Reminds me of this old story

CODE
A GIRL once went to the fair to hire herself for servant. At last a funny-looking old gentleman engaged her, and took her home to his house. When she got there, he told her that he had something to teach her, for that in his house he had his own names for things.

He said to her: 'What will you call me?'

'Master or mister, or whatever you please, sir,' says she.

He said: 'You must call me "master of all masters". And what would you call this?' pointing to his bed.

'Bed or couch, or whatever you please, sir.'

'No, that's my "barnacle". And what do you call these?' said he, pointing to his pantaloons.

'Breeches or trousers, or whatever you please, sir.'

'You must call them "squibs and crackers". And what would you call her?' pointing to the cat.

'Cat or kit, or whatever you please, sir.'

'You must call her "white-faced simminy".

And this now,' showing the fire, 'what would you call this?'

'Fire or flame, or whatever you please, sir.'

'You must call it 'hot cockalorum", and what this?' he went on, pointing to the water.

'Water or wet, or whatever you please, sir.'

'No, "pondalorum" is its name. And what do you call all this?' asked he as he pointed to the house.

'House or cottage, or whatever you please, sir.'

'You must call it "high topper mountain".'

That very night the servant woke her master up in a fright and said: 'Master of all masters, get out of your barnacle and put on your squibs and crackers. For white-faced simminy has got a spark of hot cockalorum on its tail, and unless you get some pondalorum high topper mountain will be all on hot cockalorum' . . . That's all.

Maybe the people who autocorrect are not English/American and don't have a grasp - turn the auto stuff off, I'll bet you would do better. Kobby sent me a hilarious PM the other night, neither of us knew what he'd said, lol.

Autocorrect often corrects incorrectly and fails to form even a mildly coherent sentence.

I'm sure autocorrect has led to a few awkward moments between people and has definitely contributed to the confusion of bith the person sending and receiving the text.

Autocorrect fails is actually a burgeoning meme all it's own. One not reliant upon wit, but rather of circumstance and chance.

What are you having? smile.gif
Elisabeth Hollow
A chicken pesto sammich from our teeny delit area. It's delicious.
mirocu
Sounds tasty biggrin.gif
Elisabeth Hollow
It is! And if I can find any of my team members, I'll be able to finish my job after I get back to work, lol
mirocu
Today I found out that three guys from my former work have been hired at this other place. I just asked the same place and got a no, but they got in dry.gif

Oh thanks for lightening the mood.....p.s.DD/MM/YYYY makes more sense
ghastley
But YYYY/MM/DD makes most sense. If you put the highest-value digit first in a number, then the year should come before the month before the day (hour, minute, second...)

We don't follow your European values here Eire!

Actually, it does, and I really wish that the world could agree on this! Or at least produce some sort of standardization.

As such I always write the name of the month instead of using numbers, unless I've no choice.

"September 10, 2013" for example.

What I should do is go full pretentious to really confuse people!

"Tenth day of the Month of September, Anno Domini Two Thousand Thirteen"
ghastley
I'll see yours and raise you - Roman style.

"ad III id Septembres, MMDCCLXVI AUC."

i.e the third day (inclusive) before the ides (13th) of September, 2766 years after the founding of the city.

Guess I was too late to ask them, I was occupied with other places. But I think I still have a shot at a position there. I just have to wait.

I agree with this.

First you recognize the year, then the month and then finally you narrow it down to the day. The other way around disturbs me greatly.

And you dont want to see me disturbed dry.gif

I mean, you never tell the time by starting with the second or minute and then move up to the hour, now do you?

I don't CARE how many other ways there are to write dates. I'm sticking to the way I was taught to read dates, and I'm not changing my ways tongue.gif

Me too, lol

How was your day Liz?
Rohirrim
Ugh. I sweat through my shirt a million times in school. It's been here since, like, 1859, and nobody thought to install central air since then. kvright.gif
King Of Beasts
How big is the school?
Rohirrim
Three floors, a basement, and a central hallway running through each floor...I'd say like 6-9 rooms per floor.
King Of Beasts
And a lotta kids?

If there's no air conditioner, the smell of teenagers must be strong, lol

Are they even PLANNING on installing something to cool everything down?
