I heartily concur. Nobody, and I mean nobody, takes my heart the way Maxical can. wub.gif

Her vivacious and infectious manner will stay with me forever.

Thanks for bringing back an image of her again, mALX. smile.gif

I have a question-

Has anybody here played the Witcher series. I just bought number 3 on Xbox and hooked up online to see how many updates and free content they added. It said 18GB.

Insane!

I've played the first two. The original didn't run particularly well on my old laptop, so I never got around to completing it. Had a lot of fun with the second on my 360. Loved the way they handled the story branching and I'm a big fan of Vernon Roche. Unfortunately since I've only got a 360 I can't play the third sad.gif

The Witcher 3 is an amazing game. They all pretty much are. Very dark, very adult, story/lore heavy and almost every decision is morally gray. One thing to know, the happy endings of many games are pleasantly absent from the Witcher. Sometimes your actions will have effects you didn't intend amd sometimes those effects will hurt people you care about or leave you feeling like you should've made a different choice. For the most part though there are no mustache twirling villians (with the exception of the Wild Hunt) and everyone is looking out for their best interest while trying to propel their king or faction to the top of the heap. The last game shakes all this up and shows that the series is never really predictable and is well written.

In the second game there are 4-5 major differences in the endings. The third game is a bit more straightforward but with equally important decisions and multiple endings.

I'm a big fan because up until the Witcher the true RPG was a drowning genre. Not many great ones for a disappointing period of time.

The devs are good too, not charging for small dlc pieces and only for the full fledged expansion packs. They are also pretty good about patching problems quickly.

I think you'll love it if you give it a chance.

Former neighbours, acquaintances and girls.

Talked to the firsts, said hi to the seconds, did nothing with the lasts.

And now I´m sitting here biggrin.gif

Well, I'm feeling a little better than I did yesterday. The temperature's back down below 25C, which is nice, but it seems my bad luck hasn't run out just yet.

I think by this point I'm responsible for all the restless dead in Cyrodiil. Anytime you run into a ghost/zombie/wraith it's the vengeful spirit of one of my characters, futilely seeking revenge for their death. laugh.gif
mirocu
I do not dispute that, truth be told rollinglaugh.gif

I think you outta do what I did when I was new to Oblivion; spend a heck of a lot of time in Imperial City and hone your character´s skills, particularly his defenses.

Oh, and health potions wink.gif
Callidus Thorn
Kazimir went through a dozen health potions in that fight. That's how useless the Battlemages were.

I think it's more a case of not going into a mage-fight at level one with a character born under the Apprentice.

Maybe I'll try something a little more conventional for my next character, rather than an exclusively magic-using character who's weak to magic.

Possibly an Argonian Nightblade. It's been a while since I played an Argonian, and even longer since I played a stealthy blade/magic wielding character...

I think the problem was starting in Anvil. Starting in the Imperial City, Anvil would have been one of the less immediate quests, and would have taken some time to get to. Kazimir would probably have been level four or five by the time he got there, and things would have played out differently. But starting in Anvil it's natural to take that Guild Quest first, because it's a pretty long trip out there to do one quest that's required to get access to the Arcane University.

That and I really wasn't expecting Caminalda to throw lightning bolts around. I've never seen her do that before.
Acadian
Sorry about the loss of Kaz, CT. Maybe start him again in Bruma or Bravil (where the first recommendation is much safer) and, like mirocu suggests, play him close to town and protectively till he levels up. Sounds like Kaz's build is strong - just a late bloomer build.

I could read that as "i used to eat bacon sandwiches for breakfast twice a week, but I stopped" or "I only eat bacon sandwiches for breakfast five days a week now."

Were they displaced by sausages? black pudding? deep-fried Mars bars?
Callidus Thorn
Haha, the former, not the latter. laugh.gif

They were displaced by cornflakes, which are now my breakfast of choice.

By the way, since the server went down a couple weeks ago all the older stories in these fics are having issues showing punctuation as diamonds - if you are seeing that on your screen; go to the "tools" button on the page; find the "Encoding" (may be under "More Tools") - click on "Western." I'm actually too jealous right now for my typical Magnetoesque response to mods, that just sounds seriously cool.

I've never played a Khajiit, their faces just don't work for me. Maybe if I spent thirty minutes or so trying to sort one out...

Same here. I played Maxical as a vanilla Khajililt on the XBox for years, but was really, really not happy with her looks at all. There was nothing about her that I could feel attached to; but I liked the Khajiit racial bonuses. I saw this screenshot on the internet one day and it is the whole reason I went out and bought a gaming PC and Oblivion for PC:

IPB Image

The mod is fantastic. Her facial expressions go from sad; surprised; bored; happy; angry; really angry; injured = and the ears reflect everything you see in her face; which is something the vanilla Khajiit player character never did. It also made her look younger; and unique. That was a huge thing, to me - and one of the reasons I couldn't play Maxical in Skyrim. I couldn't give her a unique look there, she looked exactly the same as every other white Khajiit there.

I had never seen head tracking in the game before; and the first time I saw her do it I got hooked on playing in 3rd person just to watch her nodding at people in passing and smiling at them - or glaring at them and laying her ears back!

The mod gave her the personality that the vanilla Khajiit totally lacked. I added voice to her so she hums when she is walking about; and sighs; and then found that great Scottish voice files from Annah-of-the-Shadows, from Planescape: Torment - she even talks about having a tail; and is kind of scrappy like Maxical is - so the voice fit.

Maxical's mod is the only mod I will not play without; the game would never be the same with a vanilla Khajiit for me.

TBH, I think there is something wrong with the website, that is causing it to report the wrong character set. We shouldn't have to manually set our character encoding to Western every time we view a page. When I look at Page Info in Firefox, it says that the page encoding is UTF-8, but lower down in the same window it says the Meta tag from the page is reporting iso-8859-1. So something weird is going on.

In game he could be tough or too easy, depending on what you came after him with. But by fan of his, I was talking about his dialogue; he is kind of charismatic when you first talk to him (like Mankar Camoran is) - I really like when they make the enemies feel a little grayish and make you wonder before killing them, lol.

I wondered that too. Awful long stories to be having to go in and manually fix the issues. But when we all left the official site to come here; my story at the Bethesda official forums had the same thing wherever there was supposed to be special punctuation like quotes or hyphens - they have had years to fix that; and I think it is still the same way to this day (or was the last time I looked a couple years ago)

I wonder how it can be fixed?

I tried to research it and found this:

QUOTE

Does your UTF-8 in the character meta match the mime-type being served?

They all need to match. Just changing the META to read UTF-8 doesn't mean the file is saved encoded AS UTF-8.

So, you need these three to match:
File Format/Encoding
Meta saying what encoding is used
Mime-type on the server.

Sounds like you've got one, maybe two of those and not all three.

Of course as a forums you also have how the posts were char-accepted meaning the data stored in the SQL databases may not be encoded to UTF-8, completely boning any chance of your existing posts ever being served as UTF-8 properly without adding more php to translate the old ones on the fly; this is why changing character encodings on an existing website is most always a disaster. Is that forum script set up to send utf-8?

That is Awesome for you, because you probably inherit some good male hair genes there! My Grandmother on my Mother's side was that way too; not a single gray hair her whole life and she never dyed her hair. Her hair was very thick and glossy black like a raven.

My Mom is (was) full Italian; I think that had something to do with both her and her Mother looking so young their whole lives. My oldest sister looks more like my Dad and aged early; the next youngest to her is just two years younger and looks half her age - doesn't dye her hair, either. (all three of us younger sisters look more like my Mom and stayed looking young)
