when in truth they all all different colors from brown to gray wink.gif

Aravi kicked some major butt there. Nothing like some fresh bloody flesh! She also devours hearts now, too.

So, she's building a house, eh? Making it easier for her to wolf out in the wilderness and go straight home after the deed is done.

Fun fact: Did you know that werewolves in the game, including the player, have stronger stats when the moons are full? It's called "Full Moon Rising" on the Construction set biggrin.gif
Acadian
Vid: Wolfskull Cave – that sounds appropriate! Ah, bandits. . . they’ll do just fine for what Aravi has in mind. I like how she wisely strips down before wolfing up – wouldn’t want her doing the hulk clothes ripping thing to all that nice armor! ohmy.gif When she awoke from her rampage, you could sense her guilt over eating a fellow Khajiit. No worries on the puny humans and merlings though. wink.gif

Screens: I like the fish shot because it shows off Aravi’s nice nekkid spots! I guess like the Druglords Drugors other undead stuff, skellies have those cool Welkynd stone eyes? Mist is very artsy and beautiful. Woot - a new cathouse going up in Skyrim! The staff is very impressive with magic swirling around its end; and Aravi looks very angry!

Great stuff!
Grits
Ebony sword and a flawless sapphire?! What tremendous loot! That assassin was loaded. Crime must really pay! At least until he got Aravi’s contract. laugh.gif

That was a great place for a rampage. I never thought about going there without the quest. I thought that Aravi might end up beside the fire with the dead Khajiit at the end, and there she was. sad.gif Now that she has seen what vampires can be, I'm sure she would still rather be a werewolf despite the cost. It makes we wonder if there will ever be a third option.

Screens: I love the look on Aravi’s face as she’s contemplating her building site. Mist is lovely, and so are all of Aravi's spots! happy.gif Staff is my favorite, though. What an expression!
King Coin
@mALX: Yep, she’s building her house.

The werewolf perks are part of the DLC. This cave has nothing to do with the Dawnguard quest, just after being in that castle was very stressful on Aravi and she needed to let the wolf out after.

I didn’t show the assassin note because they are all the same. I have no idea why one of them charged her on the side of the road. Thanks mALX!

@SubRosa: I still haven’t done the Potema quest. I’ve noticed a few dungeons have differences depending whether or not a quest is active. Those boots would, if Aravi wore boots!

Aravi had to do a little cleaning of the waters so that she could swim.

Yes, it’s Lakeview Manor. The location was a little surprising, but I’m quite happy with it there actually. That’s the lake Aravi swims in a lot. Thanks SubRosa!

@DE: I have thought about getting some werewolf mods, up until now the problem with getting them is that they changed every werewolf in the game and not just Aravi’s wolf. I have found a way to fix that problem, so I probably will start looking at ways to make Aravi’s wolf more unique.

I found that effect in the Creation Kit; however the spell it is attached to doesn’t have any users, so I don’t know if it is actually used ever in the game. Thanks DE!

@Acadian: Yep, bandits. The Wolf isn’t picky, as long as it walks on two legs, it’ll take it. Heh, glad you like her preparation for transforming. Can’t have her ruining all her armors with transformations. She’s always sick after a transformation. Eating that Khajiit, it was easy to imagine he was Kharjo. This is why he’s not allowed with.

I like the fish shot too for that reason. wink.gif I think all of the undead have glowing eyes of some kind. I love the visualization of the magic on the staffs. Thanks Acadian!

@Grits: That was the first ebony sword Aravi ever found! I think you remember me complaining about not being able to find any. That took so long to get. Oh and I wonder if the assassins are paid in gems, because they always have one of various qualities.

A good place to sit, be sick, and feel guilty. As I said above, it was easy to see Kharjo there on the ground. The vampires are definitely not better than a werewolf, but it still doesn’t make it any easier.

Glad you like the screens! Thanks Grits!

So the Silver Hand finally gave the Companions the finger? It is about time they did something in retaliation for all those attacks the Companions made on them.

Aravi is taking off her stuff. That can only mean one thing...

Its about time Aravi fought something that actually stood up and fought back. Ha! That Silver Pinkie was not smart enough to walk around the pressure plate! I love when those spring traps send them flying.

Wow, I have never had a character get to 80 in their attack skill.

So that thief must be where Aravi got the elven armor in the vid!

Personal looks like Aravi is giving that poor girl a shave. A rather uncomfortable one at that!

I see her new house is coming along. Time she put Kharjo to work!

Kodlak! sad.gif Dammit Vilkas, making Kharjo leave. Maybe he wants to keep the revenge just between wolves. How appropriate for Aravi to let the beast handle it. This quest goes well with a red rage. It was fun to see Vilkas in the background chasing them down. Right before minute 5 was a particularly awesome werewolf moment. biggrin.gif

I love the new perk tree. Not just for what it does, but the whole idea of getting better and stronger as a werewolf.

Aravi looks quite fierce shopping for her armor. blink.gif That one is my favorite. What is the staff? Wow, that sword through the mouth was a great shot! How fun to see Aravi Manor taking shape. I can’t wait to see which wings (if any) she chooses.
