So what Fallout games have you played, Mustard? Did you play the original for example?

I've tried the originals, but I played Fallout 3 first so I found the combat system of 'You shoot at the Radscorpion. You hit the Radscorpion for 4 points of damage' too reminscent of D&D sessions with a particularly boring GM, especially compared to the sheer visceral thrill of picking out exactly which limb of a target you want destroyed and watching said limb fly away in three separate pieces, all in spectacular slow motion and dramatic camera angles.

As well as 3, I've also played New Vegas. My favourite of the lot, definitely.

Iīd like to try New Vegas, but as you may know I have a thing against certain criteria the game has biggrin.gif
Does New Vegas have a lot of unique items to collect, like Fallout 3 has?

Yup. With the DLC there is even more.

I read on the wiki thereīs around 81 unique weapons to be found, but what about other rare stuff? Fallout 3 has bobbleheads, pre-War toasters, music sheets, Nuka-Cola Clear Formula etc. What does New Vegas have?

I had a ball in New Vegas, but of the two - Fallout 3 is still my favorite. It was close though.

Eh there are lots of unique clothing items, weapons, and several miscellaneous items but FO3 had more unique misc items.

Oh good, thank you. Oh, Kiln is right, those chips with the star on them were great to collect as far as the reward went for them. Also, there was the cave up in the NW with that boxing glove in it that boosted your barehanded to like +65 and the Alien Blaster just past that cave.

I always collect the unique weapons and armor, but you are right that Fallout 3 was much more fun. I collected the Bobbleheads, the smurfs, the Nuka Cola trucks, the Quantum Colas, etc - Fallout 3 was one of the most fun games I ever played. New Vegas lacked the extras that 03 had, but it was still a lot of fun.

Kiln
There are still lots of misc items like Nuka Cola Trucks and two different types of unique Nuka Colas to collect. Then there are the snowglobes, eggs, skins, and various body parts from different animals.

I prefer NV but that is mainly because I feel that the devs understood guns a lot better than the guys who made FO3.

Oh, in F03 I collected everything Lincoln and had it on my bedroom desk - loved that stuff! And teddy bears, my bed in Megaton was covered with them.

ROFL !!!

When the fabric of your "labrador" is worn, you have to patch it, not sew. Patches iron on - but the material will start pulling from the patch edges unless you bring them seam to seam.

King Of Beasts
Why is fabric so irritating dry.gif

Patches are temporary fixes to tide you over till you can get another pair of jeans. The don't last - nothing does once the fabric is worn.

Oh yeah, my son wears them at his work and goest through a lot of them. They get ratty around the ankles, the side pockets start tearing, etc. They have Khaki patches, but once the fabric is worn no matter what you do it will be temporary.

Target should give you an employee discount of about 10% (or whatever your local tax is).

The place my son works, he went to his boss and showed him the condition of his work outfit - these companies usually have some way to cover emergency situations like this.

As to labradors... (ahem)

I went to cargo khakis when I started doing PC work, because I really need the extra pockets.

However, dealing with computers ALSO involves LOTS of crawling around on the floor. After taking the knees out of several not-inexpensive pairs of labradors (which Mrs. Treydog faithfully patched), I found some Carhartts online. While they are also "not-inexpensive,) they do seem to be holding up better.

If you ever read Terry Pratchett, you should see the Samuel Vimes "Boots Theory of Economics."

The Farmer's Coops have Carhartts on the shelves, farmers use them because one pair lasts them decades - at least the jeans do. My husband bought three pairs forever ago and they are still so stiff they walk from the washer to the dryer by themselves.
